Kathy's Past - Part 2

Bored.

Bored.

Bored.

That was my current emotional status at the moment. I was so bored. I had done all my homework and now I was listening to the music blasting out of the stereo installation, but I had to do something. I let out a desperate sigh while I stared at the clock which was hanging at the wall in front of me. It looked like as if the minutes were going slower with the second. Maybe Pyro had nothing to do either? But then I remembered he had detention this saturday and I sighed again. That boy always got himself into trouble.

I averted my gaze from the clock to the window and decided to go outside. It was a beautiful day for the month of May. I put on my shoes and grabbed my leather jacket before I teleported downstairs to the hall. I walked to the front door and when I walked passed the living room, I glanced inside but I supposed most were still working on their homeword because I saw no one inside. Well, there were a few persons but none of them I really knew so I opened the door and stepped outside. I walked towards a bench at the edge of the basketball field and set myself down on it, closing my eyes whilst enjoying the warm strays of the sun.

I opened my eyes again and started to move my foot on some imaginative rhythm. I was still bored. What to do when all your friends are in detention or are still too busy to do something else? With a loud poof I teleported back inside, suddenly getting a thought. I grabbed my wallet and threw it in my black backpack. I was going to town, I knew we weren't supposed to head out alone but what could possibly go wrong? Being locked up all the time in a huge mansion, couldn't be healthy. I supposed that was why I was so bored. I just had to be in another environment for a few hours.

I pictured the restroom of the museum we had once visited with an excursion and in a dark grey cloud I disappeared again. Being able to teleport was very handy. The museum was set in the center of the town and since I had no other points of recognition, because you see, I had to have seen the places before I was able to teleport to them, the museum was the only thing I could think of without traveling by public transport. If there was one thing I hated, it were subways and busses. Well, that actually were two things but you got the idea.

I fixed my hair, looking in the mirror hanging across from the restrooms and I opened the door. I had only set a few paces when I started to notice people were staring at me with big eyes. I looked down at my shoes in curiosity, perhaps I had some toilet paper under it and that was why the people were looking? Yeah, believe me or not but sometimes I was awkward like that, but there was nothing under shoe.

"Mommy," I heard a little child whispering and she pulled her mother's coat while pointing at me. "What is that?"

I faltered in my pass, suddenly feeling very exposed. Surely they had seen mutants before, right? Mutants were everywhere, perhaps that little child was even one. But then, maybe I was a very notable mutant with my grey skin and... Oh no, I had forgotten to hide my tail. That was why everyone was pointing at me. Even though I had thought humans were used to mutants, I had learned from my professors humans can feel very threatened when one looks very different from normal people. Don't aks me why, they just did. I wanted to turn back to the restroom to hide my tail in my trousers but when I turned around I saw some security guards coming my way. Shoot, I spinned back the other way and started to run in the direction the exit. Security guards couldn't do me anything when I was not in the museum, at least, so I hoped. I run through the hinged doors and glanced back over my shoulder, they were still following me. I started to run as fast as I could and dodged people whilst doing so. Some uttered frightened screams when they saw me and I started to realize why we weren't allowed to leave the mansion by ourselves. Perhaps when we were going at excursions professor X let the humans think we're normal, clouding their thoughts. It would be the only explanation because I had seen humans before but none of them had acted strange when they had seen me. I had made a terrible mistake by coming here by myself. I shot into an alley and was about to teleport back to the school when someone grabbed me by my arm. I halted my powers and snapped my head to the person who was holding me.

"What do you want?" I hissed and the man next to me had an evil grin on his face.

"Hunting monsters has never been this easy," he stated and I realized something ever far worse than my first shock of people weren't used to mutants. There were even mutant hunters and I had just met one.

My eyes grew big of shock and I tried to get my arm loose. "Let me go!" I shouted in panic. I couldn't teleported away with him holding me, then he would find the mansion which was full with mutants. It would be his lucky day and I couldn't let that happen. His grip around my wrist tightened and I tried not to let out a scream of pain. He took out a shiny big knife and I stopped struggling, staring with horror at the knife. What was he going to do? Was he just going to kill me in plain daylight? Someone would notice, right? His hand holding the knife suddenly shot towards me and my breath caught in my throat, he was going to kill me! Right here and now!

But then everything around me froze, not even a sound was heard. My limbs were trembling but it looked like the man was unable to move. Time had been frozen just before the knife could have pierced me through. My breath was straggling and I pulled my wrist out of his hand. I turned around and noticed the persons behind me.

"Professor... I -,"

Professor X pierced me with a stern look and my voice trailed off. "There is a reason why students aren't allowed to leave the school by themselves."

"I'm sorry," I said with a small voice and I let my head hang. I had messed everything up. If it wasn't for professor X, I had been dead by now.

Professor Grey motioned to me to come over and we walked to the jet. Everything around us was still frozen in time due to professor X his powers. We stepped inside and flew back to the school. One thing was for certain, I wasn't going to be bored for a long time.

A/N: I was thinking of this gif of Sherlock during the start of writing this (Dunno if you all know Sherlock, but when he's bored he shoots the wall... Really, I'm serious).

Don't you girls just love the new multimedia function? I know I do :)
