ACE (Jeff X Reader) ~The Death Card
^ↀᴥↀ^
"Bruhhhhhh"
"Hmm?" Jeff turned to look at the girl who was lying on the floor beside him.
The black hooded visitor had left recently since the morning sun began to rise. He bid his farewell before smashing through the main window and running out into the forest night.
"I'm bored." The girl whined, shifting her position, her back facing Jeff.
"Shut your whining." Jeff snapped.
The girl muttered underneath her breath before shifting her eyes towards the smashed window, seeing the sun beginning to chase the darkness away of the night. She smiled underneath the pillow, as she gazed at it dreamily.
Jeff shifted his eyes to look at the girl without her noticing him looking at her. His eyes began to sting due to his orbs glazing over one side for a while, looking at the unmoving girl gazing at the rising sun.
As Jeff began to look away, he heard the girl murmur under her breath behind the pillow. "You're so pretty.."
Jeff twitched as he glanced back at the girl. "Sorry, what?"
The girl didn't turn to look at Jeff. "The sun." She whispered. "It's beautiful.."
Jeff slowly shifted his eyes towards the rising sun, it's warm bright glow burning his eyes as he looked away the same second. At the same moment, he felt a pair of eyes resting on him, making him turn around.
The girl finally turned to look at Jeff. "What's wrong?" She asked.
Jeff didn't reply. He slowly got up and walked around the kitchen before returning to see the girl's eyes following his every movement. Jeff stared at her before choking out the words as calmly as he could, "Going outside."
The girl nodded, still watching him as he opened the door and closed the door gently. As soon as the door closed shut, he leaned against the door, his legs felt weak, as he let out a sigh. Suddenly, he felt his head shot right up as he heard the faintest sound of a scuffle behind the corner.
Narrowing his eyes, Jeff walked slowly, creeping above the grass, his back stuck to the wall as he continued awkwardly making his way around the corner. Once he reached the edge, he leaned his head out to see a man, about in his 30's or 40's, staring out of the smashed window. Jeff followed the old man's gaze to see that he was staring at the laying girl.
Fury burned in his stomach as he tightly clenched his fist. However, he kept his anger, swallowing the burning sensation down his throat. He focused his attention back towards the man. He was wearing all black.
Like a burgular, he thought inside his head.
He could see that the old man was gripping a small knife on one hand. Before he could move or think or speak anything, he heard a loud scuffle noise as he looked up to see the old man, turning around to see him, before eyes wide, running away from him.
Growling under his breath, Jeff followed him, his footsteps lighter than the old man. He was on the old man's tail, since it was easy to spot him in the morning, because he was wearing all black and was running away slowly, and making much noise.
Jeff followed him closely, hiding behind the trees, that the forest provided a shield and hiding place for him. He knew every tree, every crack, everything that passes by, taking it to his advantage. The old man, obviously got lost in the forest, pausing to catch his breath beneath an old dead tree, unaware that Jeff was following him right behind.
As soon as Jeff was a few feet away from the old man, he made sure he was hidden behind a tree as he slowly reached into the pocket of his white hoodie, pulling out his knife, dried from blood, but was still shining as the blade hit the rays of the morning sun.
He then quickly whipped around the tree, expecting to see the old man's expression, startled. But, to his surprise, he didn't see the old man. Dazed in confusion, Jeff lowered his guard, loosening his tight grip on his knife before he felt a splitting pain on his head.
Whirling around, clutching his head, he could see the old man, hitting him on the head with the back of the handle of the small knife. Hissing in pain, Jeff lowered his hand to see that blood was smudged on his hand.
The blow was enough for Jeff's head to break and bleed a little bit.
Growling, Jeff focused again, clutching his knife, tighter than ever, before charging full speed at his target, slamming the sharp tip of the blade, straight into his chest. The old man let out a splitting agony scream, cut short by a series of spasm and gasps, trying to breathe in air before he panted and took his last breath, eyes rolling at the back of his head, not moving.
Jeff stared at the dead old man, his eyes filled with hatred before bending down and snatching the old man's knife from his pale hand and taking it with him. He turned around to see the sun was rising above the horizon. He looked down to see his white hoodie stained with a few specks of dry blood.
He glanced back at the old dead man again before dashing off into the trees again, tracing his way back towards the home where the girl was. Not long, he reached the front step of the house as he slowly turned the doorknob open. He opened the door a creak before letting himself in, rolling his eyes and letting out a sigh.
He heard the faintest sounds of somebody's footsteps, tapping lightly on the wood floor, making him open his eyes to see the girl standing in front of him, her eyes wide. She pointed at Jeff with a trembling finger, her scared eyes, wide. "B-Blood.."
Jeff let out the tiniest smirk. He loved seeing the girl look so scared, her eyes were wide, and she was trembling all over. He found it cute and decided to tease her. He stepped towards her, seeing that she took a step back. "Why?" Jeff asked. "Are you afraid of blood?"
