It was three in the morning when Isabella was woken up by someone knocking on the door,
"Who could that be?" Isabella asked herself as she grabbed a pair of shorts to quickly place on before she walked up to the front door and opened it,
"Charlie it is three in the morning so this best be good," she rubbed her eyes as she sent the boy a glare,
"It's massive so I suggest you get dressed because we need to head to the office." He spoke seriously as he walked into the apartment,
"Just give me a minute," Isabella instantly woke up as she figured out that it had something to do with Kennedy,
"Okay but please hurry." The American asked as he watched the girl run off into her bedroom,
"Shit," the Kiwi mumbled as she grabbed a green jumpsuit which was the first thing that she had been able to grab,
Not caring that it was the thing she wore the day before that.
"Look, I don't talk to you often, but please keep Kennedy safe, he can't die on me now." The last time she called out for god was when her father reached out to her brothers but not her.

After an hour of reading through every single document whilst chugging many cups of coffee,
They couldn't find anything to help them,
Which meant that they had to accept the worst fact of all.
"No no no!" Charlie groaned as he shoved a bunch of papers off of the table,
"Charlie," Isabella tried to get him to calm down but it was no use,
"How come we never noticed that clause in the case?" The American asked himself as he sat back down on his seat feeling disappointed,
"It just slipped through I guess." Isabella shrugged knowing that it was something she should have spotted when she studied the case,
"So how exactly does this part work?" The blonde asked realising that she didn't have a clue what happened next,
"What do you mean?" He cocked his head as he wondered what she was going on about,
"How do we tell him he is set to die a week away from tomorrow?" She asked as she messed with the ring that sat on her finger,
"Well usually someone else goes in and tells them that we had failed," he explained as the girl let out a scoff,
"But since this is a case where you are involved, let's go down at seven and tell him," ever since they had the conversation when he caught her at the prison, they seemed to actually get on better and she found out that he was a really nice human when he wanted to be.
"Why don't we go now?" Isabella asked as the boy got up and opened the door,
"Because we aren't able to go before visiting hours start at eight." He explained as the girl nodded,
"So let's head to the nap room and I'll wake you up at seven," Charlie added as the girl nodded not knowing how she was meant to feel.

They finally arrived that the prison and the weather managed to fit the mood perfectly,
It was pouring with rain and it was awfully windy.
"You ready to go in here for what is probably the last time?" Charlie asked as he watched the girl slip into her hoodie,
"Nope," Isabella shook her head as the boy smiled,
"It's going to be weird not having you as my partner anymore," as much as he didn't want to admit it,
But he loved having her passion on these projects.
"Give me four years and then sure." She joked as they walked through the prison block,
"Don't tempt me, Wilson." He threatened as the girl tried to hold in a laugh,
"We are here," the mood instantly went back to upset and cold as they realised what they were set to do.

Charlie invited Isabella to his apartment as he knew she shouldn't be alone the night after hearing the news.
"Here." He handed the girl a cold Heineken beer as she smiled,
"Just don't tell anyone I gave this to you," it was still illegal for her to drink but what else was someone meant to do the night they found out their case has gone against them.
"Thanks," Isabella smiled as she took the drink from the boy,
"Daniel Smith," Charlie blurted out as the girl got confused,
"Are we just calling out names right now?" The blonde asked as the boy shook his head,
"No that was the name of the first guy whose case I was assigned to who ended up staying on death row." He explained as the girl stayed quiet,
"I told you about this because it's is something you need to hear in this situation." When he went through losing someone his mentor told him about his story about losing someone and it really helped to be able to listen to someone.
"Thank you," the kiwi smiled as she looked up to the boy.
