24. The Reveal of The Century.

______

In the average person's life, how many times is it normal to be kidnapped? Most would say never, some maybe once, but for Emersyn, well, she couldn't even remember how many times.

It was quite tiring; the whole snatch-torture-possible death-then rescue-repeat.

And as much as Emersyn liked being who she was, as much as she loved her family and all of which she had, the darker aspects of her life made her question if it was all worth it.

The bag that was over her head was itchy and scratched at her skin with every movement she made. It had been an hour until the car stopped and she felt herself being picked up and carried out of the back until her feet hit the ground.

Behind her, a man stood with his hands on her back as he led her somewhere. Walking until she felt her feet hit a block, she was stopped and forced to sit.

"I would have sat on my own. You didn't have to shove me," Emersyn told him, annoyed by the manhandling.

In only a matter of seconds, the bag that was over her head was pulled off, revealing the face of her kidnapper to her.

The Stark sighed, "Really? I would have come willingly, you ass."

Steve Rogers grinned as he looked down at her, "I missed you too, Syn."

She rolled her eyes, "Yeah, I really felt it when you shoved me in a van."

"It was Bucky's idea," Steve admitted.

"Of course it was."

"He does like the dramatic flareโ€“"

"Why did you kidnap me, Steve?" Emersyn asked, cutting him off.

"I need your helpโ€“"

"If this is about the accords you know I will always take my dads side. No matter what."

"I know. It's Bucky... Tony doesn't know that the Winter Soldier killed Howard and Maria."

Her eyes widened. "I thought he knew," she spoke, her voice harsh.ย

Steve rubbed the back of his neck, "I might have told you that just because I thought it would make you not talk to him about it."

"Are you fucking kidding me, Steveโ€“?"

"Language," he cut her off, but she wasn't done.ย

"No, Steve. I'm serious. Why weren't the two of you just honest with both me and my Dad? It would have made this situation so much easierโ€“"

"We knew that if your father knew, it would be the end of the Avengers. We would split andโ€“"

"No. I would have talked to my father. Bucky did not kill my grandparents. Hydra did. Those are two separate beings. I'm sure my father would understand."

"It doesn't matter now, Emersyn. Now, we are split. The Avengers are done. I just need you to keep us alive."

Emersyn gave him a confused look, "What do you mean?"

"I need to get Bucky out of the country... I just don't think it will be so easy with your father and shield being able to track my every movement."

"So you want me to aid in you becoming a fugitive, in turn making me a war criminal? Why don't you just talk to people, Steve?"

The blonde man sighed, "Will you help me or not, Syn?"

She looked up at him with hard eyes, "I will help Bucky. Not you. If you get caught, that's your own fault."

He nodded. "Thank you, Syn."

She stood up and began to walk back to the car, "Don't call me that."

Emersyn sat next to Bucky in the back seat of what she felt was a clown car. In the passenger seat, Sam sat as they waited for Steve to get their gear from Sharon.

"Can you move your seat up?" Bucky asked suddenly, adjusting in his seat, causing Emersyn to slap his leg when it moved into her personal space.

"No," Sam replied, keeping his eyes on Steve and Sharon.

Emersyn grinned, amused by the two men as she moved her legs so they were resting on the center console. "How I missed this," she muttered as she leant her head back and closed her eyes only to feel Sam push at her feet.

"Get your feet out of my face, Stark."

"No. If I'm stopping you from getting arrested, you have to deal with my feet in your face."

Sam rolled his eyes, "You're so annoying."

She crossed her arms as she looked at him, "I didn't ask to be here. I was completely content with my kidnapper."

"Yes, because you have a very prominent case of Stockholm syndrome."

"Fuck youโ€“" she was cut off when she felt Bucky move closer to her. "Stay on your side," she told him when she felt herself being pushed further into the car door.

"Shut up," he told her.

"No. You shut up."

Emersyn's eyes moved back to Steve only to see him kissing Sharon. Her lips pursed and she quickly looked away. Subconsciously, she took in a heavy breath. She hadn't realized he had moved on so fast.

A hand on her leg took her out of her thoughts and made her look back at Bucky, "What?" she asked.

