THE INSTRUCTOR

- in which jungkook stumbles upon a pole dancing class after his daily workout at the gym and can't seem to get the instructor off his mind; requested by @Linfavitalee

Jungkook's hands shake as he steps off the treadmill with an exhausted sigh, reaching up to catch the drops of sweat that bead on his forehead and trickle down his cheeks. He glances wearily to his left to see Hoseok, one of his closest friends and the only one who'll go to the gym with him, slowing down to a walk on his own treadmill, looking as handsome as he always does despite being just as exhausted as the younger.

Silently, Hoseok falls in line beside Jungkook, slinging his arm over the younger's shoulder to give him a loving and proud pat on the back as they lead each other to the locker room to get changed.

Jungkook finds this to be the best part of his daily trips to the gym with Hoseok; the silence between the two never failing to remind him of the strength of his friendship and Hoseok's warm hand against his skin enough to reassure him that he did great today, although the first is more important to him.

The two of them walk past a studio that Jungkook habitually finds himself looking into, wondering if he'll once again feel the disappointment of seeing it bare, empty and dull so imagine his surprise when he looks in to see a group of several women swinging themselves around poles to techno music that vibrates through his limbs.

He pauses to stare, wide-eyed, Hoseok only doing the same once he notices that Jungkook is no longer trailing by his side. Bewildered, he glances over his shoulder to see the younger staring shamelessly at the class as if he's never seen women before. Unable to do anything other than laugh, Hoseok is quick to snap his dear friend out of his mildly creepy daze with a slap to the back of the head.

Jungkook jolts, whining childishly as he bats his friend's hands away aimlessly before calming down enough to, hesitantly, ask a question, "When did they set up a...pole dancing class?"

"Ages ago," Hoseok explains with a little smirk, sneaking a peek of the room himself despite nudging at Jungkook's shoulders to get him to move in. "They just had the class in one of the back rooms. Looks like Y/N fought hard enough to get them to move it here."

Jungkook tears his eyes away, baffled, from the class in progress with his eyebrows furrowed upon realising that he has never heard the name Y/N come out of Hoseok's mouth before. Usually, his hyung would jump at the opportunity to talk about someone he knows, especially if it's a girl, in hopes of getting the younger to branch out; however, Jungkook's shock doesn't stop him from asking, "Who's Y/N?"

Hoseok chuckles sheepishly, lifting a hand to guide Jungkook's face back towards the class. "The instructor, that's Y/N."

Jungkook's gaze is naturally drawn to the girl he was staring at in the first place, her smile radiant and unforgivably captivating as she curves her toned body around the pole and hangs herself upside down. Her gorgeously highlighted hair sweeps the floor as the sun beats upon her, giving her a glow that can only be described as heavenly.

If Jungkook was hooked before, he's certainly trapped now.

She guides herself back to the ground with ease, motioning for her students to try and mimic her movements. She stalks the room like a graceful swan, helping out and providing encouragement where she can all while wearing an expression that Jungkook finds himself craving more of. It's not long before she looks towards the glass and spots the two men watching with vastly different expressions, Jungkook just managing to make out Hoseok's figure waving wildly in his peripheral vision.

She excuses herself and jogs towards the door, Jungkook's heart jumping into his throat the very second she yanks opens the door and pounces at Hoseok, latching onto him for a hug as he spins her around with a fond laugh, leaving Jungkook to watch in both awe and envy.

"Looking good in there," he hums when she peels herself off him with a cheeky little grin that catches Jungkook's wandering eye.

"Thanks," she beams in return, casting a curious look over her shoulder, one that meets the eyes of the bunny desperate to get a word in. Hoseok catches on immediately and sighs sheepishly, motioning towards his friend with a welcoming hand, "Ah, right. Y/N, this is Jungkook, my friend, and Jungkook, this is Y/N, an instructor and one of my students."

"Students?" Jungkook pouts, pondering on what type of student she could possibly be to Hoseok until it finally hits him, "Oh, one of your tutoring students?"

She nods and reaches out to clasp onto his hand, his immediate reaction being to soundlessly pray that his hands aren't clammy, "His favourite, of course, and it's nice to finally meet you, Jungkook. Hoseok never shuts up about you."

"It's nice to meet you too, although this is the first I'm hearing of you," Jungkook awkwardly returns, dropping her hand despite wanting to hold onto it a little longer. "So, um, you teach pole dancing?"

"Yeah," she sighs proudly, motioning towards the class with a lopsided grin. "My mum used to teach pole dancing as a sport so she got me into it."

