CHAOS was a known factor when it came to Norse mythology. In everyday life you witness chaos whether it be in person, or through a news outlet or social media. But in Norse in particular, it was a commonly known group of beasts that sided with the giants and fought against the gods. A more known ones would be the Midgard serpent, the Fenrir wolf, and the Hellhound.
From the days' prior incidents left Viola unnerved, but not only her but her older brother and also a certain Jutul.
Fjor sat next to the broken table as last nights events flashed in his head much like a home movie.
He ran his thumb. against his lip as he looked down to the floor. His free hand's thumb traced the blue calcite gently before he shut his palm around it tightly.
His hazel eyes fell onto the burning flames ahead of him.

"Aurgelmir! Stop before we get caught." A feminine voice whispered to the beaming brunette.
"Why must we?" He asked as he trapped the petite woman against a large Oak tree, her doe eyes met his own. "My father thinks I'm out down by the lake as yours believes you're picking flowers in the fields." He said as she scrunched up her nose at him.
"That's not funny." She uttered looking up at the boy who gazed down at her with soft eyes, he brought his hand up to the side of her face and placed the loose curl of her white hair behind her ear.
Seeing him distracted with one swift movement, she ducted under the giant and grabbed the sword around his waist, and spinning him around as the blade was held against his throat.
His stunned eye met her amused ones, "I'm tired of picking flowers." She said as he smiled. She dropped the blade and handed it to him.
"You're Odin's prized possession, the princess, the future of Edda." He recited as she rolled her eyes at his words, "Hela Odinsdottir." He said her name placing his hands on the sides of her face, "Future queen of the underworld." Aurgelmir whispered as a frown adorned his lips. "The eternal flame to my heart."
Hela smiled at his words though it slowly fell, "Why are you upset?"
Aurgelmir pulled away and walked over to a vacant bench that looked over the city, Hel followed his movements and took a seat next to him on the stone bench.
"War is coming." He noted as she listened, "I'm just not sure this is the correct way to do things," Hela looked at him incredulously. "Perhaps I can speak to my father, reason with him that we can live in peace and you won't have to go against your brothers and we won't have to sneak off to spent an hour with one another." He explained taking her hand in his, "We could -- we could go into town willingly and be seen." He said with a longing look, "They'd see it's possible for a god and giant to be at peace and -- and in love without looking at one another in hatred like they do."
Hela took her hands back and looked away from the giant, "They will never agree to it." She denied. Aurgelmir looked down, "You can't be so naive to think they'd listen to us? They'll put you in exile if they find out you're here." She looked at Aurgelmir in anger, "They'll never accept a giant and a God, don't be stupid." Hela snapped standing up and walking over to the side looking off to the city.
Aurgelmir frowned, "Is it such naivety to believe that maybe we can give peace and hope to those who are faithless in a time like now?" Hela looked ahead of them both as the two now stood observing the city and the waters that surrounded their city. Large boats were being docked and set sail. "Are you sure that this is what you want?" Hel frowned, "Fear?"
Her eyes scanned the city, it was quiet, other than birds chirping and the cool breeze that made the trees dance every few minutes. It was much different, and she knew silence would reap the city in a matter of the next year, for her coronation. She'd officially be ruler of the underworld and turning her back to her family, but this was the only way, the only way to peace.
"Hela?" Aurgelmir Placed his hand on her shoulder gently pulling her from her deep thoughts.
Her eyes hardened, "Let it be fear."

