“Close your eyes!” Tara demanded excitedly and quickly put her arms around Madison's shoulders to cover her eyes.

“Please don’t let me run into anything, I trust you here”, chuckled the younger brunette, who only saw black and hoped that Tara was giving her the right instructions. “Can I finally see it now? Why even with my eyes closed?”

Even though Madison couldn't see it, Tara lifted one of her eyebrows. “Uhm, because it’s supposed to be a surprise?”

“Jesus, she's really impatient”, Jax snickered with a grin, causing Tara to snort a laugh and nod her head.

“That she is. Worse than Abel”, the doctor whispered, amused.

With her hands stretched slightly to the side to get some sense of her surroundings, Madison acted offended. “You know I can hear you, right?”

“Oh, we know, darlin'”, Jax answered simply and finally helped Tara lead his half-sister through the house until they finally reached Annie's room.

He and Happy had been setting everything up for the last three hours and Gemma also came over to decorate, something neither he nor Happy was good at. Overall, he was really happy with the result, although Happy had been picky and moved the furniture back and forth until he was really convinced that it was perfect.

To be honest, Jax found it quite amusing to see how nervous the big bad killer got when it came to his daughter and making Madison happy. Which was a good thing, at least he knew that his sister had someone at her side who would do anything for her and his niece.

“Can I finally see it now?” Growing  more and more impatient, Madison asked again as they came to a stop. She blindly groped for Tara's hands, which she tried to push away from her eyes. “You’re really testing me here!”

“Not yet”, Tara said firmly, clearly enjoying teasing her sister-in-law.

Only when Madison felt Happy's presence next to her, who placed his hand on her lower back and gave Tara permission with a nod, did the doctor take her hands away and take a step to the side.

“I hope you like it, babe”, Happy rasped into her ear, rubbing his palm across her back before giving her a moment to take everything in.

With her lips slightly parted, a gasp escaped as her green eyes scanned the room for every little detail. Shocked by what Happy had pulled off, she brought her hands to her mouth and folded them over it.

“This is... indescribably beautiful”, she whispered, not even sure if the others could even hear her.

“It totally is”, Tara agreed with an eager nod, who also just saw the finished result for the first time. “This makes me want to have a girl!”

Jax wiggled his eyebrows with his infamous  Teller grin and threw his arm over Tara's shoulders. “We can try any time, babe.”

“Maybe I’ll come back to that, babe” Tara whispered against the blonde’s lips, smirking.

“Hey, not in the baby’s room. Save such conversations for later”, Happy warned with a chuckle, whose eyes immediately landed back on Madison. “If you don’t like something, we can always change it.”

“Are you kidding?” Madison's head quickly snapped towards Happy, whereupon she quickly shook her head and smiled from ear to ear. “The room is perfect. I would never have been able to do it like that.”

She meant her words and didn't say them just to please Happy. He had really made an effort, she could see that in everything in the room. The light gray walls were decorated with butterflies that were glued to the wall in a 3D effect. At least on the side where the bed was and a white armchair that Happy must have gotten without her.

On the opposite side of the room there was a lovingly designed play area with the first books, building blocks, stuffed animals and a doll. Even though Annie wouldn't be able to play with it for a few months, Madison still thought the gesture was super cute and probably would have done the same.

With one hand resting on her stomach, she walked slowly towards the closet. One side had no door; all the clothes that she had previously bought and some that she had not seen before were hanging there.

“These are from Happy's mom and me”, Gemma chimed in after she entered the room with Thommy in her arms, closely followed by Abel, who gasped enthusiastically and immediately sat down in the play area to look through the books.

“Abel, that’s not yours”, Tara said lovingly sternly, but Madison just waved her off.

“Let him play.” She knew that Abel wouldn't break anything, not on purpose. And Happy agreed with his Old Lady and answered with a grunt.

“Okay, but be careful, Buddy”, Jax said to his son, who nodded eagerly.

“I won't break Annie's things, I promise”, he sing-sang as he leafed through a book.

After Madison had hugged Gemma, Tara and Jax in turn did she wrap her arms around Happy's waist and snuggle close to him, her face halfway hidden in his chest to hide how emotional she was by now.

Not every man would put in so much effort for his family, and she really appreciated that. To be honest, she didn't even know how to thank Happy for all of this.

“I love it”, she murmured, trying to control her voice, although she did sniffle quietly. Whether it was the hormones or the sweet surprise; she had no idea. “And I love you. Thanks for taking care of this. Nobody could have done it better.”

“I love you too, little girl”, Happy grumbled as he pulled his arms tightly around her and pressed a kiss on top of her head. He hadn't expected that she would react so emotionally. But that showed how much she liked the room. “You know I would do anything for Annie and you. I was happy to take care of this.”

“Oh, you guys are making me cry!” Gemma quickly wiped some tears from her eyes, too moved by the sight.