His thumb rubbed small circles on her thigh, "Nothin'."

Her phone suddenly rang, causing her to jump slightly. Frowning, she pulled the device out of her pocket and read the caller ID.

"Who is it?" Bucky asked.

"Private number. It's probably my dad," she replied, her thumb hovering over the decline button.

"Answer it," he told her. "Might as well. It's not like we're going anywhere soon with the two catholic rabbits."

Emersyn laughed softly, but nodded nonetheless as she got out of the car and walked away until she was out of ear shot before answering the call.

"Dad, I'm fine. You don't have to call me every five minutes."

"Oh, I'm sorry, love. I didn't realize you had a daddy kink. Perhaps if I had known that, you would have stayed and not run off."

Emersyn groaned in annoyance, "Seriously, Klaus?"

"Yes. Seriously. Did you seriously think you could just get away?"

"It wasn't by choice, you dick. I was shoved in a van."

"And now you are where exactly? Because you sound fine."

She scoffed, "Like I would tell you."

"You will..." he paused for a moment, "Are you okay?"

"Other than the fact that I had to witness my ex boyfriend have at it with his new girlfriend, I am completely fine."

Klaus frowned, "The blonde man?"

"Yeah, the one that looks like a Dorito."

"What are you doing with him? I thought you never wanted to see him again."

"He was the one that shoved me in a van," Emersyn explained to him.

He hummed, "I can see why you broke up with him. Seems very toxic. Shall I rescue you, my love?"

Emersyn rolled her eyes, "I'm not telling you where I am, Klaus."

"Worth a try."

She glanced back and saw Steve packing his shield and Sam's wings into the trunk of the small car while Sharon had disappeared.

"I should go. They're waiting for me."

"I'm serious, love. Just tell me where you are and I'll come get you. No kidnapping. I'll even buy you food before I drop you off wherever you want."

It was a tempting offer. Emersyn almost said yes but before she could, she heard Bucky calling her name.

Sighing, she shook her head, "Goodbye, Klaus," she said softly before hanging up the phone before he could respond.

When Steve finally parked the small car at an airport in Germany, Emersyn crawled over Sam's body to get out first.

"Jesus, Stark," the man groaned in pain when she kneed him in the balls.

"You were too slow," Emersyn told him as she stretched her legs and back.

Glancing over when she heard her name, she saw Wanda and Clint get out of a van. Her eyes widened as she walked over to the man and pulled him into a hug. Clint grinned as he picked her up off the ground and spun her around before setting her back down.

"How are you doing, Baby Stark?"

"Well, I've gone from one kidnapper to the next so..." she trailed off, shrugging.

Clint laughed as he patted her shoulder, "Always something new with you."

As Clint moved to talk to Steve, Emersyn walked over to Wanda. "Hey, Wands," she greeted, her smile slightly smaller but still bright. She was still somewhat nervous around the Maximoff.

Wanda looked at her and smiled, "Miss. Stark. How are you? I heard you were kidnapped."

Emersyn bumped her shoulder, "Stop being so formal with me. I'm not good with that shit."

The girl laughed, "Right. It's too sophisticated for you."

"Exactly. And to answer your question, at least this time my kidnapper was hot."

"Steve?"

Her eyes widened as a disgusted look took over her face, "Not a chance. The one before him. He was cute."

Wanda grinned as she let out a soft laugh, "Only you would find your kidnapper attractive."

"You try getting kidnapped by a vampire. It's harder than it looks."

"A vampire? God, you just keep getting more interesting," Wanda told her, only for Steve to look over at the pair.

"Thanks for having my back," he said, looking at Wanda before his eyes turned to Emersyn, "You too, Syโ€“... Emersyn."

The Stark nodded at him and she moved away, "I'll be in the control tower keeping watch. I'll make sure you get away safely, Bucky. And I'll do my best to make sure your prison sentences after this inevitably doesn't work out aren't too long."

"Always keeping it positive," Clint spoke, grinning at her.

"Just keeping it real," Emersyn replied as she left the group.

As the Stark began to walk out of the parking lot and into the airport she was stopped by someone landing behind her. She sighed deeply as she turned around, "Heyyyy, Dad..." she greeted awkwardly, knowing she was specifically not allowed to be there.

