Β Β Β π πππππ ππππππ ππππππ back the light purple curtains in the kitchen, the sound of crickets chirped endlessly and the musky smell of fresh rain made its way into the small house at the edge of a small town in Washington. The only light was coming from down stairs, just above the small dining table as well as a single lamp in the living room.
Β Β A steaming cup of hot chocolate with cinnamon and whipped cream was freshly made, sitting half-drunk by multiple paperwork that consisted of a bunch of different study sheets, old and new. The only form of transportation in the driveway was a 2000 Harley Davidson, covered with a plastic sheet due to the recent shower, which is pretty much normal Forks weather.
Β Β Β The only occupant in the small home sat at the end of the table, her recently trimmed, wild curls pulled up in a very messy bun, multiple pieces sticking out from the sides. She was wearing a pair of black pajama shorts with an aqua Miami Dolphins sweatshirt. She was currently rocking large monster slippers as well as her new prescription glasses she received a week ago, seeing as she now needs them to read apparently.
Β Β Β The eighteen year old girl was currently working on an equation she has seen many times, but was struggling to comprehend. Well, more like she was tapping her pencil against the notebook while getting distracted for the hundred times in the last hour.
Β Β Β Liz Chambers can not remember the last time she was this bored. Studying alone was probably the worst thing for someone who was very hyperactive and hated sitting still. She had already gotten up to go to the bathroom multiple times and to also get snacks and make herself this hot chocolate, which she was currently sipping on. She has opened and closed the window five times because the crickets were distracting, but also she became a bit warm and would always open it back up.Β
Β Β After another five minutes, she nearly finished her hot beverage, realizing it only made her thirsty. Grateful for the excuse to get up and avoid this horrible problem she was stuck on, she went to grab herself a glass and immediately stood in front of the fridge, debating on what to have. After a minute, her phone buzzed from her pocket, causing the blonde to sigh dramatically. Pulling out her phone, she wasn't surprised to see the message appear once again.
Β Β Are you studying? - Jasper
Β Β Liz couldn't help but roll her eyes, seeing as this is the third time he has texted her asking her something like this. He wasn't the only one. Her whole entourage of friends have been taking turns checking in with her every ten minutes to make sure she was studying and remind her to focus, knowing how easily distracted she can be. It was really working in the beginning, up until she got to the problem that she is so discouraged by every time she sees it, all she wants to do is run away from it.
Β Β Β Sending her boyfriend a quick response, not exactly lying to him when she said yes but didn't make an effort to return to her work. Instead, she poured herself some lemonade and decided to take a much needed break. Ester was working and Danny was patrolling. Sam had upped the security patrols for the pack since Victoria was still out there and was still a threat. And since the Cullen's were back, Danny said Sam wasn't taking any chances.
Β Β Β Walking back over to the table, Liz took a look at the textbooks and study sheets sitting in front of her and internally groaned. It wasn't that late, only seven on a Thursday and she was quite literally exhausted from studying so much. So instead, she maneuvered herself around the table and made her way into the living room. Setting her glass down on the coffee table, Liz migrated towards the CD rack, shuffling through all of Danny's music. He loved a lot of classic rock, something he and Mitch have in common.
Β Β Speaking of Mitch, he had made her a mixtape of a bunch of music he thought she would like. He's been trying to broaden her horizon outside of Whitney Houstin, Brittany Spears, Shania Twain and Dolly Parton. It's not like she doesn't like other singers, she just idolized these four women. Heading over towards her backpack that was hanging on the back of the chair, she pulled out the CD which was labeled 'better music' because Mitch likes to think he is funny and puts it in, hitting play.
Β Β The first song she recognized instantly, a large smile spreading on her lips. The fact that he even thinks she doesn't know this song is very insulting. He clearly does not know her or her love for eighties movies.
Β Β But seriously, who hasn't seen Footloose? 'Holding Out For A Hero' by Bonnie Tyler is something she used to dance to every time she heard it when she was a kid. And nothing was stopping her now, not as she grabbed the first thing she could get her hands on to use as a microphone - which turned out to be the remote control to the TV - and began singing horribly and dancing wildly.
