The girl woke up to the same static noise ringing in her head painfully. With the strength that still remained in her, she gathered herself up and blinked her eyes slowly.
'What is this..' She thought.
Suddenly a familiar voice hissed into her ear. "Remember me~?"
Frozen, the girl immediately recognized who the voice belonged to. She had remembered the same voice that she had encountered when she was playing the game of chess with the monochrome clown.
The voice repeated itself again, but in a more demanding tone. "Remember me?"
Not sure whether to just stay silent or say something, the girl just silently nodded. There was a long pause of silence, and the girl thought the voice had disappeared, or hadn't seen her nod.
But suddenly, an echo of lightning striked across the black room, sending the girl jumping, terrified at the sudden sound. The sound followed by a boom of laughter, filled with evil and darkness.
"Well, I'm glad." The voice whispered.
The girl didn't know why she was here, how she was here, and who was the voice. Several questions swirled in her mind, but none with a good answer.
Yet.
The voice seemed to chuckle, reading the thoughts of the girl, it found her thoughts quite hilarious indeed. "It seems like you are quite lost, child."
Scared, all the girl could do was nod silently, no words escaping out of her mouth.
The voice let out a low sigh. "Well, it looks like I'll have to just get straight to the point." He paused, and the girl could sense the voice smirking for some reason.
Suddenly there was a loud snap, and a tiny hourglass appeared in front of the girl, and inside it, contained sand.
Silver sand.
Confused, the girl extended her open hands out and the hourglass drifted slowly to her and rested inches above her palm, rotating a 360 degree angle continuously.
The voice continued speaking. "Don't wanna waste time."
The girl glanced back up now, lowering her arms a little bit. "What do you mean?" She asked.
"You're still in that same hourglass y'know. Time's ticking." The voice chuckled darkly.
Suddenly the girl recognized who the voice belonged to. Who else could've known that she was in the hourglass. She knew that it was the Man.
Eyes narrowing in suspicion, she kept her guard up, and replied calmly, "Get to the point already."
"Oof, feisty one, aren't we?" The voice that belonged to the Man laughed at his own sick joke. "Anyways, I thought I might have to fill you in. But first, let me ask you a question. Do you know who is in control of this game?"
What kind of question was that? The girl thought. "I changed my mind. At first I thought it was either Jeff or LJ. But now, I think that it's you, since you created this whole mess." The girl spat.
"Correct." Suddenly a cloud of smoke appeared, making the girl cough and her eyes water as she waved the smoke cloud away. She rubbed her watery eyes and saw a figure, the same-like figure as the Man. As the smoke cleared away, she knew she guessed right.
However, she hadn't seen the Man this up close. Now she could clearly see what he looked like. He was wearing some sort of trench coat, with a little bow perfectly done. He had carried an umbrella for some reason, and was wearing a little top hat.
"Greetings, m'lady." The Man spoke, taking his top hat off in respect. He glanced up, and the girl gasped, seeing a slight red glimmer in his pitch black pupils.
He smirked, showing rays of shiny teeth, just like EJ. "Seems like I have you shocked. Have you changed your mind on being my to-be-bride?"
Taken back, the girl quickly spat out a no, her voice strong, echoing loudly.
The Man sighed. "Still grumy as ever.." He muttered underneath his breath.
But the Man quickly regained his smile once again. "Perhaps you do not know the consequences of being on your last life."
"What do you mean, 'last life?'" The girl asked, confused.
"You seem to have forgotten that in this game you are required to have three lives. None less or more. And you're beginning to lose your last life.."
"Wait," The girl cut him off. "you're wrong."
The Man raised one eyebrow. "Are you sure about that?"
"Positive. I lost one life during the fourth game, the one where it had crazy chainsaws flying over the place, and I lost a crazy amount of blood. I think I died then. But how could I be on my last life? I have two more.." The girl trailed off.
The Man chuckled. "Let me fill you in on that. The second life you've lost, remember, when you first met me. I had you pass a test."
The girl remembered now. It was the test that the Man had proposed to her, the illusion where Jeff was almost dying, and saying that it was her fault. But she still didn't get it. She hadn't been injured or whatsoever.
"But I didn't die." The girl protested.
"Yes you did." The Man said.
"How?"
"By heartbreak."
"You see," The Man continued on. "People can die of heartbreak as they suffer from extreme lonliness, and can eventually lead to endless trauma or death. You may not seem to realize or know that you had died, but you did, when that boy of yours had died in the illusion. You failed the test, costing you one life of yours."
"And now, the final life of yours, that's about to drain away from you.." The Man's eyes glimmered red again. "Is about to make you forever mine." He giggled gleefully, glancing at the tiny hourglass dancing in the girl's palms.
"But that's not fair!" The girl burst out in rage.
