There is always a scapegoat.

We are terrified of taking the fall and therefore blame others. But why? Everyone makes mistakes so why do we fear transparency in our crimes? Is it because we fear being ostracised or is it because we fear punishment?

There is no integrity either way. 

A mistake is something we learn from - it's natural consequences are punishment enough. We should embrace our mistakes and move on, not apply a mask and try to cover up a part of who we are.
