Fuck you, Jax.

chapter four.

JAX STARES ACROSS AT HIS two friends, his jaw still clenched and his chest pumping up and down with a mix of anxiety and anger, completely chased by the woman waiting outside for him. He runs a hand over his face before sighing.

"What the hell is she doing here?" He hisses across at the two men harshly.

Chibs shrugs, holding his arms up in a surrender, "We have no clue, Jackie boy. She just showed up with Cami," He swallows thickly, trying to correctly articulate his next sentence, "You should go out there and speak to her, find out why she's back."

Jax scoffs, beginning to pace back and forth from the Club bar to the far wall as he shakes his head, "I ain't speaking to her."

"Oh, come on," Tig sighs, watching the young boy drive himself mad, "It's Scarlett, she's hardly a stranger."

Jax come to a quick stop, turning to glare at the man who spoke last with flares nostrils, "It's been eight years, Tig. She is a stranger now. I don't give a fuck who she is now, she's still the girl who left us all."

Chibs steps slightly closer to him, "Like ya said, that was eight years ago, lad. That's nearly a decade. She wants to talk Jax, nothing bad. Now, you go out there and talk to her and stop having this childish tantrum over Scarlett Miller."

Groaning, Jax drops his chin to his chest, "First Tara, now Scarlett. What the hell am I supposed to do?"

As his face screws up in confusion at the comparison between the two women, Chibs says sternly, "You're gonna go out there and talk to her, like a big boy."

The door swings open, and Scarlett steps through, her head tilted and arms crossed tightly over her chest as she stops and stares across the room at the blonde man, ignoring the wondering eyes from the chicks spread across the sofas.

"Can I speak to you, please?" She asks, raising her brows in questioning, "Without you storming off to have a tantrum."

Jax looks across at her, rolling his tongue over his teeth in frustration before nodding his head down the hall towards the rooms, "You have two minutes."

She laughs, following after him as he begins to walk away, "I have however long it takes for you actually listen to me."

As he leads her through the hallway and into his room, he bites back a comment. He steps to the side, allowing her to trudge in before he closes the door behind them both. Scarlett taps her finger on her bicep, turning on her heels to look around the familiar room. She grimaces at the several images of near naked chicks stuck to his walls before turning to meet his gaze.

"Start talking," He nods at her, leaning back against the door and shoving his hands into his cargo pockets.

Scarlett takes a deep breath, swallowing her already growing frustration, "Jax, I get that you don't like me at all. That's fine, it's a mutual feeling, but I just wanted to come tell you that I'm back in town for a while. I didn't need you hearing it from someone else. I don't want us to be complete enemies."

Jax listens to her words, before muttering, "Why are you back in town?"

"Jamie is doing time," She bites her lip, watching as his hard expression drops slightly, "Only a year," She clarifies, "I just wanted to come see Cami, 'cause the city is lonely as fuck."

"You gonna tell me why you left or not?" His jaw clenches, causing her to squeeze her eyes shut as she lets out a long breath. He was clearly waiting to ask that question.

Opening her eyes, she shakes her head gently, "I can't tell you that, Jax. That's my business."

His face screws up in confusion, and he pushes away from the door as his voice raises slightly, "I think I deserve to know why you fucking left without a single warning. Don't you agree?"

Scarlett straightens up as he walks closer, "No, I don't agree. It's been eight years, Jackson. Get the fuck over yourself. You've survived this long without knowing, you can survive the rest of your life," Now, she moves a step closer to him, "I don't know what your mother brainwashed into that mind of yours, but me leaving this hellhole had nothing to do with you. You were one of the only things making it hard to leave."

He looks down at her, head tilted daringly, "Then why did you, huh? Just tell me the reason. I could've helped you through anything. I could've helped you stay."

She scoffs, "No, you really couldn't have. We were twenty one, Jax."

"Was it one of those dudes you were fucking, hm?" He presses the situation further, practically ignoring her previous statement. At this point, his mind is so muddled that he's speaking without thinking, "Or was it all of them? Were you that much of whore that you had to move to the city to escape them all," He laughs in her face, "Shit, is that actually why you're back now? Because of  the dudes in the city."

Her eyebrows raise at his words and her jaw sets before she sends a rough shove into his chest, sending him tumbling back against his room door with a grunt. His head snaps to her in alarm, "What the hell?"

