MAX ⸺ from maxine, it's been used for her since she was a child and quite literally everyone uses it, while she has nothing against the name maxine she does 100% prefer being called max, it just feels right, you know?

GUMI/GEUMIE, GUMMIE ⸺ from megumi and geumhee, used by almost everyone and especially now that she lives in Korea, Geumie or Gumi is easier for most than Max! Other people – both fans, friends and strangers – have also drawn the connection to candy from gummy (gummy candy ykyk).

MIGEUMI, MAGEUMI ⸺ from megumi and geumhee, it started with max and some of her friends sitting and messing around with her name. Just saying it repeatedly until they started saying it weirdly and until it stopped sounding real. These friends then started calling her migeumi and mageumi, which other friends picked up on, and now it's just a common ahh nickname for her. Fans have now picked up on the members calling her this from time to time (like if they're "yelling" at her they have a tendency to go "MAGEUMI STOP!!") which fans have noticed, so it's not even contained to just her friend groups anymore lol.

MIEMIE/MIMI ⸺ from megumi and geumhee, not used a lot but her mom likes to call Max "her miemie" and now her siblings use it to tease her from time to time.

YUMYUM, YUMMIE ⸺ from gummie, the fans came up with it and so it's mostly fans who call them this, and even so it's not a regular nickname from fans either.

GUMMY BEAR, HARIBO ⸺ from the gummy nicknames! Her friends first came up with these nicknames for her (and thought they were so smart, but it turns out it's a very obvious nickname once you've heard her being called geumie) and since then people have either heard Max be referred to as Gummy Bear or Haribo and started using it that way, or they've just naturally found it on their own. It's not something a lot of people use to actually call her to try and get her attention, but moreso something they change her name to in their phones or similar.

MT.FUJI ⸺ her name REGULARLY gets misread as mt fuji and so her friends started to jokingly call her it or change her name in their contacts to it, because haha funny.

BRAIN-ROT GEUMI ⸺ pretty straight forward, megumi is extremely into the memes and brainrot business and so of course both members and fans use this.

MENACE MAX ⸺ once again, straight forward. Max has a tendency to be a complete menace to any and everyone, so of course fans and friends call her this!

ENGLISH, fluent + 95% ⸺ she started learning it as a small child as her parents always had plans to move to the US, that just got a little delayed. After their move in 2015 she used it pretty much on the daily and while her use of it has dwindled slightly since moving to SK she's still kept up with english since she's not completely fluent in korean yet.

KOREAN, advanced + 85% ⸺ they started learning it (more lowkey though) in 2018 and in 2020 when their dreams of actually becoming a kpop idol began they started taking it a bit more seriously... but because of their absolute hatred of studying (even things that are necessary, she just cant study) they still havent completely grasped the language. Max knows how to read it, usually understands what people are saying when they're talking to her – as long as they're not like mumbling or using complicated words – and she can hold conversations, but her vocabulary, understanding of korean grammar, and pronunciation of tons of things just isn't the best. All in all, Max gets by with the Korean she knows and she's trying her very best to actually get fluent in the language. This does result in some funny moments though so hey, no harm!

     OLD STAGE NAME ⸺ MAX (막스) when she first debuted she didn't really think much of it; the majority of people still called her Max and she felt it was the easiest option. It's her name, or well the nickname that essentially became her name, so no complicated underlying meanings... just Max! Then, on the 3rd of June 2024 SM Entertainment jumpscared all of B-Sides fans with a "hello, this is SM Entertainment–" message... but it was just informational, saying that Max had decided to change her stage name.

     REASONING FOR NEW ONE ⸺ She felt that Max just... wasn't very her anymore. Yes, people had been calling her Max since she was a kid, but since moving to Korea most people were calling her Geumie, and she was just holding onto "Max" for as long as she could, but most people in her life at this point just knew her as Geumie. So, she changed it to fit what most people knew her as... Geumie! They like being called Geumie, and at this point it was pretty much their name, so yk, nothing better to use for your stage name! Plus, she didn't like people thinking she was a guy just because of Max being a typical guys name, and she felt Geumie fit in better with the group.

Maxine Fujii – born as Megumi, and now more known as Geumie – was born in the town Yoichi on the Japanese island Hokkaido in the winter of 2006. Her family had, prior to her birth, been planning to move to the US for quite some time, but alongside Max coming into existence came a few issues: One – they had previously been planning to move and relocate with the help of Jun (dad)'s work, but the company ended up changing their goals with their US branch and so Jun wouldn't be able to keep his job if they moved, and the family obviously needed income to be able to move. Two – Jun's father (grandpa #1) had gotten sick, and while they weren't needed to take care of him they didn't want to abandon the oldies yk – especially Youko (mum) who was closer to Keiko (grandma #1) and didn't want her to be alone. Three – Maxine wasn't a planned pregnancy so her just.. existing ended up being a change in plans.

While the family still wanted to move, they knew they'd have to delay it to make sure Jun's parents (grandparents #1) would be okay (moreso to make sure that grandma #1 would be okay after her husband eventually passed away), as well as to find solutions to the work problem, and to fix updated visas. Since they still wanted to move to the US, mostly because the parents didn't want their kids to have to become adults in a country with a rather toxic work-life balance, they made sure to keep pushing for their kids and themselves to learn and become fluent in English. When grandpa #1 eventually passed away in 2010 they helped grandma #1 transition into living alone, and then helped her move (Max and Minoru/older brother not included since they were like proper kids).

