━ CHAPTER ELEVEN ...

' endure and survive , part. 2 '

TRIGGER WARNING : suicide !

The group had eventually made it outside of the building, as they walked through the car park which had a roof over it, and their flashlights lit their way.

"Do you know where we are?" Joel questioned Henry, as he looked back at him, and the sisters came up to stand beside Joel.

Henry nodded his head, scanning the poster behind him with his eyes as he knew they made it out, "Yep. The other side."

...

Now the five of them were travelling outside in the open air, as they tried to be as quiet and unnoticeable as possibly. Joel was leading them like usually, as the sisters were the closet behind him.

Sam patted his older brothers shoulder, and signed to him confused, "Why can't we use our lights?"

Henry motioned to Joel in front of them, and signed back to his brother, "He says so we don't draw attention."

"But no one's here?" Sam remarked through sign language, brows raised in bafflement.

"I know." Henry actually speaks out loud, and directs his words straight at the tense Joel, "No one is here. No one's gonna be here because...my plan worked."

"So much goddamn talkin'." Joel complains with a low grumble, not turning around to react to Henry's words.

(Y/N) bits back an amused smirk at them, her hand in Ellie's as they walked close side by side.

Henry laughed a little bit, shaking his head, "I'm just saying...I delivered." He points to the turn in the street, "Make this right, go down the street, embankment behind the last house...and we're out."

"So we cross the river and then what?" Ellie questioned Henry, as they all take the turn, and follow his directions, "Where ya gonna go?"

"Don't know yet." Henry tells her with a shoulder shrug, walking a bit faster to catch up with (Y/N) and Ellie as Sam was next to the older Williams.

"Well, we're goin' to Wyoming." Ellie casually told him, as Joel span around quickly at her revealing, and gave her a look, making her exclaim, "What? It's a huge state. It can fit two more people."

"Yeah..." Henry trails off with a small wince, already knowing Joel didn't want him and his brother around any longer then needed, "maybe we just call this one a success, and say our farewells."

(Y/N) nudges her shoulder against Henry's with a smile, raising her eyebrows in Joel's direction, "He'll change is mind. Trust me. This is show it goes." She tries to mimic Joel's deep voice, and points a finger in the air, "He's like, ''No, girls. Never, ever, ever happening''."

Ellie stifles a loud snicker at sisters teasing, while Henry smiles a little be amused, and Joel, the poor man rolls his eyes at her, embarrassment creeping up on him.

"And then we're like," She continues on her teasing, motioning between her and Ellie with a crossed face, "'I'm gonna ask you a million more times.' And he's like-"

Suddenly a gunshot goes off in the direction, making all the siblings duck their heads with yells, and exclaims. (Y/N) was quick to place her arms over Ellie's head, keeping her covered from the noise and shots.

"Move, move!" Joel urges the sisters by the arms towards a car for cover, as the gunshots continued above their heads.

"The fuck is that comin' from?" Henry curses out of breath, as the five of them had their backs to the car for cover, and he tried to see where it was coming from.

"Shut up." Joel demanded quickly, keeping a hand on (Y/N)'s knee as he slowly peeks his head above the car, getting a view of a high tower a few yards back, before another gunshot was fired, and it made glass shatter near them.

"Fuck. Let's move. Let's go." Henry exclaimed to his younger brother, grabbing his hand as he tried to get up and run away from the scene.

"What are you doin'?!" Joel yelled at him, seeing him doing this with Sam as he looked back.

"Gettin' the fuck outta here!" Henry answered back loudly, but another gunshot was hit directly in front of them, making the brothers move back and sprint back behind the car with the trio, "What do we do?"

(Y/N) had a bad feeling in her stomach, as she had Ellie wrapped tightly in her arms, using her body to protect Ellie's whenever the gun would shoot at them.

Joel once again tried to peek above the car, but it was met with the same fate, and a shot was aimed at the car they were behind, "All right." He mutters under his breath, making sure his gun was loaded and placed it in his belt before turning to (Y/N), "Stay here."

