STREETS OF NEW YORK
new york, new york
4pm

after finishing up a long day at work, i made my way down the new york streets, munching on a banana, on my way home.

"jamie!" i heard a voice yell, carrie's.

i swallowed hard, i hadn't spoken to carrie since the argument which was about a week ago. i stopped in my tracks and smiled at carrie. "carrie, hey!"

"i've never realized how much of a hard woman you are to find." carrie exclaimed.

i chuckled. "why? do you need something?" i asked, raising an eyebrow curiously.

carrie suddenly got a sheepish look on her face. "i'm glad you stopped..because i actually have something to say. i'd like to apologize."

i was taken back. clearly. "you want to apologize?" i said with a hint of amusement.

carrie nodded. "i do. you were completely right. i acted like a complete jerk at bobby's wedding and i ended up using your friend and embarrassing both him and you." she said sincerely.

i bit back a smile as she stood before me. "finally! you're apologizing to me." i teased, causing a laugh from her.

"i know, crazy, right?" she said as she looked down. "but i do want to say sorry. and i was wondering if you'd be willing to forgive me?" she asked, her voice laced with guilt.

i looked at her and sighed. "i forgive you, carrie." i said with an amused smile.

relief washed over her as she smiled widely. "thank you, i just couldn't have our friendship end over a stupid argument."

suddenly, a man walked over to us. "give me your bags!"

"it's a baguette." carrie replied as she clutched her baguette.

"let me have it!" he yelled as he pulled out a gun.

my eyes widened as he pulled out the gun. "holy shit." i said quietly as i hesitantly handed over my fendi purse.

carrie followed suit, giving the man her baguette. "your watch and your ring, quick." the man ordered carrie before turning to me. "your necklace."

"is this for real?" carrie asked as she removed her accessories.

"hand them over, let's go." the man demanded.

"jesus christ." i mumbled as i handed him my emerald necklace soon after carrie handed him her items.

"now i want the shoes!" he looked at carrie, "your manolo blahniks."

"what?!" she exclaimed. "no!"

"give me your fucking blahnicks!" he yelled at her before turning his attention towards my boots, "and you, i want those prada boots!"

"please sir, these are my favorite pair!" carrie said as she started to take her sandals off. "i got them half price at a...at a sample sale."

i rolled my eyes, "you expect us to walk around new york city without any shoes? do you understand how crazy that is!"

the man pointed the gun at my head. "give me the boots!" he exclaimed.

i raised my hands defensively. "okay! okay. fine!" i said as i began kicking my boots off.

carrie handed him her shoes just as i did the same.

"thanks." he said before running off.

"i cannot believe we were just mugged." i said as i looked down at my socks.

"and he took my bag that i got as a birthday gift that cost a fortune." carrie said as the two of us were suddenly left on the sidewalk, barefoot and without any of our things.

"this is why i want a car. walking new york streets just isn't safe anymore, i mean these guys aren't after money anymore, they're after fashion." i told her.

"which is worse." carrie said as we were suddenly in the dilemma of the fact that we were now both without our things.

i nodded as i looked at the same scene as her. "new york, love it or hate it."

GRACE CHURCH
new york, new york
2:30pm

sunday afternoon, the girls and i gathered at the grace church to see miranda and charlotte's shared baptism for this babies.

as i walked in, a man called out for me, "hey you! in the black dress! steve tells me that you're brady's godmother."

"i am?" i said, it was news to me.

"i'm the godfather..." the man said with a smirk causing me to let out an awkward chuckle. "steve's second cousin, patrick."

"jamie boyd," i replied as the man attempted to kiss my hand but i snatched it away before he could do so.

"it'd make a great story, you know. little brady brought us together." patrick said.

i shook my head, "i don't follow."

he chuckled before looking me up and down with a smirk on his face. "having the baby bring us together, it's like some kind of destiny."

i quickly raised an eyebrow. "bringing us together? patrick, i'm in a relationship...." i said bluntly.

patrick was a little taken back as he heard what i said. "you are?"

i nodded. "yeah i am."

he looked a bit upset that i had to decline his advance. "of course you're with someone." he mumbled.

"yay! someone who isn't related to steve." miranda said as she pulled me into a hug.

"miranda, hey. the place looks great." i complimented the church.

miranda nodded, "that's what happens when you're sharing a baptism with charlotte."

"so, i'm the godmom?" i said.

"you sure are. brady is a lucky little boy." she said with a smile.

i couldn't help but feel a sense of pride fill me at the thought of my honor to hold the role as brady's godmother.

before i could say anything else, charlotte walked over to us with a smile. "jamie! god, it's good to see you." she said as she gave me a tight hug.

