Two Part Story
(Part 1)

"Wow Jonghyun...look at Y/N today...she's beautiful..." one guy swooned to his friend who nodded whimsically, both enraptured by how flawlessly you were explaining the answers of the previous exam to your other classmate.

"Honestly though..." he sighed. "...Brains, brawns and beauty, the perfect combination of an angel...but you know she doesn't get close to anyone...nobody gets through her shell, dude..."

The two guys sighed defeatedly and went back to working on their assignment.

All of a sudden, someone accidentally bumped into Jonghyun, which as a result made his hand slip, tearing his paper in the process.

"Oi! Watch it!" He hissed and the other man looked down nervously.

"Ah...I'm sorry! It was an accident!" He apologized but Jonghyun just sneered. "What, you think an apology will fix this? I worked all week for this paper and you ruined it. How are you going to take responsibility for it?" He growled and the man stammered in panic.

Jonghyun eyed the guy in disdain. The guy's glasses were sitting crookedly on his face and his bangs hid most of his forehead.

Although it was warm and everyone was dressed in the summer uniform, this dude was covered up in his winter one, which was also a size too big, making it sit awkwardly on his figure.

Jonghyun didn't recognize the guy and that's when he realized, this was that new student who moved into their class the other day.

Jonghyun scoffed. This new kid was just your typical nerd. "You know what? You can just give me your assignment and I'll let all of this go" he smirked and the guy paled, unsure of what to do next.

Suddenly Jonghyun felt a tap on his shoulder and he scowled while turning around. "What do you wan-?" and he abruptly cut himself off when he realized you were smiling down at him.

"Y-Y/N...w-what's up?" He stammered and you smiled lopsidedly while strategically placing yourself between him and the guy he was harassing.

"Oh? I just overheard you talking with Hoseok here..." you began and the man, Hoseok, looked up in surprise.

"She knows my name?" He thought in bewilderment because none of the other classmates bothered to remember, but then he held back a laugh when you shot him a secretive wink.

Ah, so she was here to save the day...if only these people knew who he really was though.

"Y-yeah we were just having a quick chat since he messed up my work..." Jonghyun responded nervously and you coo'd while placing your hands together, seeing his torn paper from the corner of your eyes.

"Oh! I bet you were being a great guy and in the middle of forgiving him for accidentally shoving you right?" You egged on. "...I mean, there's no way someone like you would do make Hoseok pay for what he did!" You laughed loudly and Jonghyun gulped, unable to find his way out of this situation.

"Right...of course, uhm yeah. Hoseok, listen man, don't worry about everything! We're all good!" He quickly spoke up and turned away, making Hobi blink, wondering just what the hell had happened.

He felt you grab his hand and lead you outside the classroom and hesitated only for a moment before allowing you to drag him out, you did, after all, save his ass.

The moment you two were outside the door however, you dropped your act and gave him a mini glare. "You! Why're you letting those assholes push you around like that?" You hissed and Hoseok swore he had never been more caught off guard than at that moment.

Wait, where was the angel that had saved him?

He realized something and gasped. "How did you know my name?" He questioned suspiciously and you raised one brow.

"I know everyone who moves into our school but that's besides the point..." you explained and he mentally let out a sigh of relief. So he wasn't caught just yet.

"Why do you look like this?" You interrogated while gesturing to his figure and he only stared back blankly.

You frowned but then broke out into laughter when you realized that he didn't know what you meant. "What? You think I'd actually fall for your disguise? That's a bit of a low blow Hoseok" you huffed and he blinked, still lost at where this conversation was heading.

You sighed and brought your phone out, scrolling through your photos until you found just what you were looking for. You turned the screen towards him.

Hobi immediately choked on air and his eyes grew wider, if that was possible. "T-that's?!" He stuttered in disbelief and you smiled smugly.

The photo on your phone was taken during his last dance battle...but not just an ordinary dance battle...the biggest underground event that he had won under his alias...

You nodded, shooting him a feral smile. "That's right Jung Hoseok, or should I say Jhope?" You asked cheekily and Hobi's eye twitched. You knew his stage name which meant...

No fucking way....he had done everything he could to make sure nobody would recognize him in this school. He even wore the thickest frames he could find and clothes that were practically shapeless.

He looked completely different from the photo. In the picture, his hair was gelled up so that his forehead showed, he had different clothes that were more of his style and his tattoo, which he was currently covering up with his uniform, was openly flaunted as well.

So how on earth did you recognize him under all that and...

He eyed you up and down carefully, taking note of how differently you carried yourself now that you were out of the limelight.

...which side of you was the real Y/N? The kind girl who had sided with the 'nerd' or this supposedly outspoken one who had practically blown his cover?

He felt a headache brewing.

"Y/N! There you are!" One of the girls in the class called out and Hoseok watched, as your eyes widened slightly before you plastered a polite smile and turned around.