"What?" She stuttered out, eyes going a bit wide with that bad feeling becoming bigger as Joel kneeled up to talk with them all, but his eyes stayed on her.

"If you don't move, he's not gonna hit you." He swiftly reassures her in one breath, "I'm gonna go around, try to get in the house through the back, and then I'll take him out."

"But if you go out there, he's gonna kill you." (Y/N) stressed nervously, heart rate starting to pick up as she didn't want anything to happen to him.

"It's dark, and he has shit aim. Nobody's gonna kill me." Joel fired back strongly, shaking his head at her as he spotted the expression on her face.

"Then he's gonna kill us." Her voice drops into a lower one, biting down on her bottom lip as her eyes drop to the ground.

Joel sighs softly to himself, being bold as he reaches his hand out and cupped the back of her neck, pulling her attention back up to his soft eyes, "Do you trust me?"

Her breath hitches feeling his warm hand on her skin, eyes looking back and forth between his, and she nods her head firmly, no verbal response needed.

He brushes his thumb against her collar bone, nodding gently back before he let go, grabbing his gun and got up, keeping low as he made his way around the car, stopping where the brothers were just as another gunshot went off.

Joel saw his chance as it went off, knowing the person needed to reload and ran across to another car, using the darkness to hide his figure as he made his way through.

(Y/N) watched with her heart in her throat, gasping a little each time a bullet would just dodge the running Joel, as she poked her head up to spot him almost across the yard.

Ellie squeezes her sisters hand, pulling her back down behind the car, as many more gunshots were fired at them, "He's gonna be fine, (Y/N/N)."

She tried to smile at Ellie for reassuring her, but it came out strained and went to reply back, but a louder gunshot was heard, making her stomach flip with nervousness and peek through the broken cars windows, spotting no sign of Joel yet.

A distant shout was now heard from the way Joel went, and it caused the four left behind the car to share a confused look. (Y/N), and Henry went to help their siblings up, as Sam frantically taps their arms, gaining their attention as they spot many enemy vehicles incoming towards them.

"Oh, shit!" (Y/N) curses seeing the massive truck, and many more cars heading straight for them, as she pulls her sister with her, following right behind Henry who grabbed her arm.

Behind them the massive garbage truck was running over the cars, as Joel, who was up in the tower had gotten the sniper and started to shoot at the truck aiming for the four down below.

The four running away quickly from it try to avoid the cars, as they keep heading straight, and Ellie gets out the gun she head, firing it at the truck, as (Y/N) was dragging her along.

"Gimme that!" She exclaims over the loud noise of the truck, taking the gun from Ellie's free hand as she goes to fire at it as well, grunting when she had hit one of the windows, and broke the glass.

Whoever inside was pissed at this, as the truck now started to accelerate, which caused the group to try and sprint away faster. Though, lucky for them, Joel who was still protecting them from up high had managed to hit the driver, causing the truck to swerve and crash into a nearby house, away from the four running.

In the middle of all this, Ellie had ended up tripping over and falling, which caused (Y/N) to yell out for her and kneel down to help her up by the arms, but pauses mid way hearing and seeing the rest of the enemies cars pulling up in front of them, with many of them hoping out with guns.

"Quick! Quick!" (Y/N) urges her sister hurriedly, pulling her up as they both scramble to run away, but an explosion went off behind them, and it made the older sister pull the younger one in front, blocking her from it.

The (H/C) haired girl groans as she was forced to the ground by it, knowing her head would hurt after this as her eyes blink rapidly, and tries to look for her sister, "Ellie?!"

Though before she could get up to find her, someones hands grip onto her shoulders, making her flinch and look up through blurry vision and relaxed seeing it was Henry, and Ellie right beside him.

"Come! Come on!" Henry whispered yelled, helping her up by the arms as he wraps her arm around her shoulder, and Ellie grabs onto her waist, the both of them helping the wobbly girl towards where Sam was, which was behind another car.

