SEASON ONE, EPISODE ELEVEN
To Riverdale and Back Again

──────────❝ 🐍 ❞──────────

──────────❝ 🐍 ❞──────────

People like to say that the death of Jason Blossom changed everything.
But certain things, certain traditions never change.

Take Homecoming for instance.

Though Jason's jersey had been retired, the Riverdale Bulldogs would still be playing their arch-rivals, the Baxter High Ravens, with the River Vixens cheering them on.

As in previous years, graduates from days of Riverdale Past come to town to relive their more youthful, more carefree days.
Or to make up for lost time.

"So that's a no on supporting the Homecoming weekend?" Isabella asked her father as she leaned against the counter in their family kitchen. "Precisely. I'm sure it's great but I don't wanna be there as I know my brother might," Christian warned causing Isabella to roll her eyes at the thought of her uncle Daniel showing up with his prissy wife. "Okay... I mean, I'm only going to the Homecoming dance because I promised Betty and Veronica ages ago," Isabella told her father with a sigh, her attention taken by Jughead walking down the stairs towards them.

"What about you, Jughead? Homecoming dance?" Christian asked with a teasing grin knowing that the event was not Jughead's scene. "Uh, not usually my scene," Jughead replied while looking at Isabella who nodded in understanding. "Like I said, I'm going for Betty and Veronica, despite being annoyed with them," Isabella gritted her teeth, she remembered the look on her mother's face when she revealed that the town knew about her condition and while it saved the longer trips to Greendale; it meant people were changing their behaviour to suit their chances of forgiveness in death rather than the kindness of their hearts.

"Well, try to have fun anyway. Maybe Jughead could escort you, suffer together," Christian said with a wink before walking out leaving the couple alone. Jughead walked over to Isabella, standing in front of her, placing his hands on her waist. "Do you... I don't know... want to go with me? I mean... one night of misery could be altered with you by my side," Isabella asked Jughead who leaned down and kissed her. "One time," Jughead told her as he pulled back. "Just this one dance and I'll never force you to another," Isabella told him before kissing him again, a smile on her face that made Jughead swoon.

Isabella sat between Jughead and Betty at their usual outside bench while Archie, Veronica and Kevin sat on the other side of the table. "Sorry to interrupt but I have an announcement to make," Cheryl's sickly sweet tone caught the table's attention, Isabella glared at the red bitch completely uninterested in anything she had to say. "One that tangentially involves you, Betty," She looked straight at the blonde as she spoke. "I'm bringing Polly to the dance as my date and we're campaigning as co-queens of Homecoming Court," Cheryl told them causing Betty to perk up. "Because why?" Betty asked her.

"Because, Nightmare Smurfette, by all rights, it should've been Polly and Jason on that stage being crowned. This is the next best thing," Cheryl answered her with a duh tone before looking at the rest of the table, "So don't forget to vote, and I'll see everyone at my coronation!" Cheryl walked away from the group while Isabella rolled her eyes and rested her head on Jughead's shoulder. "Yay, the wicked witch of the west is gone," Isabella muttered making Jughead grin. "Betty, about the Homecoming Dance, can I play a couple songs? I kind of told my mom that..." Archie trailed seeing Betty's hesitant expression, "Whoa, you don't want me to?"

"No, no, it's not that, Archie. It's just, um..." Betty trailed off before continuing, "This dance needs to be fun. And your songs, as amazing as they are--" Jughead spoke up cutting Betty off, "They make you wanna slit your wrists." Isabella snorted before gently slapping Jughead's thigh, the boy smirked down at her while the others gave Jughead a look for his wording choice. "In a good way," Jughead added noticing the looks the group sent him, but Isabella was questioning the wording choice here. "In an amazing way," Veronica assured Archie noticing his crestfallen expression at the information.

