ㅤ"𝐒𝐎, 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐃𝐀𝐃 𝐈𝐒 𝐈𝐑𝐎𝐍 𝐌𝐀𝐍?" Jessica asked her friend, her face in disbelief. She gaped when Maria nodded, with a small smile on her face. "Oh, my God! I can't believe I just met Tony Stark! Looked like an absolute idiot, too! But, seriously..."
"Jess, you know you're gonna have to keep this to yourself, right?" Maria asked, yet her eyes held something like desperation. "I've told you before why I used my mom's name. That hasn't changed. Not 'til my dad's ready."
Jessica sighed, her gaze turning sad. "I used to think it was weird how you were sent to Forks of all places, but now that I know...yeah, I'll keep your secret. You can trust me."
"Jess, no offense, but you're the biggest gossip I know," Maria gave her a look. "It doesn't mean I don't trust you, but..."
"Oh no, I completely understand, I take no offense to that," Jessica smiled. "I mean, yeah I admit, this revelation is something that I know would stir up some drama, but you're one of the few people in our year that I actually respect. You and Angela, actually. So, yeah, it's gonna be your decision if you wanna tell people or not."
A smile was shared between the two. "Thanks, Jess."
"Oh, here's your homework, by the way," Jessica laughed. "Before I forget, you know? And also, the Cullens are back, did you hear?"
Maria scoffed. "Of course, I did."
"Well, Bella's back with Edward, what a shocker," Jessica rolled her eyes, faking a giggle. Maria noticed and proceeded to laugh, momentarily forgetting her previous predicament with her father and Paul. "I mean, I can't believe she got back to him so quick. As if he didn't just leave her to die!"
Maria nodded in agreement. "Yeah, that's true..."
"Well, she was quite the character," Tony approached his daughter, although a bit hesitantly, after she waved goodbye to her friend. "You two close?"
Maria sighed, but she still answered. "Yeah, we weren't at first. But after getting to know each other a little better, we got along. You know," meeting her father in the eye, she didn't hesitate. "If you'd only give Paul a chance--"
"Oh, come on," Tony raised his arms up in exasperation. "That boy made you drive all the way to the reservation and for what? You can't even tell me why, all because of him!"
"Correction, he didn't make me do anything," Maria shot back. "I made my own decision to go there. He didn't even know I was gonna come! A friend of his was the one who called me, and said it was an emergency, so I went!"
"What emergency?! Huh?!" Tony shook his head. "What emergency?! What was so important that you had to go there in the middle of the night? And what's so important that you can't even tell me?!"
"Well, you're one to talk!" Maria shouted, which her dad actually flinched at. "You didn't even tell me about what happened in Monaco! Even when I went home for Christmas! I had to learn from Happy!"
"I didn't want you to worry--"
"Neither do I!" Maria ran a hand through her hair. "Do you understand where I'm going with this?"
"...Yes," Tony sighed. "But Mia, it's different."
"How?"
"You're my daughter, Mia," Maria's glare softened at her father's words. "It's a parent's job to keep their children from harm, it's also why I made you come here and use your mom's name. I do understand that yes, you're entitled to your secrets, and I kinda understand now that you may be keeping this from me to keep me...safe...but I'm Iron Man."
"No, you're my dad," Maria's lower lip trembled as her stiff figure slumped in exhaustion, before she pulled her dad into a hug. "You're Iron Man to most people, Tony Stark to some, but to me, you're just dad." A single tear rolled down her eye, and she sniffled, "I hate fighting with you."
Tony sighed, pulling his daughter even closer. "I hate it too."
"So," Maria looked at her father, "you willing to give Paul a chance?"
Tony rolled his eyes with a sigh, but a smile was upon his lips as he stared down at his daughter. "Fine."
"Hey," the group all greeted Bella and Edward in unison, even Maria, who Bella gave a hesitant smile to. Maria only stared at her before turning back to Mike, who was 'helping' Jessica with her speech. After Maria admitting she didn't like public speaking, she convinced the principal to let Jessica speak instead; the principal agreed.
"Just in time," Mike acknowledged. "Alright, check it out."
"Alright, let's see what you got," Eric nodded to Mike.
"'My fellow students'," Mike began.
"Cool," Eric was quick to agree, earning him a slap on the head from Maria, who snorted at his reaction.
"Right?" Mike was unfazed, Jessica and Maria both giving him a look.
"Wow," Jessica said sarcastically. "Cute."
"'We are the future, anything is possible...if you just believe.'"
"Nice," Maria scoffed.
"Blah, blah, blah," Mike shrugged.
"Perfect," Eric commented.
"And you got yourself a speech!"