Β Β Being mindful of her knee, which has been getting slightly better with all the extra therapy she's been doing, she danced all around the living, even climbing onto the couch and continued to sing the words into her pretend microphone. Jumping off the couch, Liz continues to dance all wild and crazy, kicking her feet out in front of her and rocking her head back and forth.
Β Β Β "So this is your idea of studying?"
Β Β Β Liz let out a mild screech, spinning around to see the front door was pushed open and a certain honey blonde haired vampire stood leaning against the door frame, muscular arms crossed over his chest and a very amused grin plastered on his face. Liz immediately turned the music off, giving her boyfriend an innocent look.
Β Β Β "What are you doing here?" Liz questioned, face tinting red from embarrassment.
Β Β Β "I was just checking in like I always do until Danny returns home, but it seems I have amazing timing."
Β Β Liz let out an innocent chuckle. "I was just taking a break."
Β Β "Uh huh, and how many breaks would this make?"
Β Β Liz blinked once and then twice. "Uhh... I plead the fifth."
Β Β "You're not on trial." Jasper informed with a chuckle. "What problem are you stuck on?"
Β Β He knew her too well.
Β Β "It doesn't matter." Liz shrugged off, walking over towards her boyfriend. "The test is tomorrow and I feel semi-confident about everything else."
Β Β Jasper reached out and grabbed her hand, pulling her forward, Liz placing a hand on his chest and grinning up at him. "Only semi-confident? You've been preparing for this math final for three weeks. You've taken plenty of practice tests and Emmett says you are more prepared for this test than anyone. You should breeze through it tomorrow."
Β Β Liz scoffed. "Have you met me? I will spend most of the time second guessing my answers and I will be lucky if the extra time they've given me will be enough."
Β Β Β Jasper placed both his hands to the side of her face, his golden eyes staring deep into her bright blues in such an intimate gesture that caused the eighteen year old to go weak in the knees. It took everything to keep herself upright, her heart pounding from the proximity, like it is the first time he has held her this close. Every touch, every kiss, every heartwarming gesture feels like the first, always causing Liz to swoon like something out of a regency book.
Β Β "Well, let me tell you something, Liz Chambers. I have the highest confidence that you are going to pass this test with the highest score you've ever received in your life and you will be walking that stage looking incredibly beautiful come graduation day."
Β Β Β Liz closed her eyes and let out a soft breath as he brought her forwards and kissed her temple. She then wrapped her arms around his torso and rested her head against his chest, his own arms pulling her in comfortably. "Do you really think I'm going to pass tomorrow?"
Β Β "Yes. Because I believe in you. You just need to believe in yourself."
Β Β Liz huffed. "Now you are starting to sound like Emmett."
Β Β Β "Well, Emmett is wiser than most give him credit for."
Β Β Β Liz couldn't argue with that. She just held him tighter, loving the feeling of being in Jasper's arms. These past few weeks since his return and her decision to forgive him and give him a second chance have been magical. Jasper has kept to his word and has never let her go a day without knowing how truly sorry he was for leaving her.
Β Β At first, they started off slow, Jasper did not want to overwhelm her by being with her 24 hours a day, but with Victoria still on the loose and given Liz's last encounter with her, Jasper was never too far. And he normally kept his distance when Liz is with Danny, seeing as how Jasper put his distaste for the wolves to the side given the fact that he knows Danny will be able to protect her.
Β Β At first Liz appreciated the space, but after the first week and a half since they patched things up, Liz has slowly been letting her guard down and falling back into how things used to be. Well, not exactly how things used to be. Honestly, Jasper was determined to do things differently. Meaning he is away hunting more than usual, even when he isn't that hungry, he makes sure he is fed so he doesn't have to hold back with her. Liz had told him repeatedly that he does not have to do that for her, but of course Jasper says he is doing it for himself. Being with her, kissing her and holding her for long periods of time, it was all worth it to be able to do all this with her. But thankfully, he never pushed himself.
