"ALRIGHT KIDS LET'S tidy up and then we can all enjoy the first weekend of summer break!" selene says as she places the last of her pens in their respective bin.

"are you excited for summer?" a young girl named quinn asked selene.

"uh...it depends. i don't know what i have planned but i'm excited to spend time out in the sun. but i'm not sure because summer isn't my favorite season." selene says memories pouring into her mind suddenly.

"what is your favorite season?" a boy named romeo asks softly.

"i think...maybe spring." selene replies with a soft and simple smile.

"what's so good about spring miss. v?" quinn asked.

"well quinn, i look at spring kind of like starting over. the flowers start to bloom, the sun stays awake a little longer, the birds sing while the butterflies fly, the people rest with their windows open, and it smells of light air. i enjoy that." selene says with a sweet smile on her face as she fixes the girls bow before brushing over her hair with her hand.

"i like winter!" romeo calls out going to sit and spin in the desk chair.

"really? why so ro?" selene asks giving the boy her attention as quinn moved to hold onto selene's other hand simulating painting her nails with the ends of the older girl's hair.

"i like the cold. i also like snow. it snows a lot then right? i like snowmen too. they're cool when you dress them. oh and, my mommy makes me hot chocolate to drink and hold when i cant feel my hands cause of the cold!" romeo rants as selene smiles on at her young student.

"that sounds like a wonderful time! i see why you like the season so much. what about you quinnie?" selene says before lightly asking the young girl.

"i like summer." quinn says quietly.

"wanna tell me why?" selene asks picking the girl up and placing her on her hip.

"i like how it looks outside. everyone is outside in the city and it's like a big party. people sing and it feels nice. i can also eat ice cream." quinn says as she plays with selene's hair that rested in a high ponytail.

"ooo! that sounds like a good time as well! you could persuade me! look at you two! making the most out of your seasons." selene says.

selene glances at the clock and places quinn down after giving her nose a quick bop with her finger.

"alrighty guys! let's see who can get their backpacks on and in line the quickest! ready...set...go!" selene says a bright smile on her face as she watched the kids all rush to put their backpacks on and form a line.

"hmmm, i think you're all slow! maybe next time you turtles!" selene says with a laugh and the class "boo"'s.

selene jokingly rolls her eyes before going down the line with a basket of lollipops for them each to take one.

she leads the line of kids outside into a little grass field where they sit in a circle and play hand games as they await for parents to arrive. one by one the kids filter out until it's just quinn and selene as quinn's dad gets off of work just as school gets out. she doesn't work to far but it is a bit of a travel to arrive here. selene doesn't mind as it gives her company and quinn is really good at the game "tarzan".

"aha! i won that time!" selene says with a victorious smile on her face.

"awe man! it's ok though. good job! hey miss v, is spring really your favorite season?" the young girl asks.

"hmm, i don't know if i have a 'favorite'. that's a strong word. i like them all but i do enjoy many aspects of spring. i used to really like summer but-oh sorry!" selene catches herself rambling on and laughs as the little girl smiles up at her.

"but what?" she asks.

"hmm?" selene hums.

"you said you 'used liked to summer but...'. but what miss v?" quinn asks her big eyes gleaming in the sun.

"uh. well i don't not like it anymore it's just sometimes-...remember what i told you about special kinds of memories quinn? and how they hold a strong place in a persons heart and can tell a person how to feel?" selene asks her tone becoming a bit more prominent.

"yea." quinn responds simply.

quinn was very bright for her age. she understood many 'big words' and connected the dots with things a lot more.

"well i have many memories of many summers and most of them are very fun and happy times of running on beaches and singing until late but sometimes they can get a bit sad and you begin to miss those memories. and memories are a one stop shop. you make them and you'll keep making them but you can't go back, you can only remember. so i don't hate summer, but it makes me said cause sometimes i just-...i just,...i just miss it. yea. i just miss it." selene says a lowered smile resting upon her lips but her eyes reading more.

quinn doesn't reply automatically yet instead latches her arms around the older girls waist. selene smiles softly, her heart singing a sweet tune as she connects her arms around the younger girls tiny frame.

"miss. v, is the song you were singing yesterday your summer song? it sounded sad." quinn questions softly still holding onto selene.

selene looks at her in question but then remembers yesterday while grading papers and awaiting for quinn's dad to arrive, she hummed a song lightly as quinn drew flowers on a pink piece of construction paper that was now hanging on the classroom wall.

selene chuckled lightly before replying.

