CHAPTER ONE
"Shanks would tell me stories about pirates and their adventures. So yeah, the sea's been calling!" Luffy spoke to himself as he looked at the moving waves, "Are you talking to me? If so, I'm not listening. Sorry." Miyu apologized to her friend as she sat down. The two were on a small boat, stranded on the ocean in the middle of nowhere. The ocean water had flooded the boat slightly, causing the curly headed boy to use a barrel to scoop out the water, clearly not working. At least he was trying to stop the boat from sinking.
"I'm talking to that bird!" Luffy exclaimed, pointing at the white bird that sat on the boat. The bird wore a tiny hat and had a newspaper tucked into a bag that was around his small body. "Hey bird, wanna join my crew?" Luffy asked the bird, but instead of it answering, it squawked at him before flying away.
Miyu glanced up at the tan boy with a small smile on her face "Looks like the bird didn't want to join." She glanced back down at the orange she had in her pale hands, before tossing it in the sky and slicing it with her shiny katana. She took a small slice of the orange and placed it in her mouth before quickly spitting it out "This thing gone bad." She looked down at the orange with a disgusted face. The orange tasted sour and was mushy from the inside.
Luffy made his way over to the woman before grabbing the orange fruit. He took a bite and nodded his head "Yup, its definitely expired." Luffy put the orange back down onto the boat before walking away to look at the light blue sky. Luffy knew whether food had expired or not since he ate literally everything that was edible.
Miyu felt something wet tickle her ankle and looked down, noticing the water slowly making its way to her legs. "Uh, Luffy, we have a problem." She called out for the boy, who quickly turned his head. "Oh no!" Luffy's eye got wide once he saw how far the water had risen.
He grabbed another barrel that had fish inside, kicking the fish out of it. "What is that going to do?!" She shouted at the boy, quickly standing up before the boat sank.
"I'm going to hide in it!" Luffy replied to the black haired woman. Miyu raised her eyebrow before questioning "What about me?" Miyu didn't want to swim in the ocean for multiple reasons. The first one is that she will drown, yet again they were out of nowhere and there were no islands anywhere. The other reason is that if she were to swim, she would most likely lose her sword, which she couldn't let happen. It was her most prize possession.
Luffy pointed to a wooden crate with his pointer finger "Right there!" Miyu grabbed the crate, opening it up only to see colorful fruits inside. She shook her head before turning over the crate, watching the fruit fall out with a thud. She slowly and carefully made her way inside the crate before closing the lid. Luckily, her sword had protection on it, so she wouldn't accidentally hurt herself with it.
"Luffy!" Miyu shouted from inside the crate, sounding muffled. "Yeah?!" Luffy shouted back at her, although it was barely audible. "What if we end up in different directions?" She asked him with a hint of worry. The ocean was unpredictable, the waves moved in different directions all the time. If they split up, they would both be screwed.
"We won't!" Luffy said, almost confident. After he said that, his barrel hit the side of the crate Miyu was in, meaning both of them were close together. "See? I told you!" Luffy yelled, Miyu sighed loudly "Let me get some beauty sleep." She muttered to herself, hoping that when she wakes up she would be by Luffy.
TIME SKIP
Loud sounds echoed throughout the area, most likely room cannons. "Great." Miyu mumbled quietly to herself. The ocean waves decided to move them to a pirate battle, which wasn't great for Miyu or Luffy. Miyu moved her hand up to her ears, trying to shut the noise out, which obviously didn't work. The cannons were loud.
After hours of cannons getting fired, yelling and screaming, someone carried the barrels inside a pirate ship. "This is quite heavy." A man with a thick accent said, a groan coming from his throat. "Yeah, I know. There's gotta be a lot of food in this crate." Another man said, making Miyu roll her brown eyes. Eventually, the two men put the crate onto the ground before she heard their footsteps walking away.
She kicked the crate open with her foot, "AHH!" A guy screamed loudly from the sudden noise. "Luffy come on!" Miyu banged on the barell that Luffy was inside with her fist. "Okay! Okay!" Luffy replied before he tumbled out. He quickly went over to the screaming boy before putting his hand over the boy's mouth, stopping him from screaming and silencing him.
