Chapter 3) Loto Tries Panikeke
Upon waking up, I went into the kitchen and prepared some panikeke, bacon, and eggs for Ashley, Loto, and I for the morning. It felt incredible to finally be back inside of the ring for the first time in over a year and I was more than determined to come back for the Universal Championship.
I stood there with my hair tied back into a low bun and continued to prepare my family and I some breakfast for the day.
Ashley walked into the kitchen looking as gorgeous as ever in her beautiful cream nightwear. I greeted her with a peck on the lips and wrapped my arms around her, gazing down upon her beautiful emerald eyes.
"Hey beautiful. I'm making the breakfast this time."
"In all honesty, I'm shocked that you haven't burned down the house yet." She teased.
I cocked an eyebrow with a smile, "You think I'm going to burn down the house, huh? That's funny babe. I'm a pretty good cook, remember? I'm the one who got you into Panikeke back then." I laughed.
"I know. I love messing around with you." Ashley replied, "What's for breakfast?"
"Panikeke, bacon, and eggs."
"Sounds delicious!"
The room grew silent for a minute until I broke the silence between us.
"Ashley, I just realized something."
"What is it?"
"Our son hasn't tried Panikeke before."
"Really? I could have sworn that you made him some before you returned to the ring."
I shook my head, "I haven't. I was worried about him choking, given that he's one-year-old already. Since he's able to chew his own food now and his teeth are coming in, I was thinking on him trying some for the first time in his life."
"That sounds fine with me." She shrugged, "Maybe he'll enjoy it."
We waited for our son to finally awaken from his slumber half an hour later in his crib and brought him down into the kitchen for the surprise.
"Hey, Champ." I grinned. "Your mother and I want you to try out this Samoan dish called Panikeke."
We sat him down in his high-chair and laid a small plate with a piece of the Samoan pancake in front of him.
Loto picked up the pancake and took his first ever bite in front of Ashley and I. His face began to light up after swallowing his first bite with ease.
"How was it?" I asked him.
Loto then wanted some more Panikeke and it brought the biggest smile to my face. However, nobody can resist the delicious taste of a Samoan pancake, after all.
Throughout the day, Ashley and I relaxed on the couch while we watched Loto playing with his small WWE and Marvel action figures on the ground. Shortly after, we heard a couple of knocks on the door and it was my cousins, Jimmy and Jey.
"What's up, Uce?" Jimmy asked.
"Just relaxing with Ashley and watching our son have fun with his new action figures. What brings you two over here lately?"
"Well Uce, it turns out that we're getting a storyline together!" Jey said with excitement.
"A storyline?" I smiled. "What's the creative got this time?"
"Well, they haven't said anything to the both of us yet; but since Jimmy is still out with his injury, they're putting me into some solo storyline that involves you. That's all I know so far, Uce."
"Interesting. I wonder what they're planning with us."
"Anyways, do you guys mind if we chill in your house for awhile?" Jimmy asked.
"Not at all! Make yourselves at home." Ashley said.
Jimmy and Jey sat down on the other couch in front of us and watched Loto playing with his toys on the floor and having the time of his life.
"Aw, look at him Uce. He's grown up so much!" Jey cooed.
"He's over a year old already. Our son's growing up so fast and I can see him taking after his dad. I mean, he does have Roman's eyes and his same, colored hair." Ashley added.
"Now that you think about it, I actually see the resemblance between them." Jimmy looked closely at Loto and then back at me.
"You do?" I said, cocking an eyebrow in confusion.
"Yeah Uce." He replied, "Look closely at his face!"
Ashley was right. We leaned forward to noticing how he had my eyes, eyebrows, and the same jet black hair as I did.
"Wow, I never thought about that until you guys mentioned it."
"Well Uce, he's going to grow up and look like his daddy in a few years from now. I can see the resemblance between you and Loto."
"Come to think about it, he does look a lot like me." I smiled.
