"THIS IS NEW." Olivia said slowly as John, her, and Chas got out of the cab. John stared at the nunnery with a look of exasperation. It was as if he'd rather be anywhere else but here. Olivia never understood how a man like him, who fights demons on the regular, came across angels of both light and darkness, still rather be buried six feet under than admit he believes in a higher power. He's still ever so cynical.
"Did you know we were coming to a convent?" Chas asked John questioningly.
John huffed. "It's one of the gory details she left out."
The trio took one step only to be halted by one of the many officers lingering outside the nunnery. He began what she could only think was him scolding them. She couldn't really make out what he said exactly when he spoke to them in Spanish. It was moments like these were she regretted not taking Spanish instead of French as her language elective in school. The three of them stared at the man like he grew a second head before the very eyes. None of them knew what to say.
Chas leaned toward John. "You should have brought Zed."
"Don't you bloody start on me." John countered with a finger jabbed in his direction.
Olivia smirked. "Yeah, why didn't you bring Zed? Afraid it'd be awkward? You know with whole crush meeting the first love scenario." She crossed her arms as her eyes glistened with mischief. "Should I start calling Zed mommy?"
John scoffed. "I don't know what you're talking about." He replied cooly with a smug smirk.
Olivia leaned back with a small frown on her lips. She was only teasing. She didn't expect for him to become defensive all of the sudden. "I was just kidding-" her eyes widened momentarily. "Wait, do you have a thing for Zed?"
John sighed heavily then turned to the group of nuns that huddled together beside them. Olivia was aware that he purposely ignored her question, which didn't help convince her otherwise. "Uh, excuse me, luv? You don't happen to know a British girl by the name of Anne Marie Flynn, do you? Fairly pretty, brunette. She's kind of got this-"
The nun spun around revealing herself to be Anne Marie. John stared at her awestruck whereas she didn't seem all that pleased with seeing him. "Annie?" He breathed.
Annie Marie simply ignored Constantine's greeting and went straight to Chas. The two shared a quick but heartfelt embrace. "It's great to see you." Said Chas.
"John didn't need to drag you into this." Anne Marie muttered apologetically, although there was a slight sense of resentment in her tone aimed at a particular warlock. Her brown eyes then landed on the shorter blonde that stood beside her first love. "I remember you from last night. Olivia was it?"
The blonde stood taller after being addressed by the nun. She had to admit she was curious about this woman. She was curious about anyone from her father's past given there was still so much she was learning about him. "Uh, yeah, Olivia Edwards."
The nun took a few steps forward. She soaked in the teenagers appearance. Olivia noticed how for a brief moment her sight would jump from her to John and back. Her mind was reeling, trying to piece together their relation. It grew clearer to the former Newcastle member that Olivia had to be important to Constantine for her to be sticking around. "You bear a striking resemblance to John. Are you by any chance related?"
Olivia emitted a laugh. "Yeah. Unfortunately, he's my father." She teased as she nudged his side. John rolled his eyes playfully before sending her a soft glare.
Anne Marie nodded slowly. She couldn't say she was surprised. Given his reputation he was bound to have a kid someday. Her eyes grew colder as they flickered over to the Brit in the trench coat. Not because he had a daughter with another woman, it was the fact that she had another thing to add to her list of reasons as to why she actually never knew him at all. "Well, I'm sorry your father brought you along as well. This really isn't something he should have let you be involved in. I guess it's my own fault. I should've told him to come alone."
"That's another thing you should've told me." His eyes wandered over her figure shamelessly. "Sister." He then said not even bothering to mask his flirtatious behavior.
"We can't talk here." The English woman muttered before leading the way into the convent. John rolled his eyes before following.

Anne Marie lead them into one of the room the convent used as a nursery. The exact room where the poor woman was murdered and her baby was stolen. John searched every inch of the small room for any clue as to what they could be dealing with. After examining a rather small hole at the bottom of the left wall beside the door-despite Anne Marie's claim that it had been created by mice-he felt as if he had an inkling on what the culprit could be.
"Grab the table, Chas." He ordered as he rose back up to his feet. Shrugging off his coat and disregarding it on a nearby bed, John said, "our first job is to narrow down the category. Rune stones will tell us which team our culprit plays for."
"So how does this work?" Olivia asked her father as they gathered around the decent sized table that now rested in the center of the room. But before John could explain, the double doors were pushed open by another nun. The group took a step back absentmindedly.
"Oh, uh, hello!" The woman beamed cheerfully. Her voice carried a thick Latin accent. "Can I help you?" She asked them as she stepped into the room with her hands folded behind her back.
