Levi stood in the doorway, arms crossed, as Kuchel leveled him with a glare.
"You will take Yuna out and get her everything she needs today," she said firmly.
Levi sighed. "I was going to—"
"No, you were going to half-ass it." Kuchel narrowed her eyes. "If you don't do it right, I will personally disown you. You'll be un-Ackermaned"
Levi blinked. "...That's not even a thing."
" It is now ."
Levi pinched the bridge of his nose. This woman.
Meanwhile, Yuna, completely unfazed by her grandmother's threats of removing Levi from existence, happily clung to his leg, staring up at him like this shopping trip was the most exciting event of her life.
"The tea shop's closed today," Kuchel added. "I sent Kenny to buy kid furniture while you handle the rest."
Levi scowled. "You sent Kiki for furniture?"
Kuchel smirked. "He's surprisingly good at it."
Levi muttered something under his breath about the old man buying a throne instead of a crib, but before he could argue further, Isabel waltzed in, grinning.
"I'm coming too."
Levi narrowed his eyes. "Why?"
Isabel tapped her cheek smugly. "Brat gave me a kiss. I'm weak now."
Levi scoffed. What black magic does this kid pull on people?
Kuchel patted Yuna's head. "Alright, we're all going. I don't trust your taste, Levi."
Levi sighed, knowing resistance was pointless. "Let's just get this over with."
The moment they arrived at the store, Levi was hit with his first problem—
"Tuna no walk."
Yuna clung to him, making absolutely no move to walk on her own.
He stared down at her, unimpressed. "Walk."
She blinked up at him. "No."
Levi sighed. "Tch—"
Before he could argue, Kuchel swooped in, picked Yuna up, and placed her in the seat of a shopping cart like it was the most obvious solution in the world.
Levi blinked. " Why didn't I think of that?"
His mom just smirked. Out-parented.
Kuchel handled most of the clothing choices while Levi begrudgingly accepted it.
Then came the matching father-daughter shirts.
"Shit, leave me alone," Levi grumbled as Isabel held up a "Best Dad Ever" shirt while Yuna clutched a tiny "Daddy's Girl" version.
Isabel laughed. "Too late. You're that parent now."
Levi wanted to disappear.
For once, Levi was in his element. Skincare, hygiene, soap—he excelled at this. In under five minutes, he had gathered everything Yuna could possibly need.
Isabel watched in awe. "You move like a professional, bro."
Levi rolled his eyes. "Unlike you, I have standards."
Meanwhile, Yuna was holding a bottle of lotion, examining it seriously. Levi glanced at her. "You don't even know what that is, brat."
"Tuna smell good," she said proudly.
Kuchel chuckled. "She learns fast."
Isabel, now fully under the brat's spell, decided to gift her a tiny tiara.
"Consider it a present," she said, placing it on Yuna's head.
Yuna clapped her hands. "Princess Tuna!"
Levi groaned. "Tch. This is getting worse."
Then Yuna pointed at something else—a hat.
"Kiki hat tuna!"
Levi turned and saw it. A cowboy hat.
Kuchel barely held in her laughter.
"Levi," she said, smirking. "Buy it."
Levi sighed. "Fine. If it makes her happy."
The last stop—the toy store.
And of course, standing in the aisle looking lost as hell was none other than Furlan.
Levi stared. "What the hell are you doing here?"
Furlan turned, holding a stuffed animal in one hand. "Duh. Buying something for my goddaughter."
Levi scoffed. "Self-proclaimed godfather."
"Tch, doesn't matter. Kid already accepted me."
Yuna reached for the stuffed animal. Furlan handed it to her without hesitation.
"Thank you!" Yuna chirped before—
A kiss on Furlan's cheek. The ritual continues.
Furlan dramatically gasped. "She blessed me."
Levi rolled his eyes. "You're all idiots."
Yuna then pointed at something—a small tea set.
Isabel smirked. "Yeah, yeah, she'll play with it with her tea freak dad."
Levi sighed but picked it up anyway.
Then, after everything was bought and bagged—
Yuna clung to him.
She looked up at Levi, her eyes shining, and without hesitation—
A tiny, warm peck on his cheek.
Silence.
Isabel and Furlan both gasped.
Levi froze.
Kuchel smirked knowingly.
His ears were burning.
Furlan leaned in. "Bro... are you blushing?"
Levi cleared his throat, adjusting his collar. "Shut the hell up."