"Emersyn," Tony greeted, his voice hard as the metal mask that covered his head flipped up revealing the annoyed look on his face. "What are you doing here? You said you couldn't get away and now you are here? Exactly where I told you not to be!"

She let out an awkward laugh, "Well, you see, it's actually a funny story..."

"Yes, I'm sure. You can tell me all about it later after Cap gets his panties untwisted. My car is at the far end of the airport. Happy's in there. Go find him."

"But Dadโ€“"

"No, Emersyn. I've already let you get hurt enough times."

"I'm an adult, Dad. I can make my own decisโ€“"

"Not when they get you hurt. Get in the car and wait for me."

She grumbled, "Fine."

Disappearing from her fathers eyeline, she waited until he flew away before making a beeline to the control tower.

She breathed out softly as she looked out the window, "Sorry, Dad."

When the elevator reached the control tower, Emersyn stepped out before taking a glance outside of the surrounding windows. Looking down at the runway next to the hanger where Steve and Bucky were trying to get to, she saw her father along with Natasha, Rhodey and a guy that looked like a cat...

Emersyn wasn't sure where her father had found him. Possibly from a high school. She remembered one of her past friends telling her about furies. He must have been one.

Across from them, she saw Steve, Bucky and Wanda along with the rest of his team walking toward them.

The younger Stark sighed as the fight soon began. Punches and kicks were thrown, small blood splatters appeared on the tarmac.

"Do I have an opening?" Bucky asked after a moment when Scott, or Tic-Tac as Emersyn knew him, expanded into some sort of giant.

Emersyn's eyes scaled up the large man in shock, "Yeah, I'd say so."

"Told you we'd be fine," Bucky replied as he began to run toward the hanger where a quinjet was waiting for him.

"Tell me that when you get out of the country, dumbass." Emersyn's eyes moved back down and saw her father's new recruit on the ground after taking down Scott. His mask had lifted, revealing half of his face.

He was just a kid.

An uneasy feeling settled in her stomach as she watched Steve's fist pound against her fathers metal mask, blood forming on the super solders hand as a dent appeared in Tony's suit.

"Hurry up, Bucky. You don't have long now," Emersyn spoke as she grabbed a gun out of the duffle bag she had brought before loading it. Pulling a laser out of her pocket, she cut a hole out of the glass window and set the shard of glass beside her.

Holding her gun, the butt of it pressed tightly against her shoulder, she looked through the scope and searched for her target.

Tony's mask was broken, the metal cracked, now on the ground revealing the entirety of his head. He was at Steve's mercy.

Letting out a soft breath, she moved the gun over slightly before she pressed the trigger. As she watched the bullet hit Steve in his thigh, effectively knocking him away from her father, giving him time to get away, she sighed as his eyes met hers.

"What are you doing?" Steve's voice came out, his tone full of anger.

Emersyn reloaded the gun as she moved out of the room and down to the tarmac. Walking toward the super soldier, she kept hold of the gun.

"I said I'd help Bucky get away. Not that I'd help you kill my family."

Steve clutched his bleeding thigh as he stood up, "I am your family, Emersyn."

"Not anymore."

In only a second, Emersyn's gun was pulled from her hands and thrown across the runway.

"Don't make me fight you," Steve told her.

"I don't want to fight, Steve. I just want peace."

Steve looked down at his leg, "Clearly you and I don't have the same definition of peace."

She watched as his eyes glanced back, trying to look for Tony. When he spotted him, he turned only for Emersyn to tackle him.

Grabbing him by his neck, she pulled him down with her body weight until he hit the ground.

They both quickly recovered, Steve's fist moving to hit her, only for her to block it with her forearm. Grabbing his wrist, she pulled him closer as she elbowed him in his throat before sending punches to his stomach.

As she punched his stomach, Steve took her distraction to yank her wrist and swiftly kick behind her knees.

"It doesn't have to be this way," Emersyn coughed as the back of her head smacked against the tarmac, a halo of blood appearing around her head.

Steve kneeled on top of her, his legs on either side of her waist, trapping her. "I don't want to hurt you."