"i don't know if it was my summer song and i don't know if it was sad. i think of it more as bittersweet." selene says.

"can you sing it now?" quinn asks looking up at selene and placing herself in her lap and tracing along the flowers on the bottom of selene's yellow dress.

selene nodded before taking a breath and lightly singing to the you girl who let her eyes rest upon the tan brunette.

"salt air, and the rust on your door. i never needed anything more. whispers of "Are you sure?", "never have I ever before...'" selene samg softly begging to braid a strand of the child's hair.

"...but i can see us lost in the memory, august slipped away into a moment in time, 'cause it was never mine..." selene sang again before spotting quinn's dad approaching them with a smile.

selene hummed along nudging quinn to get her to look up and spot her dad. the you girl stood quickly giving selene a smile before running and jumping into her dads arms.

selene stood and brushed her dress off before walking over to the pair.

"thank you again selene! we'll see you next year!" quinn's dad, gordon, says with a smile.

"of course! you two enjoy it and remember to say hi to all the butterflies you see for me ok quinn?" selene says with a faint smirk and a chuckle.

"of course." quinn says skipping over to hug selene.

intertwined in a hug with a girl she feels the hair on her neck tickle as the young girl whispers to her.

"i don't think your song was sad. i think it was blooming into something happy. have a good summer miss.v!" quinn says before latching onto her dads hand and walking down the road with him.

there she left selene standing in the school field her mind soaring above her head. a young girl just spoke words to her that ignited her soul. she wasn't sad. she was just blooming. she had a blossoming flower for a heart and she was in desperate need of sunlight.

after packing up her belongings from the class she would need over spring break, selene made her way out of the school and to the front where a cherry red convertible awaited for her.

"entrate perdenti, noi andiamo a fare shopping!" brigetta shouts as she unbuckles herself and gets upon her knees.

"hello to you too then!" selene jokes with a scoff as she places her bag in the backseat before opening the door and sliding in.

brigetta leans over the seat and places a kiss on the girl's cheek before turning back around and sitting properly. she fixes her sunglasses as nico looks through the mirror and speaks.

"hello sel! how was work? excited for summer break?" nico says before swiftly putting his eyes back on the road and his hand in brigetta's knee.

"it was quite good. i had a nice chat with some students about seasons and such and oh boy i so am ready to relax." selene said her eyes drifting to the windows of the cars passing by.

brigetta glanced at her husband who was already looking at her. they shared a look of worry. in the summer directly after their american friends had left, selene didn't leave out the house much and that wasn't like her. she loved the beauty of summer and having the ability to bask in the sun and dance in the lakes but that summer she seemed to love the ideas of her bed and stacks of sheets.

she eventually grew out of the funk and begin to come around to the idea of summer but it was never fully the same and those close to the girl noticed that. last summer after brigetta and nicolas' wedding, selene seemed different. it looked to be she wasn't effected by it but when she showed up, hair stuck to her face from the rain and tears mixed with the falling droplets, brigetta knew it was something deeper.

she had broken up with ethan, and though the selene told her it was on mutal terms, brigetta knew the real reason she was hurt. that is why this year brigetta declared it the summer of fun. she was going to restore the girls love of summer. and that quest started today.

"where are we heading?" selene asks pulling her hair out of its ponytail and using her hands to fluff it.

"there's some new shops that opened in crema today, so i thought we'd take a little drive there to check them out. that cool?" brigetta says turning her head to look at the girl.

"ooo! sounds fun. even though i'm not wearing my walking shoes so if i get blisters you're gonna have to deal with my jacked up feet." selene says poking her finger in brigetta's face to bother the blonde.

"just sell pictures on the internet. people like that stuff." nicolas says with a shudder of his shoulders as the girls verbally cringe at his words.

the drive isn't to long and soon nicolas pulls into a parking spot and the trio gathering their things before stepping out of the car.

"it's so hot out, i could roast a feast on the windshield." nicolas says tucking his dark floral button up into his maroon pants.

"i could roast a feast on you." brigetta says latching onto nico's arm winking at him.

she was wearing a khaki skirt and a brown cardigan buttoned to be used as a shirt.

"ugh! disgusting. i thought after you two moved out i wouldn't have to hear that lovey dovey shit." selene says laughing and using her hand to block the sun.

brigetta lightly pushes the girl before removing her arm from nicolas' to put her arms around selene's waist and kiss her cheek.

