Chapter XXIII
A bright light blinded Hasumi for a moment, the young boy whining a bit at the light. He slowly opened his eyes, allowing them to adjust to it's surroundings. At first, he was confused as to where he even was. Looking around groggily, he noticed he was in a hospital bed. Had his battle with Toga really required him to go to the hospital? Well, he had lost blood. In the bed next to him was Shimazaki who was still asleep, several bandages covering him.
As his eyes adjusted more, he noticed that Bakugou and Kirishima were with him, Kirishima asleep with his head in the bed while Bakugou watched over the two. And there was a girl with them. Was she another bakugou? By the blond hair and red eyes, Hasumi assumed so. It was then that Bakugou noticed Hasumi was awake and stood up, going over to his non biological nephew.
"Oi, Hasumi. You alright? You lost a good amount of blood. We were going to take you to Recovery Girl but it wasn't something she could exactly fix so that's we had to the hospital. She did activate your body's natural healing system though so you and Shimazaki have been out for about a day," Bakugou explains, glancing back at his son before looking back at Hasumi.
"Y-Yeah, I'm alright. Just a little sore. Is everyone else okay? Is Shimazaki okay?" Hasumi asks, going to sit up but Bakugou gently pushed him back down.
"Oi, rest up. You took a pretty good beating. Gotta say though, you handled the situation well. But don't be stupid next time. You can't always take a villain in your own. If you had backup, you wouldn't be here," Bakugou scolded, crossing his arms over his chest.
"I know, but, I-I didn't want Yahiro and Edano hurt!" Hasumi weakly defended, looking down a bit to avoid the explosive male's gaze.
"Tch, you're just like Deku. Your selflessness is going to get you killed one of these days," Bakugou says firmly before he saw Izuku and Shoto appear at the doorway.
"Hasumi! Thank god you're alright!" Izuku exclaims quietly as to not wake Shimazaki and Kirishima, quickly hugging the young boy as tears began to fall down his face once more. "Are you okay? Does anything hurt? What happened?"
"Midoriya, he just woke up. Allow him to have space to breathe," Shoto says calmly as Izuku releases Hasumi with an embarrassed chuckle.
"I'm okay, Papa! Just a bit sore. And I tried to defeat the villain, Toga! But, she was a lot more skilled than me," Hasumi explains, a small ashamed frown dawning his face.
Izuku looked at his son worriedly before he looked at Shoto, who's expression stayed neutral but Izuku could see concern cloud his eyes. Hasumi tensed a little bit, thinking he had done wrong or that they were upset with him. But after a moment or so, Izuku spoke.
"Well, that explains the blood lose and all of your cuts. But hey, we're proud of you! You still tried! And we saw that you had gotten the other villains in the area which was great!" Izuku exclaims with a smile, ruffling the younger boy's hair.
"Papa, my hair!" Hasumi giggled, playfully swatting away his father's hand. "I'm glad I made you proud! I like making you proud!"
"You've always made us proud, Hasumi. I know one day you'll become a great hero. Even greater than we are," Shoto chimes in, giving his son a gentle smile. "Also, your father and I have a surprise for you."
"Shoto, we can't tell him now!" Izuku exclaims, this only making Hasumi more curious.
What was the surprise? And why couldn't they tell him? Well, probably because it was a surprise. But, he was really curious. Shoto noticed this and couldn't help but chuckle a bit. He leaned forward and whispered something to Izuku which made the pro hum before he sighs and nods.
"Alright, alright! We can tell him!" Izuku says, much to Hasumi's excitement. "Well, we want to make sure that we can always make sure you're safe so this doesn't happen again!"
"So, this year, you are going to be stuck with us as you're English teacher and modern hero Arts teacher," Shoto explains, causing Hasumi to go wide eyed.
He didn't know why but Hasumi felt like crying right now. He was so happy to be able to be seeing his parents during the day. It was such a small surprise and yet it meant so much to him. Hasumi saw the visible confusion on both his parents faces as he sniffles, tears beginning to fall down his cheeks.
"H-Hasumi!? Why are you crying!?" Izuku asked worriedly.
"I'm just so happy I get to see you two more!"
