CHAPTER NINE💜
He had successfully blocked his ears with an ear pod. Resting his head on the desk. The rants and noise-making in the classroom was getting out of hands, and was affecting him too. He hated noise,
rowdy places. He was already
losing it. It was a classroom and not
a market square.
Seeing those girls fight like animals
was something which irritated him, the fact his sister was part of the whole drama marvelled him, Jewel was a different person in school. The way she talked and behaved at school was different from the way she behaved at home.
Jewel was more like a baby at home, who couldn't do anything by herself, cried at every little thing, but a loudmouth in school.
Which he noticed immediately. While she talked he had to turn to her twice, wondering if that was his sister or not.
Because it was surprising. Her behaviour was.
Getting a gentle tap on his back which alarmed him, he takes his face slowly up, only to meet the piercing look on a girl's face.
She looked like a half-caste, more like she was saying something to him, because her mouth was moving, but he couldn't hear her, because of the ear pod.
He sluggishly pulls both pods away from his ears. He doesn't say a word, he just looks at her. She wasn't talking anymore but staring.
Which got his attention. He stares back at her, without uttering a word. More like they were doing a staring contest.
Suddenly a smile appears on her face, which completely freaks him out.
Now his doubt had been confirmed. There was no normal person in that class. People called him a weirdo, but these persons were weird.
How would someone just walk down to you, move there mouths a little and start staring at you? Not just that, but start smiling too. Someone you don't know.
"Vee!" He heard someone call out, with the way the girl turned back, he could tell she was the one been
called.
"Veronica! Come na." The boy whose hair was tied in a buns says. Jayden had made contact with the boy in question, people called him,Nathan. So he took it as his name.
"Sorry. Can I seat here? I was asking you if someone has taken the seat." Veronica asks, looking at Jayden. His countenance suddenly made her uncomfortable. The fact he didn't even respond but stared back at her, made her take a step back involuntarily.
"I was asking if anyone was seating here?" Veronica repeats, she knew he heard her, but it wasn't making sense, since he didn't respond.
Jayden gives her an awkward look for a while, before tearing his gaze away from her's.
Now this was the height of it. Sister rude, brother a big-time snub. They were both abnormal, that was the next thing that got into her head.
She picks her bag gently, attempting to walk away but gets stopped by his voice.
"No one is sitting here." She pauses, turning to him. All anger she felt towards him where gone. His voice
was calm and soft. She struggled to stop herself from drowning in those eyes again.
She watches him pick up the ear pods on his desk, blocking his ears, before resting his head.
That was when it dawned on her she had been staring at him like a fool. She simply drops her bag carefully, before turning around. Obviously to go over to Nathan, who had called for her attention.

Geraldine tucks in properly, while she heads to the form mistress office. She was already feeling uncomfortable in her uniforms, she had regrets already. If only she knew, she wouldn't have slim fitted anything.
Instead of it giving her comfort, it clung to her body like a leach, she hated it. She had made a mentalnote of requesting for new pairs of uniforms and day wears from her Dad or Mum, either of them who
comes during visiting day.
The fact Ashley was trolling after her, made her boil. She had forgotten about the incident which took place, but seeing him and the fact he brought a report about there form mistress wanting to see her, spoilt her mood.
"See, don't step on me oh." She spat out rudely. "You won't look at where you are going to." She hisses.
"Why did you punch her on the breast of all places, that was a heartless act. You are a girl for crying out loud. You of all people should know the pains she felt." Ashley says, during his speech, Geraldine had stopped walking, and he did too.
"You saw what Ekanem did to me. Shey that was fair?" Geraldine asks, trying to control the anger which was suddenly building up.
"You said Ekanem not Ukeme. And you punched Ukeme. She is in serious pains now." Ashley says
calmly, meanwhile Geraldine chuckles giving him a blank look.
"Was I the one who asked her to act like Sasha banks?" She asks with no form of remorse. "I was concentrating on Ekanem and she jumped in. She is lucky It was just a punch, I would have matched
it too." Geraldine says, without an atom of remorse. Her facial expression seemed so blared.
The look on Ashley's face was priceless, he couldn't believe after his long speech, she still felt reluctant. What was he to expect from her? He wasn't surprised though.
She had always acted like a beast, especially when fighting, he could remember the several fights they
had as children, she was always violent.
"Why am even talking to you? He suddenly asks, with a raised eyebrow.
"You should be asking yourself that. Don't you have better things to do, than following me around? Or aren't you meeting up with Ekanem in your secret spot today?"
Geraldine asks, you could see the surprise on Ashley's face.
She lets out a wicked grin, before chuckling.
"Or you think I don't know. I hate that girl's so much. Blurting this out to Ukeme would have been ideal, the only reason I have been keeping quiet is because of you.
"Don't push me," Geraldine says.
"As much as I hate Ukeme, I still pity her, especially with the kind of boyfriend and best friend she thinks she has." With that, she attempts to walk away, but gets stopped by his words.
"Does Jewel know?" Ashley asks in a calm tone. Jewel knowing about this would be disastrous. Jewel
couldn't control her big mouth. The fact she hated both girls was another thing altogether.
"Ashley stop disturbing me." With that, she starts walking away.