Β Β Jasper also has been making an effort to get to know her friends. None of them were very welcoming at first, especially Angela, because of how badly he had hurt her, but they've been warming up to the idea of him being around again. He even sits with them at lunch, close to Liz's side and even Alice joins them. When Liz assured Angela that she wanted to give him another chance and all the wonderful things he is doing to earn back her heart, she had become more accepting. So much so, Angela openly talked to him about her mother's condition, to which Jasper was the perfect gentleman he was and offered his sympathies.
Β Β The two were interrupted from their comforting embrace by the sound of her phone vibrating in her pocket. Dropping her arms from his torso, Liz dug through her pants pocket and opened her text, chuckling at the message. "It's Nolan with a check in. Said if I'm not studying, he's going to return my graduation present."
Β Β Liz sent him a quick reply before looking back up at Jasper, who was oddly silent. Liz raised her brows at the strange look on his face. "What?"
Β Β "Nothing," Jasper assured, shaking his head. "Which one is Nolan again?"
Β Β Liz rolled her eyes. "Oh stop it. You know exactly who he is."
Β Β "Well you did make a lot of guy friends, hard to keep track of who's who."
Β Β "A bunch? Try two."
Β Β "Two more than you originally had." Jasper mutters, looking down.
Β Β Liz can't help but chuckle, seeing as this is not the first time she has talked to him about this and still finds it funny. "Sounds like you're jealous."
Β Β "Do I have any reason to be jealous?"
Β Β This strange insecurity was wild. The only thing Jasper is insecure about is his control around humans and his past, but he was getting more and more confident with both every single day. Seeing Jasper jealous was new, something Liz had never anticipated or expected. Liz has never seen Jasper jealous before because all her guy friends were Mike, Eric and Tyler, so he knew they weren't any threat, despite Mike's previous crush on her. As for Paul, well the two have only just rekindled their friendship, but it wasn't like it was before, and Jasper knew it will always be a brother/sister relationship.
Β Β Now he is having a hard time getting on board with Mitch and Nolan, which Liz can't help but find hilarious because she does not like Nolan like that and she is not Mitch's type. But despite that information, Jasper has still been having a bit of a hard time wrapping his head around the idea of them.
Β Β "Of course not." Liz assures him with a grin.
Β Β "Then I'm not jealous." Jasper stated, though it was extremely clear in his voice that he was.
Β Β Liz giggled. "You are totally jealous."
Β Β "Do not tease me about this." Jasper said, though his own smile was softly forming.
Β Β "I'm not teasing. It's adorable, actually." Liz leaned in and pressed a gentle peck on his lips before pulling back. "Besides, I told you I built a village when you left. Nolan and Mitch helped me a lot when you were gone, especially Mitch. You don't have anything to worry about with them. Nolan is a great friend, and Mitch has expressed to me many, many times how hot he thinks Emmett is. It's actually becoming quite annoying, honestly."
Β Β Jasper raised his brows at that. "Is Emmett aware of this?"
Β Β "Oh yeah. Mitch is a shameless flirt and did not hide it upon meeting Emmett. If you vampires could blush, Emmett would have been red as a tomato."
Β Β "I would love to be there when Rose finds out."
Β Β "Me too."
Β Β Jasper smiled softly before leaning in and connecting their lips once more. This whole kissing frequently was still something Liz was still trying to get used to, but she didn't mind it one bit. He seemed to have better control, though their make out sessions never lasted for long, not that she really cared. Hell, she didn't mind only kissing on occasions before, because she knew he felt uncomfortable and she never wanted him to feel that way. In the beginning, whenever she would try to pull away after a couple seconds, he would only lock her in place by grabbing her waist, deepening the kiss that made her melt from the inside out.
Β Β It was definitely a nice change.
Β Β Breaking apart, Jasper rested his forehead against hers. "I have to go. I hear Ester's car down the road."