"You okay?" Henry questioned out of breath, searching the two girls for injuries as (Y/N) swallowed harshly, and nodded her head lazily.

They all hear the people coming closer to them, as they shouted out demands to the soldiers, and the (E/C) eyed girl felt her heat rate pick up once again, as the enemy had spotted Joel up in the tower.

"Dead end, Henry." Kathleen's voice speaks up loudly, as the four behind the car freeze up and tilt their heads in her direction, "Gonna step on out? Save us some time?"

She walks forward while looking underneath some cars beside her, and the soldiers follow behind, "No?" She shakes her head with a tight lip, "That's all right. Doesn't matter."

From behind the car they were hiding behind, (Y/N) and Henry share a look as the male turned to Sam, seeing his scared look, while (Y/N) had her arms around the younger ones.

"I'll come out!" Henry yells to Kathleen, making (Y/N) give him a wide eyed stare, "Just let the girl, and kids go!"

"No. Sorry." Kathleen blunty replies to him, getting closer and closer as she was a few feet behind the car, and shakes her head, "The girls are with the man who killed Bryan. And Sam..well, Sam's with you."

"You don't understand!" Henry tried to protest, giving (Y/N) a calm down hand motion, as she was whispering for him to stop.

"But I do." Kathleen answered as she raises her nose into the air, "I know why you did what you did. But did you ever stop to think that maybe he was supposed to die?"

Henry clenched his jaw at her rude words, "He's just a fucking kid!"

Kathleen pursues her lips, shaking head slowly from side to side, "Well, kids die, Henry. They die all the time." She gestured to the side with both hands, "You think the whole world revolves around him? That he's worth..." She motions to all around her, "everything? Well, this is what happens when you fuck with fate."

(Y/N) scoffed at her speech, pulling the two children closer to her side as Henry turns to her and moved so their knees touched, "Get ready to take them and run." He told her firmly, but saw her protesting the idea, "Yes. Do it."

She pulls her bottom lip in between her teeth, releasing a breath but nods her head, looking down at Ellie and Henry as she grabbed their hands in hers.

"It's time, Henry. Enough!" Kathleen calls out, her patience running thin.

Henry squeezes (Y/N)'s shoulder, giving her one last look before he exhaled heavily, trying to calm himself down before he stood up with his hands raised in the air.

Sam, who didn't understand what was happening went to stands up and follow, but (Y/N) gently pulled him back down, and shook her head at him as she squeezed his hand.

Henry continued to walk out slowly from behind the car, as he came to face Kathleen and her army.

Kathleen stared at him for a few seconds, before shrugging her shoulders and frowns, "It ends the way it ends." She pulls out her gun, reloading it and raises it up to him, going to take a shot.

Though the sound of loud rumbling, and the truck creaking from over in the fire caught their attention, and all turned to see the truck falling into the hole under the broken house.

(Y/N) felt her arm hair stick up at the noise, that bad feeling entering her heart as she tries to look through the cars windows, and spots what was happening with the truck.

The sound of rumbling got louder, as snarling was now overpowering the noise and (Y/N) gulped hearing it, sharing a look with Ellie as the soldiers with the guns got closer to the hole in the ground.

As soon as the noise went quiet, that's when everything went to hell. Thousands of infected appeared from out of the ground, snarling and screeching as the soldiers fired their guns at the many charging at them all.

Henry scrambled his way back to the trio hiding, panting in fright at all the infected as he wrapped his arms around them, and squatted down next to Sam.

A lot of grunting, screaming, gunfire and screeching was heard as the enemy fought with the infected, however the monsters were easily taking them out as more appeared from the hole.

The sound of someone hitting against the back of the car, has the four of them turning and eyes going wide seeing an infected about to attack them, however something, actually someone had shot the thing and it dropped dead to the ground.

