๐ธโ๐๐ธ surfaced, gasping for breath, and clung to a tree root to steady herself in the water's gentle current. As her adrenaline gradually subsided, she faced the creature, which continued to prance on the cliff's edge. Arya defiantly flipped it off before hauling herself out of the water.
Once on solid ground, she took a moment to survey her surroundings, her senses alert. Spotting a large stick nearby, Arya seized the opportunity, sharpening one end to fashion a makeshift spear. Armed and determined, she ventured further into the forest, ready to protect herself against any potential threats.
As Arya cautiously made her way through the forest, attentive to every sound around her, she remained unaware of a hidden figure lurking in the trees above. Unseen, a Na'vi crouched on a tree branch, observing her closely. The Na'vi quietly prepared his bow, aiming to take his shot. Just as he was about to release the arrow, his attention was diverted by the arrival of a woodsprite, known as atokirina in Na'vi tongue. The ethereal creature gently perched on the end of his arrow, and, after a brief pause, the Na'vi lowered his weapon.
As the woodsprite fluttered away, the Na'vi glanced back to where Arya had been, only to discover she had vanished. With a purposeful expression, he decided to leave his concealed vantage point, determined to locate her in the vastness of the forest.
In the ship, Jake, Norm, and Grace scanned the terrain below, desperately searching for any sign of Arya. As the sun began to set, Trudy made a difficult decision, "I'm gonna have to call it, guys. We're not allowed to run night ops. Colonel's orders." Grace, with a worried expression, lowered her binoculars, acknowledging the limitations of the situation. "I'm sorry, Doc, she's just gonna have to hang on till morning," Trudy announced. Grace, overcome with concern, responded, "She won't make it till morning." Jake and Norm shared the worry, but Jake, trying to stay optimistic, insisted, "She's strong. She will make it; she's got to." Despite the uncertainty, Trudy turned the ship around, heading back to headquarters.

As night fell in Pandora, Arya wrapped her jacket around the end of her spear, hastily coating it with tree sap. The eerie sounds of creatures, reminiscent of hyenas, echoed through the forest-viperwolves. Remembering the details from Grace's book, Arya hurriedly lit a match, praying for success. Finally, the match ignited, and she swung the torch around, revealing a pack of viperwolves behind her.
Backing away slowly, Arya climbed over roots, trying to evade the relentless pursuit of the viperwolves that followed her through the branches above. Arriving in a small clearing, she found herself surrounded, swinging her weapon to keep them at bay. "I don't have all goddamn night. Come on! Come on!" she urged.
As the tension escalated, Arya defended herself against the relentless onslaught. One viperwolf pounced, but she reacted swiftly, knocking it away. Another attempted to attack from above, but Arya thwarted its advance. Amid the chaos, her weapon fell, and Arya fought desperately to retrieve it. Viperwolves closed in from all sides. Undeterred, Arya faced the challenge head-on, brandishing her knife in readiness. However, a viperwolf lunged at her, knocking her down.
However, just as the viperwolf was about to strike Arya, a Na'vi emerged from the shadows and swiftly shot an arrow, finding its mark on the menacing creature. Arya, bewildered, observed as the Na'vi expertly handled his bow, taking down another viperwolf and defending himself with agility and precision. Grateful for the intervention, Arya watched in awe as the Na'vi dispatched the remaining threats. Once the danger had passed, the Na'vi, irritated by the torch's light, extinguished it by tossing it into the water. Arya, concerned, exclaimed, "Hey, wait. Don't!" The Na'vi, seemingly indifferent, continued his actions. Arya sighed, realizing the Na'vi's connection with the environment and the creatures around him.
As the Na'vi approached a wounded viperwolf, Arya followed and witnessed him putting an end to the creature's suffering. Impressed and grateful, Arya expressed her gratitude, acknowledging the Na'vi's impressive skills. However, when she tried to engage in conversation, the Na'vi showed little interest and walked away. Undeterred, Arya pursued him, attempting to convey her thanks and understanding. The Na'vi, maintaining his distance, abruptly turned and swung his bow at Arya, causing her to fall. Groaning in pain, Arya pleaded, "Wait. Just... Hey, slow down. Please. Look, wait up, I just wanted to say thanks for killing and protecting me from those viperwolves."
The Na'vi abruptly turned around, swinging his bow at Arya, who fell to the ground, groaning in pain. Despite her attempts to apologize and express gratitude, the Na'vi pointed his bow at her, angrily stating, "Don't thank. You don't thank for this. This is sad. Very sad only."
Confused and hurt, Arya attempted to reason with him, "My fault? They attacked me. How am I the bad guy?" The Na'vi, fueled by anger, shoved his bow towards her, repeating, "Your fault! Your fault!" Arya, maintaining a soft tone, tried to calm him, "Shh. Easy. Easy."
"You're like a baby. Making noise, don't know what to do," the Na'vi remarked, his tone reflecting a mix of frustration and patience. Arya, realizing her vulnerability, tried to placate him, "Easy. Easy. Fine. Fine." As she stood up, she couldn't help but notice the Na'vi's towering presence, emphasizing the significant height difference between them. She questioned his decision to save her, "If you loved them, why not let them just kill my ass? What's the thinking?"
The Na'vi met her gaze, pondering her words before responding, "Why save you?" Arya nodded, echoing his question, "Yeah. Yeah, why save me?" The Na'vi, his voice softening, explained, "You have a strong heart. No fear." However, he criticized her lack of understanding, "But stupid! Ignorant like a child." With those words, he began to walk away.