"Hey, I'm not gonna kill you, alright? I just need you to be quiet." The male with thick glasses nodded his head slowly, understanding. He was pale, with a light pink colored hair that complimented his face, and he also had large circled glasses.
"I'm starving," Miyu said, rubbing her stomach as it growled in hunger. "Do you have any food here?" Luffy asked the boy with pink hair, his hunger making him impatient. If Luffy stayed hungry for awhile, he would usually get mad, so hopefully the pirate ship will have something edible inside.
"What?" The man asked, confused, tilting his head slightly to the side. "We're both hungry. We haven't eaten in hours." Miyu explained to the boy. He shook his head "Alvida doesn't let me eat until she finished her meal."
"Who's Alvida?" Luffy asked the stupid question, making Miyu to slap his curly head. "OW!" Luffy complained, his hand making its way to his head where Miyu hit it, rubbing it to make the pain go away.
"Alvida, as in the pirate?" Miyu looked at the pink haired boy, curious if he meant Alvida the pirate. "Yeah, wait- you know her?" Miyu shook her head with her eyes closed, "Well, I don't personally know her but I've seen her posters. Everytime I see her posters I laugh. Her face in the photo is funny." Miyu chuckled, remembering Alvida's wanted poster.
"She's not something you should laugh at." Koby warned the two, he knew how Alvida was. Cold and heartless. She would end the two in seconds. "Eh." Miyu shrugged, not caring how dangerous Alvida could be.
"I found food!" Luffy said with happiness, walking towards the swordswoman before handing her the meat that was inside a wooden container. Miyu happily took it while looking at Luffy, if she didn't know who Luffy was, what type of person would she be today? She was thankful that they two were friends. They both needed each other.
"You know, were pirates too!"Luffy told Koby after smelling something that was in the air. Luffy had good senses, especially smelling. One time when Miyu and Luffy were kids, Luffy managed to smell cooked meat from a mile away, that's how strong his nose was.
"You guys don't look like pirates." Koby told them, his blue eyes glancing between the two. Miyu brought the well-cooked meat up to her mouth, taking a bite out of it before looking at the stranger, "Pirates have a certain look? I guess we're the special type of pirates." Miyu playfully hit her elbow against Luffy's ribs, making him laugh a little.
"Pirates are scum. They're thieves and murderers." Koby said, showing his dislike towards pirates. "What's your name?" Miyu asked him as she took a bottled water, opening the top of the bottle and drinking some before handing it to Luffy, since he was eyeing the water bottle. "Koby."The pink haired person answered.
"Well Koby, that's a false rumor." Miyu said with a grin. "Sure, a lot of pirates are what you described, but there are good ones. Like Shanks," Miyu looked over at Luffy, who nodded his head. Shanks was the nicest person Miyu ever met. He always cared for his people, and always made them happy. "-and my father." Miyu added with a hint of sadness in her voice. Her father died when she was young, and she still remembers the painful memory.
"I don't get it.... why would anyone want to be a pirate?" Koby asked, puzzled. "I'll let you answer that question." Miyu told Luffy as she took a bite from the meat. "cause it's the best thing there is. You have the wind in your back, the salty sea air, your loyal crew by your side," The tan boy explained with a wide smile, before Miyu cut in, "Expect we don't have a crew."
"We'll find a crew!" Luffy said with confidence, still having hope they will find a crew. Miyu sighed at the boy before taking a seat on the ground. They've been pirates for a couple of years, and their 'crew' only had her and Luffy. No matter how many times they asked people to join, they always declined the offer.
"Nothing is cool about Alvida's crew. She tells me when to eat, when to sleep. I even have to paint her nails. Koby said, frustration in his voice. Seems like Alvida was a toxic pirate captain who didn't' care about her pirate members.
"Why don't you just leave?"
"Luffy, he probably can't leave. We're surrounded by water in the middle of nowhere." Miyu pointed out. Even if there was a way to escape, Alvida would probably send her crew out to find Koby.
"I'm sure there's boats around here somewhere," Luffy said, looking around the dark area. After a brief search, he sighed in disappointment, "None here." He bit the inside of cheek, disappointed. "Told you."