Ashley stands routed at a spot, while he watched her walk away. He couldn't help but wonder how she found out, because they had been discreet.

The furious look on the woman's face didn't move Geraldine. There were things which moved her,
people who did and situation too. Mrs Otelemate didn't move her at all. The woman always acted all
strict and no-nonsense, Geraldine was the least affected.
She knew most of the statements made by her, where just her bluffing. Mrs Otelemate had never
liked Geraldine.
Mrs Otelemate sat directly opposite them, across the large table. She was currently the only one
occupying the office. She was a robust woman, in her late forties. She had this serious look and strict
aura surrounding them. One of the respected teachers in the school.
The look she was giving Geraldine now wasn't funny at all.
Geraldine didn't need a soothsayer to say so. Especially after the serious beating she had given her daughter back in Ss1.
Now she talking in favour of Ukeme wasn't surprising to her. The woman never liked her, and it
didn't move her.
"That was a heartless act. No matter what she did, you shouldn't hit a girl on her breast. Aren't you a girl?" Whatever the woman was saying, if the woman was talking or not, wasn't in Geraldine's agenda.
She already made a plan on going back to the hostel to eat wafer cubes.
"You both are the mini gods in this school. The senior prefect girl and Deputy Senior Perfect girl, what are you both portraying to the junior students? Let's this better not repeat itself." Now this sounded like a mosquito sound to Geraldine.
One look at Ukeme's face she felt like bursting into laughter, the joy she derived seeing her in such
pains.
"And the fact you aren't remorseful is getting on my nerve. I wonder how a girl would be acting so
repulsive. You are a girl, act like one. Your attitude would chase people away from you. Always want to fight." Mrs Otelemate says.
"Ukeme!" She calls out.
"Ma," Ukeme responds calmly.
"I don't want any form of arguments from you both, go to your classrooms."
_____________________🖊️
Feeling the hands wrapped around his waist, he knew the only person who could do that, he could perceive her deodorant too. He was on his way to the hostel. The only thing he had in mind was, go to bed and sleep.
After all, they where Ss3 students, he knew they were some benefits they had. Sleeping overtime was
part of it.
"Jayden, carry me on your back na." Jewel was the last person he wanted to meet. He was surprised she didn't bother him in the class, because she was fond of doing it.
He had totally blocked people off. But Jewel always forced her way in. She even had the habit of crying
when he refused to talk to her. She was just something else.
She always had something to say. And in all her conversation, she never stopped mentioning Gidi and Nengi, which frustrated him most times, always talking about people he didn't know. There was also a particular boy she always spoke about. He didn't like that, he knew Jewel, the last thing he wanted was her getting entangled with any boy. Because she was a baby, and it would be disastrous if any boy
broke her heart.
"I just want to rest. Can you just let me be, at least for today?" Jayden says in a pleading tone. He wasn't in the mood for her drama. He knew she wasn't letting him off the hook.
"Just carry me, that's only.., "
"Jewel, we are in school for Christ sake," Jayden says with a raised eyebrow. Knowing Jewel, he knew
she wasn't going to let him be.
"Push me oh, since you are blind." Jewel spat out rudely, to a student who almost bumped into them,
meanwhile Jayden stares at her, calmly.
"Stop been stuck up," Jewel says her voice suddenly calm.
"Between the both of us, who is?" Jayden asks with a bored look on his face. Meanwhile, Jewel crosses her hand around his waist. Like she was trying to take his measurement or height.
" I am getting taller." She laughs. Although he knew she was bluffing.
"At least I have a friend. How many people's have you spoken to?" Jewel asks calmly. "Also, come let me introduce you to my friend, Gidi." She says and smiles cheerfully.
He had heard that name so many times in the class, so he knew the barrier.
"Who? The wild girl." He says seeing her for the first time, even before the incident in the class, she looked familiar, he knew he had seen her before, with the way Jewel backed her up, he doubt was cleared.
Just that she looked different. The girl he had known to be her, had a boyish look.
Staring at his sister, he wasn't interested in whatever she was saying. But with Jewel, he just had to pretend to be interested, even though he wasn't. He could push anyone off, but she was very
difficult.
Because it was surprising. It was his first day in class, and he wondered if this was how Ss3 students where suppose to behave, because if so. They were acting so premature.
It marvelled him, that girls of that age couldn't comport themselves, instead they go into fighting and embarrassing themselves.
The both of them were acting uncultured, especially the one who was threatening to slap a boy. Mere
looking at her, he could see trouble written on her forehead.
It was more like a boy in a girl outfit, the way she talked, walked and acted.
Even the way she was throwing punches. Punching her follow girl on her breast, that was a heartless
move. Jewel talking like a madwoman was surprising to him, Jason dragging her out was the best option.
He and Jason had never been close, he is the type who always wanted to be on his own, Jason always
respected that. But Jewel never did.
She did things that compelled him to talk, most times he felt like strangling her, especially with the things she did. She could be adorable when she wanted to and annoying too.
"You said you were going to give me the crunchy gata." She says, meanwhile Jayden starts walking
faster.
"You have yours." He blurts out
"I need more." She responds.
"If I give you, will you let me be?" He suddenly asks.
