CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO:
THE NEW GIRL

THEIR KISS WAS DEEP and extremely passionate as they laid on Rosalie's bed. Emma didn't want the moment to end and let out a sigh when it did.

"Come on love birds, we got school." Amelia called, knocking on the door.

"I can't wait till summer." Emma whined. Rosalie chuckled with amusement before giving her wife one more kiss. In 2004, the couple had found out gay marriage had been legalized in Massachusetts, and as promised Emma gave Rosalie the best wedding the blonde could ever ask for. The went to Italy for their honeymoon and it was the best decision Emma had ever made. Reluctantly, Emma sat up with an annoyed groan.

"Can't I just stay out?" Emma asked.

"Emma, no." Esme's voice could be heard from downstairs. Emma groaned again before forcing herself out of the bed. Emma walked over to Rosalie's closet and boredly looked through the many clothes before deciding on an outfit. She pulled on black skin tight jeans, a belt, and a white sweater. She tucked the sweater into her pants and then messed with her hair and placed on very light and natural makeup.

"Come on, Em." Rosalie called. Emma huffed before walking out of the closet and grabbing hold of Rosalie's outstretched hands. They were halfway through the school year. With only three months left of school, Emma was impatient. It was like this every year. She hated school more than the others, mainly because of the blood lust that would come with it. The two girls walked to Rosalie's red car, Jasper and Alice already in the backseat.

"Would it make you happier if you drove?" Rosalie asked. Emma's face immediately lit up and Rosalie chuckled before handing the girl her car keys. Emma immediately cranked the car and smiled widely at the sound of the Mercedes engine coming to life. Emma quickly sped after Emmett's jeep which held the other three children; Amelia, Emmett, and Edward.

As soon as they pulled into the school's parking lot, Emma and Jasper both immediately fell tense. The smell of everyone's blood was so strong. Even when Emma was holding her breath, she could hear everyone's hearts beating loudly and rapidly in their chests, she could hear the blood pumping through their veins.

"Come on, love." Rosalie softly said, grabbing Emma's attention. The blonde turned off the car and loosened her tight grip around the steering wheel. She got out of the car and walked around to the other side to lean against it as the family all waited until the school bell rang. Rosalie's hand was interlaced with Emma's, her tense posture immediately relaxing under her wife's touch.

When the bell rang, Rosalie gave Emma a kiss on the cheek as well as reassuring smile. She left with Emmett as Amelia walked over to Emma. Amelia grabbed her hand before they started into the school. Luckily for Emma, she had at least one sibling in all of her classes, except for Astronomy.

Emma and Amelia walked into their math class, sitting in the very back and writing down any necessary notes they needed to take. Math always went by the slowest, and half the time Emma didn't pay attention due to the fact that she already knew it by heart. Emma walked out of the class as soon as the bell rang. Jasper was already waiting for her for their history class. Immediately, Emma grabbed his hand as they started towards the classroom.

"You really don't want to be here do you?" Jasper mused, glancing at her as they sat down in their seats.

"Do you?" Emma retorted sarcastically. Jasper smirked at her before looking up at the teacher who started a lecture about the Civil War. Occasionally, Emma and Jasper would correct the teacher on his information that he would tell. Each time, the two siblings were always correct. After Emma's English class that she shared with Alice, Emma patiently waited with Alice and Jasper for her other siblings to arrive so that they could go to lunch.

"What if we just leave and not come back for like a week?" Emma tried.

"Emma, we're not leaving." Alice spoke, rolling her eyes at the annoyed girl.

"Jasper." Emma whined, glancing at him. He held his hands up, taking a step back. Emma glared at him as she crossed her arms over her chest, letting out a huff.

"What have you two done now?" Rosalie asked, glancing at Jasper and Alice as she walked up to Emma.

"She's being a child." Jasper spoke. Emma glared at him before turning her head to look at Rosalie, a smile immediately falling over her face as Rosalie intertwined their fingers. Rosalie gave her a kiss on the cheek before the two started walking. Behind them were Amelia and Emmett, Jasper and Alice, and then Edward.

"Stop calling me a child then maybe I won't be one." Emma mused, turning her head to look at him. When they got closer to the cafeteria, a smirk over fell her features when she heard the new girl ask who they were. "Everyone ready to hear Jessica's daily gossip about us?"

"Always." Amelia mused, sharing a smirk with Emma. Emma let go of her wife's hand and pulled open the cafeteria door for her. Rosalie walked in and looked around before taking hold of Emma's hand again.