"It's alright, Sister." Anne Marie assured her. "They're just here to-"
"Crime scene clean up." Chas interjected.
"Yes, there's a new mother coming in soon." Said Anne Marie.
"Of course. Sorry to interrupt. One of the sisters saw you." She glanced up bashfully at John earning a smirk from Olivia. "She thought you were El Cuycuy."
Liv nudged John's side, and he peered down at her with a smug smirk. Chas simply rolled his eyes. Ever since the two had finally put the past behind them and actually go to know one another, he felt as if they were a troublesome duo. It hadn't been until recently that Chas had noticed that Olivia was very much like John. They had the same humor, they're both stubborn, and have difficulty expressing their feelings. Not to mention they now both like to gang up on him and tease him nonstop.
"The bogeyman. Huh." John replied. His smirk only widened. "And you just charged up here with nothing but your wits. Woman after my own heart." Anne Marie looked to John with disgust. Chas sighed heavily while Liv chuckled under her breath.
"Good luck." The woman said before leaving the room mere seconds after.
"You, too." John muttered as he watched her leave. His eyes glistened with mischief.
"You can't even turn it off around a woman marry to God?" Anne Marie scolded him.
John looked at her exasperatedly. "What, you mean Sister Flirtatious? She started it." He quickly defended himself to no avail.
"We should stay focused and get back on track." Liv said aloud hoping to prevent an argument that would be uncomfortable for everyone. "Didn't we have a time limit?"
Chas nodded. "Liv's right. If those cops are gonna be back in an hour, we gotta move fast."
Annie Marie took the black cloth she had earlier and placed it over the table. Liv helped Chas dig through John's black bag for the candles needed for the ritual. She placed the four white candles at each corner. John reached into his pocket and pulled out a lighter. Soon after he lit each candle, he grabbed a medium sized black back filled with the rune stones and poured them onto his open palm.
John rubbed the stones between his palms as he chanted the spell. "Holy mother of earth, mother of the higher realm, guide my hand. Reveal the evil that dwelt here."
John tossed the stones on top of the table. Olivia watched in awe as the stone begun to glow. "What have we here?" John said with a small trace of a smirk on his lips.
Suddenly, the stones caught on fire and Olivia gasped loudly. "Oh my, god!" She cried as she and John lunged for the corners of the cloth, folding it over itself to put out the fire before it could worsen.
"Whatever was here covered its tracks. Baby snatchers aren't that sophisticated. This is good." John told them.
"It means the kid might still be alive." Chas added with a sense of relief in his brown eyes.
John nodded. "We need a link to the child's soul."
Annie Marie's face lit up at a thought that had crossed her mind. "The placenta. It's buried in their backyard. Local tradition. It's supposed to bring good luck."
Liv snorted. "Yeah, that clearly didn't work." She said as John said simultaneously, "fat lot of good that did."
John shrugged his coat back on as he looked to Liv and Chas. "All right, you two stay here. Watch for trouble." He pointed to Anne Marie to lead the way. "We've got some digging to do."

"I got the wrap." Liv said as she made her way to them. John sat on the edge of the fountain drenched. He had a bad run in with the evil who snatched both Hugo and now his son's baby.
"Thanks." Anne Marie muttered. John allowed her to take his hand. Her eyes were trained on wrapping up John's hand.
Olivia's eyes were trained on Annie wrapping up John's hand. "So..." She began as she crossed her arms over her chest. "Sister Flirtatious did this to you?"
John sighed heavily. His head slowly turned to his daughter. "Her name isn't Louisa. It's Lamashtu."
Liv raised a brow. "I'm sorry, who?"
"Eve's youngest sister and bit of a glorified vampire." He explained.
Anne Marie shook her head. Her brows knitted together in confusion. "I taught you about Lamashtu. She doesn't kidnap her prey."
"What does she do?" Liv asked wide eyed as she took a seat beside him. John could tell she was amazed with all of this. He fought hard to hold back a smirk. She really was his daughter.
"Lamashtu enjoys babies for their nutritional value." He admitted evoking absolute fear out of Hugo who stood by Annie Marie. "But lucky for you, she's curbing her hunger, though I can't conceive why. She lives to feed." He added in a failed attempt to ease his mind.
"Maybe the question is what makes Hugo's litter worth keeping alive?"
Hugo was taken back at John's remark. "We're nobodies, good Catholics." He told them. "I've got nothing to hide." He added after he saw the look on Constantine face. He knew John didn't exactly believe him given the circumstances.