"Oh," Jungkook chirps, offering her an interested grin in order to keep her talking, "I didn't know that pole dancing was a sport."

"Well, most people don't," she chuckles sheepishly, reaching up to tighten her ponytail and take a not so subtle step closer to him. "It's really good for toning your muscles and improving your flexibility."

"That's helpful," he hums, leaning against the wall with a look on his face that very clearly reads how utterly smitten he is for a girl he's literally been talking to for thirty seconds. Hoseok shakes his head in disbelief.

"It is," she exclaims with a clap of her hands, looking as if she's got a whole lot more to say but her eyes drift habitually to her class and she frowns. "I should probably head back in there but I'd love it if we could all go out sometime."

Despite feeling sad that she has to now leave, Jungkook nods eagerly, sending her off with a cheerful wave that matches Hoseok's signature 'sunshine' smile.

*

It's been days since Jungkook last saw Y/N and, yet, the girl's beautifully warm smile and her heavenly laugh remain on repeat in his mind, making his cheeks burn at the most unexpected times of day.

He had always thought that falling for someone would feel exactly like this, like the first day of spring where all the flowers awaken from their slumber.

The next week, on a day that Jungkook wouldn't describe as anything less than normal—well, his new normal that now involves random but not unwanted thoughts of you, Hoseok barges into his room with a cheeky little grin that usually meant something exciting was about to happen.

Jungkook perks up, closing his laptop to give Hoseok his undivided attention.

"Y/N called," he teases in a sing-song voice that makes Jungkook wince, "she wants to have dinner with us tonight."

Jungkook can't help but smile as his heart swells at the thought of finally being able to see her again. He wonders if she's been thinking about him too before his thoughts drift to what he might decide to wear tonight, no longer aware of Hoseok's presence even when the older offers him a fond smile and leaves the room.

He immediately bounds to his closet and sifts through the array of clothes he has hanging in there, pulling his bottom lip in between his teeth as he runs his fingers over a white, button-up shirt with lace rose details, hesitating for longer than necessary before tugging it out and laying it out on his bed.

He repeats this process with the rest of his ensemble, spending ample time dwelling on each and every aspect, making sure he looks as good as he possibly can. He studies his masterpiece in the mirror with pride painting his eyes a warm shade of brown, sighing nervously as he feels his fingers tingle at the thought of being able to see her smile, hear her laugh and catch a whiff of that floral perfume she wears on her neck.

He can't wait to see you again.

Giddy and excited in a way that brings out his trademarked bunny smile and makes his wide eyes glisten like they house the galaxy, he runs down to the car where Hoseok waits, whistling when his friend approaches, "You tryna impress someone?"

"Shut up and drive," the younger whines when he settles himself into the car, tugging at his seatbelt despite the guilty expression he wears on his face like a robber would when being confronted for his crime.

Jungkook can't hide his disappointment when Hoseok parks in front of the restaurant and mindlessly comments on how she seemed to have arrived before the two of them, knowing very well it's because of him that they're a little late.

He makes apologising to you his first priority upon entering, her smile kind and laced with traces of relief as she dismisses his apologetic stares. Hoseok claps Jungkook on the back and offers to grab drinks for the three of them, winking slyly at his young friend before melting into the crowd.

"You go to the same college as us, yeah?" she hums, ripping at a napkin laid out in front of her, her eyes streaked with bold lines of curiosity. He nods with a shrug, poking at the salt shaker with disinterest. "What class are you majoring in?"

"Music," he answers shyly, scratching the back of his head when she claps her hands together and leans forward, looking more interested in his passion than anyone else he's ever spoken to.

"I knew you'd be in music! You have the smile for it. What is it like?" she rambles, lips moving animatedly as he chuckles, very clearly in a daze.

"Really fun, actually. I grew up with music so I guess it was kind of a given that I'd end up going down that path," he reflects truthfully, humming in agreement to his own statement.

"If you like music so much, why don't you think about joining a class?" she jokes with a coy wink, stifling a laugh as Jungkook manages to keep a straight face while declining her offer, the amusement in his eyes enough to tell her that even he is struggling to keep it together.

Hoseok returns in the midst of the straight face showdown with three bottles of Coke, grinning suggestively as he sets them down, "I see you two are getting along well."

Jungkook shares an embarrassed smile with the girl sitting across from him, his cheeks tingling as Hoseok gets himself settled with a clear of his throat, "So, how's the dating life?" Hoseok is unfazed by the abruptness of his own question but Jungkook shoots the older a warning look and a swift kick to his shin underneath the table.