"But no need to fret, Betty. 'Cause Archie asked me to sing with him and we're thinking about doing some upbeat covers," Veronica assured the blonde causing Archie to look at her in question. "We are?" Archie asked as he looked at Veronica. "Aren't we?" Veronica asked. "Well, I have Jughead as my date so that beats all of you," Isabella spoke up as she pulled a chocolate bar from her pocket. Jughead smiled at her before they all shared a look. "So I take it that you two are finally together?" Veronica asked as she smirked at Kevin. "We, uh... During your disaster party," Isabella told them with a haunting grin reminding them she hadn't forgiven them. But Veronica considered that closest to Homecoming, she won the bet with Kevin.

"Belle!" Alice Cooper's voice caught the brunette's attention, Isabella turned to look into the Blue and Gold office to see the older woman smiling; which is never a good sign. "Mrs Cooper," Isabella greeted before walking into the office. "Betty tells me that you and Jughead are attending the Homecoming Dance together," Alice told her sweetly. "Uh, yes. That was quick," Isabella muttered while Alice clapped her hands happily. "Well, I wanted to invite you, Christian, Jughead and FP to have dinner with Betty and me before the Homecoming Dance," Alice told her before noticing Isabella's hesitance.

"To make up for my behaviour in the past," Alice added as she moved to stand in front of Isabella with her arms crossed. "When I heard about your mother's condition, I was sympathetic for you and your father but I don't pity you. You are a strong person, Belle and you get that from your mom. And she and I may not have the best friendship anymore but she was one of my friends in high school and I know you and your father are having struggles so I want to show my support without pushing my way into your lives," Alice expressed with a kind smile. "Okay, but I can't guarantee that my father will join us," Isabella told her before saying bye and leaving.

"Hey, Betty!" Isabella walked into the auditorium where Betty was helping decorate for the Homecoming Dance. "Hey, Bella. What's up?" Betty asked as she walked up to the brunette, a smile on her face. "I was just invited to your house for dinner before the dance--" Isabella was cut off by Jughead stepping up behind her, "--Yeah I was just ambushed in the hall by Mrs Cooper and invited along too." Betty looked between them with confusion, "Why would she do that?" Isabella shrugged, "She told me that she wants to show her support for my mother without sticking her nose in. From a distance, I guess." But Betty had other ideas about her mother's reasoning.

Christian looked at his daughter like she had grown to two heads. "You want me to sit at a dinner table with Alice Cooper?" Christian asked with a shake of his head. "I told her you might not go but I thought it'd be an opportunity to bond with FP again but..." Isabella stopped him from interrupting her, "I thought I'd invite FP and Jughead over after the Homecoming Dance." Christian nodded his head before walking into his office, Isabella furrowed her brows as he walked over and rested a box on the counter in front of his daughter. "I wasn't sure if you had picked out a dress for Homecoming but I know that your mother would want you to wear this," Christian told her as she opened the box to reveal a beautiful dress.

The short burgundy dress had a tight chest with a skirt that flared out, she ran her fingers over the delicate material. "The original version was a longer skirt but your mother spent time adjusting the dress for you especially," Christian told her, a fond smile as he saw his daughter's watery eyes. "Thank you," Isabella breathed out. She was more excited about the Homecoming Dance now and truthfully, she was excited about Jughead's reaction when she is all dressed up for the dance. "You'll be the belle of the ball," Christian teased making Isabella roll her eyes before they laughed together.

Rosemary Here!

We are so close to the end of Season One and I think I'll work on a different book for a little bit to let the first season information process and everyone catch up on the book. But then Season Two is gonna be pretty heavy in some topics but there will still be fluff between Jughead and Isabella.

( Warning: Isabella is the main character and she will steal some of Jughead, Betty's and Archie's scenes in season two and so will Noah who will be a more prominent character in act two! )

And sorry for the short chapters, my attention span will only last so long...

See you next chapter!

P.S: Pick the dress yourself if you want but I won't acknowledge it.
This is the dress she wears, whether you like it or not.
