THE PERKS OF BEING NEXT door neighbors with your best friend meant they would drive to school together almost every day.

Today was particularly a more special day since this was Miguel's first day back after the accident.

Miguel and Lexi walked into West Valley with a warm entrance. A 'welcome back' sign was made for Miguel, courtesy of Lexi.

"Did you do this?" Miguel looked over to Lexi.

"Maybe, well, not just me. I had help."

"Aww, come here." Miguel gave Lexi a long and passionate hug, appreciating he has a best friend like her.

"El Serpiente." Lexi and Miguel broke apart the hug after hearing Hawk's voice. Miguel's smiled and gave him the signature bro shake.

''What's up?"

"Welcome back, man." Hawk turned to Lexi and grabbed her by the waist then pulled her in for a kiss.

"Woah, when did you guys get back together?" Miguel stood there, awkward, feeling like a third wheel with his best friends.

"A few days ago actually," Lexi told Miguel feeling guilty she didn't tell him earlier.

"How come you didn't tell me? We've basically been hanging out every day for the past two weeks."

"Well, I'm sorry I've been trying to help you walk again." Miguel playfully rolled his eyes.

"Well, I'm glad you guys are back together. You guys are an iconic couple."

"Aww, thanks Miggy."

Hawk was about to say something, but the bell interrupted him. "Hey, I got to get to class. I'll see you later Birdy." Hawk nodded then gave Lexi a quick kiss, leaving her walking with Miguel to their class.

Miguel was looking at Lexi, making her glare at him. "Dude, what the hell are you staring at?"

"Just can't believe you guys are back together. It really seemed like you guys were done." Miguel looked at Lexi as if he was sad.

"Yeah, me too, but stuff happened. How come you keep talking about it? What do you like me or something?" Lexi joked, but Miguel had a serious face then sighed, but she didn't notice.

The pair walked silently for a while until they ran into Demetri at his locker. "Hey, the Comeback kid. Welcome back! I hope to make a similar triumphant return to the land of the mobile appendage masses."

"What's up with the cast?"

"Proximal radius factor."

"It smells." Lexi rolled her eyes at Yasmine, but couldn't help but admire her outfit.

"Cute outfit Yas." Yasmine looked at Lexi and stared at her up and down before answering.

"Thanks, Lex."

"I put a lemon rind down there to mitigate that. The invitation for you to sign still stands." Yasmine gave Demetri a fake smile and pushed away from the pen.

"Hard pass." With that, Yasmine left the group and walked away.

"So uh, how did you break your arm?" Lexi and Demetri looked at each other before looking back at Miguel.

"We have a lot to catch up on."

Lexi was sitting in Hawk's lap at the lunch table being the cute couple they were. Mitch was on his way to sit at the Cobra Kai table. Hawk picked up Lexi and put her in another chair when he put his foot up to block Mitch from sitting down.

"Sorry, the party is full."

"Where am I suppose to sit?"

"The rejects table. Over there."

"Um, babe, I think Mitch can be an excep-" Hawk cut off Lexi by giving her a look, meaning she should stop talking.

Lexi sighed, knowing the side of Hawk was starting to come out again. She hasn't seen the side of Eli in a while and she missed him.

Miguel came through the cafeteria doors making Lexi smile at him, but he had an angry look on his face.

"Hey man." Hawk got up from his seat to greet Miguel, but he did not look happy with him at all. This made Lexi get up from her seat to be the middle man if anything went wrong.

"I heard what happened with Demetri. How could you do that?" Miguel was beyond pissed now. Hawk had a look of regret for a split second, but that disappeared quickly.

"You should be thanking me for getting revenge on Miyagi-do. Besides they start the fight we just finished it." Lexi rolled her eyes then sighed, pissed off Hawk was so hung up on the rivalry.

"That's not what sensei taught us."

"He's not my sensei anymore." Lexi shook her head, disappointed and sad at Hawk.

"After everything he did for you, you betrayed him."

"Hey betrayed us." Miguel took in a deep breath trying to contain his anger. Lexi noticed and she tried to end the conversation.

"Guys this is ridiculous we should just-" Miguel cut off Lexi. She was starting to get annoyed at all the times these boys cut her off.

"Look this isn't you talking, this is Kreese, he's gotten in your head. You can change that if you leave Cobra Kai and join sensei Lawrence's new dojo. If you come, others will follow."

"Seriously, Eli, you should join, I'm going to join." When Lexi said she was going to join, it made him think.

"He has a new dojo?" Miguel and Lexi were about to speak up until they were interrupted by Kyler talking.

"Hey, guys. Check this guy out. Standing around with a dick in his hand. " Lexi felt really bad for Demetri. She wanted to talk to him, but she saw Yasmine already walk after him. It made her smile that Yasmine started to turn over a new leaf.

"So these are your friends now?" Hawk looked at Miguel walking away, making him frown.

"God, I hate it when Eli makes the rivalry between the dojos everything. That's one of the main reasons why I broke up with him in the first place." Lexi was ranting to Miguel at his locker. Miguel wanted to say something, but he didn't know what to say, so he just stayed quiet.

A knock on the lockers made Lexi and Miguel jump.

"Sensei?"

"Dad?"

"How did you get through security," Miguel asked, wondering how he was able to get through the school even with the guards.

"I went to school here. Think I don't know all the secret ways in?" Lexi shook her head and smiled at her dad's sarcasm.

"Hey, I got some good news. Found us a pretty sweet spot for the new dojo." Miguel and Lexi smiled, finally something good coming out of the day.

"How's the recruiting going?" Miguel frowned and that was a clear answer for Johnny. Lexi gave Miguel a comforting hug, him hugging back. Miguel closed his locker and the trio started to walk through the halls.

"That bad?"

"It's just that everything has changed dad. Cobra Kai drank the Kool-Aid."

"Kool-Aid? What's wrong with Kool-Aid?"

"There's just no convincing for them to leave. " Johnny looked over Lexi's shoulders and he saw the Cobra Kai kids standing there.

"Wait here." Johnny started to walk towards the kids, and Lexi and Miguel followed immediately, not knowing what Johnny would do.

"Okay listen up!" Johnny yelled, grabbing the kids' attention.

"I screwed up and I'm sorry. I made it about me and that's not what a sensei does. I took the easy way out. I gave up." Johnny paused before speaking up again.

"What happened here at this school...it rocked me to my core. I couldn't look at myself in the eye, let alone face all of you."

"Yeah, I guess it makes it easier to tell yourself that. But the truth is, you bailed on us long before that fight happened. You got soft. And we paid the price." Johnyn walked closer to Hawk, making Lexi more uncomfortable, wondering what he was going to say.

"Now you listen up. When you came to my dojo, you were softer than a baby's ass. I made you what you are, not Kreese. He doesn't give a shit about you. About any of you. If you wanna keep whining about the past like a bunch of pussies, fine. Wanna stick with Kreese? Go ahead."

"Don't say I didn't warn you when your life ends in the shitter. Or you can sack up and join my dojo. Havenhurst and Magnolia, tomorrow at 4:00. If you wanna train yourselves the right way, then be there."

Johnny pushed past the boys. "And don't be late!" Johnny knocked down a kid's textbooks but quickly apologized after.

"Sorry kid, old habit."
