โ•ฐโ”ˆหš ยท ยฐ . ย  WHEN I CAME BACK HOME, I found out that Elena had gone off the grid for more than an entire day, only to come back with some interesting news.

She was adopted.

"How is it possible that you look exactly like Kathrine? Even if she was your ancestor it's impossible to look identical, not even twins are the same." I questioned my sister as we both sat on her bed.

Elena sighed, bringing her hands behind her head as she laid down, "I don't know how it's possible, Meda. But from the photo that Stefan had... we look like the same person."

"And are you sure that he is not dating you because-"

"I look like his ex? No, he was clear with me of his reason. He said that he made sure, even before meeting me, that I wasn't her but when he decided to leave town he said that he couldn't do it before he had met me." She had a small smile on her as she spoke.

"You two are together again then?"

"Yeah."

I ponder on what to say next. She had opened up with me, telling me her secret, her burdens, and I couldn't help but feel a bit bad about not sharing with her the details of my life that were known just to me and Zyran. "Do you think that you can handle a bit more of weird supernatural things?" I asked her.

"Why? What happened?" She furrowed her brows, leaning her weight on her elbow to look at me.

"I'm not human." I revealed to her avoiding eye contact,"And no, I'm not a vampire." I added before she could even think of it.

"What?"

"There are so many supernatural creatures that exist. I'm a Nymph, I only recently found out."

"How is it possible and what exactly is a Nymph?" She had taken better than I had expected.

"Nymphs are types of faeries, they are spirits of nature connected to specific elements. I'm an Asteriai Nymph, a spirit of the stars and constellations. And from how it's possible... I'm a changeling. I was birthed by our mother but I was not conceived by our parents. I was sent to Miranda, the how or why, well, I still don't know."

"So you are a faerie, like Tinker Bell?"

I laughed at her comparison, "Yeah but more like Tinker Bell in the movie with all the other fairies. They are all sorted in categories like water or light. It's similar to the Nymphs."

"Oh."

Silence stretched between us as we both layed down on her bed thinking about how our life had changed in the span of only a few months.

Suddenly her hand took mine, "We are sisters."

"We will always be sisters."

โ•ฐโ”ˆหš ยท ยฐ . ย The 50s decade dance was something that I was dreading, because those fabric prints were an eyesore. I had decided, after a long consideration, that the most print I could wear was on some shorts. In 1950's Los Angeles fashion-โ€“ or more so beach fashionโ€” I had found some diamond-print short shorts to wear, the color teal and white. I had on a white square neck top, and I covered everything with one of Zyran's leather jackets. It was 50s fashion enough for my taste. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't even good. At least that was my thought about it.

"Hey, are you ready?" I knocked on my sister's room, seeing her already prepared. Her phone in hand as she had just finished a call, and the compassโ€” the Gilbert compass that was actually spelled to find vampires-โ€“ in the other. She was wearing blue pants cut at the calf, a light blue dress shirt with a bright pink belt and a foulards that had the same color. The hair on her head was styled to create a bump but the rest remained straightened.

I was going to see a lot of those nightmare-inducing hairstyles like that tonight.

"Yeah."

"Is everything alright?" I asked motioning with my head the compass in her hand.

"It's Stefan. He should be here soon. Let's go."

But as her feet touched the first floor, out of nowhere a vampire attacked her before he was thrown away by Stefan. Taking his chance, the new vampire quickly made his escape.

"What just happened?"

โ•ฐโ”ˆหš ยท ยฐ . ย Zyran, had already been on his way to my house when I called him telling him about the attack. He and Damon had both joined the rest of us in the living room.

"Question number one. How the hell did he get in?" I asked.

"He was invited in. He posed as a pizza delivery guy last night." Elena explained, still in shock from the attack.

"Well, he gets points for that." Damon commented. "Did he say what he wanted?"

"No, he was too busy trying to kill her." I replied, giving the vampire a nasty look. I didn't like him. Not after what he had done to Caroline.

"And you have no idea who this is?" Stefan asked his brother. After all, the older Salvatore had a gift in creating enemies.

"No. Don't look at me like that. I told you we had company." Damon said, his sarcasm increased when he turned to Zyran. "Maybe you know who he is, Human Torch."

"Human Torch, really?" My mate asked, clearly not amused.

"You are the one that almost burned me alive the other night. Clearly you are not a vampire, and definitely not a witch since your fire was blue." Damon chuckled, finding funny his own words. He looked at me, a smirk ever present on his lips. "Do you even know what your boyfriend is?"

"Someone with basic human respect and not an abuser?" I commented back infusing the words with venom.

"Watch it." The vampire grinded his jaw.

Unmoved by his threat, I leaned back into the couch, not even sparing him a glance as I replied, "Or what? Are you going to compel me to be your girlfriend too?"

He vamp-speeded in front of me only to be thrown back into the wall by Zyran who effortlessly appeared in the middle of us two, eyes ablaze with blue. "Try to even go near her and not even ashes will remain of you when I'll be done." he had delivered the words with his usual charming smile, but the anger was there, he was just good at masking it.

"Stop it. All of you!" Elena snapped, hand touching both men's chest. And I had the sudden urge to slap her hand away from Zyran, I urge that I fortunately squashed down.

"He was invited in." Stefan said, coming back to the previous conversation.

"Then we go get him tonight." Damon told him. He glanced at my sister, "You up for it?"

"What do I have to do?"

"Let your boyfriend take you to the dance. We'll see who shows up."

"That's a bad idea." Stefan shook his head, not agreeing with his brother.

"Till we get him, this house isn't safe. For anyone who lives in it. It's worth a shot." Damon said actually not being wrong. But from the way he emphasized the 'anyone' I knew he was trying to play Elena's strings. And succeeded as my sister agreed soon later.