(Y/N) knew who that was, as she peeked up and just saw Joe up in the tower with a sniper, making her release a breath of relief. Though, she looked around at the fighting grounds and knew they needed to move, as more were coming closer.

She tightly gripped Ellie's hand in her own, as she pushed her in front of her and followed right behind the brothers through the chaotic mess.

"(Y/N)!" Ellie yelled in warning, seeing the infected about to come up behind her, as the girl went to turn around but it was shot in the head, stopping it from hurting them both.

"Come on! Over here!" (Y/N) exclaimed to her sister, pointing to the open window of the car across from them as she pushes the dead infected away from them. She quickly urges Ellie towards the hiding place, all while (Y/N) felt the protection of Joel firing shots at the infected that came too close.

They both made their way to the car, as (Y/N) pulled out her bow and quickly shot one of the infected in the head with a yell. She turns to help Ellie inside the car, trying to block out the screams of the dying people, and grunts as she slides inside also.

Many more shots from up above were fired, as the sisters heard them and once again knew it was Joel aiming at the infected, or humans that got near them.

"Go! Go!" (Y/N) encourages her sister swiftly, pushing her first to climb over the seats in the car as she went after her, making sure to look out for infected.

Ellie was shaking in her sisters arms, as they both breathed heavily and look outside at the gruesome battle between human and infected. The older Williams slightly covered her sisters eyes, as she spotted a bloater ripping off someone's head from his body, and continued to glance around for a way out.

Suddenly the eerie sound of clicking from an infected is heard inside the car, causing the siblings to tense up and hold each other tighter.

(Y/N) took a brave head turn, breath hitching seeing an infected climbing into the car the same way they did. She could also hear Joel's gun trying to shoot at it, but couldn't hit it as the monster was fully inside the car now.

The young infected pokes its head up, screeching and snarling at the scared sisters, and (Y/N) was fast to act, yelling at Ellie to move to safety as she came first.

Ellie panicked and fumbled to open the car door, as her older sister was going to stab the infected, but instead grunted and kicked open the door with her foot, making the two fall outside into the chaos, and shut the one infected inside of the car.

"Are you okay!?" (Y/N) shouted over the loud noises, cupping her sisters face in her hands, breathing heavily, and saw her nod frantically with big eyes.

"Help! Get the fuck away!"

The two of them snap their heads forward hearing the familiar voice of Henry shouting, and saw him underneath a car with Sam, kicking at two infected that was trying to grab them.

(Y/N) gulped at this, placing her bow around her shoulders as she grabs her knife, looking towards where she thought Joel was and then down at Ellie, who gave her a nod of reassurance.

With that, the two of them got up and were one again protected by Joel's gun firing at the monsters near them, as they run towards where the brothers were.

They dodged and swiftly avoided the infected, as they didn't even get close because of Joel's gun. A small truck comes flying past them, running over a bunch of infected, as the sisters quickly turned back to help the brothers.

(Y/N) grabbed the infected attacking Sam, gritting her teeth and pulled it out by the legs, as it tried to swipe and screech at her, but she yelled back at it and stabbed it in the head, while Ellie got the one attacking Henry.

"Come on, come on!" Ellie urges them out from under the car, as her sister was stomping on one of the infected heads, wiping away the blood on her face.

One she was finished, she slipped her knife away, and pulled Sam with Ellie on the other side, and Henry followed after them. They all hurriedly made their way towards the tower where Joel was in, avoiding the entire fight the best they could.

However, it was going well until Kathleen's voice shouted and held a gun at them,"Stop!"

Henry was automatically in front of them all, as (Y/N) kept the two younger ones behind her and they latched onto her waist, all while she glared at Kathleen.

No one made a move to do anything, as Kathleen frowned a bit confused as to why their eyes moved beside her. What she didn't know, was that an infected was clicking and creeping up from behind her.

She went to turn around, but the infected leaped up with a screech and ended up on top of her, as Kathleen screamed as the infected landed forceful punches to her face.