The girl didn't answer, just looking at him with wide, scared eyes. Jeff didn't want to scare her that much yet, so he let out a low sigh, dropping his head. "I'm kidding. It's a joke."
The girl seemed to stop trembling, as she found the courage to speak up. "So.. it's not real blood?" She asked.
Jeff looked up at her, smirking. "No, this is real blood."
The girl twitched her eye, barely breathing as she heard the words. "Whose blood?" She whispered.
Jeff hesitated. Should he tell her the truth, saying that he killed an old man who was probably a burgular? He shook his head. Now's not the time. He thought. She probably knows already, she's just faking it. He added, re-thinking of the time he saw the old crumpled newspaper in the girl's pocket when she was asleep.
Instead, he lifted up the hood that covered his messy black hair. The blood had dried now, but it was visible, due to the girl's sight. "It's mine." Jeff reassured her, gesturing with his finger towards his bloody head.
Cautiously, the girl stepped forward slowly, placing a hand gently on Jeff's ruffled hair. "Does it hurt?" She asked, her tone of her voice soft.
Jeff smirked, playing along. "Ahh, it hurts. Don't touch over there" He lied, pretending to flinch away from her touch.
Surprisingly, the girl didn't mind his bad acting skills. She actually fell for it, he thought. "Oh.." she trailed off. She lowered her hand before hiding it behind her back, clenching it tightly, feeling awkward.
Jeff looked at her for a moment before letting out a soft smile. "Clean it."
The girl focused again, snapping out of her thoughts, her eyes wide with surprise. "W-What?"
Jeff sighed, looking up at the ceiling before biting his lip and looking back down at the girl again. He walked forwards towards her, and found her not stepping back away from him anymore. Naturally, he swooped his hand down and latched his hands with hers, swinging her around, before dragging her along-side with him.
The girl was surprised, but didn't speak. She followed Jeff obediently by his side before they reached the kitchen table. He dragged a chair out before sitting on it, one leg crossed on the other. "The stuff is beneath the sink." He gestured, nodding behind her.
The girl looked at him before turning around, bending down and opening the cabinets underneath the kitchen sink before grabbing a white fluffy towel and a pail bucket. She looked back at Jeff, asking for permission with just her gaze.
Jeff nodded, waving his hand towards the girl, closing his eyes, pretending to look annoyed. The girl's face suddenly flushed with embarassment before looking quickly away, busying herself by wetting the towel with the water from the pail she had filled up from the kitchen faucet.
She tried squeezing the towel to drain all the water drops out, but she still felt that the towel was heavy from the water that had stained into the cloth. She tried a few times with all her might, but could only manage a few drops out. She sighed out of pure desperation, about to try again before a hand grabbed her by the arm.
She turned around to see Jeff holding her. Trying not to look at the girl, he snatched the towel from the girl's open hands before pushing her gently out of the way, squeezing the towel, before most of the water drops were drained out of the stained white cloth. Without saying anything, he tossed the white towel back towards the girl, sitting back down on the chair.
The girl catched it with her quick reactions before stumbling back, looking at Jeff. She then walked towards behind him, softly touching his matted hair. She then traveled down further, tracing her fingers across the outline of his face before she found her fingers were matted with the cravings of dry blood.
She then placed the white towel over the wound, dabbing it softly each time before the wound was completely clean and dry. She headed over towards the sink, washing the towel and rinsing it before tucking the supplies back underneath the cabinet of the kitchen sink.
She turned around to face Jeff, her body worn out from the tireness. She felt uneasy as the way Jeff was staring at her with his unblinking eyes and his forever wide smile. "You need to learn some defensive moves," he commented out of the blue.
The girl perked up, looking at Jeff, her tired body lifting itself up from it's sleep. "What?" She asked.
"You need to learn defensive moves." He repeated calmly.
"Why?" The girl asked, not making sense into what he had said.
"The reason I went outside was I saw a man in his 30's or 40's." He explained. He glanced at the smashed window EJ had recently broke while exitting out of the house, while explaining to the girl. "He was dressed in black and had a small knife with him." He looked back at the girl. "He was staring at you."
The girl was perplexed. "What did you do to him?" She asked, narrowing her eyes, as if she were unsure of what he had just said.
Jeff hesitated. "I chased him off." He lied.
The girl nodded slowly. She knew he was lying. She hid one of her hands behind her back, thinking back to what the old newspaper had said that she had crumpled up inside her pocket.
Jeff continued. "Anyway, I'm going to train you some defensive moves. In case anything happens.." He trailed off. "You'll be prepared." He continued.
"You'll take a break every so often. And come to review your training skills with me." He said, reminding the girl of the monochrome clown and his games, LJ or Jack.
"So," Jeff continued, crossing his arms, still not shifting his gaze from her. "Drop, and give me 20 push-ups." He commanded.
