Jungkook has been raised to meet rigorous high standing. He is, after all, the only son of the family and as such, nothing but academic excellence and irreproachable behaviour is tolerated.
Taehyung's upbringing couldn't be more different. It took a while for him to understand his best friend's need to do 'something drastic' every now and then "just to prove them I have a mind of my own" because no one would bat an eyelid if Taehyung came back home sporting a nose ring one day. But instead of 'something drastic,' (whatever that means, Taehyung is not sure he wants to find out), he suggests dying the tip of his hair.
"Bleached Jungkook might give your folks a heart attack so let's first get them used to the idea of hair dye."
And Jungkook listens. His parents aren't happy about it, but what are they to do? They can't disown their only heir. That would be most counterproductive.
And so he thinks, why stop there? When Taehyung goes shopping for his first earring, it doesn't take him long to convince Jungkook to get his ear pierced as well. "Looks good on you," he admits and Jungkook smiles because Taehyung is blushing now, biting his lips in an attempt to take the words back. But it's too late. Next thing they know, they're holding hands.
Taehyung loves holding Jungkook's hand.
He loves tracing the slightly dimpled knuckles with his fingers, marvelling at the concomitance of their smooth and sharp qualities. He doesn't recall the train of thought that brought about the realization that tattoos would likely enhance their natural beauty, but he's a little worried Jungkook has gone too far in his rebelliousness when his friend shows him his now permanently inked phalanges.
"W-what did your parents say?"
"They yelled. A lot. But I don't care. What I want to know is if you like them?"
That's when something clicks in Taehyung's brain. "Jungkook! Did you do this for me?"
It's Jungkook's turn to bite his lips. "Tell me you like them. Please."
"Wait, but the piercing, the hair—"
"All for you," Jungkook finally confesses, looking away shyly.
And yeah, he would have confessed much sooner if he had known he'd get smooched like that by his childhood crush.
