Alaskas feet hit the hospital floors harshly, trailing blood from the amount of kicks she did to others nose. She was sobbing, horribly. She hadn't been well at running, yet her pace kept up with the gurney that was pulled from the ambulance. Alaska lied and said she was Miguel's sister so she could ride with him, sobbing the whole way and calling Carmen in the process.

"Miguel, please, i'm right here." Alaska sobbed as she was suddenly grabbed by a nurse while Miguel was wheeled through the doors and to surgery immediately, "No! No! I have to go with him!"

"You have to stay back, miss, he's being brought to surgery." the nurse said as Alaska sobbed and continued to fight against her, "Miss, please."

"He can't die." Alaska cried as she managed to make herself stop fighting, "He can't die."

The nurse let Alaska go as she eyed her injuries, "We need to get these looked at immediately, your face is bleeding."

"Miguel." was all Alaska could say as she cried, "Is he going to die?"

"Alaska!" a voice echoed in her ears.

"You can't let him die! Please!" Alaska yelled as she grabbed hold of the nurses body and shook her slightly.

"Alaska!"

"Alaska!"

"Babe!" Elis voice rung clearly as Alaska sat up quickly with a gasp, the memory playing like a dream over and over again since Miguel was taken to the hospital a few days ago. Alaska held her heart as she rubbed her face, feeling the salty tears she must have produced while sleeping. Alaska jumped when Eli touched her, relaxing slightly when she saw him, "Shhh, it's okay, I'm right here."

Alaska cried as she fell into his arms, sobbing and whimpering while he stroked her head and rocked her slightly. Eli pressed a kiss to her forehead as he looked at the time, reading it at two in the morning, the same time she always woke up yelling, "I'm right here."

"Alaska? Daring? Did you hear me?" Zanes voice brought Alaska's attention away from her phone as she looked up at him the next morning, blinking as the pancakes laid infront of her.

"What?" Alaska asked him with a clear of her throat.

"I asked if you are going into school today?" Zane questioned as Gina listened closely from the kitchen but pretended not to be, making three extra pancakes.

"No." Alaska spoke quickly, her voice scratchy from the amount of crying she'd done the past few days, "I just wanted to get to the hospital early."

"Is Eli picking up your work for you?" Gina asked, setting the extra plate next to Alaska before taking her own seat next to Zane. Alaska nodded her head but didn't say anything. Her parented shared a look as the awkward silence took of them, having it broke by loud feet jogging down the steps, "Good morning."

"Morning." Hawk said as he sat next to Alaska, taking a long time to do his hair upstairs, "Thanks for the pancakes."

Zane rolled his eyes at the boys presence while Gina grinned and gave his back a small rub from where she was at the end of the table, "Are you sure today is the day you need to go back, sweetie?"

Alaskas mom had always loved Eli, ever since she met him at a field trip at the end of second grade. He was such a good influence on Alaska from a young age, always helped her at her lowest. Alaska was a different kid, she didn't comprehend things the same way the others students did and never understood the concept of many things. While they always used the excuse she had a large imagination, the underlining reason was her brain wasn't wired the same as the other students. While as she got older things made more since to her, at times she still had trouble in certain school topics.

Eli was more advance while Alaska wasnt, he looked out for her just as she did him. He'd always been there to help her in classes as they grew older, being able to explain things to her better. Gina loved him for that, treated him as family from the amount of times they'd see him. She couldn't remember a time Alaska hadn't asked for him when things got hard, hadn't remembered a time where he wasn't the only thing that could comfort her.

"It's probably best if I do, one of us needs to go at least." Hawk confirmed with a nod of his head, his hand grabbing Alaska's under the table.

"So does that mean you won't be staying the night anymore?" Zane asked, trying to hide his excitement as Alaska gave him a look of disbelief.

"He's staying." she said quickly toward her dad.

"He is." Gina confirmed, drinking the orange juice from her wine glass, "Eli, you should come to the cook out on saturday."