"No!" Jessica took back her notepad. "This will be my speech when I want everyone to throw diplomas at my head." She crumpled the paper, throwing it at Mike who didn't even flinch. "So, thank you."
"You gotta embrace the clichés, Jess," Mike noted.
"They are the bread and butter of all valedictorians," Eric pointed at Maria who rolled her eyes at him, "and salutatorians," he pointed at Jessica, "who are doing the valedictory speech."
"That in itself is already not a cliché," Maria sighed, sharing a look with Jessica who smiled at her.
"That's why you are neither of those," Angela said to her boyfriend, who looked a little offended.
"And Jess doesn't need clichés," Bella spoke up, her lips pulled in a typical Bella Swan style. "Speech is gonna be epic."
"Epic? It'll change lives," Jessica said, high-fiving Maria.
Suddenly, Jasper and Alice sat with the humans, with Jasper giving his seatmate a smile. He was relieved when Maria expressed herself eloquently, explaining that she understood why they did what they did, but was still disappointed in how they did it, especially without saying goodbye to her or giving Bella a proper farewell.
"I've decided to throw a party," Alice announced.
"After all," Jasper gave a discreet smile to his brother. "how many times are we gonna graduate high school?"
"A party? At your place?" Angela curiously asked.
"I've never seen your house," Jessica suddenly said.
"No one's ever seen their house," Eric reminded her.
"Another party, Alice?" Edward asked his sister. Both humans present in the party last time had sudden flashbacks of the disaster.
"It'll be fun," Alice reasoned.
"Yeah, that's what you said last time," Bella and Maria unexpectedly spoke in unison.
Alice was suddenly silent, and her eyes distant. Realizing what's happening, Maria spoke up. "Speaking of parties, my birthday is today."
"Wait, what?"
"You never told us!"
"Excuse me?"
"Happy birthday!"
Maria laughed at the variety of responses. "Yeah, well, sorry I never told you. But, I am having a small get-together and you guys are obviously invited. We're just gonna watch a movie or two, y'know. And, no need for presents."
"Ooh!" Jessica excitedly exclaimed. "Is it just us?"
"Well, I'm inviting some friends from the res," all vampires stiffened at this, "so, you might be meeting a few new people."
"Awesome!" Mike grinned. "I've never been to your house!"
"I have," Jessica gave them all a proud smile. "And you're all gonna love it!"
Tony decided that he needed to hide away for a while, realizing that being there while Maria celebrated was a little risky. And despite him being sad about not being able to celebrate the day with his daughter, Tony had a plan to reveal his daughter to world soon as his birthday gift to her, and he didn't want the plan to fail. So, with a kiss on her cheek, he told her he'd be back after everyone left.
Maria wasn't surprised that none of the vampires decided to attend after knowing the wolves were going to attend, but all of them had texted her a happy birthday, and had Bella deliver their presents to her—all of which were bought earlier in the month because Alice saw it coming. Bella was the first to arrive, carrying all the gifts with her.
"Happy birthday," Bella awkwardly cleared her throat. "Where can I put all of these?"
"C'mon," Maria ushered her in, giving her a small smile. "Just put it on the coffee table."
Bella did as she commanded, before turning to her. "Hey, um, I'm sorry...for..."
"Yeah," Maria shrugged. "You were a bitch."
Bella flinched. "I deserve that. And I know you might not forgive me anytime soon, and I understand that what I did was dumb."
"Not dumber than getting back with Edward, that's for sure," Maria snorted. "Look, let's just forget about it. I mean, I am still friends with the Cullens, so me denying your apology would be stupidly hypocritical of me. But I wanna let you know that...we'll never be as close as we once were, and I don't think I'll ever...do that again for you."
"Yeah, I can...I can deal with that," Bella sighed. "I'll...just sit here, yeah?"
"Sit anywhere you want," Maria shrugged, before the doorbell rang. She gave Bella a smile, before walking towards the door and saw four of her human friends. "Hey! You all carpooled?"
"Yep!" Jessica exclaimed before giving her a hug. "By the way, this gift," she gestured to the small box she held in her hand, "was so last-minute! You should've warned me!"
"I told you, no need for presents!" Maria laughed, returning the hug, before exchanging smiles with the others, who surprisingly all held gifts. "Come in, Bella's inside!"
As soon as Eric stepped in, he whistled under his breath. "Woah, your house is awesome!"
"Thanks!"
"Wait, is that a popcorn and a cotton candy machine?!" Mike asked excitedly as they all entered the living room, where Bella waved at them from the couch.
"My absolute favorite thing in this house, honestly," Jessica grinned, walking towards the cotton candy machine. She had used this more than ten times already, her sweet tooth completely in awe of it. Victoria had let her use it as much as she wanted. "Where's Aunt Vic?"