"Oh? Hana-ssi! What's up?" You approached her and headed back inside the classroom but not before shooting Hobi one last look.

The moment you disappeared Hoseok slumped against the wall. Just like him, you were also hiding a secret...

...he was going to find out just what it is that you were hiding.

————————————————

It had been weeks. Weeks since he promised he'd you figure out but so far he hadn't found anything.

The only thing he had heard from the other classmates was that you had moved to this school a year ago and had made quite a name for yourself already.

Everyone looked up to you but none could ever come close to saying they were your friend. You were kind, but you kept people at arms length; sweet, but guarded.

And that confused Hoseok because you weren't like that with him...

Hobi knew for sure that this person you were at school wasn't who you really were but for christ's sake, he just couldn't figure out why.

He shoved his school bag in the locker room and lifted his uniform over his head, replacing it with his tank top and zip up hoodie along with his sweats.

After slamming the locker shut, he removed his glasses and tossed it into his bag and then messed his hair up. He glanced at the mirror and let out a breath of relief, happy with how he looked now.

Finally, he could be himself.

He smirked and then headed out to the backstage for the upcoming battle tonight.

Your smiling face lingered in his minds even as he performed.

————————————————

"So why do you go out of your way to disguise yourself?" You casually asked while biting into your ice cream cone and Hoseok watched you cautiously while adjusting his glasses.

He had been walking back home and stopped by the convenience store when he bumped into you, and it was at that moment he knew that the world was truly messing with him.

Of course the one night he couldn't get you out of his mind would be the same night where he crashed into you in a random convenience store.

What were the odds honestly... he didn't know why his heart thrummed happily nor did he want to know. One thing he knew for sure though was that you were going to stick by his side and tag along even after he finished grabbing what he needed.

And he had been right because the two of you were now casually walking in the direction of his house.

"...well why don't you let people get close to you? We both know what you're really like" He shot back and you bursted out into laughter while wiping away the fake tears from your eyes.

You smiled wryly on the inside, knowing that the only reason why you were coming out of your shell was because of him again...

You shot him a mischievous look instead and raised a finger to your lips in a shushing motion. "...I guess you'll have to figure that out yourself Hobi" you retorted smartly and he felt his heart skip at your smile.

It was official, he was going insane.

He quickly looked away and cleared his throat. "W-who would want to do that..." he muttered back stubbornly and you only responded with more chuckles and a side shrug.

Hobi slowed down to a stop once he was in front of his house and he glanced at you unsurely, not knowing whether or not he should invite you in.

You smirked, knowing he was torn between being a gentleman and asking if you'd like to come in, or just letting you off on your own, so you made it easier for him. "Well? Aren't you going to invite me inside?" You asked jokingly and Hobi rolled his eyes.

"I guess that was the answer to that..." he thought dryly.

He cleared his throat while shooting you an unamused look. "As I was just about to ask, do you want to come in?...I live with a friend but I'm sure he won't mind if you stay for a bit" he offered awkwardly and you beamed happily, heading straight for his door.

"Don't mind if I do!" You chirped up, making Hobi give out a stressful sigh but he followed behind you regardless, a small smile tugging at his lips.

————————————————

"Yah, Namjoon, I have a friend over so make sure you're wearing clothes!" Hobi screamed from the entrance and you stiffened, freezing in place from where you were removing your shoes.

"You have friends? And shut up! I'm always decent!" A voice called back out.

Namjoon??

Your eyes widened. "Oh shit!" You thought in worry but quickly shook your head. What were the chances of it being the same Namjoon you knew...

It couldn't possibly be, but with how everything has been turning out as of the late, it made sense that Hobi knew Namjoon, especially since they were both underground performers...

Just how small was the world if you would end up crashing into Kim Namjoon of all people...

How the hell did Hoseok know him close enough to be rooming with him anyways?

Dammit you could worry about that later. Right now you had to get out of here and fast as well. You weren't going to take your chances even if it ended up being a different person.

"Uh Hoseok, sorry I just remembered that I needed to pick something up before I went home and the place is going to be closing soon" you said in a hurry and Hobi shot you a weirded out look.

"Huh? But weren't you the one who basically insisted that I invite you in?..." he asked slowly and you laughed.

"Yeah, I know but it completely slipped my mind and I really need to get it today!" You said with a nervous chuckle and Hobi narrowed his eyes in suspicion.

This was the first time he's seen you this flustered...it was a sudden 180 to your usually playful mood.

Now it was almost like you were panicking...but about what?

"Yup! So I'm heading off!" You quickly turned but Hobi grabbed your wrist and your breath hitched because of how warm his hands were.

"...let me walk you home?" He offered quietly and you gulped but shook your head, shooting a worried glance to the corridor where you were quickly hearing footsteps approach.

"I-it's fine Hobi. I'll see you tomorrow okay?" You removed your wrist from his hold and he remained silent as he studied you carefully.

You grabbed the doorknob and were just about to leave.

