Duality of Being

The protagonist harbors doubt regarding the authenticity of the moon, pondering its mere illusory nature. Upon casting his gaze upon his comrades, his brethren, who find themselves in the same infernal predicament, he muses upon the unfortunate confluence of circumstances that has brought them together in this desolate realm.

"Fret not so, Hyunjin, for I am confident that we shall uncover an escape from this abyss," reassures the youngest member of their cohort, Jeongin, as he envelops his taller sibling in a comforting embrace. However, Hyunjin remains unconvinced by hollow assurances.

He pushes away Jeongin and directs his gaze towards their leader, the eldest sibling, Chan. "Chan, what course of action should we pursue?" he inquires.

Chan pauses, stroking his chin in contemplation. The peculiar stares they receive pale in comparison to the nefarious entities that roam this realm. Nevertheless, Chan's formidable demeanor is enough to deter any potential adversaries who are averse to confrontation.

"I am uncertain, Jinne. It would be prudent for us to secure lodgings before attempting to escape this abysmal pit," he asserted. Hyunji, in agreement, emits a thoughtful hum before turning to their esteemed leader, Lee Know.

Lee Know contemplates briefly before stating, "I concur with my esteemed companion. Let us depart posthaste, for lingering here any longer would undoubtedly lead to dire consequences."

They swiftly depart from the dreary locale and stumble upon a somewhat bustling marketplace. The scene is rife with individuals engaged in unsavory activities, including debauchery and death. Hyunjin's contempt for this place only grows stronger.

Suddenly, a tremor reverberates throughout the area, causing all present to cower in fear. Despite the palpable sense of dread, some manage to maintain a semblance of a smile. As a shadow falls across the abandoned market, the boys gaze skyward to behold a colossal beast with outstretched wings and a sinuous tail, its wingbeats carving through the air.

The colossal hell-dragon descends upon the scorched earth, its majestic form striking fear into the hearts of onlookers. With a menacing gaze emanating from its deep purple eyes, the creature gradually focuses its attention on the young newcomers.

"Ah, fresh blood," it croons, lowering its head to meet the eye level of the boys. "Welcome to the depths of hell. I am known as Y/N. Would you care for a place to rest?"

Chan steps forward. "We are hesitant, for we are unfamiliar with your identity and the potential offerings," he remarks, his tone brusque. The dragon rumbles a chuckle before using a talon to gently lift Chan's chin, holding his face within its massive claws. "As skeptical as ever, I see, Bang Chan. It is a pleasure to see that you have remained unchanged, my dear. I have nothing more to offer than accommodation in a luxurious establishment," she indicates with a flick of her tail towards a distant building.

Felix and Changbin share a glance. "Wait, what did you say, Y/N? It cannot be! She passed away many moons ago!" Felix burst out.

Y/N chuckles and lowers her gaze, releasing Chan, who is as red as a pomegranate. "It is indeed I, dear Felix," she affirms before extending open palms towards the radiant sunshine boy, who eagerly rushes in. Jisung follows suit, but Hyunjin and the others choose to stay back.

"How did you meet your demise in such a way and end up here?" Seungmin inquires, as the dragoness gazes upon them. "You are unaware of the deeds I committed that led me to this place, but I harbor no regrets," she replies. A shadow creeps over the ground, and shortly after, a peculiarly attired man with sharp teeth appears with a smile. "Darling, we should return swiftly, for Charlie will commence his tale soon," he remarks.

Y/N hums softly, "I appreciate your concern, but allow me to handle these tasks," she says as she gracefully sweeps a wing and ascends into the air. Felix and Jisung let out surprised yelps as they are lifted off the ground, with Chan rushing towards them and Hyunjin watching in awe. The man at the dragoness's side chuckles, shakes his head, and vanishes, before lifting Hyunjin and the others into the air.

When they finally arrive at the hotel, all the boys are frazzled and dizzy. Jisung leans heavily on Lee Know, who holds him close, his sharp eyes scanning the surroundings. The man in red emerges and twirls his cane, "Welcome to the Hazbin Hotel; we trust your stay will be enjoyable!" he declares, giving a slight bow. "I am Alastor, the manager of this establishment."

Chan steps forward, but Y/N swiftly descends in a flurry of shadows. "I apologize for the abrupt interruption, but I cannot allow anyone else to accompany you on an uncertain journey. Henceforth, this shall be your abode until you decide otherwise," she declares, bowing her head. Leaning into Chan's chest, he instinctively grips onto her imposing horns for support. The dragon then recedes, revealing a tall, elegant woman in her place. Hyunjin blinks rapidly in astonishment; he had never envisioned Y/N as a woman, having only encountered her in dragon form. This realization dawns upon him suddenly.

She then inclines her head, "Now, please follow me. I shall give you a tour, and I sincerely hope that you will consider staying. There is much I wish to discuss with you all," she gestures for them to come along with a graceful hand motion, leading the way up the stairs with Stray Kids trailing behind her.

Later that day (if time even exists in this realm), Stray Kids find themselves at the bar, ordering drinks from the bartender, a feline demon named Husk. Chan holds his head slightly, and Hyunjin observes him, asking, "Are you feeling alright, hyung? This environment seems to be unsettling you." Chan sighs, "No, not particularly. This is not a suitable place for idols like us." Husk gazes at them, remarking, "There are establishments where you may still be recognized as music idols. I recall a time when Y/N was a fervent listener of your music." With a roll of his eyes and a smile gracing his muzzle, he continues, "Perhaps you have a connection with Y/N." Hyunjin pipes up, inquiring, "Do you happen to be acquainted with Y/N?"

Husk nods, a blush appearing on his soft, white fur cheeks. "I do indeed. She was the first and only one who has not faltered in her efforts to connect with me here, apart from Charlie, Vaggie, and Alastor. They are the few individuals whom I truly trust."

Chan sighs, "I do trust her, but it's unsettling to see her in this infernal realm when we first encountered her in her previous kingdoms. She exuded kindness, impeccable behavior, and offered valuable assistance when we encountered challenges during our tours across the dragon kingdoms." Rubbing his eyes, he shakes his head. "I believe I need some rest. Carry on without me, but inform me if the need arises." With that, he stands and slinks away up the stairs to their quarters.

Meanwhile, Lee Know claps his hands. "Well, if anyone is inclined to explore, please do." Turning to Husk, he inquires, "Are there any relatively secure locations here?" The bartender feline shakes his head. "In this netherworld, there is no truly safe refuge, only areas slightly less hazardous than during the extermination period."

The boys gaze at him with concern and trepidation evident in their eyes. Husk sighs, lifting a can of beer. "Do not fret. I am confident that Alastor would be willing to lend his support to assist you in this matter."

The sinuous figure emerges in a flickering of shadows, his smile unwavering as his crimson gaze surveys the newcomers who have struck a bargain with his Y/n. He decides to let this transgression pass for now.

"Very well," he murmurs as the seven individuals smile before following the manager out of Husk's line of sight. He reclines back on a stool, reflecting, I only hope they will remain unharmed. I would detest witnessing Y/n's heartbreak over a mere few stragglers.