(Y/N) flinched at the noise, shielding the two holding on to her away from the view as they held on tighter, trying not to watch the woman get eaten alive by the monster.

Joel, who had found them in their position quickly exclaimed to the frozen four, "This way now! Move!" He pushes them all the opposite way of the scene, as the screeching and screaming continues on.

...

Later that night after the horrible massacre, crickets were chirping in the dark as the group had found a safe place far away from that mess.

They all had made their way into a house, and only kept one light on to not draw attention out to them.

Inside of the bedroom where the light was on, (Y/N) was on the bed with Ellie and Sam cuddled up on either side of her, as she read them a one of Ellie's comic books, and made sure to make hand signs for Sam to understand.

Henry, who was leaning against something in the main room eating watched the three together, "You think they'll be okay?"

"Yeah, I think..." Joel trails off as he looks away from (Y/N)'s figure, and towards the ground where he was sat, "it's easier when you're a kid anyway." He swallows hardly, and turns to look at Henry, "You don't have anybody else relying on you. That's the hard part."

"Wel..." Henry starts off as he glances at the food he had, then at Joel with a small smile, "I guess we're going a good job then."

Joel nods his head a little in agreement, before lifting his nose in the air to motion at the comic book in (Y/N)'s hands, "What's that comic book say? 'Endure and survive'?"

"'Endure and survive'." Henry repeats what he said, before he scoffs a under his breath, "That shits redundant."

"Yeah, it's not great."

Henry laughs lowly at Joel's answer, as he wraps up the food in his hands, "No."

Joel ponders in his thoughts for a second, glancing between him and the three in the other room before talking, "Look, I don't know exactly how I'm gettin' to Wyoming. I'm probably walkin'. But..." He pauses knowingly, making Henry nod his head in understanding, "you know, if you want to."

"Yeah." Henry immediately agrees, himself not ready to split his brother away from his two new friends, and if he was being honest, he wouldn't mind getting to know (Y/N) more also, "Yeah, I think it'd be nice for Sam to have some friends. I'll tell him in the morning."

He nods his head in approval, lips lifted up a little in a smile as he looks at Joel, "New day, new start."

Inside the bedroom, (Y/N) was making funny voices and faces as she read what it said in the comic, and it made the two beside her giggle with grins watching her.

Footsteps approaching as the oldest stopping her dramatics, and spots Henry smiling at her, as she returns it bashfully and taps Henry arms, who looked over at the door.

"Hey." Henry hand signs something to his brother, "You need sleep."

Sam's shoulder slumped at his sign, but nodded nevertheless as he got up from beside (Y/N) and went to hop onto the bed beside the sisters one, laying down on top of it with no covers on.

Henry turns back to the sisters, giving a nod to Ellie and smiled once more at (Y/N), before he grabbed the door handle and gently closed the door shut behind him.

As soon as the door closed, Ellie snatched the comic book from her sisters hand who gasped offended, and watched as she got Sam's attention, and he sat up in his bed and Ellie went back beside (Y/N).

Ellie flipped through the pages, trying to find the one her sister was just on and started to read it out to Sam, also signing it with her hands sometimes as he listened closely.

Sam holds up a finger for her to stop, as the sisters watch him grab his writing board and wrote something down on it, before handing it to (Y/N) which surprised her.

Her (E/C) eyes look down at the plastic paper, seeing it had 'Are you ever scared?' written. She smiles a little tiredly at him, before ripping a new page and goes to write back, while voicing it, "Sometimes, but do I not look scared?" She hands it back to him, as he reads it.

Sam rips a new page as he writes something down on it with the pen again, and passes it to her, as she grabs it from him.

"'Never.'" She reads what he wrote with raised eyebrows, and saw him nod a little as she write down her answer, "I'm scared all the time...but not for me, the others around me.."

Ellie frowns sadly hearing her older sister say this, as she grips her arm interlocked with hers, and leans her head on her shoulder. Her sister was one of a kind, she knew that, and it wasn't just because of her immunity.