She squirmed, trying to get out from under him but he held her tight. "Let me go and we'll talk this through. I can talk to my dad. I'll pay off Rossโ€“"

"It's too late," Steve told her, glancing up and seeing Bucky almost at the hanger. "It'll be better this way. You'll never see me again."

"Who said I wanted that?" Emersyn asked angrily as she grabbed his shoulders and used all the strength she had to push him away so that she could stand once more.

Before Steve could answer, Rhodey flew down between them and began throwing punches at the super soldier.

Emersyn's eyes widened when the man got distracted by Vision and Steve got the upper hand once more. With Rhodey helpless on the ground, Steve about to knock him out, Emersyn leaped forward and took the hit for the man.

The Stark groaned when Steve's hard fist smacked against the cheek, the next hitting her lip before they were quickly retracted when he realized who he was hitting.

Steve moved back quickly, "Iโ€“"

Rhodey stood, now more aware, as he held up his fist. "Get the fuck out of here, Rogers," he spoke angrily as he sent a blast at the man's chest, knocking him far away before moving down to Emersyn.

His metal hand moved to gently hold her cheek, earning a wince from her. "Why'd you do that, kid?"

Emersyn groaned, "Don't make me say it."

Rhodey chuckled, "Alright. Can you stand?"

She could taste blood as it leaked from her lip and into her mouth. The metallic taste made her shiver. "Yeah, I can stand. I'm not old and crippled like you," she muttered as she stood by herself, ignoring the woozy feeling she felt in her head.

She turned her head slowly and saw a building being knocked over only to be held up by Wanda's magic as Steve ran underneath it.

"He's getting away," Emersyn spoke.

"Not if I have anything to do with it," Rhodey told her, and before she could say anything, he flew off.

The Stark sighed, knowing there was nothing she could do now. Glancing behind her when she heard a groan, she noticed her fathers new accomplice still on the ground.

Frowning, she walked over to him before gently nudging him with her boot. "You still alive down there?"

The kid's eyes opened quickly as he tried to move away.

Emersyn moved to sit beside him as she placed her hand on his shoulder, "Hey, it's okay. It's over. I'm not gonna hurt you."

The boy calmed slightly, "Oh... Okay. Why's your face doing that?"

"Doing what?"

"Glitching? It's like it's switching between multiple people."

She sighed, "Shit. That asshole broke it." Through her muttered swears, she yanked the nanomask off of her face and tossed it to the ground, "Piece of shit."

His eyes widened, "Holy cow. You're Emersyn Stark."

She shrugged, "Yeah. Come on, let's get up. I don't think we should stay out hereโ€“"

She cut herself off when she heard an explosion and saw Rhodey fall to the ground with her father flying down after him while the quinjet disappeared from the sky.

"We gotta get out of here. Cops are gonna start coming any minute."

He nodded and stood up before holding out his hand to her. Emersyn smiled slightly as she took his hand and let him help her stand. Both of them limped toward the airport silently until he spoke again, "I'm Peter, by the way. Peter Parker... I thought you should know that. I mean, I know you're name... Maybe that was stupidโ€“"

She grinned, "It's nice to meet you, Peter Parker."

Emersyn looked behind her when she heard a ruckus and sighed, "Shit. They got here sooner than I thought they would. Come on. If you go through the south hallway, there's an exit at the end. That's where Happy is. Go to him and tell him to get the hell out of here."

"But youโ€“"

"Go, Peter. Don't worry about me. I'll be fine."

The teen stared at her for a moment before nodding and running off.

Turning around, she felt handcuffs being placed on her wrists. Glancing behind her, she saw Ross with a grin on his stupid face.

"Never thought I'd see you again, Miss Stark."

Emersyn rolled her eyes.

"Too bad Rogers messed up your pretty face. Guess the world will have to deal with the bruises."

She held back a look of shock as she noticed the news run out onto the tarmac, their cameras in hand as they filmed her and Ross.

Their voices chorused together as they screamed her name along with the rest of the Avengers who were being locked in handcuffs.

As they loaded Wanda, Clint, Sam, Scott, Emersyn was pushed in behind them, only to be held back.