"What is there that's fair in life, darling?" The Man laughed to himself. "Nothing's fair at all, luck doesn't help, god doesn't help. We have to help ourselves."
"That's called cheating." The girl protested.
"Hey, I'm the one whose in control of this game. I make the rules here." The Man's tone hardened.
The Man began walking slowly towards the girl. The girl tried to step back, but it felt like she was frozen in place. She gazed up at the man with wide scared eyes as he leaned down to rub her cheek with his hand. She shivered against it, at the sudden and unfamiliar touch.
"Your skin, so tender.." The Man sighed softly, as he brushed against one of the fresh bloody cuts on the girl's cheek.
The girl winced. "S-Stop it.."
"Hm? What was that? A stutter? Why, I've never seen you so polite. All this time you were kicking and screaming like a little child, begging for me to let you go. What's this? Have you finally given in to me?" The Man's eyes glimmered even more.
The girl stared across the Man's shoulder. It was all black. She thought, if she gave in right now, would they be saved? Jeff, Smile, LJ, EJ.. If she had made a sacrafice, to let them be safe, would she do it?
"Listen," The girl spoke up.
The man backed away to hear her question.
"Would you be willing to let my friends go if I give in to you?" The girl asked.
"Hmm.."
"Please, I'll do anything you want. Just please let them be." The girl pleaded.
The Man snapped his fingers. "Sure. But you must obey to me, to every single thing I ask. Deal?" The Man extended out his hand, waiting for the girl to accept his offer by shaking it in return.
The girl stared at it, not sure if this was the right thing.
Suddenly, she heard a loud crack. Followed by rumbles. The Man whirled around, fists clenched. The girl peeked behind him and a flame of hope lit up in her. There was a tiny purple-ish glowing crack, that seemed to be expanding larger nad larger. She could already see the light in the cracks.
"Bloody hell," The Man spat. "What is this sorcery?"
Sighing, the Man glanced back at the girl. "Pardon me, m'lady. I'll go take care of this nonsense." The girl watched as the Man slowly walked towards the crack, but then, she heard a loud explosion, and an overwhelming source of light shined in her eyes. It was so bright that the girl had to turn away.
She could hear the Man cursing in the background.
When the light dimmed, she opened one eye, and saw a cloud of smoke. But this time, it was a different cloud of smoke, different from the Man.
She recognized it immediately.
LJ, she thought.
And she was right. As the smoke cleared she could see LJ in his most insane mood, his eyes blazing with rage, his suit looking more ragged than ever, and his hair, messy and all up in different directions.
The girl squinted her eyes and she could see another figure step behind the clown.
Two, actually.
Smile and EJ, walking out, daggers, teeth, and claws all out.
But Jeff was not there.
"Bloody bastard," the Man spat. "You three are just too much and too stubborn to handle."
LJ growled in response. "Give us the girl back."
The Man laughed. "You think I'll hand her back ever so easily? Nice try, but no."
"Guess we'll have to do this the hard way, then." The clown laughed, his high-pitched laugh echoed throughout the hollow room.
At that same moment, the clown began charging straight at the Man, his speed increasing twice as fast as before, while EJ and Smile dashed from behind.
The Man just stood there, smiling his devious smile, as he waited for the clown to reach him. As the clown reached him, the Man disappeared just in time, making the clown skid to a halt, whirling his head around, panting.
"Show yourself!" He screeched.
"Over here, matey." The Man chuckled, appearing behind the clown's back.
The clown turned around and clawed at him, but all he was clawing was thin air, for the Man had disappeared again.
"Stop playing your dirty little mind games. Come out and fight." The clown hissed.
"Now, that wouldn't be fun, wouldn't it?" The Man's voice echoed, followed by laughter. But his prescence was not shown.
EJ lightly shoved Smile in the leg and Smile looked up, annoyed. EJ nodded towards LJ, beckoning Smile to sniff out where the Man was. Smile got it and began sniffing at the air.
Smile finally found a faint trace and wagged his tail repeatedly fast, and stared into the empty void at his left.
EJ nodded, now knowing where the Man was. He slowly crept forward, while Smile was sniffing at the air, tracking the Man down. Finally, they came to a stop and Smile barked, showing where the Man was.
Startled, the Man was out of his invisible phase and EJ had just enough time to stab him in the shoulder with his dagger. However, he noticed that the Man hadn't flinched, nor cried out in pain. Instead, the Man looked into his empty sockets and smiled.
The Man jabbed two fingers into EJ's empty eye sockets, making EJ scream out in pain. He lost balance and fell on the floor with a loud thud, crying out in pain as he covered his empty eye socket.
Dusting himself off, the Man yanked out the dagger and threw it on the ground, next to the lying form of the black-hooded man.