Unfazed, Arya chuckled slightly and followed him, suggesting, "Well, if I'm like a child, then... Look, maybe you should teach me." The Na'vi dismissed the idea, stating, "Sky People cannot learn. You do not see." Arya persisted, "Well, then teach me how to see," as they continued walking. The Na'vi, emphasizing the difficulty of his task, replied, "No one can teach you to See," leaving Arya intrigued and determined. "Look, come on, can't we talk? Say, where'd you learn to speak English? Dr. Augustine's school?" As she spoke, she lost her footing and nearly stumbled, but the Na'vi swiftly caught her arm, preventing her from falling. After helping her regain her balance, he released her and muttered to himself.
Arya, Arya, grateful for the Na'vi's assistance, realizing her need for cooperation, softened her tone, "I'm sorry about back there, but I am grateful that you protected me. I need your help." The Na'vi, his expression unchanged, stated, "You should not be here." Arya, persistent, made a plea, "Okay, take me with you."
"No! Go back," he insisted, looking at Arya with a stern expression. Ignoring his plea, Arya continued to follow him, responding with a firm "No." He turned back and gently pushed her, repeating, "Go back." However, his attention was diverted by the woodsprites, and Arya, swatting them away, felt his grasp on her arm. The Na'vi said something in his language, and another woodsprite approached Arya. Arya swatted it away and spoke, "No!" in his tongue, as more of the spirits gathered around Arya. Covered in the glowing seeds of the Sacred Tree, Arya stood still, observing them. "What... What are they?" she inquired, to which the Na'vi replied, "Seeds of the Sacred Tree. Very pure spirits."
Amazed, Arya giggled as the woodsprites flew away. "What was that all about?" she asked the Na'vi, who simply gestured for her to follow. He took her hand, and they walked through the forest. Arya questioned, "Where are we going?" as they reached plants that glowed upon her touch. Chuckling, Arya playfully smacked each plant, making them glow. The Na'vi urged her to continue walking, and she followed, captivated by the illuminated path beneath her feet. They approached another branch, and Arya asked, "What's your name?"
However, bolas suddenly wrapped around her ankles, causing Arya to fall off the branch. The Na'vi gasped, rushed to her aid, and helped her untangle the bolas. As they stood up, more Na'vi riding direhorses approached, surrounding Arya with pointed arrows. Tsu'tey, a male Na'vi, confronted them, declaring, "These demons are forbidden here." The Na'vi defended Arya, saying, "There has been a sign. This is a matter for the Tsahik," standing in front of her protectively. Tsu'tey ordered, "Bring her," and the Na'vi warriors seized Arya, holding her tight by her braid that caused her a bit of pain. Ignoring her questions, they dragged her away, following Tsu'tey. Arya, confused and concerned, could only be led by the people surrounding her.
As the Na'vi warriors reached their destination, Arya observed a massive tree as they entered, greeted by the rest of the Na'vi clan. Walking forward behind the male Na'vi, Arya attracted the attention of the clan, with one member playfully slapping her arm. The male Na'vi took Arya's arm, leading her forward to meet the clan leader. "Father, I see you," he announced, releasing Arya's arm and offering a gesture of greeting to his father. The Olo'eyktan descended from the platform, scrutinizing Arya before questioning, "The creature... why do you bring her here?"
"I was going to kill her, but there was a sign from Eywa," the son explained. The father responded sternly, "I have said... no dreamwalker will come here." Arya, having picked up only bits of the conversation, asked the Na'vi, "What is he saying?"
"Her alien smell fills my nose," the Olo'eyktan remarked as the clan laughed before the male Na'vi translated to Arya, "My father is deciding whether to kill you." Arya addressed the leader, "Father, it's nice to meet you, sir." Everyone looked at her in surprise and approached her as she continued, "What? Did I say something wrong? I'm sorry, I only know little of the language."
A voice interrupted, capturing everyone's attention. A female Na'vi descended the stairs, declaring, "Step back! I will look at this alien." She approached Arya, introduced as Mother and Tsahik, the one who interprets the will of Eywa. The male Na'vi explained to Arya, "That is Mother. She is Tsahik."
The Tsahik gently grabbed Arya's braid and her tail before circling her, eventually facing her. "What are you called?" Mother inquired before Arya replied, "Arya Miller." The Tsahik drew her blade, pricked Arya with it, and licked the blood, asking, "Why did you come to us?" Arya responded, "Came to learn." The Tsahik put away her blade and remarked, "We have tried to teach other Sky People. It is hard to fill a cup which is already full."
"Well, my cup is empty, trust me. I only know phrases, not everything. I'm not a scientist," Arya replied before the Tsahik spoke, "What are you?" she asked. Arya answered, "I was a Marine Dog Handler. A... A warrior of the Jarhead clan."
Tsu'tey, eager to assert himself, declared, "A warrior! I could kill her easily!" He started to approach Arya, but the Olo'eyktan intervened, shouting, "No! This is the first warrior dreamwalker we have seen. We need to learn more about her."
The Tsahik then spoke, "My son, you will teach him our way... to speak and walk as we do." The son sighed annoyed and protested, "Why me? That's not fair..." The Tsahik halted her son, who groaned in frustration before she addressed Arya, "It is decided. My son will teach you our ways. Learn well, Arya Miller. Then we will see if your insanity can be cured." Arya nodded in acknowledgment.