Loto reached out his arms and I didn't hesitate but to hold him in my embrace while conversing with my cousins and Ashley for the next couple of hours. We talked for hours on end about this mystery storyline, and thinking on what the WWE Creative had in store between Jey and I in the future. Although I was currently on a run to win back my Universal Championship, I was curious about what was being planned for SmackDown.
When it came to my return, nobody seen it coming. I remembered being the same Roman Reigns that wasn't liked much by the fans. I was booed out if the building many times, struggled with my career from time-to-time; especially when the authority had power over the business.
At first, I was concerned with the way my career was looking before Shane McMahon took over. Although the authority was no longer in power, I still felt like something was missing in my career. I needed a huge change to my character in the ring and that was to become a dominant heel in the business and not taking anyone's shit.
While I continued to hold my son in my arms while talking with my cousins. I was deep into thought about the reason as to why I wanted to change my character and had a small flashback.
After the authority was all arrested and taken to prison, I was focusing on my WWE World Heavyweight Championship; defending it against many of the other talents in the back.
One night, I was attending a non-televised event and I had to defend my championship against Sheamus. He was more than determined to take the championship off my shoulder, but he failed.
After my match, I was walking up the ramp to see my wife; with whom was a few months pregnant at the time, and someone went out of their way and threw a drink on me as it covered the back of my vest and the ends of my hair. At the time, people absolutely hated me being a face in the business. Frustrated, I shrugged it off and headed backstage.
"Are you okay, babe?" Ashley asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine."
"I saw what they did to you. That was uncalled for!"
I nodded, "Yeah, it was."
"Do you want me to step out and say something?"
"I'm good. I don't want them out here harassing you or else I'd be sent to prison again. And given that you're pregnant, I don't want you getting into any confrontations with anyone."
She nods, "I understand. I just don't know why people are treating you like that."
We both walked into my locker-room and sat down on the couch.
"I do. It's because I've been playing the hero for all these years and always having the mindset of 'One Versus All' and whatnot." My voice deepened, "I need to make a change in this business, Ashley."
"A change? What do you mean?"
"I mean, the authority is long gone and Shane is taking over the business now; that means maybe...just maybe, I can become a heel and finally make this character that I have going on, one of the best that WWE has ever seen."
"How do you plan to do that? I know you can talk with Shane, but do you think everything will work out?"
"Well, maybe at WrestleMania or SummerSlam, I can possibly make that move. It all depends on the timing and whenever things seem fitting."
"I support you and I know you'd make an incredible heel character."
"Thanks, babe." I looked over at her with a warm smile that spread across my face, "I couldn't ask for a better wife."
And just like that, the pandemic came and caused me to halt on my return to the company; whereas my heel turn, too. During the time period, I focused and came up with a way to make the crowd excited to see me again; although the crowd would be watching from home and many would be on the Thunderdome screen watching, I felt like it was better than nothing to begin my newfound journey.
Then suddenly, my cousins broke me out of my trance.
"Hey Uce. You good?"
"Yeah, yeah. I'm good."
"What's going on inside your mind, man?" You seem deep into thought about something." Jimmy asked.
"As a matter of fact, there is. It's just about how I'm going to make this new heel turn perfect for me and my character in the business, you know?" I looked at them, "And I was thinking of that incident that happened with a WWE Fan who threw a drink on me back when Ashley was pregnant with our son. I was reminiscing on the moment where I told her I wanted to change up my character."
"Well Uce, I can see you doing great things as a heel. Shit, I'd love to see you fucking people up in the ring and cussing them out!" Jey said.
"You're right. I think the people will start appreciating me for awhile longer before I decide to head off to Hollywood. I'd love to make some movies in the future with Dwayne and Cena someday."
"Whatever you want to do, Uce, we all support you."
"Thanks, guys."
And just like that, I started thinking of how this was going to play out. My cousin, Jey, being my first feud as a heel seemed intriguing; and the fans would love that. But first, I had to focus on winning back my Universal Championship from The Fiend and Braun Strowman.