"hi charlotte." i said as i pulled away from the embrace. "this is a beautiful service."

"you're looking really good." she said, looking at my choice of fashion.

i chuckled, "thank you." i said before i looked at both miranda and charlotte's dresses. "but you two look radiant."

the crowd was buzzing when the music began to play. everyone was excited for the arrival of the two children.

we all took a seat in the pews, watching closely as both kids were carried through the aisle by their parents. the family got situated, as both babies were up top with a priest to get baptized.

everyone was quietly watching as little brady and little lily were baptized. charlotte and miranda both looked happy, watching their kids be baptized. i felt my heart melt, it was a beautiful sight.

after both brady and lily were baptized, the priest began his service. he stood in front of everyone and began to address the church.

"thank you so all for coming today to be witnesses of brady and lily's baptism."  he said into the microphone. he continued, "today, we're gathered here to celebrate baptism for these children. to help them be welcomed into their christian life. we're also here to celebrate and support the parents and god parents. now let us bow our heads in prayer." he said.

i lowered my eyes and began to silently pray. i couldn't help but feel so at peace at a moment like this.

HOLDEN'S APARTMENT
new york, new york
7:30pm

i walked into holden's apartment and was instantly hit with the strong smell of his cologne. the apartment had a very clean smell, it was obvious that holden kept a tidy home.

i could hear the sound of dishes colliding in the background. i stepped further in, taking off my jacket and placing it on the hook by the door.

holden came out of the kitchen, a dishtowel in his hand. "hey, i didn't hear you come in." he said as he approached me.

"i just walked in." i said as i looked at the kitchen. "you cooked?"

he nodded. "i hope you're hungry, i made steak." he informed me as he grabbed me by the waist and pulled me into a hug.

he was wearing casual clothes, a simple t-shirt which showed his muscular arms and sweatpants. his hair was still damp from the shower.

"i'm starving." i mumbled as i inhaled the scent of his aftershave.

he gave me a kiss before looking me up and down. "you look nice. where were you wearing that to?" he asked curiously as he gestured to my sundress.

"charlotte and miranda had a joint baptism for brady and lily." i told him as i took a seat on the barstool of his kitchen counter.

a small smile appeared on his face as he began to prepare a plate of food. "i bet the two of them didn't want to settle for one uniform look." he teased as he cut the steaks.

"oh that's right, i forgot. how was it?" he said as he finished the steaks that were on the stovetop.

i crossed my legs, "it was really nice. the church looked beautiful. the ceremony was amazing too."

holden dished up the steak and brought mine over to me. "here." he said as he set down the plate in front of me, then he took a seat next to me.

i smiled and thanked him, looking down at the meal he prepared. "and get this, i'm a godmom."

he seemed surprised. "you're a godmom?" he asked with raised eyebrows.

i laughed, "yep. little brady's godmom."

he chuckled, "it was bound to happen sooner or later."

i nodded as i began to eat. "it feels so sudden, but i feel so honored that miranda even thought to ask me to be one."

"you're one of her best friends, of course she asked you." he said before taking a bite of his steak. "and you'd be damn good at it."

i took a sip of the wine holden put down in front of me before turning to face him. "did you pick out this wine?"

he nodded. "yep. the best of the best." he said before continuing to eat. "i have a whole wine cellar and i only pull out the good stuff when you're over."

i chuckled and shook my head, loving the idea of him saving nice wines only to drink them with me. "consider me charmed."

we continued to talk and eat, the conversation was easy, no awkward silences between the two of us.

he continued to look at me, clearly enamored by my appearance. after we finished eating, i reached for my wine glass. before i could take a sip, he pulled the glass from my hand and placed it on the counter.

"hey." i protested as he pulled my barstool closer to him, standing between my legs.

he smiled deviously as he placed his arms on either side of me, trapping me in. "you're just so beautiful." he murmured as his eyes wandered over my face.

i blushed, loving the attention he was giving me. he was incredibly attractive and i couldn't deny the chemistry between the two of us.

he leaned forward, pressing his lips against my neck. he began to lightly kiss my neck, sending a shiver down my spine. his hand went down to my waist, holding me in a firm grip.

i wrapped my arms around his shoulders, enjoying the feeling of him against me. i pressed my body closer against his, feeling my heart rate increase.

he pulled back slightly, looking me in the eyes as he smirked. "i can't resist you." he said.

"then don't." i replied.

his eyes lit up as he heard my reply. he picked me up from my seat, placing me on my feet. "you sure?" he asked, his arms wrapping around my waist.

"i'm more than sure." i whispered as he led me to the couch.
