3rd POV

Quickly Ari made her way down the stairs, waving a small bye to Toulouse and Frankie, before closing the door behind her and rushing to the car waiting outside.

She pulled the handle and threw herself inside in lightning speed, causing a surprised expression to take over Shawn's face.

"Hi."

"Hi." He bid back.

As Ariana fixed her seatbelt, she mentioned Shawn to start driving. "Hope you didn't wait for too long."

"Nahhh. It's nothing." He waved his hand in the air, dismissing the apology. "You look beautiful."

A sheepish grin made its way on Ari's face. "You don't look so bad yourself."

A low chuckle was heard, before Shawn pressed the accelerator and the car increased in speed. Ari hoped it was going to be a not-so-long night.

A good thirty minutes after, the engine roared back to sleep in front of a big mansion, probably owned by the Jenners, who came here only on weekends. Although all of the party was inside, you could still hear the buzzling noise.

The pair made its way past the door, where they nearly got knocked out by some random dude already wasted, and pushed through the crowd, that one being tough, to end up across the dancing floor.

Some people noticed them along the way, some others were kind enough to even greet them whereas there were others who were either too high or too cocky to bugle.

"Imma go get you a drink. Want anything?"

Ari just shook her head and threw him a knowingly smile. "Anything with alcohol for me and anything alcohol free for you."

She noticed Shawn drifting off, getting smashed up like a sandwich in the crowd.

Boi, he's cute.

The music around was loud, almost too loud for her liking. There were perhaps two hundred people around, who probably had no idea what they were doing.

Parties have that effect sometimes. She fiddled with her fingers as she sensed the crappy feeling of lonliness embracing her. It was very desperate to go to such parties in times like these, especially when deseparte people were the ones who organised it.

She threw a glance around in hopes of finding something entertaining, something attention-gripping enough to loose her mind from the worries it had. But all her eyes saw were crappy people, wasted youngsters and pretty models smooching with some guys they probably never met before tonight.

"Your drink." It was Shawn. Thank God. "I'm sorry it took me so long, but the kitchen was full."

She threw him another of her cheeky smiles. "I can imagine. Is this beer?"

"I told you it was full."

She held her hands up and laughed at his hopeless state, before grabbing the beer and taking a sip. "You need to let loose a bit. After all this is a party."

"I think I've made it pretty clear that I'm not very fond of parties in general." Shawn scoffed at her silliness.

They chit-chatted for a bit, all in hopes of shaking the awkward feeling that had coated everything around them. That first pinch of unknown sensation between two humans when they sat in a new environment, urged to engage in a conversation.

She told him how she wanted to adopt another dog and he told how he was planning to start writing another album. That brought them to a really wanted discussion: music. If they had anything more in common, it was their passion to express things through music.

Ariana wanted to start a new album, too. She wanted a new era, but she didn't know where to pick it up from. Even though, she had a good idea circling around her mind for long.

The conversation flew, no rush and hesitation in its way. It felt rather simple and casual, but to Ariana it felt mostly normal, something she had a long time not experiencing.

Normal it is until reality strikes back.

"Hey, Shawn. Glad you made it."

Such an irritating voice, as if someone had grabbed a Barbie doll from a store shell and pushed her sound button, cut through Shawn and Ari's conversation. Her blonde hair pinned above her head, foundation at its finest, Hailey Baldwin stood there, body directed toward the male, obviously trying to ignore Grande.

A flat 'yeah' came as a response, Shawn scratching the back of his neck nervously.

"Oh, hi to you to, Bailey isn't it?" If it wasn't for the perfect attitude she had to hold up, Ariana would've burst out laughing at the 'intruders' nasty face expression.

"Hailey. It's Hailey." This time that high-pitched voice was accompanied with a bubblegum clearly-fake smile. "Anyways, as I was saying, Shawn why don't you-"

"You know there's two of us here, right? Or is your sight not okay? My bad, maybe your contact lens aren't working."

"I'm sorry, but you weren't even supposed to be here. Who invited you?"

"I invited myself."

Shawn took control over the situation and wrapped his arm around Ari's tight waist, smashing her fragile body next to his. "I invited her. Is that a problem?"

There was a slight brow raise at the end of the sentence, challenging Hailey on her next words.

"Of course there isn't. Uhm, I wanted to ask you if we could talk, somewhere in private-"

"Where is Justin, Hailz? Haven't seen him around lately?"

Hailey shook her head, trying to contain her irritation and the interruption the 'shorty' girl was causing wasn't helping. "He's busy. Had his own stuff to catch up to-"

"So do we. Now if you'll excuse us. Shawn?" She tugged at his shirt and eyed the way in front of them, mentioning for him to follow.

"Yeah, bubs."

Shawn looked down at her chocolate brown eyes with admiration and sighed all the old memories of the Barbie doll model away.

"Bye, Dailey."
