038. ❛ one hell of a night. ❜
_______
Natalia was already so nervous for her father, also add on the stress of being even nominated for a Academy Award this year for her work in Spotlight had her trembling. She hoped that she wouldn't have the same fate as her father as to never winning, but winning the first time is something remarkable and rare. Although she was happy that she had Chris alongside her on the red carpet and in the theater to keep her calm. Even though her family was there, she couldn't deny that it felt nice to have him there with her on such a big night for her family.
She knew she was running a bit behind schedule since her father was already ready, and only her and Kiara were the only ones left to get ready. Feeling rushed, she did the best she could with her hair leaving it with small curls at the end. Natalia grabbed her clutch and went downstairs to meet with her father and Jenna who had the limo out front. She wasn't really surprised to see Chris waiting alongside her family since they said they would meet at the Oscars, but in the mind that is Chris Evans you have to be a gentleman to your lady.
"You look beautiful," he whispered as he snaked his arm around her waist while she pressed a small kiss to his lips that lasted a lot longer than expected. Her hands rested on his chest as they trailed up to around his neck and his hands were planted around her waist.
"Father eyes are watching and let's try to keep it PG." Her father said as Natalia blushed heavily and hid her face in Chris's shoulder before he led her to limo.
"Is that how your father acts with all your boyfriends?" Chris asked as he helped Natalia into the limo.
"Don't know, you're the first one I've ever brought home." She said as Chris widened his eyes, taking his place next to Natalia. If the pressure wasn't on Chris before, it's certainly is now. Noticing his shaking leg, she rested her hand on his beard. "You're perfect. My dad likes to play that card, if anything he really likes you. That's what he told me in secrecy."
"I hope so." Chris said wrapping his arm around Natalia, bringing her closer to him. "How are you doing? Tonight's a big night."
"Don't remind me. Like I said before my offer still stands with the sexy time thing." She carefully said leaning in towards him. "My dad and I win. Boom! You're getting laid."
"Dear lord," Chris sighed to himself as he released a smile at the end.
Seeing that Isabella was exiting the house, and that everyone would get in the limo, Natalia quickly cupped one of Chris's cheeks and held him in a deep kiss. She could feel his smile against her lips, before she pulled away and wiped the sides of her lips for any smears. Chris licked his lips clean from any of Natalia's lipstick and resumed to drape his arm around her.
Once her father got in the car, that's when all the nerves came back. Leonardo popped a champagne in the car, and careful to not get it on the dresses before uttering, "Alright who's ready for the Oscars?"

Flashing lights everywhere seemed to scare newcomers, but Natalia was always a professional at it since she was little. She was taught to be camera ready. However this time around, she had to adjust to have a man at her side. She didn't mind, it was comforting to know he was there by her side. And she hoped that many more red carpets would be the same.
Interviewers had the opportunity to ask a lot of questions about the DiCaprio's big night. Natalia navigated towards the regular celebrity news sources she's always conversed with.
"It's nice to see you again, Natalia." Joselyn smiled. "And that dress just blows me away."
"You're too kind." She blushed at her comments. Anytime anyone would compliment her, she would return it with a small notion.
"Tonight's the night. You're dad might be winning his first Oscar, you're nominated for your first. Tell me how you're feeling."
"Madness. When I was first called to hear the news that I was nominated, I bursted into tears. So, it's pretty much the same." Natalia laughed. "But my dad getting to win his first Oscar is pretty emotional. He's been working for such a long time and his role in The Revenant is fascinating. I truly believe that tonight's his night."
"Your godmother is here tonight. Can we expect to see a Jack And Rose scenario tonight?"
Natalia started to look around for her godmother, "Nope, she's really supportive of him. And she's practically family at this point."
"Who are you excited to see tonight?"
"I have to say Matthew McConaughey because who doesn't?" Natalia smirked.
"Speaking of men, you're here with Chris Evans. Is there anything you can share about that?" Joselyn nudged and Natalia felt her stomach flutter for the first time.
"It's nice to be here with him. He's rooting for the whole family, and he's been calming my nerves down. He's so special and I'm proud to be here with him." Natalia smiled.
"You are crazy in love. Thank you so much, and I wish you luck tonight." Joselyn said and Natalia quietly thanked her and went off to do more interviews before ending up on the red carpet again, and doing some photos alone.
She was caught up with her dad, and they got some snaps of that. Also with Jenna and Isabella. As she was walking, she felt a very familiar hand snake around her waist. "Let's go get you an Oscar." Chris hummed in her ear and she was more than excited to be in the theater and get the show started.