Β Β To say Liz was surprised would be an understatement. "Wow, she's home early. That's different."
Β Β "Any chance of you two speaking tonight?"
Β Β Liz pulled away and let out an exaggerated sigh. The last time Liz spoke to her older sister was the day she had returned from Italy after leaving abruptly and Ester simply claimed that she was glad she wasn't dead. Since then, the two Chambers sisters have not spoken since. Liz has tried, on plenty of occasions, but after a week, she had given up. And when Ester learned from her husband that Liz had gotten back together with Jasper, Ester had stormed out of the house and did not return for two days, having gone to stay with Emily in some tantram.
Β Β Liz had little to no interest in trying to talk to someone who was acting like a spoiled little brat. All she knows is when it does happen, when they finally speak to each other again, it's not going to be pretty.
Β Β "Well first she has to acknowledge my existence again. Once that happens, I'm sure a much needed fight will follow."
Β Β Jasper caresses her cheek with the back of his fingers, smiling down at her. "I still think you should confront her. You need to get it off your chest. You've been holding all of it in for so long."
Β Β Liz knew he was right, but shook her head anyway. "No, not tonight. I need to focus on this final tomorrow. That's all I want to worry about right now."
Β Β Jasper simply nodded in understanding. "I'll stay close until Danny comes home."
Β Β Liz nodded and smiled as he brought her in for one more kiss, before disappearing quickly just as the headlights flashed through the window. Sighing, Liz went back to the table where all her work awaits her just as a text came through. Looking down at her phone, she saw a new text from Jasper.
Β Β Β I believe in you, Liz Chambers.
Β Β Her heart skipped a beat. He always did know how to make her feel like she could do just about anything.
Β Β The front door opened and closed just as she was cleaning up her mess, and when she looked up, she saw her older sister in her waitress uniform taking off her jacket, before walking past Liz, not even sparing her a glance and went straight into her bedroom without so much as a hello. Liz bit down on her tongue, hard and tried to push past the boiling anger inside her, which was very close to exploding...
Β Β It was only an amount of time before the much needed confrontation she has tried so hard to push away since landing back in Forks last year exploded out of her. Tonight may not be that night, but she doesn't know just how much longer she can take it.

Β Β Β πππ ππππππππππππ πππππππ πππ and the Cullens had been pretty easy to rekindle after the talk she had with Jasper. Granted, in the beginning, she was still very upset with them, but seeing as she was willing to give Jasper a second chance and learning that they all were easily as manipulated and guilted into leaving as Jasper was by someone they trusted dearly; it was worth hearing them out.
Β Β Β Liz made up with Esme and Alice pretty quickly. They both sat her down together and expressed their apologies, hoping she can find it in her heart to forgive them. Of course Liz forgave them immediately, it was Esme and Alice. After hearing how Alice looked after Jasper, how she had saved him on more than one occasion, a part of Liz felt like she owed the beautiful short vampire something. Especially since Alice had saved both her and Bella in Volterra with her vision.
Β Β And Esme reminded Liz too much of her own mother, making it impossible to even be mad at the woman. Liz knew for a fact that if she was still alive, they would probably be good friends. They both just had gentle souls and so much love to offer to anyone. It was hard not to forgive her instantly.
Β Β Liz had been pulled into a room by Carlisle, who expressed his regrets of what had occurred. He claims that even though it was Edward's idea, he didn't fight against the idea. That he felt that Edward's reasoning had been right. Carlisle explained how all he wants is to protect his family, and how both Liz and Bella had become members of their family, he did not want any harm to come to them and he figured leaving was truly the best option for both of them. Though it was hard, Liz did understand why he thought leaving was a good idea.
Β Β Does she wish he would have stepped up and not let Edward manipulate the others who clearly did not want to leave? Yes. But his apology was sincere and she forgave him anyway, not having it in her to remain angry at him as well.