"No one leaves Alvida. She'll never let me go." Koby said quietly, his head dropped in sadness as he looked at the wooden floor. Miyu thought for a second before standing up, stretching her limbs as she spoke "Maybe we can help you with that." She suggested, she really wanted to help the man be free.
"Thanks..." Koby smiled a bit at the woman, happy that someone at least wanted to try to make him free from such a toxic pirate crew. A few moments later Koby asked what they wanted the most and Luffy told him that they wanted the One Piece, a treasure that was buried years ago.
"That's impossible. Every pirate in the world is after that." Koby said with doubt, which was true. Most pirates wanted the One Piece, wondering how much gold it could be. Whoever's pirate ship finds the One Piece would be deemed to be the best pirate crew.
"Why shouldn't we be the ones to find it? As soon as we're out of here, we're heading straight to the Grand Line." Luffy told Koby his plans he wanted to do. Miyu walked over to Luffy, crossing her arms Infront of her chest. "The pirate graveyard. There are a hundred-foot waves and sea beast that'll crush your bones. Once you enter the Grand Line, you'll never return." Koby told them the dangers of trying to find the one piece, which Miyu already knew. She did her research before they went out on their search.
"As my father once said, 'be brave, don't give up.'" Miyu quoted her father's words with her voice steady. "And that's exactly what we're doing." Koby's eyes met with Miyu's brown ones "Don't give up? You're giving up your life for something that's probably not even real." Koby tried to reason with her, wanting to keep her and Luffy safe from any dangers.
"Oh, it's real." Luffy cut in the conversation, believing that the One Piece was real. He and Miyu always believed the treasure was real, ever since they were kids. One time Miyu wanted to go with shanks to find it, but he told her no and that it was too dangerous, which only made her want to find it more.
It went quiet for a moment, until a loud snoring sound broke the silence. "Is that one of the sea beasts?" Luffy questioned, looking around at the ship. "No, its just Alvida snoring." Koby answered, making Miyu laugh. "Why is she snoring so loud?" Miyu asked with a chuckle, finding it funny. "Look, if you two want to leave, you have to leave now before she wakes up." Koby ignored Miyu's question, finding the situation serious.
"Let's go then!" Luffy said eagerly, happy to be leaving the ship.
Miyu was the first to open the hatch that led them to the main dock. The first thing she spotted was the rest of the pirates sleeping peacefully, sprawled on the floor. "Wish that was me, sleeping." Miyu whispered softly to herself, but Luffy and Koby heard her. "I thought you already slept?" Luffy said quietly behind her, wondering why she was still tired. "It was in a crate, Luffy. You know how uncomfortable that was?" Koby shushed the two, focusing on leaving the ship.
The three of them crept slowly and quietly up the wooden stairs, not wanting to wake anyone up or they would be doomed. But as Miyu moved, her sword got caught up on the wood, making a loud noise that echoed throughout the area. In an instant, the pirates began to wake up.
"Shit!" Miyu cursed loudly, angry at her sword. "Language!" Luffy yelled back at her with a grin on his face, "Shut up!" Miyu snapped at him.
"What the hell is going on up there?!" Alvida shouted loudly, wondering who was yelling. The pirate crew began to climb the stairs, trying to see what was going on. Miyu stepped in front of Luffy and Koby, standing in a protective stance. She needed to protect them from the pirates, and that's what she was doing.
"What's the meaning of this?" Alvida asked Koby, noticing the two new strangers on the boat. Koby peaked his head out, looking nervously at his pirate captain. "Alvida I can explain.." He stuttered, his voice trembling. He was scared. Miyu felt bad for Koby, he was trapped in a place with a toxic person he couldn't escape from.
"You dare betray me for a bounty hunter?" Alvida asked with anger, her teeth clenching. "That's not it at all!" Koby was quick to defend himself, knowing what Alvida might do to him. "And you, you're too scrawny to be Roronoa Zoro." Alvida said when she saw Luffy. "And you, you're a woman." Alvida said when she locked eyes with Miyu.
"What does that mean?" Miyu's grip on the sword tightened, getting angry at the pirate. "Roronoa Zoro is a male name, and you're no man." Alvida took a step forward, making Miyu pull out her katana "stay away, bitch." She threatened, in response Alvida chuckled, not scared. Yet again, it was three against a whole pirate ship.