"Yah, what are you still doing out here. Come inside already" Namjoon called out with a huff and Hobi laughed brightly.

You cursed under your breath...now that he was nearer you recognized that voice. It was definitely him.

"Not tonight Joon. My friend was just heading back out but at least you caught her in time before she disappeared" he chuckled, waiting for you to introduce yourself and you shut your eyes while holding back a groan. God dammit. You were so close.

If you didn't turn around, that would just make things worse so you just cursed fate and slowly turned back, hearing a sharp intake from the man standing behind Hobi.

"Y-Y/N??" He stuttered in shock, eyes flashing with a flurry of emotions and Hobi furrowed his brows confusedly as he looked back and forth between you and Joon.

"Wait what? You two know each other?" He muttered and you pulled up an awkward smile.

"Hey there Monnie..." you said weakly while biting your lip and Joon looked like he was about to choke on air.

"You! Where have you been! How could you disappear on me like that!" He shouted accusatorily and you cringed.

It was going to be a long night indeed...

————————————————

You were sitting on the kitchen counter while Joon stood by you with a scowl, his arms crossed against his chest.

Hobi for once didn't have a bright smile on his face. He could sense the thick tension in the room so he quietly excused himself, saying that he was going to change and left the two of you alone for a couple of minutes.

You sighed and finally looked at Joon in the eye.

"Long time no see...partner" you greeted with a nostalgic smile and Namjoon's breath hitched.

It had been a year since you disappeared from the rap scene...Joon understood why you left but that didn't mean he didn't miss you.

The one thing that bothered him the most was that you left with no way for him to contact you, even when you promised you'd keep in touch...

After he had finally come to terms that you had left for good...he had buried himself in his music, and by chance met another rapper, Yoongi. The two had started working together with a producer named Bang Sihyuk...it was different this time, and it was also the reason why he was living with Hobi at the moment...

He truly wished that you stayed and saw how it was possible to recover from what happened to you two...

Everything was honestly great now but he did miss the music he had made with you in the past because it was the reason why his passion grew to where it was today. That was why he was hurt when you left with no trace.

...and now as fates would have it, you two had been reunited

Joon shot a look to the room in the back and furrowed his brows. "Does Hoseok?..." he trailed off.

You shook your head. "No he doesn't know...and you're not going to tell him" you said, leaving no room for arguments.

Namjoon opened his mouth to protest but you cut him off with a small glare.

"I'm not going to hide it from him forever so let me do it on my terms okay? You know why I left that scene and what I'm willing to do to keep that in the past..." you gulped, the memories making it difficult for you to speak.

Your eyes softened and you lowered your voice to a whisper, in an apologetic tone. "...look, I never wanted to disappear on you like that Monnie and I know you don't understand why, but I really had no choice..." you murmured guiltily and Joon clenched his fists.

But that was the thing. He did know. He knew all about it and that was why he couldn't stay angry at you.

To him, you were the bravest person he ever had the pleasure of calling his friend.

His body relaxed. The past was in the past and there was nothing he could do to change it now, so he let out a weary sigh while shooting you a weak smile. "Fine...but at least this time around don't think you can get rid of me that easily" he promised and you chuckled.

"Deal" you nodded and Joon contemplated about something for a moment before turning to you. "...you know it's kind of funny...Didn't we watch Hobi that one time in-"

He stopped talking once his friend came back into the room. Hobi glanced at you two for a moment but when he realized the tension was gone, he broke out into a pleased smile.

You on the other hand, couldn't handle how rugged he looked, now that he was out of his disguise and you gulped. You had seen him like this before but that had been when you and Joon were still working together and always from a distance, never this close...except that one time months ago...

Joon discreetly smacked you on the back and you jerked, snapping out of your thoughts. He shot you an amused smirk and turned to Hobi.

"I'll leave you two to talk now" he said meaningfully and turned to you for a second, eyes flashing with intrigue. "Ask Hobi to give you my number later okay?"

You nodded and he left the room.

————————————————

Hobi inwardly scowled, unsure of why he was so bothered by how close you and Namjoon were...it was probably because Joon seemed to know something about you that he didn't.

That had to be it.

He cleared his throat and your eyes snapped towards him in a lazy smile. "What's up?" You asked but deep down you knew you couldn't keep this pretense up anymore...you wanted to tell Hobi everything.

...and that included what he had indirectly done to save you from your demons...

Hobi looked away embarrassedly. "So...how do you and Joon, you know, uhm know each other?" He asked straightforwardly and you chuckled while waggling your brows, making him scowl.

You couldn't help it though, Hobi was so easy to tease and his reactions were so pure. It was unlike the other people who worked underground and honestly it was what gave you hope that things would be better...not corrupt like it had been while you were still there.

You took in a deep breath. "Yeah...he deserves to know" you thought, making up your mind, and you faced him.

You patted the countertop next to you and gestured him to take a seat. "It's a long story so you probably don't want to be standing while I tell it"