Two years ago she would never have expected to ever see her daughter again, and now here she was; pregnant, an Old Lady and lived only ten minutes away. For the Queen it was a gift to be able to be part of this.

“I’m sorry, mom.” Madison laughed away her tears, pulled away from Happy and lifted her chin to kiss him, which she did deeply and passionately, her hands resting against his cheeks. “I know that, and I can’t thank you enough for that.”

“You already give me enough, you don't have to thank me for anything, woman”, he rasped against her lips, which he confiscated again and let his hands slide over her sides.

“Hey, not in the baby’s room”, Jax said in a teasing tone.

“Shut up”, Tara chuckled, gently hitting the back of her hand against his stomach before leaning against him.

Laughing, he shook his head after pulling Tara in front of him and loosely wrapping his arms around her shoulders from behind. His gaze wandered to Abel, then to Thommy and then to his sister and Happy.

Even though he knew that Jesse would probably always be Madison's favorite brother, or at least the one with whom she was closest, he knew that he and Madison had become quite close too and he hoped that it would stay that way.

Two months later

“Welcome home, Annie.” Happy watched as Madison cooed at their daughter, who lay peacefully in his Old Lady's arms, the glint in her eyes saying more than thousand words. And he couldn't be happier either. Tired but happy.

The last three days were exhausting, the nights were long and the lack of sleep was clearly visible on both of their tired facesᅳ and yet he couldn't be feeling better. He's probably never been as proud as he was right now and becoming a father has really changed something in him.

His priorities had changed and Madison and Annie came first, those two came before everything else. Well, and his mother. Then came the club that he would still die for. Only from now on he would be much more careful and take more care of himself.

“I think she’s hungry.” Amused, he looked down at his daughter, who was sucking on her fist as if her life depended on it.

“We just fed her half an hour ago. This can't be.” Madison shook her head as she laughed softly and ran the side of her index finger over Annie's soft, tiny cheek. “But yeah, I think she’s hungry.”

“Sit down with her, I’ll take care of the bottle.” He gently pushed his Old Lady into the living room and ordered her to sit down and do nothing before he disappeared into the kitchen.

Preparing the bottle took time, simply because he still had to get used to it, and in the hospital it was usually done by Gemma or Izzy, who came by to visit every day. But right now he wanted to support Madison as best he could until she was fully fit again. Even though the birth had gone smoothly, Madison was still exhausted.

“Here.” With the slightest smile, he held out the bottle to her after plopping down on the couch next to her, making himself comfortable. His arm rested behind his head, the other arm wrapped around Madison, who leaned against him without hesitation.

“Thank you, babe.” After placing Annie correctly so that she and her daughter were comfortable, she began to feed the little one. And sure enough, Happy was right in his guess. The newborn suckled on the bottle as if there was no tomorrow.

“Maybe we should buy more milk powder, so she doesn't starve”, he commented thoughtfully before releasing his arm from behind his head and running his large hand over Annie's head, gently rubbing her dark hair with his thumb. “She’s so tiny.”

“She already has you wrapped around her finger”, the brunette stated with a smile as she observed how careful and loving Happy with their daughter.

She could still remember how much pride there was in his entire body language when he got to hold Annie in his arms for the first time. The whole day the contented smile never left his face, which was marked by tiredness.

“She has”, Happy admitted with a grin and without argument. “But you too. She probably just has the talent to wrap everyone around her finger.”

“The power of a baby”, Madison chuckled happily as she watched her daughter drink, making cute noises as she did so.

“You couldn't have given me anything better”, Happy said after a moment of silence, his smile replaced by a thoughtful look. “I never thought I would have a family one dayᅳ and now I can’t imagine my life without you two.”

“Aww, she's making you all soft”, Madison teased, but then she became serious and turned around a little more so she could get a better look at him. “I feel the same way. I never thought I would become a mother, I could never imagine it either. And now, after giving birth to her, I can already imagine having a second one with you”, beamed the brunette.

“Okay, take it slow.” Happy let out a bark of a laugh and let his fingertips dance over her upper arm. “But I can also imagine having more kids with you.”

One of her eyebrows rose in surprise. “Really?”

“Yeah, really”, he nodded, leaning down a little so he could  place a kiss on Annie’s forehead before he leaned back again and kissed Madison. And again, he couldn't take his eyes off her. And no matter how tired she looked, she was the prettiest woman in his eyes. “But first let’s enjoy our time with this little crumb.”

“We will”, she whispered, smiling against his lips, which were still close to hers. “I couldn’t be happier right now.”

“Me neither, little girl”, Happy, replied, his gravelly voice still gave her goosebumps after almost two years with him.

With Happy she had definitely found the right man at her side and was finally able to completely put her past behind her. Jesse and her father, who was also planning to move to Charming, were now the only things from her past that she had taken with her and would never want to get rid of. Nothing else mattered anymore as long as she had her little family.