"I'll do it. " Elena nodded her head before turning to her boyfriend. "I'll be with the three of you. I'll be safe."

"Two." Zyran corrected, "I'm taking my girlfriend to the dance and if I see the vampire, I'll kill him. If not, tonight I'll go hunting and end this for everyone."

Did he just call me his girlfriend?

The question repeated in my mind until we were in the car headed to school.

"Are you worried about the vampire?" He asked, gaze switching from me to the road.

"You called me your girlfriend." I grinned, widening even more when he avoided my eyes.

"You are my mate." He said in a soft tone. I was pretty sure he was too embarrassed to look at me, suddenly very shy.

That's so fucking cute.

"I don't want to tell them about the mate bond so I guess boyfriend and girlfriend it is." I told him, taking one of his hands in mine. "Does that mean I can kiss you?"

He chuckled, the shy look gone and replaced with his charismatic grin, "Whenever you want, Darlin'."

โ•ฐโ”ˆหš ยท ยฐ . ย We lasted no more than an hour to the school dance and when Bonnie and Caroline had decided to dip and go to the Grill inviting me with them, I was more than grateful to accept.

To Zyran's words, both Salvatore's brothers were enough to catch and kill a vampire but just to be sure that the threat was going to die tonight, he stayed back. Even when it was clear that he would have loved to be anywhere else but there. Feeling guilty of leaving him behind alone, I decided to stay, that was until he made sure to tell Caroline and Bonnie to just drag me away with them and to enjoy the rest of the night.

I didn't even have the chance to kiss him before the two girls ganged up on me and pulled me away with them.

"It was time that you two got together." Caroline stated when I complained about it. "Did you two already get freaky?" Her eyebrows wiggled as she teased me.

"Oh my god, Caroline!" Bonnie laughed before grinning towards me awaiting my answer as eager as the blonde.

"You too? Really?" I asked in disbelief at the witchโ€” who just shrugged her shoulders in reply. "No. But there is no need to rush." I decided to answer.

"I'm not one to say this, usually, but I'm sure that it is going to be worth the wait."

"Caroline!" Bonnie screamed the name of the girl again while I could just stay mouth open and no thoughts left in my mind.

"Have you looked at him! Please, that's the type of guy that knows what to do. And from the way he acts I just know it's 'you first and then me.' If you know what I mean." Caroline said, waving a nonchalant hand not ashamed or embarrassed in the slightest.

I chuckled until they morphed into a full blown laugh. "My poor thoughts."

"I would say more, your poor vagina."

"Caroline!"

โ•ฐโ”ˆหš ยท ยฐ . ย The Mystic Grill was always busy. I don't think I had been there once when there weren't at least half of the tables full. That night was the same.

We entered the restaurant, scanning the table for an empty one when Bonnie spoke. "Let's sit up there." she said motioning with her head the free spots at the counter. Her eyes, thought, were on the bartender just behind it.

"Be a little more obvious, Bonnie." Caroline told her having caught the direction of the witch's eyes.

"Don't rain on my hot-guy parade."

"What? It's just a drizzle. I mean, Ben McKittrick, really?"

"He's hot." The Bennet girl commented.

"She is right. He is not bad." I agreed with her.

Caroline didn't think so. "He's a washed-up jock who pours drinks for a living." she said anawere of Matt standing just behind her.

My eyes widened and I slapped the girl on the shoulder shaking my head at her.

"What?" Caroline asked, not understanding. "She could do way better. Hey!" She saluted Matt as he passed.

Not even looking at her, the boy responded. "What's up?"

Caroline's eyes saddened, lips pulling tight at the corner as she realized her mistake.

"Come on. Let's just sit down." I exchanged a quick look with Bonnie as we led the girl down to a free table.

"Tonight was so much better on paper." Caroline mumbled as she played with her food. Not in the mood to eat anymore.

"You're just feeling sorry for yourself." Bonnie said, taking her eyes off the bartender to speak.

"Well she did insult him." I said, and when the Bennett girl narrowed her eyes as Caroline deflated more, I quickly added "Even if she did not mean it. Mistakes happen."

"Go and talk to him." Bonnie told the girl trying to make up for my harsh words. "Be bold and fearless."

"Yeah, this coming from the girl who's been eye-stalking the bartender." Caroline said, stating facts since Bonnie had done that since when had taken the first step inside the bar.

"Prove your words right, Bon-Bon." I winked at the girl once I saw that she was actually convincing herself to make the first move.

"You're right." Respelnihshed with confidence, Bonnie approached the bartender.

When Caroline started to talk with Matt, I took my cue to go. I quickly said goodbye to the two girls before making my way home.

The stars shined down on me, my back tingled as I named every constellation that I was able to see blanketing me in a cocoon of serenity. I didn't even notice that I was already in front of my house until I almost tripped.

Cursing out loud I snapped my gaze away from the celestial bodies. I noticed a small gash on my arm that quickly healed where the forearm had hit a bush as I tried to stabilize myself. Then came the meow.

Fur black as the night that I was sure it could blend easily with the shadows, two different colored eyesโ€” one crystal blue, looking like a marble glass, the other other brown, almost as dark as its fur.

A cat. I had almost tripped over a cat.

The animal let out another meow before brushing his head against my leg purring loudly.

It was the cutest thing ever. I melted at the sight, crouching down so I could pet her. The cat had no collar, itโ€” she was clean, but as I made to step away, she just started to follow me.

Thinking that maybe she was hungry I placed a plastic plate with some cooked beef we had stashed in the fridge and a bowl of water in front of the house thinking that she would leave once she was done. But as I layed down ready to sleep, the cat jumped on my bed. She stared at me for a few seconds before curling on herself and falling asleep next to me.