"Oh yes, please come to the cook out and meet my mothers son she failed to tell anyone she was in contact with." Alaska snapped out of nowhere, all eyes at the table turning her way. Zane grabbed Ginas hand tightly, a way of telling her she hadn't meant it. They've been giving her horrible attitude attitude a slide the past few days because of the amount of pain she was holding in, but it wasn't hard to tell Gina was at her breaking point with her.

"Alaska-" she began before her daughter shot up from her seat and heading for the door. Zane looked to Eli as the boy cleared his throat, thanking the pair for breakfast before hurrying after her.

It was never completely silent in the car with Alaska and Hawk, they always had something to talk about or they'd sing together. Not now, now she hadn't said a thing which brought him to silence. His eyes flickered over to her every now and then, watching as she didn't move her position from just staring out the window. As he pulled into the hospital parking lot, he broke the silence, "Alaska?"

Her head turned to him with a soft look, "Yes?"

"Do you want to stay home longer? I can go with you." he spoke concerned. Neither of them felt or acted the same since Miguel's accident, but her lack of words were alarming. Alaska comforted herself with talking, she always had. The only time she hadn't was when she was using, drugs was what comforted her then. It scared him, panicked him in thinking she'd been using again.

"No, you should go." she said while undoing her seatbelt, "I'll have Carmen, just text me when you get there so I know you got there safe."

"I will." he said, reaching over to hold the sides of her face and kiss her forehead, "What if I just go half the day?"

"Eli." Alaska said, a minor laugh leaving her lips as he grinned, holding her face better, "I'll text you if anything's changed, I promise."

"Maybe while you're here you can catch one of your AA meetings." he spoke subtly, knowing this is where they were held from the amount of times he'd dropped her off at them, "I'll get all your work for you."

"Maybe so." Alaska nodded her head, though she knew an AA meeting was the least of her worry's right now, "Just be good, okay? Don't get yourself in trouble."

Hawk nodded his head as he leaned across the console to hug her, Alaska hugged him back longer then intended, "Do you want to come to karate after school with me?"

"I already told you no." she snapped at him suddenly, pulling away from their hug, "How many times do I have to repeat myself?"

"It could be good for you." he tried again, "With sensei Kreese teaching us now-"

"God, just drop it!" Alaska suddenly snapped at him, an annoyed expression his way. Hawks mouth shut as he looked down at her words, not bothering to yell back at her. Alaska immediately felt guilty, immediately let her eyes water, "I'm sorry."

"It's okay." he tried to say, voice low with a shrug.

"It's not okay, I should never talk to you like that." Alaska said as she grabbing his face so he could look at her, "I didn't mean too."

"It's okay, Alaska." he told her, knowing she wasn't herself right now and probably wouldn't be until she knew if Miguel would be okay or now. Until he woke up, if he woke up.

Alaska kissed him gently on the lips before pulling back, "You're the only thing keeping me sane right now, I don't mean to get so angry at you."

Hawk held her face softly and shook his head, "I know you don't, it's not your fault."

Alaska leaned into his touch more as she looked at the clock, "I should let you go."

"Answer my text, okay?" he asked her as Alaska nodded, "I'll see you in a little bit."

Alaska kissed his forehead as she got
out of the car, continuing to feel guilty for the way she spoke to him as she headed inside. Alaska twisted the badger ring around her finger, making her way through the hospital that she'd become ridiculously comfortable with. Her feet took her down the hall to the room she knew too well, the one she nearly always stayed in.

"Hi, Mija." Yaya said as she kissed Alaska on the cheek. Alaska gave her a sad smile as she looked to Miguel who looked just as he did yesterday, asleep in the hospital bed. Alaska looked toward Carmen in hopes of having some form of good news, only getting a head shake. Alaska frowned as she sat next to the woman, getting wrapped under her arm immediately as the pair sat with Miguel.

Alaska reached over and held his hand softly, "Do you think he can feel me?"

"I hope so." Carmen said while stoking her hair, "I know he can hear us though, the doctors said so anyways."

Alaska scooted closer to Miguel as she pulled her badger ring off and placed it in the palm of his hand, using her own hand to tighten his fingers around it, "He knows i'm here, he has to."

"I know he does." Carmen said a she pulled Alaska back into her arms as the pair sat in silence with Miguel.
