Chapter 38 ~ I Saved the Day Again (Your Welcome)
Episode: Season 8 - Heartache Pt. 3Β Β
After half an hour passed, I'd begun to get more than a little worried. Biting the bullet, I pressed a chaste kiss to Yasmin's hair and making sure to lock the doors and leave the A/C on, I made my way into the club. The coolness of the metal soothed me in the slightest even though I knew I didn't necessarily need it. But it wasn't hard to find them anyhow once inside since the place was deserted - I just followed the voices.
"I couldn't dissect a frog in high school. But sacrificing to Cacao? Best choice I ever made," a woman spoke seductively.
As I stepped into the main room, my dark eyes landed on the woman talking. And once I saw her there, straddling my boyfriend on the stage and running a finger down his chest as two goons held him down, I felt the blood begin to boil in my veins.
"So, if I go real slow and take my time and enjoy this, I can actually show you your own beating heart before you die."
She put a hand on his chest then and he groaned as she began to dig her nails through his t-shirt, attempting to puncture his skin beneath the material.
"HEY!" I shouted, making all eyes turn to me just as my own eyes turned an inky-black before I spat venomously, "Don't you dare touch my man!"
Before any of them could make a move, I ran over and snatched the demon blade from Dean's jeans pocket. Leaning over him, I plunged it straight into the heart of the woman. She gasped instantly and I grinned as a trickle of blood spurted from the gaping wound, her eyes glowing red before Cacao released her and she fell dead along with the two goons. Leaning down, I ran a hand through Dean's short blond hair.
"Are you okay?" I asked, concern coursing through me as I noticed him groan and clutch at his chest in pain.
There were a few blood stains on his forest green shirt from the woman's fingernails but otherwise, he seemed fine. His emerald orbs locked onto mine and panting, he nodded. I sighed in relief before flicking my gaze to Sam who immediately turned away, striding over to the door.
"Your man, huh?" Dean asked suddenly then, making my gaze return to him.
He smirked up at me from where he lay and I rolled my eyes, blushing scarlet.
"Oh, shut up."
After telling Eleanor what happened and wishing her the best with the rest of her life, we were back on the road. Yasmin slept peacefully beside me, stretched out on the other half of the backseat. Her dark hair fanned out around her as she dreamed, making a brief smile grace my features before my attention was redirected to the boys' conversation.
"You know, I was thinking about what Randa said about, uh, you know, what it feels like to be a warrior. I get it, man, I do," Dean was saying, one hand on the steering wheel.
"I know. I know you do. I don't. Not anymore. Maybe I never did," Sam said in response.
Dean shook his head, "Come on, Sam, don't ruin my buzz, would you?"
"Dean, listen, when this is over - when we close up shop on Kevin and the tablet...I'm done. I mean that,"
My eyebrows hit my hairline but I said nothing in the darkness of the backseat.
"No, you don't,"
"Dean, the year that I took off, I had something I've never had,"
Dean glanced over at him expectantly then and Sam continued, "A normal life. I mean, I got to see what that felt like. I want that...I had that,"
He let out a slight humorless breathy laugh at the end, briefly glancing down at his hands.
"I think that's just how you feel right now." Dean told him, signalling the conversation was over as he returned his eyes back to the road.
But from the expression on Sam's face, I could tell it really wasn't. And I could almost tell what he was thinking of as I let my tired eyes finally flutter closed and dreamland overtook me.
"Parker? Parker, this isn't funny!" I heard Sam call out, "Parker!"
I just giggled though, biting my lip as I waited for him to come find me. I could hear his feet on the walkway nearby. A bird chirped overhead and a slight breeze ruffled my short black hair as I sat on the blanket spread out over the bright green grass of the park. Suddenly, I heard the sound of running feet and Sam rounded the corner. I grinned over at my best friend, spreading my arms wide as I indicated the food surrounding me on the picnic blanket.
"Happy Birthday!" I told him excitedly.
The look on his face was priceless - like he'd won the Lotto.
"What is this?" he asked, a bright smile lighting up his face.
I chuckled at him, "Come on, Sammy, don't you know a birthday cake when you see one? Sit. Eat!"
He shook his head in stunned disbelief as he began to sit down and I leaned over to grab a paper plate for him, the yellow sundress I wore stretching taught over my swollen stomach. I smiled then as he took a huge bite of his cake, laughing as he got the vanilla frosting on his nose and the sun beat down on us both.