(Y/N) showed Sam her words on the paper, as he nods again in understanding with tight lips, and she goes to write something else with a shakily exhale, "I'm scared of losing Ellie, and ending up all alone."

Sam stares at the words written, not signing anything back and took in her confession of her greatest fear. He grabbed the writing board back from her, and saw she wrote another question on her, "What about you?"

He rips another piece of paper, focusing on it as he writes his reply and hands it back to her.

She reads his reply with a confused, and heavy frown, showing it to Ellie who had a similar expression, "If you turn into a monster, is it still inside you?"

(Y/N) looks up from the board, confusion shown all over as Sam slumped his shoulders, reaching down to pull up his pants sleeve, and finally exposed what he meant.

His leg was wounded, and it was bitten by an infected as the disease was starting to speared in his leg by the inhuman veins appearing.

Her heart drops to her stomach seeing this, cursing under her breath as she places a hand up to her mouth, "Oh, no, no." She bites on her bottom lip nervously, before lifting up her flannels sleeve, and showed him her healed bite marks, as he grabbed her arm and looked at it with wide eyes.

Ellie was quick to grab the writing board in her hands, before scrambling to write on it, "Her blood..is medicine." She points to it as she passes it to him.

(Y/N) saw the words she wrote, and feels a heavy weight on her chest as she knew this wasn't going to help the poor boy, but would do it to lift up his hope nevertheless.

She pulls out her knife from her pocket, as Sam makes a small protesting noise, but she signs for him to calm down. She then makes a small cut on her hand, hissing a little at the sting and gently lifted his wounded leg up, placing her blood onto it for a few seconds.

She smoothes some of her blood around it, trying her hardest to not make her hands tremble as she removes her hand, and pulls down his pants sleeve, and gave him a soft grin.

Sam returned it back half heartedly, thankful that he got to meet someone as kind and giving as her, and brings back his writing board, and the sisters read what he wrote on it, "Stay awake with me."

(Y/N) wobbles another smile at him, not using the board as she signs and voices reassuringly, "I promise."

She then reaches forward arms open, and pulls him into a tight hug, as his head fell into the side of her neck and she reached out for Ellie, pulling her into the loving hug also.

None of them knowing this would be his last hug, ever.

...

The next morning came fast, as the sunlight was starting to appear above the place the group were currently in. Birds cawing into the morning breeze were also heard, as the grass slowly moved in the wind flowing through.

(Y/N) was asleep on a chair inside the bedroom, as she leans in an uncomfortable position, but did it since it was for Sam.

She slowly wakes up, eyes squinting slightly as she rubs them and glances around her, not spotting Ellie which made her immediately wake up more. However, her eyes land on Sam, who had his back facing her and sitting on the end of the bed.

"Hey." She whispered softly in his direction, but got no answer which had her heart rate picking up quickly.

She stands up carefully, trying to keep herself calm and makes her way over to him, hearing him humming and went to touch his shoulder, but instead was met with a snarling and turned Sam pouncing on her, which caused her to scream bloody murder.

Inside the other room, Joel, who was sleeping shot his eyes open at her scream and turned to his left, spotting Ellie who was trying to wake up him, but they both turned hearing and seeing (Y/N) coming tumbling out of the room with Sam on top of her, snarling.

"No! No! No!" She was yelling, trying to push and shove off the infected boy, who was now tens times stronger then he normal would be. She didn't want to kill him nor hurt the innocent boy who she grew to care for.

Joel went to act, making sure to keep Ellie behind him who was already crying for her sister, as Joel reached for the gun, but Henry swiped it up first

"Nope, nope, nope." Henry was rapidly speaking, as he aimed the gun at Joel trying to get to (Y/N).

"Stop! Sam!" The (H/C) haired now had tears in her eyes, as she cried out and tried to reach for her knife, but Sam went to snap his mouth at her arm, and she barely dodge it, which caused her to freak out more, "Joel! Joel!"