"The Cullen's." Angela answered.

"Doctor and Mrs. Cullen's foster kids. They all moved down here from Alaska two years ago." Jessica explained.

"They kinda keep to themselves." Angela continued.

"Because they're all together. Like together together. The blonde girl in the blue, that's Rosalie. And the other blonde who always has a scowl or smirk on her face, that's Emma. They're a thing. I'm not even sure that's legal." Jessica said, making sure to keep her voice low. But of course, the two blonde's could hear her perfectly.

"Jess, they're not actually related." Angela defended as Emma and Rosalie sat down at the table with their food.

"But they live together." Jessica stated. "The brunette is Amelia, she's with the big guy, Emmett. And the little dark haired girl, Alice, she's really weird." A scowl immediately fell on Emma's face at the description of Alice. Alice wasn't weird, she was just extremely happy about everything. "She's with Jasper, the blonde who looks like he's in pain. I mean, Dr. Cullen's like this foster dad slash matchmaker."

"Maybe he'll adopt me." Angela sighed. The new girl laughed. Emma didn't like her, whoever she was. Emma had passed her in the hallways and the smell of her blood was so incredibly sweet that she was sure if Amelia hadn't been there, the blonde would have attacked.

"Stop glaring." Amelia nudged the girl as she sat down beside her. Emma glanced at her before rolling her eyes and listening in onto Jessica's conversation once again.

"Who's he?"

"That's Edward Cullen." Jessica responds. "He's totally gorgeous, obviously. But apparently no one here is good enough for him. Like I care."

"I think she's still salty when he rejected her last year." Amelia stated, sharing an amused glance with Emma.

"Anyways, don't waste your time." Jessica finished.

"I wasn't planning on it."

"I don't like her." Emma stated just as Edward sat on the other side of Rosalie. Rosalie leaned into Emma who immediately wrapped an arm around her.

"Em, you don't like anybody." Rosalie stated.

"Wonder who I get that from." Emma joked. Rosalie glanced up at her with the roll of her eyes. Emma chuckled before giving her a kiss on the top of the head which immediately made Rosalie smile. Emma glanced up at Edward, taking note of his intense staring. Emma followed his eye line to the new girl and immediately glared. She looked at her adoptive brother. "Stop staring it's creepy."

Edward removed his gaze from Bella―︎Emma just now figuring out her name as she listened to Bella's friends talk about her―︎and looked at Emma. She sent him a sweet smile which made him roll his eyes at her. Let's just say, Emma and Edward didn't get along very well. Emma got along with everyone else perfectly fine, except for Edward. Edward went back to looking at the brunette while Emma went back to making her wife smile.

When the bell rang, signalling the end of lunch, Emma let out a groan. The family waited until most of the students were out before they decided to get out of their seats. Emma was nervous for her next two classes per usual. She was going to be in the class without any of her siblings in Astronmoy. Luckily, she sat by herself in Astronomy. Biology, however, she was forced to sit beside of Mike Newton who annoyed her greatly. She had tried several times to convince her teacher to let her sit beside of Edward, but he had refused saying she was fine where she was. When really, she wasn't.

For Emma, Astronomy was one of her favorite subjects which made the smell of blood a little more tolerable, but not by much. Astronomy distracted her because no matter how many times she took it, it always interested her. So, Emma sat in the back of the class with a tense posture, studying over the constellations that she already knew by heart. When it was time for her biology class, Edward was already waiting outside her Astronomy classroom for her.

The two walked in their usual comfortable silence and weren't surprised when they were the first two in the class. Emma sat on the opposite side of the room, sitting close to the wall which of course closed her in around all of the students. Slowly, the students all filed into the room. Mike went to greet her but with one glare from Emma, he didn't speak. Emma looked up just in time to see Isabella Swan enter the classroom. The girls gaze was sorely on Edward. When she stepped in front of the fan. It blew her scent all around the room, sadly Emma had accidentally inhaled at the same time.

The sweet smell of Bella's blood immediately filled her senses. Emma felt her eyes darken as well as feeling the venom fill in her mouth. She wanted to attack, and she almost did. She waited until Bella sat down before Emma shot out of her seat, making the excuse that she felt sick before she quickly left the classroom. Emma had to leave. She mentally scolded herself at being so weak. Just the smell of Bella's blood brought out all her animalistic instincts. Emma sped out of the school, looking around before she quickly ran away back to the woods of her home so that she could hunt. This was going to be a hard three months of school.