Β Β As for Rosalie... well, there wasn't really much to forgive. The two have never been close, given how Rosalie hated the idea of her brothers dating two humans, bringing them into their world. But what has surprised Liz is after learning of Edward's deception, she has been a bit nicer towards Liz. She even personally apologized on behalf of her brother, seeing as she had been witness to Jasper's downfall after leaving her and how broken he was without his mate. She even thanked her again for risking her life to go save Edward, which had been a bit more personal than her first apology. Liz had taken it to heart, seeing as the last time Rosalie had thanked her, they had just returned from Italy and she was still so angry at all of them.
Β Β And as for Edward... actually, to be honest, Liz doesn't give two flying fucks about him. He's pretty much non-existent in her mind. He lives in the Cullen's house and is Bella's boyfriend, but he is nothing to her and even Jasper, for that matter. He knows to keep his distance from the bother of them and thankfully Bella understands and respects Liz's wishes not to want anything to do with Edward, so they are able to still be friends though Bella had forgiven him. Which Liz does not hold against her in the slightest. She just became friends with Bella again and is glad the two are not going to let this divide them again. Though their relationship is still a bit rocky.
Β Β Β The one person who she had trouble forgiving was someone who had become her best friend in such a short amount of time. The person who saved her life from the Highway 19 accident and who has helped her in more ways than one. Forgiving Emmett wasn't like forgiving the others or even Jasper. The others were quite easy, but Jasper was the hardest. Emmett... well, it was another Paul situation. Granted, Liz did not know Emmett for nearly as long as Paul. Sure they didn't grow up together or anything... but at least Paul had the decency to tell her to her face that they could no longer be friends, even if she remained in denial in the beginning.
Β Β Emmett didn't even bother to say goodbye. He was just gone.
Β Β It was really hard for Liz to get over that. Whenever the two were in the same room, Emmett would attempt to talk to her, but would chicken out and walk out of the room. It definitely did not help matters. Jasper had even expressed to Liz that Emmett wanted to talk to her, but he thinks she hates him and is afraid of facing her. Whenever she would come over, he would excuse himself and go hide in his room.
Β Β After finally growing tired of him avoiding her after returning home from school, Liz abruptly leaves her house, making sure to grab a certain piece of item and drives to the Cullens house unexpectedly. Jasper had been waiting for her outside when she pulled up, having heard her bike coming, and his eyes had widened like saucers when she pulled a metal baseball bat out from her strap. She didn't even acknowledge him, or any of the others as she stormed into the house, checking the main rooms before coming to the conclusion he was in his bedroom.
Β Β Β Upon reaching his room, Liz slammed the door open, causing the large vampire to turn in a bit of surprise. Rosalie had been in the room as well, but she was just sitting at the window seat reading, and when she saw the spitfire human with wild crazy eyes and a baseball bat in her hands, she couldn't help but giggle in amusement, knowing what was about to go down.
Β Β Liz's focus was only on her best friend, who was trying to figure out what was going on, and was taken back as she pointed the tip of the bat at him.
Β Β "You have two choices. Either be a man and talk to me, or you let me take as many swings as I'd like to your big ass head until all the anger is out of my system."
Β Β Emmett had been stunned. "What?"
Β Β Β "Jasper wasn't the only one who broke my heart, you idiot. You are my best fucking friend and I love you. But you left me without so much as a goodbye. You abandoned me when I just found you. And I can't stand not being able to talk to you and us avoiding each other. I lost one best friend, I really do not want to lose another." Liz remembers her voice nearly breaking, but she held herself together. "Now either you stop being a coward and talk to me, or let me beat you senseless to get it out of my system. Choose."
Β Β Emmett had just stood there, staring at her, completely stunned. Liz didn't even know Rosalie had left the room to give them privacy, she honestly wouldn't have cared if she stayed. But Emmett just stood there for a couple seconds, his expression filled with so much pain that it surprised Liz a bit. After another couple seconds of silence, Emmett simply moved towards his closet and pulled out a small, rectangular box. He had then hesitated for a bit before walking towards Liz, her bat was still raised, and held the box out towards her.