He's afraid of scaring Y/N off but she merely smiles with a little laugh, "Single, as usual. How about you two?"

Jungkook shrugs once more, nodding over at her empathetically, "The same as you." She offers him a friendly wink before motioning for the both of them to turn to Hoseok with raised eyebrows, the older suspiciously sipping from his drink.

"Okay, fine," he exclaims after the combination of the heavy silence and intense staring gets to him in a way that makes his skin crawl. "I'm dating a guy named Yoongi. He sometimes sits around at the gym while waiting for his friend so we got to talking."

Jungkook's eyes almost fall out of their sockets as he turns to see her face almost a mirror image of his own. Hoseok is rather quick to change the subject, his hands folded neatly in front of him as he smiles dangerously. "The both of you are single, how about you two just date?"

Hoseok deserves the next kick to the shin he receives but it still doesn't stop both Jungkook and Y/N from turning away to hide their flushed cheeks and giddy smiles.

The night progresses in a similar fashion with loads of jokes and casual conversation that leaves Jungkook feeling all warm inside. He doesn't want the night to end but he knows it will have to so he spends some time admiring the way she stands out amongst the growing crowd of the restaurant, holding his gaze for so long that he's afraid he might never be able to look away.

Hoseok's shrill ringtone shatters through the enjoyment of the night, Jungkook's eyebrows furrowing together as he watches his friend pick up the phone with a frown of his own. Even Y/N pauses from scooping up the last of her dessert off her plate to stare at her tutor in curiosity.

"Hi, Yoongs," Hoseok greets cheerfully, putting the phone to his ear with a dreamy smile; however, it disappears as quickly as it came, Jungkook's hand instinctively reaching out to massage his friend's shoulder comfortingly. "Slow down, honey, it's okay. Tell me what happened."

"Okay, calm down," Hoseok pleads, slowly beginning to gather his things as he listens intently to his lover's replies before sighing worriedly. "I'll be home in ten, okay? Don't worry."

He hangs up and jumps into action, grabbing onto his jacket and keys clumsily before flashing the two of them apologetic smiles. "I'm so sorry but I have to go, Yoongi's—"

"It's okay, hyung," Jungkook beams, noticing the way Hoseok falls speechless when trying to explain what has happened but if the whimpers and gasps for air from the other end of the line were anything to go by, Jungkook knows Hoseok has to leave as soon as he can. "We'll finish up here and I'll take Y/N home."

"Thanks, I'll see you guys later," Hoseok huffs gratefully, jogging out of the restaurant as Y/N follows him out with her eyes, turning to look at Jungkook with a slight frown. He knows exactly what she's thinking and gives her hand a soft pat. "I'm sure he's fine."

She nods, seemingly taken aback by his gesture before suggesting that the two should leave. He tells her to wait by the door and he'll be there soon before rushing to the counter to pay for their meals, bidding the waiter a good night as he hesitantly places his hand on the small of her back and leads her out of the restaurant.

"My place is not too far from him so, if it's too much trouble, you can just head home on your own," she offers politely, tilting her head towards a street that seems to be rather empty, leaving Jungkook uncomfortable with the idea of letting her go alone.

"No, it's okay," he reassures, scratching the back of his head sweetly. "I was actually hoping we'd get the chance to talk some more."

With a chuckle, the two of them take off, picking up the conversation exactly where it was left off in the warmth of the restaurant. True to her word, it only takes the two of them five minutes to reach her tiny house on the corner of a homey looking street. Jungkook's mood deflates with every step he takes towards her doorstep but he keeps his movements cheerful.

The click of her door opening is like a bullet through Jungkook's heart but he watches as she turns to face him with a longing smile. "I hope I can see you again," he shyly admits, kicking a pebble sitting on the bottom step with a chuckle.

"Yeah, me too," she agrees, leaning against her door frame as if admiring the way he looks underneath the masterpiece that is the night sky.

"I'll be going now then," he sighs, giving her a small wave before he begins to turn on his heel; however, he doesn't make it far for her hand wraps around his forearm to tug him back. He looks at her expectantly as she searches his face for any sign of refusal. When she can't see anything that objects to her actions, she leans in and presses her lips against the corner of his upturned lips.

"Goodnight, Kookie," she breathes, poking his cheek with a giggle before returning back to her door, looking over her shoulder just in time for him to say, "Night, Y/N."

With a breathless laugh, Jungkook begins to walk back down her driveway, his fingers trembling as they hover the place where her lips touched.
