So I did make a good bit of changes to the werewolves just to add some extra spunk to them. I didn't like how boring the werewolves in Twilight were compared to series like Teen Wolf or the Vampire Diaries. Where they just had so much more dimension to them. Like I want glowing eyes, uncontrollable outbursts, loosing control on a full moon, claws and fangs popping out. I WANT FUN AND DRAMATIC 🤩 !
So how it works is that the werewolf gene derived fron the Quillette tribe. And over the hundreds of years when tribe members married outside of the tribe, the gene was passed on. Hence multiple packs. Werewolves CAN be made by a bite or scratch in this series, but only if bitten or scratched by an alpha. And the likelihood of the individual surviving the phasing is slim. The gene can lay dormant for centuries. It only takes one Quillette ancestor for the gene to pass on. Even if it's a great great great aunt. But just because someone has the gene doesn't mean they are a werewolf. It all depends on the gene and if it decides to lay dormant or not. The gene awakens often when a threat posses itself.
So here's the main changes.
1) They can grow claws out of their fingernails when they either loose control or are about to shift, or if they just wanna defend themselves without phasing entirely.
2) Same with fangs ^
3) THEIR EYES GLOW!!! When they're in human form and start to either loose control, or their claws/fangs pop out their eyes glow too. Idea comes from Teen Wolf, all credit to them.
Red: Alphas exclusively.
Amber/burnt orange: Betas and Thetas.
Yellow/gold: Most common eye color, occurs in the majority of subordinate ranking wolves.
Blue: Occurs when a Beta, Theta, or a subordinate kills a human (any human, even ones that aren't innocent.) It represent an internal change within the individual from taking a life.
Green: Rogues, wolves without a pack.
Black: A feral werewolf. One that has lost all of their human side, and let the animalistic side completely take over. At this point, most of the time they're beyond saving.
4) When a wolf phases for the first time if they don't have an alpha there to guide them then they can easily loose control and go on a killing rampage because of the initial confusion.
5) Gaining control takes time!! They kind of elaborated on this when Paul phases in front of Bella and when Sam hurts Emily, but then later on never really talk about it again. I want to emphasize that even the most experienced wolves can still loose it and phase out of control. When a werewolf is out of control he/she takes a lot to calm down depending on how angry they are. Usually either their alpha calming them down or pain can calm them down. Hence why Jacob attacked Paul to snap him out of it.
6) When a wolf is out of control they can loose all sense of judgement and go into a frenzy like mode, where their animalistic side completely takes over.
7) Full moons make them freak tf out. Their abilities are at their peak, but at the cost of heightened aggression and bloodlust. They can learn to control it, but withholding themselves from transforming on a full moon altogether will cause immense pain and a sort of like brain fog where they can't think clearly. A lot of werewolves will lock themselves up on a full moon even those who know how to control it. Because snapping is 10x easier to do when the moon is full and loosing it once can cause them to loose control and hurt someone.
8) Alpha voice/control. Alpha's have an ability where they can completely control the will of their pack IF they choose to do so. A lot of alphas don't do this because it's a major abuse of their power. But they can essentially order their pack members to do something, and the individual will go into a zombie like state where they will do whatever it is their alpha wishes. The only time an alpha voice doesn't work is if the pack member is out of control, not even an alpha can control an outburst. Hence why Sam couldn't stop Paul from loosing it with Bella.
9) If an alpha kills their pack members their power increases significantly, it's about the sacrifice of their own pack members for power. But a part of them internally snaps, causing them to inherently become much more feral due to their increased power/and the mental toll of killing their own pack members.
