Episode: Season 7 - Survival of the Fittest

Things had been different ever since I told him. But in the best way possible. Surprising me even more, Dean had started to talk a lot about the baby and I could tell he was excited - more so than he let on. We were both still scared, of course but...together we had created life. And that was something worth celebrating in the hunter world. Even Sam was ecstatic, thrilled to be an uncle for the first time.

Even better, we found out...somehow, Cas had survived the Leviathan-possession. I don't know how but he had made it back. In all honesty, he was present but not all there - at least not in the head. But still, he was alive and well. And that was something we could all be happy for. But amidst all of this good news, we still had a job to do - take down Dick Roman and his horde of Leviathans. For good.

After several different attempts at figuring it out, including help from Crowley, we finally got what we needed. We were so close to killing this thing once and for all. Sadly, Bobby had been getting worse and worse - he'd even tried to choke Sam before he disappeared on us. Later that night, after we'd come back to the cabin though, Bobby had reappeared, asking us to burn the flask that was tethering him here. Needless to say, we'd all been broken up about saying our final goodbyes to him. Nevertheless, we had a job to do.

At Meg's behest, we took Cas with us on our mission to infiltrate the building. We need to split up though, cover more ground. We didn't have long before Dick would be sending out all those food additives all over the country. Dean didn't like the idea though - I could see it in his eyes.

"Dean, look, I'll be fine, okay? Sam will be with me," I reassured him, putting a hand on his forearm before squeezing it gently.

He clenched his jaw in frustration, hating this more and more. A second or two passed before finally, he consented and gave a slight nod.

"Alright. But you stick close to him, you hear me? And don't you dare do anything stupid or reckless... I...I need the both of you to be safe." he said, his words softening as his green eyes briefly traveled down to my tummy.

I smiled but nodded to his request before pressing my lips to his soft, velvet ones in a chaste kiss before we parted ways - me with Sam to find that new prophet, Kevin, and Cas with Dean to find Dick. Quietly, we made our way down the narrow white hall, keeping on our guard for any stray Leviathans.

"You okay?" Sam asked me for what must have been the millionth time.

I rolled my dark eyes at his over-protectiveness and nodded, "Of course, Sam. I'm fine. Just like I was fine when you asked me 2 minutes ago,"

A sigh escaped his mouth and he shrugged at me, eyes still darting around to make sure no one sneaked up on us.

"I know that, Parks. I'm just-" Sam started but I cut him off.

"-looking after me. I know, Sammy." I said softly, bumping his shoulder with mine as best I could with our height difference.

It didn't take long to find Kevin Tran, thank goodness. We were about to head back then to find Dean and Cas when a sudden commotion back down the hallway we'd come from reached our ears. My eyes flicked to Sam's and we shared a worried glance. They must have found him already. So together, with Kevin in tow, we all ran back to the source of the noise. I wasn't worried though - Dean could take care of himself, I knew. And as big and bad as Dick Roman was - he wasn't any worse than others we'd taken on before him. Not by a long shot.

As soon as we burst through the glass doors that opened up into the room they were in, Dean had already shoved the bone blade into his neck. Black blood oozed from the wound, trickling down his shirt collar and onto his suit as he groaned and screamed from the pain of it. I grinned despite myself. I knew he could do it.

My hand traveled down to my stomach then and I whispered just low enough so that Sam and Kevin wouldn't hear me, "See what an awesome daddy you have? He's always gonna protect you."

"Figured we'd have to catch you off guard," Dean shrugged, the hint of smirk tugging at his lips.

Without warning, Dick's Leviathan mouth opened up wide and he grimaced as he realized he couldn't open it wide enough to eat any of us. Nevertheless, a grin split his face - a sickening grin that put us all on edge. Then the air around him began to pulsate - vibrating as if their were energy crackling in the air. Faster and faster it whirled and I felt my heart begin to race with anxiety, my eyes connecting to Dean's green orbs. I frowned in confusion, not knowing what was going on. But I didn't have a chance to ask or even contemplate what my next move would be before Dick suddenly exploded.