At her desperate cries of his name, Joel went to move towards her but Herny shot a bullet near his feet, making him yell and push Ellie further back.

(Y/N)'s cries didn't stop, as Henry didn't think before he acted as he quickly turned their way and fired the gun at his brothers head, instantly killing him as his body was knocked off of hers.

(Y/N) shuffled away from his body by her boots, feeling that some of his blood had splattered on her face, as she breathes heavily with tears in her eyes.

Henry, who lowered the gun and finally realised what he had done to save the girl. Sam's blood started to stain the floor, as it was running out of his now dead body.

Joel was breathing heavily also, felt his desperation easy seeing an unhurt (Y/N) on the floor, and he calls her name through a voice crack, making her turn to him and his heart clenched seeing her teary eyed, trembling lips, and bloody face, "Are you okay?"

He went to go collect her in his arms, with Ellie automatically rushing to her sister but once again Henry stopped them, gun raised with a panicked expression.

"Easy, easy, easy." Joel tried to calm him down, seeing his expression as he went to try and grab the gun, and heard his breathing picking up, "Henry, gimme the gun."

"What did I do?" Henry whispered out, his entire system shutting down at the reality of what just happened, "What did I do?" He stuttered over his words, voice breaking as he looks between Sam and (Y/N), "Sam?" A tear runs down his face, lips wobbly as he stumbles in his spot.

"Gimme the gun." Joel once again tried to coax the lost male, motioning to the object in his hands, "Gimme the gun, Henry."

He looks back at the teary eyed quiet (Y/N), raising the gun to his temple as she went wide eyed seeing this, and Joel shouted, while covering Ellie from view, "Henry, no!"

The gunshot went off, and his body fell straight after. (Y/N) released a loud sob, tears falling free from her eyes watching another person she cared about die right in front of her.

Two more people to add to her list, who she couldn't save.

She understood now. Wherever she went, death followed her.

...

The sound of digging is heard, as the now trio once more were digging graves for the fallen in the grassland near the building they stayed in.

After they were somewhat finished, Ellie went to grab their supplies as (Y/N) and Joel stayed back at the graves, as the male patted down the dirt on hole, and smoothed it down.

Ellie came walking back down to them, as she handed the quiet (Y/N) something, which was Sam's writing board and Ellie stepped back beside Joel, both watching the girl.

She gripped the object in her hands, tears coming into her eyes again as she knelt down beside the brothers graves, and saw what Sam had written on the board as a small sob escaped her reading it.

I'M SORRY

The girl couldn't imagine losing her younger sister, let alone killing her. It was something she never wanted to experience, nor let Ellie experience either. She just wished, she could of helped prevent that from happening with the brothers.

She sniffles as she runs a finger across the words, before gently placing the board on Sam's grave, looking at Henry's and stood back up.

(Y/N) ignored Joel's eyes gazing at her, as she grabs her bag and bow from Ellie, before Ellie intertwined their fingers and squeezed reassuringly as they walked a bit ahead.

"Which way's west?" Ellie goes to turn back around, questioning the male who's eyes haven't left (Y/N), and he motions to the direction beside him.

The younger William's silently nods, gently pulling along (Y/N) with her as she knew this would hit her the hardest, and the two of them start to walk the way Joel motioned to.

Joel stood back at the graves as they did so, his heart heavy with emotion seeing how guilty and upset (Y/N) was over the brothers. His heart tightens with remorse spotting what Sam had wrote on the board for the sisters, and he knew it was aimed at (Y/N) the most.

"Let's go."

At the sound of (Y/N)'s rough voice calling, has him turning his head in her direction and saw her and Ellie already a bit away from him, both waiting.

Joel places the shovel down next to Henry's grave, before grabbing the bag, the gun and his jacket beside him.

He gave one last solemnly look over the now resting peacefully brothers and follows after the awaiting sisters.

"Endure and Survive."
