Part 34
ACE (Jeff X Reader) ~The Death Card
♥♥♥
"What are you doing here?"
"Err, fresh air..?" The girl explained, smiling nervously.
"You still can't walk.." Jeff breathed, staring at her.
"It's boring." The girl whined, pouting.
EJ silently took a step back. He raised his hand into two fingers and put them together, holding it above his head. "Sayonara, muthafuckas." He said, before dashing out of the kitchen.
Jeff was about to call EJ back, but a bright idea suddenly slipped into mind. He glanced back at the girl. "Can you walk?" He asked.
"I can drag myself on the ground." The girl said, proudly.
Jeff sighed and shook his head. "Get on my back." He ordered.
The girl's face immediately heated up. "W-What?"
"Get on my back." He repeated calmly.
"I-I just can't.."
Jeff cut her off by walking behind her and grabbing her legs, before dangling her in mid-air, as she desperately clawed the air, trying to get down. "Let go!"
Jeff didn't listen, he swung the girl over his back, her arms locked around his neck, while he piggy-back-rided the girl over towards the couch.
"Why are you doing this?" The girl whispered.
"Would you like me to carry you bridle-style then?" Jeff offered.
The girl kept quiet from then on, as Jeff slowly slid her body off of his, and onto the couch. Smile perked up, now in his dog form, and waddled over towards the girl, flicking his tail high in the air, as if he was going to let out a loud fart in front of Jeff's face. Jeff looked away in disgust.
Smile sat down near the girl, and sniffed at the dangling hand from the couch, making the girl giggle. "It tickles." She said.
Smile licked her hand gently, tail-wagging, as Jeff silently glared at him.
"So can you feel anything yet?" He asked the girl.
The girl turned to him and shook her head. "I can't feel anything near my leg, but overall, I'm fine." She replied cheerfully.
Jeff nodded, feeling reassured, as he turned towards EJ, who gave him the 'i told you so' look from the stairs that lead to the attic.
"Are you hungry?" Jeff asked the girl.
She shook her head. "No, not really."
Jeff gave her an unsure look, making the girl huff in impatience. "Honestly," she added.
"Okay," Jeff said, pausing a moment later before asking, "So what do you want to do?"
"Right now?" The girl asked, raising her eyebrow.
Jeff nodded in response.
"Err, do you have any games to play?" She asked awkwardly.
Jeff glanced back at EJ, who was raising his hands in defense.
"It doesn't have to be a physical game." The girl said quickly. Jeff and EJ were both tilting their heads slightly as if they had the slightest clue of what the girl had said. "It can be a mental game, you know, the ones where you think of a category and you have to say the words that fit into that category." She added. "Or the ones where you come up with random questions and you need to ask somebody, and if they can't answer, they lose."
"You get what I mean?" She asked.
EJ, in the background, was raising his hand, which signaled that he understood a little bit, by making the gesture of his two fingers slightly touching each other.
Jeff stared at EJ. "You understand?" He asked.
He still had no clue what to do. EJ leaned forward on the stairs, resting his head on his palm, which was on his leg. "Wow, you're really stupid." He muttered under his mask.
The girl heard him, and slightly laughed, while Jeff was shooting daggers out of his eyes. "Says the one who didn't understand sign language.." He muttered, staring at his mask, the black goo trickling down from the eyeholes of his mask.
"Excuse you?" EJ shot back. "Whose supposed to know sign language that well?"
The girl was staring back at the both of them, their arguments passing over to one another, until she broke it up by letting out a loud sigh. "Guuyysssss"
Both of them snapped back, including Smile who was now focusing attention on the laying girl. "Mk," The girl said, clapping her hands together.
"And now we play the game."
"What?" All of them asked in unison.
The gilr face-palmed. "You guys were not listening." She sighed. "You guys really are deaf." She muttered under her breath, looking away.
Smile perked his ears up. "No we aren't!" He protested, whining.
"Then prove to me that you really are listening then." The girl said. "By showing me you know how to play the game, and you know how to win," she said, a smirk tugging on her lips.
She heaved herself up and propped herself onto the couch, hugging a pillow against her chest. She turned her head around. "EJ?" She asked.
"Hmm?" Came a reply from the stairs.
"Wanna sit here and join us?" The girl offered.
EJ raised a hand. "Nah, I'm good. I'll just sit here and wait." He said. "And eat some kidneys.." He muttered under his mask, standing up and walking towards the kitchen.
"Okay.." The girl said, slowly taking her eyes off EJ. "So what game shall we play?" She asked.
Jeff shrugged. "I dunno, how bout the asking questions thingamajig?" He suggested.
"Sure," the girl said.
"Smile?"
"Mmm?"
"Wanna join us?"
"Nah I'll just watch like EJ," Smile said, leaping onto the opposite couch that EJ had recently slept on, curling his tail around and resting his head on his forepaws.
"Hmm," Jeff hummed, casually standing up, the girl's eyes following him as he sat beside the girl, the girl inching uncomfortably a few centimeters away from him.
Jeff's eyes glimmered.
"Okay, you ask the questions first." The girl said. "To let me know that you were paying attention to what I was saying, and you do know how to play the game."
"This game is too simple." Jeff boasted.
"Is it?" The girl asked.
"What do you mean?"
"Just see for yourself." The girl replied, smiling a bit.
Jeff didn't know whether to smile back or not, so he just let out an awkward 'heh-heh'.
The girl nodded. "You first. Go ahead."
"Okay," Jeff said, rubbing his hands. "Favorite color?" He asked.
"(Favorite Color)" The girl said, calmly. She paused for a moment, thinking of a good question to ask.
"If you can't think of a question then.." Jeff trailed off.
"Shut up, I'm thinking." The girl snapped, still thinking.
"Okay, got it." The girl said, after a few moments. "Who'd you choose between Smile and EJ?" She asked, exchanging glances with Smile who was now sitting up and EJ who had slowly walked out of the kitchen, hugging a blood-covered jar.
The girl quickly looked away.
"That's an easy question." Jeff said.
Smile perked up. "It is?"
Jeff nodded. "Mhmm."
"So who is it?"
"Yeah, who is it?" EJ asked from behind, sitting on the table counter on the kitchen table.
"Of course, it's Smile." Jeff answered, shooting a smirk at EJ.
Smile barked happily, wagging his tail. "Hah!" Smile shouted. "He thinks I'm better than you! >:D"
"He didn't say that." EJ muttered, staring down at his bloody-covered jar. ;-;
"Okay, your turn." The girl said, nodding at Jeff, who nodded back.
"Mmm.." Jeff said, tapping his chin. "I can ask anything right?" He asked.
"Yeah..?" The girl confirmed, raising her eyebrow in confusion.
"Okay." Jeff said.
He slightly leaned towards the girl, his eyes locking onto hers. "Who do you like?"