Black goo shot everywhere and immediately, Sam shielded me from the effects. Then...silence. Complete and utter silence. I glanced up into Sam's face briefly before he let go of me and we turned to survey the damage. Icky black goo covered every imaginable surface that the eye could see. But...Dick wasn't there. Nor Cas for that matter. Or...Dean.

"Dean! Dean!" I shouted, spinning around frantically, swiveling my head around to look for him.

I could feel my heartbeat speed up in my chest and I began to panic. Where was he?!

"Sam! Sam, where did he go?! Where's Dean?! Where's Dean?!" I screamed, clawing at my hair as my eyes darteed around the room.

"Not to worry," a familiar deep voice spoke up suddenly and every head immediately turned in that direction, "I have a small army of demons outside. Cut off the head and the body will flounder, after all. Think if you'd had just one king since before the first sunrise you'd be in a kerfuffle too,"

Glancing over into the face of my father, I couldn't even must an ounce of relief. All I could think about was Dean - why he wasn't here, where he went, what happened.

"Which is exactly what you wanted," Sam growled at him.

Crowley shrugged, "So did you. Without a master plan, the Levis are just another monster. Hard to stomp, sure, but you love a challenge. Your job is to keep them from organizing,"

"Where's Dean?" I cut in, feeling dread rise up inside of me.

His dark eyes met my own but he only shrugged indifferently, "That bone has a bit of a kick. Weapons often do. Should put a warning on the box,"

"Where are they, Crowley?" Sam bit back at my father.

"Can't help you, Sam," he said before snapping his fingers, making two demons pop up out of nowhere, grabbing onto each of Kevin's arms, "Sorry, Sam, prophet's mine,"

In just another snap of his fingers, Kevin and the two demon bodyguards were gone. My eyes widened before finally, my surprise turned to anger.

"You got what you wanted. Dick's dead, saved the world. So I want one little prophet. Sorry, moose, wish I could help. You certainly got a lot on your plate right now. It looks like you are well and truly on your own." he said, his British accent sticking to every word as his eyes briefly flicked to mine at the end.

And with those last words, Crowley was gone, leaving Sam and I standing there - alone.

"He's...he's...Dean's-Dean's gone, Sam. He's gone. He's gone and he's not c-coming b-back-" I cut myself off, feeling panic envelope me from the inside out as I began to hyperventilate.

I could feel my breaths coming in ragged gasps as it all washed over me in a wave of horror mixed with anxiety and grief. Dean was gone. He was gone! What would I do now? Tears filled my eyes.

"Hey, hey, shh, Parker, it's gonna be okay-" Sam tried to say, stepping closer to me but I shoved him in the chest, knocking him back a step.

"NO! NO, IT'S NOT, SAM! IT WILL NEVER BE OKAY AGAIN! DEAN IS GONE!... HE'S GONE!" I screamed at the top of my lungs, letting the emotions take me over.

The tears came out in heaving sobs then as I crumpled to the floor, doubling over as I let everything out in an ear-piercing scream. It felt like I couldn't breathe, like I was dying. Like someone was trying to tear the heart right out of my chest, squeezing it so hard I thought it would burst. I barely felt Sam's arms go around me, gathering me into his chest as my own chest heaved up and down painfully. I buried my face into his plaid t-shirt, the agony of it all raining down on me like bricks as I squeezed my eyes shut.

All I'd ever wanted in that moment was nothing more - just to kiss him, just to taste him, feel his hands on my hips. He pulled me flush against him then and I gasped at the contact, my hands resting on his broad chest. I could feel his heart pounding in his chest, matching the rhythm of my own. As we kissed, we backed into the Impala and my back hit the hood as I lied down on it, Dean hovering over me. My fingers tangled in his short, blonde hair as I kissed him fervently, raindrops cascading down our faces.

My Dean was gone.