The show continued on with Chris Rock hosting the show, and eventful like always since he was such a good host. But the minutes were winding down, and the hour of the moment finally arrived for Natalia' category, Best Supporting Actress. She watched as Mark Ruffalo presented the award and her nervous hand trembled. A hand was placed on top of hers that seemed to calm her down, she just trembled in her leg. She watched as the envelope was unfolded and held her breath as her fellow MCU actor read the name off the paper.
"Natalia DiCaprio!" Mark read out loud and she was taken back. Literally frozen in her place, she didn't know what to do. Her first time nominated and she won. Natalia hugged her family and placed a kiss to Chris's lips before going up, being careful to not trip on the stairs like Jennifer Lawrence.
She hugged Mark and accepted the award before going over to the mic taking a deep breath. "I have to thank the Academy for this award. This is a incredible grateful for this, so thank you." She held up the heavy statue of a man.
"This is incredibly surreal. I feel like I'm about to pass out, which I won't. And now for the more personal thank yous. The amazing cast and director I got to work with everyday, Tom McCarthy, Mark Ruffalo, Rachel McAdams, Michael Keaton, Liev Schreiber, John Slattery, and Stanley Tucci. Working alongside them was truly a blessing. My father who said that that I could achieve the impossible, where there's a will there's a way. To my sisters who are supportive in anything I do. Marcia, my agent, who got me the job to act as a reporter exposing scandals like this. To my partner in crime who's here tonight, thank you for being a shoulder I can lean upon. And for the final thank you, to my mother. Tonight, she's looking down upon me and celebrating, this ones for you." She held up and bowed. "Thank you."

Backstage, she was hugged by various celebrities she's known throughout the years. She was met with her family as she jumped up and down with joy. She literally did and almost ripped her skirts.
Her father cried when he hugged her, she felt the tears running down her back.
"Dad, don't cry. You know how that makes me cry." Natalia hugged her father feeling the tears well up in her eyes. She felt him embrace her even tighter, and she felt like he was losing her breath.
"Now, I'm losing the air I need to breath."
"I'm just so proud of you. Your mother and I are so proud of you." Her father said pushing her hair out of her face and hugging her once more.
Finally, she was greeted by her boyfriend who was instantly taken back by her beauty and gracefulness. "I don't need you to cry as well." She said as she wrapped herself in Chris's arms.
"I'm glad that I can be with you on your big night. I'm just lucky in general because you're the only Oscar I need in my life." Chris said.
She smiled and pressed a kiss to his, enamored with having him at her side. He was special to her, and she didn't want to mess it up. "You're only half way to your end zone." She whispered as she walked ahead with Chris literally trailing behind her groaning.

The last award was her father for Best Actor, and she was pretty sure that all eyes were glued to the presenter hoping that Leonardo DiCaprio would win his first Oscar. She had her fingers crossed as the envelope started to open up, and the presenter smiled before saying, "Leonardo DiCaprio."
Natalia was pretty sure that she was cheering the loudest and placing a kiss on her father's cheek as he went up. Plus, she was sure that Chris was excited as well.
"Thank you all so very much. Thank you to the Academy. Thank you to all of you in this room. I have to congratulate the other incredible nominees this year. The Revenant was the product of the tireless efforts of an unbelievable cast and crew. First off, to my brother in this endeavor, Mr. Tom Hardy. Tom, your talent on screen can only be surpassed by your friendship off screen ... thank you for creating a transcendent cinematic experience. Thank you to everybody at Fox and New Regency ... my entire team. I have to thank everyone from the very onset of my career ... To my parents; none of this would be possible without you. To my family; my daughters who are the constant that keep me going everyday. To my wife; I love you as I always will. And to my friends, I love you dearly; you know who you are. And lastly, I just want to say this: Making The Revenant was about man's relationship to the natural world. A world that we collectively felt in 2015 as the hottest year in recorded history. Our production needed to move to the southern tip of this planet just to be able to find snow. Climate change is real, it is happening right now. It is the most urgent threat facing our entire species, and we need to work collectively together and stop procrastinating. We need to support leaders around the world who do not speak for the big polluters, but who speak for all of humanity, for the indigenous people of the world, for the billions and billions of underprivileged people out there who would be most affected by this. For our children's children, and for those people out there whose voices have been drowned out by the politics of greed. I thank you all for this amazing award tonight. Let us not take this planet for granted. I do not take tonight for granted. Thank you so very much."
