Emotions Clouding

A/N - enjoy the fluff while you can guys... because soon it's just pure angst...

In a very familiar temple, Osiris is seen walking in the hallway, the candles flickering to light up the place. He holds a stone statue where Khonshu was being held and he makes his way to where many other stone statues were. He places the newest one in a empty space, one where another statue once shared with Khonshu. The god turns to walk away, leaving the temple.

"Come on, wake up." (Y/N) whisperers, her voice rough from the crying she has done. The girl now starting to pick up Steven's unconscious body with Layla's help.

Just then, car lights flickered in their faces which made (Y/N)'s heart rate pick up, a bad feeling rising up.

"Shit! We gotta go." Layla muttered to the other girl as they keep low.

(Y/N) goes to pick up Steven's body, herself groaning trying to lift him up. Suddenly, gunshots were fired making the girls gasp in alarm.

The (H/C) haired falls on her ass, waving Layla to go first down the sand dune who does reluctantly. She then rolls herself with Steven's body secured in her arms, his head resting on her chest as she places a protective hand behind his head. The two of them rolling down the hill and she groaned once they stopped, her taking the hard fall instead of her best friend.

"We've gotta hide!" Layla whisperer yells, grasping (Y/N)'s arms who has placed Steven down onto the sand.

She shakes her head frantically, voice trembling, "W-we can't leave him-"

"He would want you safe! He'd kill myself if anything bad happened to you!" Layla exclaimed quitely, trying to reassure her and tugged on the girls arms to follow.

(Y/N) bites her bottom lip, taking a shaky glance at Steven's body and nods. Layla gives a firm nod back, knowing how hard it was for her to leave him defenceless. She grips the (H/C) haired girls hand and they both get up, sprinting towards their car and hides behind the side of it.

The car lights shine brightly as the enemies car gets closer to the girls and Steven unconscious body. Layla quickly pulls (Y/N) along with her, them both getting to the back of the truck, opening the door and both slid next to each other inside as the other car arrived.

"I saw two people running!" A man speaks in arabic to someone else.

"Check around the truck." A different male's voice speaks in arabic, the girls peaking outside seeing the other car looking around their truck for them.

(Y/N) releases a small whimper seeing the car's lights on Steven, her heart pounding rapidly not knowing what would happen to him.

"Looks like he's dead." The first guys says in arabic still, obsering Steven's body.

Layla frowns hearing the girls whimper. She glances around inside the truck to try and find something, something to get Steven back to (Y/N). She then spots flares in a bag, an idea goes off in her brain.

She turns to see (Y/N) already looking at her, terror swirling around in her eyes but understood what the idea was. "You ready?" Layla asked softly.

The latter sniffled and nods. A determined expression taking over her features as she grabs the flare from Layla, the girl getting out and lite the object, it now burning a bright red.

"Turn! turn! There she is!" The second males voice speaks as he hits the trucks roof. Just as the truck turns around, they start firing guns making (Y/N) grunt and place her free hand, creating a white energy force field around her and Layla.

She backs them up behind the car again as the sound of the gun cocking is heard. The enemies car approaches where the girls were, for them to only find them gone and the lite flare left.

(Y/N) comes out from the other side of the truck, letting out a small yell as she throws a ball of white energy at the bullets inside the enemies truck. The back of the truck then explodes with fire going everywhere as it rolls away with the enemies yelling out in alarm.

She exhales shakily seeing the truck no harm to them, glancing at Layla to see her smiling weakly, no injures on her which was good.

(Y/N)'s heart picks up in panic not seeing Steven's body where it was, she glances around frantically to only stop when she sees him staring around the area confused.

She lets out a tiny sob, a teary smile making it onto her face seeing him alive and awake. She wastes no time and runs into his arms, startling the male who almost fell back at her sudden hug. "W-woah-"

She wraps her arms around his waist, bringing her hands up to grasp at his white hoodie, burying her face into his neck as a strangled noise left her mouth.

"Hey, hey... it's okay m'love.." Steven whispers in a soft, caressing maner hearing the noise. One trembling hand tangling in her hair to bring her body closer as the other slides around her back, tightly. Their bodys impossible closer to one another, leaving no gap between the two.

"I thought-" She heaves through a sob, tears blurring her vision as she sees his brown eyes looking at her, strong emotion shining. "God, I thought I would-"

Steven hushs her with a gentle squeeze, removing the hand from her waist but kept the other in her hair. He cupped her cheek in a strong, warm hand, rubbing his thumb over her cheek to wipe away her salty tears. "M'okay, your okay." He says in a raw voice, letting out a long, unsteady breath. "We're okay.."

(Y/N) breathe in shakily, leaning her cheek into his warm palm more as his thumb rubbing continued. "We're okay.." She repeated, closing her eyes momentarily.

Steven brings her forehead close, pressing his lips against the skin and left a hard, passionate kiss. Letting his touch linger as he scrunched his eyes closed, drowning in her warmth. She also closed her eyes, lips quivering slightly as she relished in his loving comfort.

Layla smiled gently seeing the pair comforting each other. She knew (Y/N) would be in safe hands with both males.