"don't worry you'll always be my first love, and secret lover. he's just the side chick." brigetta laughs making selene lean forward in her laughter.

"you guys got something you wanna tell me?" nicolas says with a smirk, playing into the girls joke.

"yes. nicolas i have been in love with selene this whole time. i'm leaving you for her. oh and also i want to stop by that dress shop! sel you coming?" brigetta says jokingly before grabbing onto nico's hand and turning to look back at selene.

"i'm actually gonna stop in the candle shop first before they close. we can meet up once you're done in the dress stop and grab some food yea?" selene says.

"of course my love. see you in a few." brigetta says.

"see you in a sec. be safe and call if anything!" nico says semi-sternly before being dragged off by brigetta.

selene chuckled at her friends whilst shaking her head and heading in the opposite direction towards the candle shop.

the ends of her dress skipped along with wind as her sneaker bottoms made thumping sounds with each step she took. arriving at the candle shop, the many smells of all the waxes combined together to make a smell that clashed so much it began to just go together and smell nice.

the brunette took a deep breath in with a smile and a nod to the lady at the front desk. she made her way through the colorful isles of all the different scents. since summer was about to begin, the girl had to trade out her autumn ones for something a bit more in season.

grabbing a fresh linen, sunshine, garden, and sea & sand scent each. the girl made her way towards the front to place her candles on the checkout.

she exchanged greetings with the young lady working before her eyes drifted over to the wall with the scents that where supposed to smell like specific places. her eyes danced over them all from italy to brazil all the way to texas. however, her eyes stopped when they landed on one in particular.

new york.

her mind ran wild with many thoughts and her heart seemed to slow it's beating down and intensify its volume. before she knew it, she had reached for it and placed it on the counter as well.

he spoke so highly about it so maybe should she see what a fancy candle shop thought his hometown smelt like or what scents people correlated it to.

"that's funny. our new york ones never sell but today some boy, a tourist i think, came in today and bought like 4 to take back home." the lady randomly said with a chuckle.

selene let out a soft laugh to not be rude but then her mind paused. "some boy?" "a tourist?". it couldn't be. the girl was just overreacting. it was to perfect. she tried to ignore it but her mind ran wild with questions that's needed answers. the italian girl was asking questions before she could stop herself.

"would you happen to remember what he looked like?" selene asked politely the feeling of light sweat droplets forming on her forehead.

"uhhh about this tall....american...pale. like twilight cullen pale. and a lot of hair. curly if you say. and he spoke something about a movie. a set is a bit down the way to the left if you walk." the lady said bagging selene's now paid for candles.

selene felt her heart jump but her mind race. it couldn't be. to many things were adding up. there was only one way the girl could sleep that night and that was to find out for herself.

thanking the lady for the candles and kind information the girl walked out the shop. she turned on her heel to walk out of the shopping center but stopped as her head snapped at the sound of brigetta calling her name.

"sel! where are you going?" brigetta said confusion drawn over her face.

"theres am american film production going on down the street and i thought i'd check it out." selene says quickly.

brigetta furrowed her eyebrows before quickly understanding her best friend. she knew her for years and she knew selene would just walk to a random film set. she knew the girl would be stubborn and not listen if anyone tried to stop her. so with a simple smile she just nodded.

"ok. we'll be here. good luck my love." brigetta said simply as selene latched onto her in a hug before speed-walking into the other direction.

"did i miss something?" nicolas says confusion in his voice and across his face.

"nope. it just stated. c'mon let's go get bread. i want some carbs." brigetta says placing her arm around nico's waist and nico placing his over her shoulders.

selene knew she she was nearing the set due to the small group of people gathered watching all the people moving around nearby, the big trailers, and the many security guards. she began to get nervous wondering how she would get inside and questioned if this was a good idea after all.

she began to walk closer but saw there was no way she would get in. even if she did, where would she go? and say if she walked in the middle of the scene. she made her way past the small group of people and around the side of the gates that enclosed the movie set. she begin to drift in her thoughts but was snapped out by the sound of a women's voice.

"timothée your coffee is here and luca is looking for you on the set in 15!" the voice called quickly and loudly.

"thank you diana! i'll be there shortly." the male replied back.

it couldn't be. she knew that voice and she knew it all to well.
