jay ignored the sound of notifications coming from his phone. he's not in the mood to listen to any of jake's love story early in the morning.

it's not like it's the first time that jake's been talking to him about heeseung, but now jay feels annoyed for some reason. maybe it's because i'm single? should i date someone too?

he decided to get out of his room, and seeing sunoo in a pink apron made him smile. my roommate's just so cute.

"good morning bubba," jay mutters while pinching sunoo's cheek. "you're so squishy."

sunoo hits his hand. "morning, want some coffee?"

"nah i'm good." jay looks at the food that sunoo has been cooking. "that's a lot. you're bringing packed lunch?"

the other shakes his head. "it's enough for us three."

three? did he get another roommate or something? jay was about to ask but sunoo already pointed at the living room, and jay had his eyebrows furrowed when he sees someone lying on their couch.

"who's that? did you adopt a homeless man- aw!" he winced when sunoo hit him again.

"that's not ni-ki right? i'm sure you wouldn't let your boyfriend sleep on the couch." sunoo rolled his eyes at his comment.

he walked closer to check the person. wait, he's too familiar. is this...?

"heeseung?" he glanced at sunoo who went back to cooking. "why's he here?"

he watched as the guy slept soundly. damn, why does it look like it's his first sleep since decades?

"i found him outside when i got home, he said he doesn't want to sleep in his dorm." he heard sunoo sighed. "i even told him he can sleep in my room, but he said he's fine with sleeping on the couch."

of course he won't agree to that. imagine sleeping inside your ex's room, that would be hell. jay thought.

he can't imagine how heeseung feels. he's the one who broke up with sunoo, but jay also knows there's a reason why. but i won't ask.

heeseung is still curled up on the couch. jay realized that the guy has been asleep with no blanket so he went back to his room to get his extra one. he gets rid of the dust off before putting the blanket on heeseung.

how did jake even like this guy? jay stared at his face. sure, he's got the looks. i won't deny that. he's even got long eyelashes. i know he smokes too, but his lips are still in a pinkish shade.

"jay, stop surveying heeseung's face like you're making a goddamn autopsy report." jay quickly looked away when sunoo interrupts him.

"i was just checking if he's still breathing."

"really? why not check his vital signs while you're at it." the younger said sarcastically.

"i still have a class so i'll leave you two here. take care of heeseung hyung okay? make sure he eats breakfast. bye!"

sunoo left before jay could even say anything. he clicks his tongue as he sits on the beanbag beside the couch.

why does sunoo always act like heeseung needs a lot of care and attention? did he give birth to him? he scoffed.

"m-mom? mom..."

his mother is just staring at him with her blank eyes.

"you bastard." his mother suddenly looks at him with so much hatred. why? what did i do?

"you killed him. you k-killed him!"

"i don't have a son. you... you're a murderer."

heeseung woke up, panting. he gasped for air, as if he hadn't been breathing for a while.

"hey, are you okay?" heeseung blinks when he realizes that jay is in front of him, holding his arm.

"jay? wha- why are you here?"

"dude, you're in my dorm." his friend looks at him. "you don't look fine, are you having a nightmare?"

heeseung didn't answer. instead, he sits up on the couch, finally remembering that he slept at sunoo and jay's apartment.

since he was alone inside his dorm last night, he knew he wouldn't get any ounce of sleep so he went here.

meanwhile, jay grabbed one of his face towels to wipe the sweat off heeseung. he was just playing a game on his phone earlier when he heard the guy muttering in his sleep.

he keeps calling his mom. does he miss her? but it doesn't seem like a good dream, so jay had to wake him up.

jay continues to wipe the sweat off heeseung's forehead while the latter is still preoccupied.

why would he call his mother's name so desperately? it almost sounded like a cry for help.

"...jay." heeseung mumbles after a while.

"mhm?" jay responds. he's now walking back from the kitchen to get a glass of water for the older.

"thanks for waking me up."

"no worries, are you sure you're okay now? you really look pale."

heeseung nods. "i'm good." i haven't slept that long in a while, so i'm feeling better.