"We can't lose more time. Harrow must be headed back to the tomb." Layla says from the back of the car, the sun currently rising up as (Y/N) drives with Steven in the front with her.

"Look, if he is, we're gonna need Marc, yeah?" (Y/N) tells Steven gently, side glancing him. She didn't want to talk to Marc, but if it meant keeping her best friend safe then so be it.

"Exactly. See, she gets it." Marc's voice is heard, the male in the side mirrors reflection.

"No." He grumbles.

"No?" (Y/N) sceptically repeats, keeping her focus on driving the vehicle.

"No. See, the thing is, we made a deal, Marc and I, that when he was done with Khonshu, he should disappear for good." Steven explains to both girls, gripping (Y/N)'s free hand that was holding his on his thigh.

"But that deal didn't involve you getting (Y/N) and us killed, did it? That's not gonna fly with me." Marc informs him in a dark voice while Steven stares at his reflection talking.

"You guys made a deal? That he would just disappear from my life before getting my memories back?" (Y/N) asked appalled, herself getting upset at both males as she removed hand hand from Steven's, "And you didn't think that maybe I shouldn't been made aware of that?"

Steven frowns softly as this while Marc gives the british male a hard look.

"Oh. Well, hadn't he disappeared from your life already?" Her best friend stated strongly, eyes searching her face.

(Y/N) sighs heavily and nods. "Yeah. I mean whatever, no point in wanting something I can't have."

Marc's heart dropped hearing this. Pushing that aside, even if it pained him, he grumbled out, "Steven, give me the body right now. This is a suicide mission.

"Plus, I'm pretty sure he'd wanna lone wolf this whole thing. It's not happening. We're not gonna do that." (Y/N) states then smiles a little at her best friend and Layal who gives one back.

"We are not. It's just you and me, and the open road." Steven says comfortable and then his body jolts forward slightly as (Y/N) hits the breaks.

"We're gonna go on foot from here." Layla tells them and gets out of the truck, opening (Y/N)'s door and helped her out. The trio now gathering their stuff and started walking in a little pathway through a massive rock.

The (H/C) haired girl currently feeling very out of place as they continued their walking, her staying close to Steven just in case.

They all reached the top and stopped just close to edge, seeing Harrow's men down near the entrance. "There they are. Let's keep moving." (Y/N) says from in front of the group, tightening her bag traps on her shoulders.

"It looks like they're already inside. We'll need to find another way to beat them to Ammit." Layla continues as they carefully make their way down a rocky pathway.

Once Steven made it to the bottom, he turned around and held out a hand for (Y/N) to take.

She smiled a little and grabbed his outstretched hand, the male helping her down safely. Once her boots made it onto the sand, she squeezed his hand and then let go, following Layla through an abandoned camp site, most likely pretty fresh as there was smoke from a put out fire still.

"Hello." Steven cutely greeted the camels as they walked past them and his best friend found that adorable hearing it.

The trio all met in the middle, glancing at an entrance that had stuff around it, probably been used from other expeditions.

"Let's check for supplies." (Y/N) says to them, giving Steven's shoulder a squeeze and followed Layla to a tent. Her best friend watched her leave till she was out of his eyesight.

Steven made his way into a tent, opening up the flap and scanned the room for anything useful. He walked over towards a makeshift bed, picking up a water canister, shaking it and threw it back down as it was empty.

He then moved to the table, picking up a weirdly shaped torch. Finding another one and took that also.

"You look scared." Marc's voice was back, his face in the reflection of the table.

"I'm not." Steven muttered, turning on the flashlight in his face as he squinted his eyes at the light, quickly shutting it off.

"Well, you should be. Without Khonshu, there's no more suit, no more healing, no more power." Marc listed off.

"Yeah, no more you, I thought. It's what you said, innit?" Steven interrupted, placing the lights in his bag. "But believing anything that comes out of your mouth just shows what a plonker I am."

"Look, I wish I could just disappear. I really do." Marc tells him, his thoughts however drifting back to his fiancée, making his heart ache thinking about leaving her for the second time. "But unfortunately, I'm still here. And if you're gonna go through with this, you gotta be smart," He made eye contact with Steven, his words coming out more demanding, "For (Y/N)'s sake."

"I've been in situations like this before." He continued.

"So have I. It's the same body, innit?" Steven gestures to his body, "It's in there somewhere. Muscle memory and that." He says confidently.

Marc gives him a indiscreet look, "I'm not sure it works that way. Just.." He trails off.

Steven throws his hands in the air, waving him off and went to walk away. "Whatever."

"I'm here. You're not alone." Marc says and the british male stops at that.

"I know I'm not alone." Steven snaps, turning around to the other male. "I know I'm bloody not alone. I've got (Y/N)." When he says her name, his voice is filled with deep passion and adoration. "She's got my back."

Marc's blood boiled hearing this, glaring at the british male, "Are you in love? Are you in love with my fiancée?" His voice was filled with jealousy, with venom, unlike Steven's soft voice.

"Yeah? So what If I am?" Steven grumbled back, himself matching Marc's possessiveness with (Y/N). He looks into the mirror's reflection, not backing down. "I appreciate your concern, mate. I really do."