"Yeah," She nods, her furious eyes burning into his, "What the hell? Why the fuck are you calling me a whore? Are you seriously that pissed that I'm not back for you? That you don't mean shit to me anymore?" She walks over to him, pushing him away from the door slightly so she's able to pull it open, "Fuck you, Jax. What happened to you?" She snarls before stepping out into the hallway and slammed the door shut behind her, the bang echoing around the Club.

Chibs appears at the end of the hall, watching as she storms towards him, her chest pumping up and down with anger. He doesn't even have a chance to ask questions before she's charging outside to find Camille. He glances over at Tig, both of foreheads crinkling in confusion.

"We're leaving now," Scarlett mutters as she walks past Camille, grabbing her best friends sleeve and pulling her after her as they make their way to the Club gates, "I just wanted to announce my return so he wouldn't get all babyish. That was all," She rambles as they move, "But no, he has to go and call me a whore. I mean, Jesus christ."

Camille's eyebrows shoot up as she rushes along side her friend, "A whore?"

Back inside Jax's room in the Club, Chibs stares at the younger man in astonishment, "A whore? You called her a bloody whore?"

Tig groans, running his hands over his face as he speaks, "Have you forgotten about Scarlett's temper?"

Chibs hums, "Or do ya need reminding?"

Sitting on the end of his bed, Jax rolls his eyes, waving them away and not even bothering to say a single word as he waits for them to leave him in peace. Once he hears the door shut behind them both, he runs a hand over his clenched jaw while his other hand fiddles with his two Son rings furiously.

In the middle of the St Thomas' waiting room, Gemma makes her way over to Tara Knowles. The Teller never particularly liked her sons ex-girlfriend, but she preferred her a significant amount more than his ex-best friend. She also knows that Tara doesn't like Scarlett one bit, and she will use that slice of anger to her advantage.

"Scarlett Miller is back in town," She states simply, crossing her arms over her chest and watching as Tara's professional work expression drops slightly.

"What?" She hisses, stepping closer to the older woman with furrowed brows, "Why?"

Gemma shrugs, "I don't have a clue," She raises a hand to poke at Tara's shoulder, "But you should do something about it."

As her face screws up in confusion, Tara scoffs, "Aren't you usually the one who does that? I mean, a few days ago in the elevator you insulted me. What's stopping you from doing the same to Scarlett?"

Swallowing thickly, Gemma says, "I can't believe I'm about to say this, but if Scarlett Miller is the same person she was before she disappeared, I really don't want to piss her off anymore than I already have," She lowers her head slightly so it's closer to Tara's ear, "All you have to do is scare her, or convince her that you and Jax are serious. That's it."

Rolling her eyes, Tara takes a step back, "Really? You want me to scare her because of Jax? And me and him aren't anything."

Gemma waves her words away carelessly, "But she doesn't know that."

Tara shakes her head, "No. I'm not doing your dirty work for you, Gemma. Talk to her yourself, or just leave her alone. I don't know much about Scarlett, but I doubt she is back in a town she hates just for Jax. You and I both know that's not who she is."

"Well, it's not for her parents," Gemma hisses quietly, "So who else might it be?"

"Camille and Luke?" Tara suggests, "They were close before weren't they?" She turns slightly, looking over her shoulder and saying, "You need to stop thinking that everything a woman does is for your son," She nods at the old lady, before walking away and around the corner into the hallway, heading straight to Abel's room.

"Tara!" Her name is shouted from a few steps behind, and she hears the Chapel door swing closed as she whirls around to face Jax, "How is he?" He questions as he advances towards her, his hands in his pockets.

Tara nods slowly, continuing her journey towards the child's room with him at her side, "Good. Slowly getting better. He should be okay," She bites her lip, keeping her eyes focussed on the door ahead, "You spoken to Scarlett yet? I heard she's back in town?"

Jax's gaze snaps to her and his head tilts, "How do you know about that?"

"Gemma told me," She breaths out, "A few moments ago."

As his brows furrow further and his brain runs over her words. His mother knows. "How does she know?"

Tara shrugs, her hand curling around the handle as she gently pushes, letting him step through first, "I don't know. She didn't bother telling me. She seems quite pissed that she's back but—"

As Jax looks down at his son, he hums, "She's scared of her."
