LILLIAN woke up and got ready for school, wearing her loose blue Midtown School of Science & Technology crewneck sweatshirt along with her high-waisted shorts. She put on her Old Skool black and white vans after she put on some socks. She's not one who wears make up because she never has time for it, but she applied some mascara to at least do something. She left her room, making her way to the kitchen where her brother was eating cereal and her mother was making coffee.
"Hi, sweetie." Her mother, Leila, smiled as she poured herself some coffee.
"Hey, mom. How was work last night?" Lillian asked as got herself a bowl to serve herself some cereal.
"Yeah, anything new?" Nathan asked with a mouthful of cocoa puffs.
Leila rolled her eyes in disgust, "Nathan, what did I say about speaking with your mouth full?"
Nathan swallowed his cereal, "Sorry, mom." He apologized giving his mother an apologetic smile.
"There was an armed robbery on 21st street across the Deli-Grocery, Delmar called in saying that Spider-Man was fighting the Avengers in a bank." Leila sipped her coffee, "Tore the bank and Delmar's shop in half."
"Is he alright?" Lillian asked worriedly as she took a bite of her cocoa puffs.
"Yes, he's fine. He's a little shaken up, but Spider-Man saved him so that's good. It's all good." Leila shrugged.
"Do you got a problem with Spider-Man, mom?" Nathan asked as he chuckled, putting his bowl in the sink as he started washing it.
"I don't have a problem with the spider-ling," Leila sighed as she placed her coffee cup on the counter, "I just think that whoever this guy is needs to be more careful. The way he's trying to help- he's just a little reckless."
Lillian placed her finished bowl in the sink, "I think he's doing his best," She shrugged as she washed her bowl, "He did save Mr. Delmar and he also saved those people on that bus a few weeks ago. I think he's got potential and a good heart." She stated.
Nathan snickered, "Looks like someone's gotta crush on Spider-Man."
"I do not. I just-"
"You guys are going to be late for school, let's go. I'll take you." Leila rushed, grabbing her badge, phone, and gun as she motioned her kids to get ready.
Lillian and Nathan grabbed their backpacks as Nathan chuckled, "You got a crush on Spider-Man." He teased as his sister rolled his eyes.
They both left the apartment, following their mother into her black car. Lillian sat in the passenger seat after fighting her brother for the seat which led him to sitting in the back. They drove off to the school after driving past the crime scene from last night.
"Damn, what kind of weapons did they have?" Nathan asked.
"I don't know, hopefully I'll find out soon." Leila said as Lillian stared out the window seeing Peter and Ned looking at the scene.
Once Leila dropped off her kids and said her good-bye's and I love you's, Lillian and Nathan went their separate ways. Lillian made her way to her locker as her friend excitedly ran up to her, startling Lillian half to death.
"Lills, guess what!" Jade beamed cheerfully.
"Jesus-" Lillian said clutching her chest, "What?" She asked trying to regain her breathing.
"There's this guy," Jade paused, "you know Elijah Garrick, right?" She asked.
"The guy in our gym class?" Lillian asked, her eyebrows furrowed as she opened her locker, looking at her best friend.
"Yeah, him." Jade smiled, "Well, anyway... He came up to me yesterday to talk to me about you." She said as her smile widened even more.
Lillian chuckled grabbing her notebook, shutting her locker afterward. "Are you gonna get to the point?" She teased.
"I think he's gonna ask you out for homecoming." Jade geeked.
Lillian forced a chuckle, "I highly doubt that. You sure he wasn't asking you?" She asked as they both started heading to their class.
Jade shook her head as she rolled her eyes, "No. Even if he was, I'd say no." She said as they both sat down in their seats. "What are you gonna say if he does ask you?"
Lillian shrugged, "I dunno. I was kind of hoping someone else was going to ask me, but it's not gonna happen."
Jade gasped, punching Lillian's shoulder in shock. "What? Who?" She asked as the class started.
"I-I can't say." Lillian mumbled.
Jade gasped again, punching Lillian's shoulder once more, "Peter?" Jade whispered in disbelief.
"Okay, ouch! Can you stop using me as a punching bag?" Lillian retorted as she massaged her shoulder, "And yes, Peter. I thought you figured that out already?"
"I mean I assumed, but we didn't talk about it yesterday, remember?" Jade reminded.
"Right... Sorry." Lillian gave her an apologetic smile.
...
IN chemistry class, Lillian walked over to Michelle dropping her backpack on the seat beside her before walking up to Peter. "Hey, I'm gonna sit with MJ today." She told him.
Peter looked at her with confusion written on his face, but nodded nonetheless whilst Ned walked over to sit next to Peter. "Okay." He said.
"Oh, hey Lilly." Ned smiled, waving at her.