He glanced over and saw a dog, with a long-stretched smile that went from cheek to cheek, just like the black-haired boy. The dog shivered in fear, it's tail lowering behind it's hind legs and it's ears flattened, but it still kept it's place and barked repeatedly at him, growling, trying not to show that it was scared.
The Man chuckled and stared at the weak defenseless dog as he stepped towards it, smirking menancingly as he drew out a gun inside his trench-coat, and aimed it at the dog's forehead. The dog immediately stopped growling and started whimpering in fear, shaking more than ever.
Meanwhile, the girl was in the distance, small and un-noticeable as she cowered in pain, clutching at her arm that was pooling with fresh blood. She had forgotten about her being the Man's voo-doo doll. Her tears streamed down her face that was contorted with un-imaginable pain.
She didn't even have enough strength to call out to them to stop, and explain to them about everything. But all she could do was stop the blood from pouring out and watch the fight go on. Her eyes widened as she saw the Man pull out a gun and aim it at Smile, his hand on the trigger.
She was about to call out something, when suddenly, the clown appeared behind the Man, claws out. The Man didn't seem to notice, as he laughed at the cowering Smile. The girl bit her tongue, so she didn't warn the Man that LJ was behind him.
But then she remembered.
She was his voo-doo doll.
She was about to cry out, but it was too late.
She watched in horror as LJ's claws pierced into the Man's back, thoroughly, in an out. At the same moment, the girl arched her back in pain, feeling sharp claws poking at her back and piercing into her skin, blood seeping out.
She collapsed onto the floor, as she saw her own blood began to spread amongst the floor. Her eyes were still locked on EJ, Smile, and LJ and the Man.
The Man did not seem to have taken any damage at all. But he turned his head around slowly and looked directly at the girl and his chuckle echoed throughout the room. "Looks like Savior cannot save Prisoner.. I have won this game.."
He tilted his head at the girl, and LJ turned around and gasped, seeing how the girl looked. He dropped the Man and the Man landed on the ground with a thud, like a sack of potatoes, his arms and legs bended and twisted in different ways. But his face showed no emotion at all.
"Who do you think is the Killer, Y/N?" The Man asked, his voice starting to slur.
Weak as she was, the girl let out a faint whisper. "You."
The Man laughed darkly. "You thought. Look again, Y/N.. It is you, who is the Killer."
The voice faded away completely, and the glimmer from the Man's eyes died away.
The girl's vision started to blur, and she felt completely numb. "No.." she whispered. "It can't be right.. I'm supposed to be the Savior.." Tears leaked out from her eyes. "I've failed the mission.. I'm sorry Jeff.." She stared at the tiny hourglass, and she saw that there wasn't any silver sand contained in it at all like before.
She could hear the Man's laughter echo in her mind. She heard a yell and she weakly looked up. She saw LJ, Smile, and EJ standing around her, and Jeff.
Jeff, who was shaking and holding her, bringing her face close to his bruised face. His wet tears that had dropped onto the girl's face, making the cuts on her cheeks sting. She could finally see how bad Jeff had looked. They both looked bad.
She blinked again, and suddenly, she didn't see LJ, Smile, and EJ anymore. She didn't see the same dark room anymore. All she saw was the light blue sky, with white sand falling on her face. But then, she realized, it wasn't white sand, but it was snow.
Snow that had fallen from the sky and lightly fallen onto her face. She smiled weakly and opened her mouth, extending her tongue, as little snowflakes danced and fell onto the girl's tongue. She turned her head around and was surprised to see Jeff beside her.
She saw a faint red in the snow now. Blood that was both pooling out of their bodies, and had slowly leaked into the snow. Jeff turned around and they both made eye contact.
"So, I guess this is how it ends.." The girl whispered softly.
Jeff shook his head weakly, and with the strength remaining in his body, he cupped the girl's face with his pale cold hands and gave her the lightest kiss on her lips, that could possibly be his last. He gave that kiss all the passion he had, before the girl broke the kiss and smiled at him.
"You're still a good kisser.." The girl complimented, laughing a bit, before coughing up blood. Blackness was starting to surround the corner of her eyes, and her breathing slowed.
She saw Jeff look at her with sad eyes, as he stroked the girl's head softly, pulling her close, so that the girl's head layed on his chest. The girl felt his faint heartbeat, thumping slower and weaker. Her eyelids had never felt so heavy.
"Go to sleep.." Jeff whispered, burrowing his head into the girl's hair, whilst stroking it ever so slowly. "I'll wake you up when it's all over."
The girl nodded her head, not resisting as she fell into her endless slumber, her last sight being the snow dancing in front of her face and landed on her, the dead trees that loomed over her, welcomingly, and the faint golden glow, of a tiny Ace card, before the world fell silent and as her eyes closed, she could hear the faint twinkling of snow that lasted for a few seconds, before everything fell completely silent.
