Welcome to my art school!

••••

A/N: I am not, by any means, a professional artist. Art is definitely more of a hobby for me than a potential career choice. I have never and likely never will go to any sort of art school. I just thought something like this could be fun, and I thought some people might like to hear what I have learned over the past year or so 😃

A/N 2: This "school" is geared toward digital artists. I draw on an iPad with the program ProCreate. I'm not saying that you CAN'T follow the lessons if you're a paper-pencil artist, but the assignments and advice are going to be geared more towards digital artists.

A/N 3: I mainly draw cats and some demon girls here and there. I will try to make the lessons and assignments as versatile as possible so that, no matter what you like to draw, you can participate. But this is just a heads up because I will likely talk in terms of cats or people most of the time.

Without further ado, let's get on with the details so we can get this rolling!

Terms
There will be a few terms in this book that I just want to make clear before we begin.

Unit A collection of lessons and assignments. One unit usually equals one final art piece. They take a few weeks to complete.

Lesson Bits of advice or explanations about a topic. At least one lesson will come before every assignment. On the days when lessons are posted, there will not be an assignment that day. (If you read this entire chapter, use your favorite warrior cat character the password on the form page)

Assignment A step of an art project that you, the students, will complete. Examples include "starting a sketch" and "coloring." They usually come after a lesson or two, and are due a week from the day they are assigned. (Ex. Say you are given an assignment today, Tuesday, Feb. 9. The assignment would be due next Tuesday, Feb. 16.)

This next bit is very important.

This "art school" will be based around a Google Classroom that I have created. In case you are unfamiliar, Google Classroom is an app that allows teachers to assign their students with work that they can turn in. For further details, I suggest googling in as I am not an expert.

If you are accepted into my "art school" (which you will be unless space fills up), I will pm you the link to the Google Classroom. That is where I will post your assignments with slots to turn them in. Don't worry, nothing is going to be graded by skill level. It's just a completion grade so I can keep track of who isn't turning things in.

I'm sure you're all dying to know by know. "Willow, what is the schedule? Where are the forms? What sort of things will we be doing here?"

To answer these questions:

1.) The schedule is in the next chapter!
2.) Forms are below the schedule!
3.) Well, I'll tell you right now!

In the first unit, we will be doing a very basic, introductory set of assignments. A few of these include setting up a collection of inspirational things, drawing a basic sketch, and coloring! Super basic and simple things. I promise, nothing in this book will be terribly challenging, and I'll give you plenty of time to do the longer assignments.

Reasons for you to be removed from the class

- Rude comments, bullying, cussing, and other things of the nature

- Going one whole month without responding to any of the lessons or turning in any assignments. If you contact me beforehand and tell me you won't be active, that's fine, and if something came up, then just tell me when you get back and I'll get you caught up.

- Drawing inappropriate things. Sorry, but I'm not comfortable with... certain things (You know what I mean). So please, don't turn any of that stuff in for your assignments.

••••

And... I think that about wraps it up! I hope you have fun and maybe learn a thing or two! 😉