"Hey, how did the Lego Death Star go?" She asked catching Peter's attention.
"H-How do you know about the Lego Death Star?" Peter asked taken aback before Ned could speak up.
"Um, I saw Ned with it yesterday." She answered, "It looked really cool, by the way." She complimented.
"Thank you," Ned smiled as his eyes widened once a thought popped in his head, "Do you want to help us build it tonight?" He asked.
"Uh, y-"
"She can't." Peter interrupted.
"Why not?" Ned asked looking at Peter.
"We... got some," Peter paused, "stuff we gotta do." Peter said trying to give Ned a subliminal message.
Lillian nodded slowly, "It's okay, I'm busy anyway." She forced a smile. "Thanks for the offer though, Ned." She said softly as she went to go sit next to Michelle.
"Don't take it personally." Michelle said as she started putting her goggles on.
"What are you talking about?" Lillian's eyebrows furrowed as she put on her goggles as well.
"Peter," Michelle sighs, looking at Lillian.
"Why would I take it personally." Lillian asked as she glanced at Peter before looking at Michelle.
"I don't know you tell me." Michelle said as she started writing down the notes from the board to her notebook.
Lillian sighed as she decided to ignore the whole situation by just focusing on writing down the notes.
...
AFTER lunch and a few classes, Lillian was sat beside Michelle and Jade in gym class as they watched a inspirational 'workout' message from Captain America. "Are you going to talk to Elijah?" Jade asked whispering toward Lillian.
Lillian looked over at Jade as her eyebrows furrowed in disbelief, "Really? We're gonna talk about this right now?" She asked.
"I mean, he's in this class so why not." Jade shrugged as coach Wilson blew the whistle.
Lillian inwardly rolled her eyes, "Do you want to do sit-ups first?" She asked changing the subject.
"Just because you're trying to change the subject doesn't mean I'm gonna let it go," Jade said before sighing, "You go first."
Lillian laid on the floor beginning her set of sit-ups as Jade held onto her calves for better support. "It's obvious that Parker has a thing for Liz, you might as well move on and give Elijah a shot." Jade suggested.
"Seriously?" Lillian asked. "Can we not talk about this right now?" She sighed.
"Why not?" Jade asked, "I'm your person, Lilly. We talk about everything."
"I know that," Lillian sat up for a second as she let out a deep breath, "I just don't want to talk about this here... you know?"
"Peter knows Spider-man!" Ned shouted which caused everyone's attention to turn to him.
"Uh, no. I don't." Peter defended as he got up frantically whilst everyone went back to what they were doing. "No, I-I-I mean-"
"They're friends." Ned explained as Lillian looked at Jade in confusion as she shrugged in response deciding to keep listening.
Flash laughed, "Yeah right. Like coach Wilson and Captain America are friends." He mocked.
"Eugene's got a point." Jade said as Lillian slapped her arm in response. "Sorry." She chuckled as Peter went on about how he met Spider-Man a couple times through the internship.
"Do you think this whole internship is a fake?" Lillian asked as she eyed Peter suspiciously.
Jade shrugged, "I dunno. Shh."
"Hey, you should invite Spider-Man to Liz's party." Flash suggested to Peter.
"Yeah, that would be great. Everyone's invited and it'd be cool if he was there." Liz smiled as Lillian groaned quietly laying back down.
"What's up with you?" Jade asked chuckling a little at her best friend's reaction.
"Nothing." Lillian said covering her face with her hands.
"It's gonna be lit. You should definitely invite your pal, Spider-man." Flash said walking closer to Peter and Liz as Peter seemed hesitant.
"It's okay, I know it's not really Peter's thing." Liz said guilt tripping Peter into going to her party.
"Oh, he'll be there. Right, Parker?" Flash smirked as he walked past him, the bell ringing as if on cue.
Lillian sat up, realizing she only did sit-ups, "You suck." She stood up, helping up Jade.
"What did I do?" Jade asked her eyebrows furrowing.
"You didn't do any sit-ups." Lillian laughed as someone tapped on her shoulder, turning around seeing Elijah.
"Hey." He smiled as Lillian stood there in shock.
Jade nudged her best friend, snapping Lillian back to reality, "H-Hey." She breathed out.
"I don't know if you heard about Liz's party, but I was hoping to see you there." He smiled.
"Oh, I don't-"
"She'll be there." Jade said interrupting her.
Elijah laughed as he nodded, "Okay, cool. I'll see you around, Lilly." He said as he left.
Lillian turned to face Jade, "What are you doing?" She asked in desperation.
"I'm helping you out. He's got a crush on you, Lillian. Might as well take a chance." Jade stated as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
They both left the gym, going to the locker room to change out of their gym uniform. The question that was swarming in Lillian's head at the moment was: should she actually go to Liz's party?
