THE LOST BOYS

GAMBIT COULDN'T HIDE HER excitement as she waited for the moon to dawn. Smiling to herself as she did her part of the chores, skipping each step to the market. This caused confusion between Belle and Quill, both shared a look.

Gambit has never been this happy. The short girl greeting all the people she passed a great morning, the smile never leaving her face. Her brunette locks shined under the sun with her cheeks hinted red, her smile threatened to split her face in half, Belle nudged Quill,

"Did something happen?"

"Beats me.."
Quill shrugged as Gambit sighs, turning around to them.

Her basket filled with fruits and vegetables alike, her white dress flowed against the wind as she linked arms with both Belle and Quill.

"I've bought enough, we can go home now--" the girl paused, her eyes glued to a certain brown haired boy with glasses, her mouth slightly ajar.

Weird, Belle thought, she's never recalled seeing that boy in her life before. Same with the boy from yesterday, the handsome one, in Belle's words--both boys talked with each other, as two more approached them. The four boys seemed like friends and weren't locals to their area, Bella decided they were just visiting.

But what has Gambit so allured to the boy? All of them are decently good looking, so she couldn't blame her--what's gotten her in a frenzy was Quill's expression. He's never liked any boys talking to his ladies, he said, the boy believes relationships are just a mess.
Belle and Quill looked at Gambit, seeing her unhook her arms as she walked towards the boy,

"That's new," Belle started, surprised Gambit had the guts to approach a boy, "She's never talked to a boy before."

"What am I? A roach?"

"You're a pansy."
Bella teased, making Quill roll his eyes.

The two watched as Gambit grabbed the attention of the male--smiling as he saw her, the two seemed familiar with each other, but not too familiar. As if they just had met, Quill thought, shoving his hands down his pockets.

"Not jealous are you?"
Belle tilted her head closer to Quill,

"No. Just wary.. He's too optimistic--or too friendly with her."

"They might be just friends. Gambit doesn't have that many outside the Orphanage, I'm sure she's excited to have a new friend who's not an orphan," Belle felt Quill huff a breath,

"But a boy? Really?"

"Oh don't be such a kill joy, leave the girl alone,"
Belle smiled, watching Gambit.

Gambit talked to the boy for a short while, as the boy intruduced her to his other friends. All welcomed her with open arms, a few kisses on the back of the hand--making Quill exhale deeply.

"Quill--oh my God.."
The older girl was too late, he had already approached them.

"Gambit! It's time to go now," Quill exclaimed, "Say bye to your friends."

Gambit knew what he was doing, but she compiled.

"I'll see you boys later," Gambit smiled, "Goodbye, Potter."

"Goodbye, Gaunt."
James waved her goodbye, his eyes following her figure as she went back to her other friends, the basket she carried hanging comfortably on her arm as Gambit stole another quick glance--eyes connecting with James for a second.

Sirius flung his arm, hitting James on the chest.

"Prongs! Gaunt?"
Sirius furrowed his eyebrows, as the other two boys stared at James intently.

"Ah, I forgot," James chuckled, walking backwards, "I might've met the child of Gaunt last night--"

"Yeah, no shit."
The tallest said as they followed James,

"Yeah--and she's completely new to our world. She never got the letter for Hogwarts, apparently. And now she sits in the Orphanage."

"Wait... You told her about the Wizarding world?!"
Remus asked in hushed tones, unable to hide his irritation.

"Calm down, Moony. She knew already but just doesn't know the basics--I mean, she knew she was a wizard," James explained,

"I do feel quite bad she's shunned away from her real identity," Peter added, "It may not be so bad introducing her to a few things that we consider normal."

Sirius nodded, agreeing as he saw beautiful ladies smiling at him,
"Right, well, she is a descendant of Salazar Slytherin.. Know who else is also the descendant of Salazar?"

The three looked at him, waiting for him to continue.

"That bloke Voldemort! The reason why she's hidden is probably because he might do something terrible to her or something,"

The group of boys understood. Already planning on how to steal her from the Orphanage.

Gambit waited patiently, looking down at the streets or looking up at the sky, waiting for James Potter..

I feel like Wendy, The girl chuckled to herself, seeing four figures stood in front of the Orphanage,

James got on his broom, flying quickly as he walked past Gambit, opening the door as he muttered words she couldn't quite understand.

"Wha--What did you do?"

"Nothing, just a simple charm. Now no one will know you're gone," James gave her a toothy grin, "Alright, let's go--"

"Wait..!"
Gambit resisted but it was useless.

James slipped his arm around her waist, his hand laid behind her knees as he carried her while they ride the broomsrick.

"You're strong," Gambit was surprised he could carry her with one arm,

"Yeah well, I am the Quidditch captain," James smiled triumphantly but noticed Gambit's confused look, "You don't know Quidditch?"

Gambit shook her head, smiling shyly as the air now got colder as the five of them fly above the clouds. The moon glowing ever so clearly in the dark blue sky, almost like a luminescent crystal. The soft mists of clouds touched her bare feet and skin as her body trembled closer to James, a little scared she'd fall but the boy reassured her.

His voice whispered against her ear as he talked about his sport--Quidditch--but Gambit couldn't help but smile as Sirius flew above them, riding his broom upside down as he made faces at her.

Giggling, Remus and Peter did tricks to impress the girl, and they succeeded every time--leaving her amazed each spin and zigzag they did.

James itched as he wanted to show off, but he can't or Gambit will fall off--but the girl asked him to do tricks.

"But you'll fall..!" James let out a laugh as Gambit insisted, "Alright, hold on tight love!"

He drove his broom forward, speeding past the others as he twisted his broom around, the two were upside down for a quick second before James turned up right again. Gambit cheered, letting out a woo-hoo! Her smile grew wider each second as James did tricks, her heart fluttering while her hand stretched to touch the clouds.

James remembered his promise from the other night,
"Gambit! Wrap your arms around my neck..!"

The girl complied, letting him rummage around his pocket as Gambit paid no mind to the box that said Chocolate frog on his hand.

"Here," James' hair wisped as the air blew against it, his hand gently brushing Gambit's hair behind her ears, "This is a Chocolate frog. Delectable treat among young wizards," he smiled as Gambit ate the sweets, her eyes shining with the moon light as the three boys stopped around the two.

"That's really good!"
Gambit let out an incredulous giggle,

"Yeah?"

"Yeah!"

James gave her the card accompanied with the chocolate, her finger wiped across the name,

"Albus Dumbledore.."
Her hand clutched on it, careful to not let it fly away with the wind.

The five wizards flew off, Gambit still unknown to where their destination was, but she didn't pay mind to it. Her blood rushed with adrenaline as she looked down at the neighboring houses below them, the people sleeping soundly as she had the best time of her life yet.
