(y/n) laid down on her bed covered in blankets because of the cold Indiana weather. It was Christmas day and for anyone else it would've been a happy day filled with laughter and gift giving spent with your family, but for (y/n) it was just like any other day. Her parents fighting about anything and everything then proceeding to take out more of their anger on her. She decided to just stay in room like she always did. (y/n) grabbed her phone when a notification popped up on her screen.

(y/n) got up from her bed and changed into a pair of jeans and a long sleeve t-shirt with her hoodie. She grabbed her shoes and phone before walking quietly out downstairs in hopes to make it past her parents, but they still noticed.

"Where are you going?" Her father asked angrily directing his attention to her.

"I was gonna go hangout with Avani." (y/n) answered.

"And you thought you could just walk out?" He asked looking at her like she was stupid.

"Well, you never let her talk anyway. All you do is yell and scream." Her mom butted in. The two began arguing again so (y/n) took the chance and left the house. She quickly walked along the sidewalk, hurrying around the corner to Avani's house.

"(y/n)!" Avani smiled pulling her inside. "Merry Christmas."

"Merry Christmas, Vani." (y/n) replied hugging the shorter girl.

"(y/n), sweetheart, you must be freezing." Avani's mom said seeing her covered from head to toe in snow. She hurried towards her with a blanket and wrapped it around her body. "Here put this on too." She handed her a Santa hat matching the one's her and Avani were wearing.

"Thanks, Mrs. Gregg." (y/n) laughed putting it on her head as Avani shook her head at her mom.

"Come to the kitchen. We are getting ready to eat." The woman said waving for the girls to follow. They walked to the kitchen and (y/n) greeted Shanti, Priya, and Avani's dad before sitting down by Avani.

"I want to give you something after we eat." Avani said quietly, leaning towards (y/n) who nodded. They all ate and talked throughout the meal. When they finished Avani tempted to pull (y/n) upstairs, but was stopped by her mom calling them to the living room. Avani groaned making (y/n) laugh.

"We need to take a family picture." Her mom said setting up her phone for the self timer.

"I thought we already did." Avani furrowed her brows.

"(y/n) is here now so we need to take another." The older woman said in a obvious tone making (y/n) laugh again. The two walked over to the others and stood next to each other. "Make sure you smile." Avani's mom said running into frame.

"Okay, me and (y/n) are going to my room." Avani said as soon as the picture was taken.

"Don't do anything weird." Shanti teased making Avani roll her eyes. Avani closed the door when they walked in and told (y/n) to sit on the bed.

"Here." Avani smiled sitting down beside her and handing her a small red box. (y/n) flipped open the top revealing a silver ring with an Avani engraved on the top. "I got us matching ones." She held her hand out showing her same one with (y/n)'s name engraved on it.

"I love it." (y/n) smiled, slipping it on her middle finger. "Thank you, beb." She cupped Avani's cheek pecking her lips.

"I'm glad you like it." Avani smiled before kissing her again.