Then, in 2013 most of everything was fixed so they could move — and in 2014, they moved to the US, more specifically to Tacoma in Washington state. The family got settled pretty quickly, and it wasn't long before the kids got settled in school and made friends.

In 2017 she got into kpop with the BTS "DNA" mv spreading throughout her school, and whilst most kids (moreso the white kids, #lunetraumadumpingthroughocs 😔) were making fun of the whole concept of "kpop" she absolutely fell in love with it all. Then, she found red velvet and twice and ioi and gfriend– and my god, she loved it. She started singing, and then started teaching herself how to dance. Then in 2018, when BTS rap-line performed ddaeng, her eyes opened to rapping. Max started trying to learn how to rap, mainly with listening to and trying to sing along to raps in kpop songs, all because she wanted to be just like her role models. They danced, they sang, they rapped – so of course she should do the same!

As time went on and Max improved her skills, and got deeper into kpop, she realised that... technically, she could also become an idol. She started doing some research into companies and being a trainee, weighed her options and brought it to her parents. After some family discussions, they agreed as long as she'd get settled there before trying to become a trainee. She got into a middle school in Korea, and in late 2019 a 13 year old Max Fujii jumped on a plane to Korea and moved in with a childhood friend of her moms, a family friend. Then, 2020 rolled around and lockdown happened. As the months went on, Max threw herself into the online world, kept skipping school, and after multiple conversations with her parents they said she was allowed to become a trainee once things got safer, but she was allowed to audition; which she did. Max was accepted into, among others, SM Entertainment which she began training at in January of 2021. Then, just about 2 years later, she debuted as the youngest member of SM's newest group B-SIDE.

She's been compared to her company sunbaenim Taemin several times for her high level of chaos, and each time she hears of it she just smiles like an idiot and nods.

Smiles and sunshines ⸺ They are made of 100% concentrated happiness and locally sourced joy. She just spreads happy vibes wherever she goes fr!! Pretty much nobody has ever seen Max actually angry, and the majority of the times she's cried it hasn't been because she's been actually sad, like for B-side's first win or concerts – those are happy tears! It's like you look at her and just have to smile because she's so damn happy, quite annoying smh 😔

If unsupervised access to the internet was a person ⸺ It's well known that Max is someone who practically grew up online – starting as a literal kid on the family computer, and then later on her own phone or laptop, she's just always been on the internet. She's consumed so much media that like at least half of her brain is just memes or internet references. You can trust her to quote random ahh videos out of nowhere, and then a second later say some of the wildest shit anyone ever has, followed by some standard npc 2024 brainrot. Fans like to call her their chronically online child<3 and tell her to touch some grass girl<3

EXTROVERTED. ⸺ Max LOVES people and is like the definition of a social butterfly, everyone she has even the slightest interest in she will befriend, which has resulted in her having tons and tons of friends, both in the industry and in her personal life. Like if she thinks someone looks cool she will just walk right up to them and start a conversation???? And she's just not afraid to talk to strangers? Like Max is 100% the person who tells the server your order is wrong, or the person who goes and gets drinks for everyone. Social anxiety is literally scared of her I swear.

Bad focus and easily distracted ⸺ She has never, ever, been able to properly hold her focus down, especially in school. Like Max could never just start an assignment and then finish the assignment, it took days to start because she'd procrastinate and then get distracted and forget about it. Her brain is forever just chasing the next hit of dopamine, which has ended in extremely bad grades and tons of random information. As they got older they learnt that this wasn't how everyone lived their lives; but they honestly just accepted it. That is until after their debut when Max started seeing compilations and jokes from fans about their "unmedicated adhd".... they are currently in the process of getting a proper adhd assessment....

Stubborn as a mule ⸺ Max is extremely stubborn, like if she's got her mind on something she will do everything in her power to make sure it happens. And if it's something she herself can't do, she will annoy someone with it until they make it happen. If she wants a juice box and there's none left in the fridge? Guess someone has to go to the store to buy more (and listen sometimes that someone is Max herself, and sometimes it's one of her members, or staff, you know how it is!!)

Used to (and sorta tired of) being babied ⸺ They're the youngest, both in their family and in the group, and they've also been the youngest in most of their friend groups... so they're a little bit spoiled, and they've also gotten used to being babied and treated like they're, well, the youngest. Max is used to like... not having to get up and get stuff (their friends tend to go get it for them), and not having to do a ton of chores (she has nothing against doing chores, others just do it for them). She's just gotten used to being babied, by everyone (including fans), and it's getting just a little bit tiring. Max has nothing against her friends helping her with things, but people acting like she's a helpless child who can't do anything is getting annoying. She's literally about to turn 18 guys!

⤷ Max has on several occasions spoken about growing up on the internet, and more specifically on youtube gaming videos (like pewdiepie, markiplier, jacksepticeye, and later also technoblade), and then has mentioned watching a lot of minecraft youtubers.

⤷ Max sort of enjoys horror media, thanks to watching tons of gaming videos growing up she discovered games like fnaf and the forest. Through them, she got into creepypasta, analog horror, indie horror, found footage horror and those kinda things. She does not like horror movies though, give her the youtube series (like marble hornets or local 58) instead of some dumb movie!!