"War council." Vidar's voice broke Fjor's wondering thoughts as he looked over to his father seeing him place an axe on the table with narrowed eyes.
Fjor stood up and walked over, "Shouldn't there be a war first?" He inquired, his jaw tightening.
"We agree that there hasn't been one like him for a thousand years. Now, Hela or a reincarnation of her has appeared out of nowhere and it just so happens she has two brothers like Hel had centuries ago? This isn't a coincidence." Vidar denied looking from his son to his wife.
"You don't even know if she's like him. Never mind what they are, if Viola is apart of Hela's bloodline it's good for us." Ran chimed in.
"No, but last night proved he can do things humans can't do. Which means she isn't far behind, and if she is like you said apart of her lineage, she can do far worse. Therefore, they're from the Old World."
"You think they're one of them?" Saxa asked.
"That's impossible. They all died back then." Ran denied, Fjor looked between the three silently. "You killed her."
"Impossible? Explain why there are four of them working at the station as we speak." Vidar remarked.
"They've agreed to live under our terms." Ran shrugged him off.
"And you don't think they haven't spoken to either Magne or Viola? I saw her at the station talking to Heimdall. She knows them, whether she knows who they are or not, she has a relation to them. We can't trust they won't tell her anything." Vidar retorted.
Saxa looked between her parents, "It was a huge battlefield, total chaos. How do you know for sure?"
"Because I ripped her head off myself." Vidar said proudly, the tone alone made Fjor want to crack his jaw with the amount of pressure he put as he grinded his teeth together. Images of the horrific day flashed in his mind, he shut his eyes briefly.
Ran shook her head, "Since the great battle, there hasn't been anyone other than us, and them--"
"Even more reason for us to bring this forth to action." Vidar said slamming his hand down on the ax's hilt as did Saxa.
"All eyes are on us. We must know who and what they are, before we do anything. Especially with Viola." Ran explained.
Vidar looked to his son, "The axe waits for you to choose a side, Fjor." Fjor looked at the ax then to his father, "Just like back then."
Fjor reluctantly let his hand hover over the axe, a thought came into mind. "What if he's like us? Viola too. They'd both be the closest ally we've ever had since . . ." He trailed off as Vidar eyed him, "I'm getting close with Viola, we should figure it out before we go to war."
Ran hit her hand on the table twice agreeing with her son, "They're just children, Vidar."
VIOLA looked ahead of her as the city of Edda sat before her, she brought her knees up to her chest. Last night replayed in her mind, Fjor, Ran, Thor and the mead, the table breaking. Everything was a mess in the raven haired girl's mind. Not to mention her brother had tried convincing her her was some supernatural being, aka Thor.
The thought was laughable to Viola, however if it was two months ago it would have been. Now she wasn't so sure.
Hearing movement behind her sparred a glance over seeing a head of blonde hair, Magne. She continued looking ahead of her she reached for her neck only to remember she had somehow lost her necklace, Ellisif wasn't going to have her head, she thought.
Magne sat next to his sister silently before he decided on speaking up. "I just knocked a tree down." He said as she nodded.
"I heard." She said referring to the loud bang she had heard minutes prior, she felt as if she was losing her mind with how calm she was reacting; maybe they've both lost their minds.
"Do you still think I'm crazy?" Magne asked his sister who shrugged.
"I don't know what to think." She admitted as he frowned at her words, "Honestly, I don't." She nodded rubbing at her reddened nose, "I don't know what I saw yesterday, or -- what's going on with that family, or you, or me." Magne nodded in understanding, "I just wanna leave." She whispered.
The blonde placed his arm around his sister's shoulders and pulled her into his side as the two stared ahead of them to the city in silence.

The door shut behind the two Seiers as they entered the small house, and were met with their mother and brother.
"We're talking about the dinner yesterday. Were there many guests or just you?" Turid asked her children.
"Just us." Magne answered pouring himself some cereal.
Laurits looked to his sister and handed her a bowl, she silently took it, he frowned at her odd behaviour, she hadn't said a word to him. Though he knew she was upset with him but normally her silent treatment would last a day if that, he wondered what exactly was wrong with the two.
"So?" Laurits asked referring to the two abruptly leaving the house.
"Just needed some air." Magne answered for both him and Viola.
Laurits looked at the two skeptically knowing there was more to the story.
"What did they wear?" Turid inquired, "Was it very formal or a bit more on the casual side?" Their mother asked, "Actually, she's never really very casual." She said referring to Ran Jutul. "But did you have a good time?"
"It was fine." Viola said shortly as her twin looked between the two wondering why they didn't tell her about the broken table and the drinking.
"She's gonna find out about it anyway." He said lowly with a hint of a mischievous smirk to Magne who ate his cereal with narrowed eyes at his younger brother.
"I got a little drunk yesterday, mom." Magne admitted as Laurits' brows rose slightly. Turid however hummed not hearing her son fully, she looked up at her children, "I got a little drunk."
Turid asked in disbelief, "You were drinking?"
Laurits nodded, "Yeah, they served, uh, wine and booze and champagne and . . ."
"Mead." Magne finished.
Turid looked at the three incredulously. "Mead? Are you kidding me?"
"Yeah, but, mom, don't forget that they're so much more international." Laurits added. "Just 'cause they live in a little dump in Norway, doesn't mean that they . . ." He trailed off defending them as well as his brother, "And so what if Magne had a bit too much?"
"I'm not hungry." Viola announced before standing up and going to her room.
"But you haven't eaten--" Turid began only to see her already gone.
"Time of the month." Laurits shrugged simply as Turid nodded unsurely to him, "It's a twin thing."

i would have updated on sunday but i had a massive hangover from saturday 'cause my antisocial ass went clubbing with friends, so didn't get to do that. and yesterday i spent the day re--editing my AEW & NXT fics on NEPTUNESBARNES a lot of manips were deleted but it's fine cause the new ones turned out better (usurpingly enough), but i am still bitter bout it
โข any questions about the story so far?
viola's old life will start to reveal more as she speaks with Fjor in the next chapters leading up to the final episode of S1, so if you're wondering about her involvement with the Jutuls that will be explained, how she was supposed to die but her spirit lived on etc will be explained in either flashbacks and when fjor exposes the truth to her in the final episode โก
also i wasn't sure what fjor's real name was in the viking ages so i just googled his name and Aurgelmir came up so Fjor's name will be Aurgelmir (much like the book he had given her in the beginning of the story) in the 790--1100 CE viking age flashbacks !