"She's just gonna finish her shift," Maria shrugged.
Soon, Sam, Jared, and Embry arrived, along with Emily and another girl, but Paul wasn't present. Seeing her dejected expression, Emily hugged the younger girl. "He...told us that he didn't think your aunt or your dad would appreciate him being here. He says he's sorry, and that he'll call you later."
Maria sighed. "I understand, come in. Oh, who is this?" She gestured to the new girl, giving her a friendly smile.
"This is Kim," Jared grinned, a proud look on his face. "She's my imprint."
"Nice," Maria nodded. "She's a little too pretty for you, though."
"Hey!"
The get-together had been a blast, with everyone surprisingly getting along pretty well. Everyone freaked out over the popcorn and cotton candy machines, with Embry refilling his bucket every five minutes. It got even more fun when Victoria arrived, giving them winks as she each gave them a can of beer.
"Just one each," she had teased. "I'm not gonna give you anymore. And happy birthday, ladybug."
"Your aunt's awesome!" Embry exclaimed. "And why ladybug?"
"I was apparently wearing a ladybug onesie when I first met her," Maria revealed. "And yeah, she is awesome."
Soon, they've watched all three of the original Indiana Jones movies, and Mike had dozed off, his head on Eric's shoulder who also fell asleep. Using this opportunity, Angela and Maria, who were photographers, were quick to pull out their phones to take pictures, laughing.
It was midnight when everyone decided to leave. The pack were the first to leave, whispering to Maria that they had patrol. The imprints had exchanged numbers, and agreed to meet again some time soon. The humans soon retired back home, Jessica driving each of her friends back to their houses. Bella was the last to leave.
"Hey, before you leave," Maria ran back to her room to get a small box. "Can you tell Edward to give this to Rosalie?"
"Uh, sure," Bella smiled. "I'll see you soon, Mia."
A couple of nights later, Maria was suddenly awoken by a pebble hitting her window. With a frown, she stood up from her bed and walked closer to the window. Looking down, she saw Paul standing just outside her window. His hair was wet, as if he'd just left the shower.
Opening her window, she whisper-shouted. "What are you doing here?"
"I'm coming in."
With a nod, Maria rushed to lock her door, turning around just in time to see Paul grab onto her window ledge.
"What happened?" She asked.
"It's Victoria, we were chasing after her when one of the vamps jumped into our territory," Paul bristled, holding Maria's hand.
His imprint tsked. "You know, you guys should work together. You have a common enemy now. No need to go all werewolf versus vampire, especially not when lives are in danger."
"I know," Paul sighed. "It just angered me so much. That, and I haven't seen your face in so long."
Maria gave him a small smile. "Hey, you can sneak into my room anytime." Paul began to smirk. "Not like that!"
Paul chuckled. "Well, you offered." He sighed, before sitting on her bed, with her sitting right beside him. "How's...how's your dad?"
"Well, he's willing to give you a chance--"
"Not anymore, I'm not," Tony suddenly burst into the room, his face all red with anger. "Get out!"
"Dad--"
"That mumbo jumbo about vampires and werewolves--"
"Mr. Stark," Paul stood up, giving Maria a reassuring glance. "I've talked to the council. They invited you over at the rez to explain, everything."
Tony relaxed a little, but a frown was still on his face. "I still don't believe a single word coming out of your mouth. I..." he looked at his daughter's pleading face. "Fine! When?"
"Tomorrow," Paul informed him.
"What time?"
"Mia might have to skip school," he shrugged.
"Alright." Tony sighed. "But if I catch you in my daughter's room one more time..."
"Oh, yeah," Paul grimaced. "I'll...see you both tomorrow." To try and prove that he was supernatural, he jumped out the window with no hesitation. Landing almost gracefully, he turned to give his imprint a smile before he ran towards the woods.
"He's a strange boy," Tony noted. "And the werewolves and vampires thing? Come on."
Oh, just you wait, dad, Maria thought to herself. Just you wait.
author's note: it's kinda difficult for me to align events in twilight movies to mcu movies skjdhfdksjhf although, i really want y'all to know:
maria moves to forks march 2011, may 2011 is iron man 2, mia comes home christmas 2011, then the cullens arrive back to forks march 2012. mia's bday is march 29th (she's an aries), and there's this whole time skip from april to may where nothing really happens in twilight, but that's when the first avengers movie occurs. june 2012 will be graduation, and that's also when the newborn battle happens. then after that, breaking dawn.
so yeah that's it lmao. hope you guys enjoy this super long chapter! please don't forget to vote and tell me what you think! don't hesitate to point out any spelling or grammatical mistakes!