"You lay one finger on her-" Marc growled out, his jealousness rising badly.

"But we've got it from here." Steven finished, talking over the other male.

"I swear to you, Steven. I swear I'll-"

"If I need a recipe for a protein shake or something, I'll call you." The british male says sarcastically as he walks out of the tent.

"I'll throw us off a cliff!" Marc yells his threat just as the other male left. He let out an angry groan, knowing he had no power to stop them from being together.

Both these men, all three men having something in common though. Despite their differences, they were all unconditionally, irrevocably in love with the same girl. (Y/N).

In another tent, Layla and (Y/N) were finishing off packing their bag full of supplies. Once they finished they both walked out, completely unaware of the blood and weapon laying on the ground.

"I have to say, I feel like I've been waiting for this my whole life." Steven says in a breathy tone as (Y/N) was placing the harness on his body, currently kneeling down to help it up his legs. "The adventure, I mean." He quickly clarifies seeing his best friends confused face.

She stood up and gave him a cheeky smile. She then starts to tighten the harness around his waist, their hips and chest brushing up against each other. "I know. We want what we never had." She whispered near his ear.

"Yeah." He whispered back and when (Y/N) spoke, her voice was so close to his ear that he took a sharp intake of breath. Her face turned to be near his neck as she continued fixing up his equipment.

The (H/C) haired girl lifted her face up, her eyes making eye contact with Steven's puppy dog ones. Their faces being drawn to each other again as they could feel every breath the other made.

Her heart started pounding faster seeing his eyes flickering back and forth between her lips and eyes. Her hands now slowly travelling to rest just above his hip, bringing them closer.

"Marc's trying to protect you from Khonshu, from the truth." He quickly blurted out seeing how close they have gotten. "That's why he pushed you away."

"I- we won't let that happen." He continued his statement, searching her face for any reaction.

(Y/N) released a heavy exhale, an hurt emotion washing over her face hearing his words as she squeezed his body with trembling hands.

Steven sensing her uneasiness brought up his hands and placed them on her hips, thumbs caressing her sides. "It's all right. I just felt like you should know that."

She turned away slightly and grabbed the gloves off the rock, letting go of his sides and started placing the material over her hands. The male still keeping his hand placement up.

"Sorry." He gently muttered, his dark eyes watching her closely.

She shakes her head and pursed her lips, turning back around to her best friend. "Why are you telling me this now?"

He pauses for a few seconds, his caressing coming to a stop. "I don't know. I just thought you deserved to know."

She sighs through her nose and her lips form into a straight line. "Well, it wasn't his call to make. I don't need protection. What I need it honesty." She says, glancing down at her boots away from Steven's eyes.

"Yeah. I get that." He muttered in a thick voice.

"That's more of 'you' thing, isn't it?" She says with a sad smile on her face, still avoiding eye contact as she buckled the clip onto Steven's harness.

"What? Being... Honesty?" He says in an unsure voice, wanting to see her eyes as she continued to glance down.

(Y/N) scoffs with a strained smile, pausing her movement with his equipment. "Yeah. being honesty."

A warm and rough hand suddenly lifted her chin, making her look up and met Steven's emotion filled gaze. His pointer finger and thumb holding her chin up to meet his gaze, bringing her closer towards his body.

She gasped gently and placed her hands flat out onto his chest. The look he was glancing down at her with made her heart burst with affection.

The tension between the best friends rising at a fast rate when Steven released her chin, travelling a trembling hand down to place it behind her neck, bringing her impossible closer.

(Y/N)'s eyelashes fluttered when she felt his warm breath against her lips. Her hands grasping onto his hoodie materiel tightly, afraid she would collapse with overcome emotion.

Steven placed his forehead onto hers, nose gently bumping against hers, a gesture for her to open her beautiful eyes for him to admire and see. "(Y/N).."

The way his british accent called her voice sent a shiver down her spin. The girl trying to keep her emotions together hearing his tender voice, she squeezed her eyes shut tight and placed her nose beside his, leaving it there and exhaled heavily. "I'm gonna go down first." She whispered in a wavery voice.

He frowned at this. He rubbed his thumb across her jaw and moved his nose so the tip and bridge rested against her, trying to ease her - knowing she was afraid of opening herself open to someone else. "Alrigh' darling..."

Her lips quivered slightly, opening her eyes and moved away from his protective hold. The (H/C) haired girl wanting nothing more to have her best friend, but she was still confused - still wanted answers. "I'll see you down there." She gave him a weak smile, her heart hurting seeing his defeated face and stance.

He gave her a pained smile back, biting back his tears as she watched her jump down into the rocky cave.

"What was that?!" Steven heard Marc's voice hiss in his mind, "You can't just pull that shit with her!"

"She's hurting because of you!" Steven bit back angrily, pointing an accusing finger in the air.

"I know that! No need to remained me!" Marc's voice yelled back, breathing becoming shaky knowing Steven was right.

"Bloody idiot.." The british male mumbled. After a few seconds of silence, Steven thought the other male's voice was gone until his body twitched, his eyes rolling back momentarily and then his own hand punched him in the face. "Oh, shi-!"