"I'm Monkey D Luffy." Luffy introduced himself, "Never heard of you."Alvida's eyes went back to the curly headed boy, wondering what he had to say. "Well remember the name because I'm going to be the king of the pirates!" Luffy said confidently, but Alvida and her crew started to burst in laughter. "What's so funny?" Miyu questioned, her knuckles turning white from how hard she gripped her sword.
"You two must be new here. Who's the most powerful pirate of the seas?" Alvida asked, which everyone in her crew shouted her name besides Miyu, Luffy- and surprisingly Koby, which did not sit well with Alvida.
Alvida slammed her weapon onto the floor, her eyes narrowing as she locked eyes onto Koby. "I'm sorry, I didn't hear you, Koby. Who's the best pirate on the sea?" Koby stayed quiet, not wanting to say Alvida's name.
"Answer me you sniveling runt." She let out a low hiss, her voice cold and dripped with venom. "He doesn't have to." Luffy spoke, the air getting more tense. "Koby is his own man." Luffy ended his sentence. "No, no he is not. He's mine."
"Is Koby your child?" Miyu randomly asked Alvida, her brows raising. "No," Alvida's head snapped towards Miyu, "so he's not yours then. Sorry." Miyu said with a smirk on her pink lips, flashing a smirk as she stood still, her hands still around her sword handle.
"He said that you were mean, and cruel and you're as dumb as a sea cow!" Luffy shouted. Miyu elbowed him in the stomach, he winced in response "Ow!".
Alvida yelled as she swung her bat towards Koby, but Luffy quickly ducked in to save him. Miyu pointed her katana at Alvida in a threatening way, a smile on her face "Wanna play games? We can play." Alvida growled as she picked her weapon off of the ground, targeting it in Miyu's direction, but Miyu swiftly slid across the floor, slicing Alvida's leg with her sword. Alvida cried in pain from the painful cut on her leg, slamming her bat down near Miyu, but she did a backflip and landed next to Luffy.
One of Alvida's crew members aimed a gun at Miyu and pulled the trigger, the bullet flying in the air. Without thinking, Luffy jumped in front of Miyu, the bullet going in his chest before bouncing out. "Thanks rubber boy." Miyu thanked him with a smile, relief that he ate a devil fruit when he was a child that gave him powers.
"You're welcome!" Luffy gave her a smile before it dropped "Watch out!" Luffy shouted, shoving Miyu out of the way just as Alvida swung her bat, missing Miyu by an inch. "What kind of monster are you?" Alvida asked with Luffy, her voice angry but curious, wanting to know how Luffy didn't get shot.
"The stretching kind." Alvida let out a roar before swinging her bat at Luffy, which he dodged. Her focus was now on Luffy, taking an interest in his powers.
Luffy landed near the stirring wheel, but Alvida furiously swung her bat and hit the stirring wheel, breaking it. "You! This is all your fault!" Alvida screamed, running to Koby, her eyes flaring with fire. She just wanted Koby to die and pay for what he did.
Luffy stepped in Koby's way as Alvida's weaponed slammed on his head with a thud. "That was disgusting." Miyu gagged at the scene, her face scrunching in discomfort. She couldn't even imagine how painful that must have been if it had hit her head, yikes.
"Gum gum!!" Luffy shouted, winding his arms all the way backwards. "Pistol!!!" he threw his fist forward, the impact sending Alvida flying into the ocean. "Well that was fun. Got my daily cardio out of that." Miyu said as she put her sword back into its sheath, revealing a small knife she kept on her belt, just in case she needed to use it.
"Does anyone else have a problem with Koby?" Luffy asked the rest of the crew. The crew stayed quiet while they looked around, confused at their current situation. "Good. We're going to need a boat and enough food for a few days." Luffy spoke, turning and walking away.
"Koby, do you want to come with us?" Miyu asked the man with a soft and calmly voice, she wanted him to come with. If he stayed on Alvida's ship, her crew might hurt him. "Me?" Koby asked, surprised. "Yeah!" After a few moments, Koby nodded his head
"alright, I'll come with you guys."
