CHAPTER FIFTEEN:
STAY, PLEASE
1950
THEY HAD OFFICIALLY BEEN with the Cullen Clan for six months, and Emma had still not made the effort to talk to anyone beside Alice and Jasper―︎sometimes Carlisle when he wanted to study her gift, and Amelia who was very ambitious and determined to get Emma to open up. Everyone else, however, she ignored. If they asked her a question, she would give simple and short answers. It was a way of both punishing and protecting herself because of the past.
Emma sat outside of the lovely home, a book in her hands as she stretched her legs out on the grass in front of her. Her hair was placed mostly on her back and left shoulder as she took a strand between her fingers and lightly twirled it. Emma didn't notice the blonde goddess that had been watching her from the window of her home, but even if she had she would've ignored it.
Rosalie stood there with her arms crossed over her chest, a small frown playing on her face as she looked at the blonde that was too distracted by her own actions to notice her. Rosalie didn't understand what she was doing wrong. Every time she would try to talk to Emma, the latter would always walk away with a scowl on her face, or she would push Rosalie away before the girl even had the chance to speak. All Rosalie wanted to do was care for Emma. To love Emma.
Within the several months that had passed, Rosalie had found herself deeply falling for Emma Whitlock. Even if Rosalie never got much out of the young blonde, she couldn't help but fall deeper when she heard the mere sound of Emma's voice. She couldn't help herself when she was around Emma's presence in general. And clearly the blonde didn't care to realize this for she continuously pushed Rosalie away from her.
"She'll come around." Rosalie turned her head at the sound of Alice's voice. The small pixie walked up to her with a reassuring smile on her face. "It took a year and half for her to get used to me. Just give her time." With that Alice offered the blonde a small smile before exiting the room. Rosalie watched the small vampire leave before looking back towards where Emma was only to find her spot empty.
"Why do you want to talk to me so badly?" Rosalie quickly spun on her heels at the sound of Emma's voice. The girl now stood behind of Rosalie, her eyebrows furrowed and her arms crossed over her chest. Her head cocked to the side as she waited for an answer.
"Is it a crime to want to get to know someone that lives under the same roof as me?" Rosalie asked.
"If I do not have my own room, than I do not live under the same roof as you." Emma responded with a sarcastic smile. She went to turn away, but Rosalie wasn't having it. She grabbed hold of Emma's forearm, turning the girl to face her once again. Their faces were mere inches apart as Rosalie spoke her next words―︎trying her hardest to keep her eyes focused on Emma's eyes instead of trailing down towards her mouth that she knew she would be tempted to kiss.
"You do have a room, you're just too stubborn to stay in it. You're scared to get close to people, but believe it or not, Emma, we're your family now. You need to suck it up and start treating us like one." Rosalie snarled at her, a scowl falling onto her lips. Emma couldn't help the smirk that fell on her features at the girl's annoyed expression.
"I have a feeling there is so much more that you aren't telling. Care to share?" Emma asked cocking her head to the side. The blonde didn't answer. "Maybe if I leave this would make things so much easier for you. You would enjoy that, correct?"
"Like you would leave Jasper behind." Rosalie scoffed. Emma shrugged her shoulders.
"Jasper has Alice, he doesn't need me anymore. Don't worry, Rosalie, I'll be gone within the hour so you won't have to deal with me anymore." Emma assured her. She removed herself from Rosalie's grip and once again turned to walk away.
"Please," Emma stopped at Rosalie's begging voice. "don't go."
"Why not? Give me one good reason―︎besides my brother―︎as to why I should stay." Emma told her, turning around to look the blonde in the eye.
"I-"
"That's what I thought." Emma told her. Nodding her head, Emma started towards the door of the home. As Emma walked outside, Rosalie stood there unsure of what to do. She wanted Emma to stay there, with her, but she feared that reason wasn't going to be good enough. God, why did Emma have to be so stubborn?
"She's not really going to leave is she?" Rosalie asked when she heard approaching footsteps. She turned her head as Jasper and Alice entered. Sadly, the couple both nodded their heads. Rosalie let out a frustrated sigh, running a hand through her hair. "What do I do?"
"What you think is right." Alice simply answered, an encouraging and knowing smile falling on her features. Rosalie glanced towards Jasper as if asking a silent question. The boy let a small smile fall on his face before he gave her a simple nod. Rosalie took a deep breath as she nodded her head before quickly speeding out of the home and into the woods in search for Emma. Luckily, the blonde beauty had stopped for a quick snack before saying goodbye.
Emma looked at Rosalie as she stood up from the animal. She rose a questioning eyebrow at the blonde and blinked in surprise when the girl appeared right in front of her. Rosalie wiped the animal blood from the corner of Emma's mouth. Rosalie searched Emma's golden eyes, wondering for a moment what they looked like when she was human, before taking a deep breath.
"Rosalie, what are you-"
Emma was cut off by Rosalie's lips crashing onto hers. To say the Whitlock girl was surprised would be an understatement, but to say she didn't enjoy the kiss would be an understatement as well. Rosalie quickly pulled away before Emma could fully take in the moment.
"Stay, please." Rosalie's voice was in a hushed whisper. Emma couldn't speak, her eyes were looking at Rosalie's soft lips before they looked back up to her eyes. Emma just nodded her head in response and couldn't help herself when she pressed her lips back against Rosalie's once more.
Everything felt like it was falling in place. With Rosalie's lips against her own, Emma couldn't help but feel complete. Even though the two didn't know each other that well, they knew that soon they would―︎whether that was speaking in sexual terms or not, Emma couldn't tell you. It wasn't like the movies where they said fireworks would explode when you kissed for the first time. It was just the fact that it felt right, being there in each other's presence, embracing one another with the purest kiss. Maybe this was the love Emma had always dreamed about. Maybe this was the key to Emma's true happiness.