"Maybe someone's hiding something from you." Olivia suggested gently. She didn't want to make the man any angrier than she already assumed he was. After all, his baby and grandchild had been taken by something supernatural.
"And what about the rest of your family? Who knows your roots?" Anne Marie asked Hugo as she let John's hand fall gently back to his lap.
"How about my grandmother, Pia?" He suggested. "She was born in Chile."
"Great," John breathed as he rose to his feet. "I have a way with older women."

Olivia smiled brightly at the old lady who sat in the recliner across from her. Pia handed her an old fashioned tea cup filled with coffee. The blonde took it graciously not having the heart to tell her she didn't particularly want any caffeine at the moment. "Thank you." She told her sweetly as she sat on the arm of the chair her father sat in. He offered to let her sit and he would instead stand, but she forced him to sit. She didn't want to admit it but she was worried about him especially after he was attacked an hour ago.
"Thank you, abuelita." Hugo muttered.
Pia nodded in reply. Her sight landed on John. Her warm smile never faltered. "Is that Mateo?"
John smirked. "No, no, I'm just a friend of Hugo's. I have some questions about Chile. He said that you're the expert."
Pia forehead creased. Her confusion on the sudden subject of her homeland was evident. "Chile?" She questioned slowly. She now studied Hugo carefully.
"Pia, listen to me." Hugo paused briefly. "Something is coming after our babies. Something inhuman. Martina is dead, abuelita." His grandmother gasped loudly as she brought a hand to her mouth. "Why would someone be targeting us."
"God help us." She cried as she brought her rosary to her lips. She held it so tightly that Olivia saw her knuckles turn white. "They are back."
"Who is, Mrs. Lopez?" Anne Marie asked as she leaned forward.
"La Brujeria."
Olivia felt her heart tightened in her chest. She didn't know anything surrounding La Brujeria, but the moment the name escaped from Pia's lips she felt something sinister run throughout her entire body. She didn't even realized she gripped John's hand tightly until he gave her a concerned glance. "I-I'm okay." She assured him. He nodded but didn't make any effort to let go of her hand.
"La Brujeria?" John asked Hugo's grandmother with a look of disbelief on his features.
Pia nodded. Her eyes were wide with fear. "They are tracking us down. Gathering new blood."
"I never heard of La Brujeria." Said Anne Marie.
"W-what are they?" Olivia asked John in a hush whisper. She didn't understand why she was so terrified of the name.
John squeezed her hand that was intertwined with his. "They were powerful warlocks in Chile long before it was Chile. It's prehistoric stuff they've been gone for eons."
Pia shook her head. "No, not gone. In hiding." She corrected him, but John still wasn't buying a word of it.
"How come I've never heard of them?" Anne Marie said aloud.
John rolled his eyes. "Because they don't exist anymore."
"When I was a girl, my grandfather was one of those monsters. They live to cause pain. My father ran away for all of us." She explained with shaky hands. She still had a tight grip on her cross.
John sighed as he rose to his feet. His hand finally slipped from Olivia's, and she felt like he took all her solace with him as he walked out the door. She gave everyone a sad smile before she followed after John. She opened the door to find him smoking a cigarette on the porch. She quietly closed the door behind her and sat on the bench.
"Are you okay?" She whispered.
He gave her a faux smile that didn't fool her. "I'm alright, luv."
Olivia smirked. "No you're not. Tell me."
Anne Marie joined them on the porch as John sighed. "It just don't add up. Brujeria wielded a magic the world hasn't seen since God turned on the lights. He struck them down. Not even hell would give them asylum. They were annihilated." He explained to the two ladies.
"You don't believe her?"
"I can't believe them." He huffed. "I don't have a spell to shut down the Brujeria, Anne Marie. Nobody does. She's speaking gibberish."
"Then why are you scared?" Countered Anne Marie.
"I'm not scared." He retorted defensively. He didn't realize his hand free of his cigarette was shaking slightly at his side until Olivia took it in hers. It was now her turn to comfort him. John relaxed instantly. "If the Brujeria were back, we'd know it, all right? It wouldn't be subtle, there would be-"
"What?" Olivia said as John plopped down defeatedly on the bench beside her.
"Bugger me."
Anne Marie glanced at him with a raised brow. "What is it?"
"It's the rising darkness, isn't it?" Olivia broke the silence. "The rising darkness is the work of the Brujeria?" Anne Marie stared between them in utter confusion. This was the first time she's ever heard of this risking darkness. Why hadn't John mentioned it before is the question? All he had to do was simply look to his daughter for Olivia to know the answer.
They were drowning in troubled waters.