Ross grinned as he forced her to turn around, revealing her face to the cameras once again. Using his free hand, he pushed the hair out of her face, "Emersyn Stark, everyone."

She grunted, and smacked her head against his before kicking out his legs. Before she could run off through, she felt a searing pain pierce through her shoulder.

Glancing down, she saw blood begin to stain her shirt as guards rallied around her.

"It's either us or death, Miss Stark," Ross spoke as he walked toward her.

She coughed out blood, "I'd rather die than go with you."

He grabbed her by her arms and pulled her so that she was laying over his shoulder, "Wrong choice."

Through Emersyn's fading vision, she saw Kol and Elijah staring at her as they watched Ross lock her into a cell in a van with the rest of the team. She leant her head back in pain, ignoring the two Mikaelsons.

As the truck started, Emersyn was lulled to sleep with the sounds of the engine.

The next time Emersyn woke up, she woke up due to the feeling of hands against her. Groaning, she opened her eyes only to realize she couldn't move.

She whimpered as she tried to move only to feel hands hold her still. Through her blurred vision, she saw a man above her, his eyes meeting hers.

"Emersyn, calm down! Calm down!" the man said loudly as he held her down.

His voice was familiar. Her vision slowly cleared and it was only when she saw his face clearly that she calmed.

"What's going on?" she asked as she began to feel tired once more.

"You got shot, kid. You're bleeding out," Clint explained from above her. "You're lucky I convinced them to keep you with me otherwise you'd already be dead."

She groaned when she felt his hand press against her wound.

"Why are you helping me? I betrayed youโ€“"

"You betrayed Steve. But he betrayed you first. Besides, I could never hold a grudge against you. I practically helped raise you."

"Just let me die, Clint. Chances are I'll just come back."

"Just because you did it once, doesn't mean I'm letting it happen again."

She felt blood begin to clog her throat and she turned her head to the side as she coughed it out. Groaning in pain, she met his eyes, "I'm not making it out of here. Not like this. As good as you are, you can't keep me from bleeding out."

Her eyes closed as she saw Kol once again only for him to disappear when she opened them.

"As pissed as I am at your dad, I'm not letting his baby die," Clint argued as he ripped a piece of her shirt off from the bottom hem and tied it around her shoulder.

She closed her eyes again.

Kol was knelt beside her, "If you die I'll force you to tell me all the drama, darling. You'd get so sick of it."

She smiled tiredly, "Be honest with yourself, Kol. You love having me around."

She winced when she felt Clint tighten the fabric tourniquet around her.

"I do. But I much rather watch you annoy my brother half to death."

Emersyn felt his hand hold the back of her head, "You're a Stark, Emersyn. You've lived through so much bullshiit. You're not gonna die from some stupid bullet wound."

"I'll come back."

"Are you sure? How do you know if that was a one time thing or not?"

A tear slipped from her eye. Kol wasn't sure if it was from sadness or pain. Nonetheless, his thumb wiped it away, "You can't die, Emersyn. You're supposed to marry my brother so that we can annoy him for eternity."

"I'd never marry that bastard. He'd annoy me far too much..." She felt blood fill her mouth. Her eyes turned to Clint's, "Stop. It's not working."

A loud bang suddenly sounded before shouts could be heard. A loud voice was yelling at the guards until the door to Clint's cell was opened.

"How long has it been?" the voice asked as she felt arms wrap around her body.

"She's been in and out of consciousness for the last three hours. Bleeding since the airport," Clint informed the man. "I tried to stop it but he hit her in a tough spot. Not an artery, just close to one."

The other man nodded as he turned his head to the guards, "I need a gurney!"

As he turned his head back, he looked down at Emersyn, letting her see his face.

She formed a dazed smile on her lips as she looked up at him, "Hey, Dad."

Tony rolled his eyes as he picked her up off the ground and set her on the gurney, "Don't play innocent now, kid." He turned to the guards, "Take her to the doctors. Get a blood transfusion ready."

He turned around and looked at the cells, "And get Maximoff out of the vest. She doesn't need that. Put her in with Barton."

"Yes, sir," the guard replied before Tony ran off after Emersyn.