Β Β "Here."
Β Β "What is this?"
Β Β "A box of letters. All addressed to you but never mailed."
Β Β Liz had been shocked, taking the box he had been holding out to her and observed the contents inside. She flipped through them, all of them addressed to her. "There are so many."
Β Β "Twenty-eight to be exact. I wrote to you once every week, and each of them has some half-assed apology mixed in with a bunch of rambling." Emmett paused and Liz had felt her eyes tearing up at the realization. Looking up at Emmett, he was scratching the back of his head awkwardly, not knowing what to say. "I'm not good at apologies. But I am better at them then I am at goodbyes. I didn't want to leave. It wasn't right, but Carlisle agreed with Edward and when Jasper later agreed, I knew I didn't have much of a choice. But I didn't want to say goodbye because I knew if I did, it would have just been harder. Then I felt like a jerk for being such a coward that I started writing you a letter, but hated every single apology because I'm just an idiot who can never get the words out. Plus I knew if I mailed them... I thought it would just make it harder on you."
Β Β Liz watched as Emmett had moved forward, her heart clenching as his next words were from his heart. "I'm sorry, speed racer. I truly am sorry."
Β Β That was all it took for Liz to place the box of letters on the bed and jump up, wrapping her arms around his neck and handing them tightly. Emmett caught her in a massive bear hug and Liz finally felt whole again.
Β Β Liz easily forgave him after that, but on two conditions. The first one being he would have to finish what he started and make sure she passes her math final and the second, he had to let her hit him with the bat over the head at least once just for the hell of it. For some reason, he agreed to both conditions eagerly. Pretty much the whole family had gathered to witness the blow, finding it hilarious that Emmett was allowing the blonde to use his head as a baseball. She gave everything into the swing and though it had no effect on him and even made her hands all tingly and weird, it was so worth it.
Β Β Emmett had kept his promise and had worked her hard to study for this math final. They spent hours after school studying and he would even quiz her with surprise text messages to solve quickly to keep her mind focused. She had help from Nolan as well, and Jasper, but Emmett seemed to have a way of teaching her and keeping her focused that others couldn't.
Β Β Which is why as Liz sat anxiously in her seat in the empty classroom, having finished her test only ten minutes prior and was waiting for Mrs. Greer to finish grading as she promised to do it immediately so Liz could know right away if she was graduating in two and a half weeks, she knew there was a group waiting outside for her.
Β Β And just when Liz thought she was going to lose her mind, Mrs. Greer called her up and the eighteen year old grabbed her bag and nervously made her way up to the front, her hands shaking a bit. Mrs. Greer gave the girl a big, bright smile and handed over the paper. "Congratulations, Miss Chambers."
Β Β Liz let out a gasp as she stared at the number at the top of her page in bright red pen, before letting out a loud cheer, bouncing up and down again. "Ahh! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" Liz then bolted out of the classroom and into the semi-empty hallway, only occupied by all the people who have helped her pass this. She held the paper before her, grinning like a madwoman. "A 94% baby!"
Β Β Everyone erupted into loud cheers as Liz jumped into the arms of her boyfriend, before quickly being stolen by Emmett, then soon she was being passed around by all her friends. They were all there. Mike, Angela, Eric, Jessica, and Bella had stayed after school with Jasper and Alice. Emmett came just before Liz left to take the test and Mitch must have shown up sometime later. She wished Nolan was here, but she honestly can't wait to call him to tell him.
Β Β Everyone was congratulating her, as Liz was pulled to the side, no surprise by Jasper who grinned knowingly. "I told you you could do it. You just had to believe in yourself."
Β Β "Believe in myself? I nearly ran out of that room twice whenever I got to a question that was too hard. I seriously don't know how that happened."
Β Β Jasper cupped her face. "It happened because you worked hard for it and you deserved it. I'm so proud of you."
Β Β Liz let out a shaky breath and looked up at him. "For once, I'm proud of me too."
Β Β And I just know mom and dad would be proud of me too.
