GROWING UP IN LONDON'S ELITE WAS NOT A TASK FOR THE FAINT OF HEART. One was often subjected to the judgmental stares of mothers of four, the prying of aunts who had no nieces or nephews, the badgering of grandmothers who liked to 'adopt' more grandchildren and, of course, the pairing off that happened between fellow peers. Thankfully, Sirius Black had a bit of a cushion when it came to that area: his best friend, James Potter, was also in the elite and helped ward off any unwanted attention. Unfortunately, James had also just started dating the girl of his dreams: Lily Evans. Now, instead of suffering through parties with his best mate, he's off in another room sucking face with the redhead.Β 

Sirius doesn't blame him, of course. He's happy for the bloke! At long last, all of James' mooning and whining will finally be over. Still, he can't help be a bit bitter now that he's all alone to face the music by himself. Sure, his other two best friends (Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew) could join him, but they weren't really in. In fact, it was almost better if they weren't there. So, he's now set to suffer through giggling girls and manicured mothers while he wishes he was somewhere─ anywhere─ else.Β

― This is inspired by Netflix's Holidate (hence the name of the book.) Nadra and Sirius meet at one of the Black's Christmas parties when they're both 'hiding' from nosy family members who want to know when they'll find a significant other. When they realize that they're in the same boat, they decide to help each other out by fake dating (yes, it's that trope, lol.) However, they only fake date on the holidays when the purebloods get together (summer parties, Christmas, other events that you may want to include.)
Β  Β  Β  ― The Shafiq family is one of the sacred 28 according to the Harry Potter Wiki. Since they're a pureblood family it would make sense that they're invited to any of the parties that families like the Blacks have.

― Nadra isn't very confident and has a lot of anxiety about how she presents herself in the Wizarding world. Her family has drilled it into her to be as perfect as possible, but unlike Sirius she actually cares about what her family thinks of her. She's very reluctant to agree to his suggestion of fake dating because she's worried about what would happen if her family found out.

― As they get to know each other, Sirius inadvertently helps her break out of her shell and stand up for herself. During the summer following the first year of their fake-dating arrangement, they meet up in random Muggle towns to escape their respective families after they realize that they like spending time together.

―Eventually Sirius and Nadra realize that they have feelings for each other. I think some good angst can be introduced when one of their families find out that they are fake dating and decide to arrange a marriage/courtship for them so they're forced to go out with someone 'officially' as a punishment. Maybe this happens for a few parties and either Sirius or Nadra (you can choose who gets the unwanted date) realizes that parties are more enjoyable when they're 'together' and before it's too late, one of them asks the other to go out with them instead of the match that their family found.Β 

― This mostly takes place outside of the school year (Summer and Christmas) as Nadra is either in a different House than Sirius and she doesn't see him much, or I can also picture that the Shafiqs only vacation in England and live elsewhere in Europe for the rest of the time.

― I think that this might work better as an AU (no magic) and James, Sirius and Nadra are just from 'wealthy' families instead of Pureblood ones. They can still go to boarding school with Houses etc., but it would just be normal school.

― Feel free to use any of the graphics provided when creating the book, but make sure you credit me as the creator in addition to the plot. Also, you don't have to use all the quotes provided in the 'description + epigraph' section but I wanted to make sure I got the right vibe across.
