26. Hard To Get

To say the least, Jungkook was absolutely speechless and devastated by the actions of the other one.

The reasonless ignorance and those no words spoken a lot on his behalf and Jungkook was completely bewildered on how to even approach him next time, it's like he lost his courage to do so.

It was crystal clear Taehyung was running away from him, ready to ghost him and act like they were strangers again and that absolutely tore every piece of Jungkook left to stand there and ponder what exactly did he even do wrong.

He looked down, sighing off the heaviness of his chest but none could help the weight he felt, causing him to put his hand against it.

But could he possibly do anything after that? He couldn't. He lost the courage to do so. Maybe he had hurt him or Taehyung simply grew distant, that's all he could tell himself before departing the hall.

But that doesn't mean Taehyung was any better when he rushed to the closest restroom to disappear, hiding in one of the stalls as he completely lost it when he was all alone.

He gets attached easily but he can't get away with the same ease and Jungkook was all over his mind and heart.

He hates to admit he still feels every sort of acceptable and unacceptable feelings for the other, hated the fact he left him abandoned, was ghosting him and what else not to cause him all that sadness but he couldn't have that courage to approach either.

The lack of communication has him settling for the least, least being absolutely a heartbreak of loss.

But what he still didn't know was that Jungkook was still deep in his heart waiting for him to approach and just tell him what's wrong. He might forget the rest and start anew but that's what Taehyung was not thinking of doing.

He was not even thinking of doing anything.

He has lost his mind.

~♡~

His twin brother wasn't doing any better, ghosting is his job not the younger twin's but there they were, being the worst they could yet again V would be the one walking the same path that would lead him to someone or something he chose to leave abandoned.

After Jungkook left him in the practice room, he was left to chase after nothing, no plan to go home early either because he would have to walk past his brother and Jimin to make sure they go back just as safe which he possibly couldn't do for days, or should I saw for making sure he catch sight of Jimin for a good amount of time.

Silently watching him never seemed of any harm but fighting those urges to approach would become a battle like that time he absolutely craved his sight, his voice or anything about him because he hadn't seen him throughout the day.

So thinking of it he made his way to the dance & music club, tank top and shorts up to his knees with semi wet hair, his one hand holding a single strap of the bag falling through one of his arms.

He entered right in, catching sight of students busy doing their practice in different corners, a complete mess for his liking.

And those dark eyes searched for a sight, a sight he missed a lot lately.

"Oh hi, V! You're here?" Soon he heard a familiar someone, approaching him with all that excitement, almost jumping onto him to hug him and just as surprised as he was, he couldn't even proceed to hug her back and she pulled away soon too.

"Stacy?" He simply called, the girl smiling up at him.

"Did your practice go well?" She asked and he simply nodded, looking down at her.

"Okay great, I was missing you too. You know I got praises from seniors for my singing, I'm so excited to perform them in front of everyone. Can't believe just two days are left, ah I'm so excited." She kept talking as if having so much to say and V simply heard her while nodding his head, his mind still hazy with so much going inside but he seemed just as quiet as always.

"Guys, be careful. Carry them well!" Soon he heard J-hope over the other side, instructing some of the juniors who seemed to carry instruments out of the club.

And J-Hope caught sight of him there.

"Hey V!" The elder exclaimed, causing his junior to stand straight at the call.

"Would you come over and help us?" J-hope asked without wasting any time and V sent him a thumbs up as agreement.

"Ah, you're going again?" Stacy whined, quickly grabbing him by his arm and the boy looked at her apologetically.

"Sorry, just a while."

And he left her with puffy cheeks there, rushing backstage where J-hope was going.

There were many students helping them get the stuff away, and V didn't mind hopping in to help, making his way to the studio with J-hope.

"You're a big boy so how about you carry the bigger drums, will you be able to do it?" J-Hope asked as they made their way to the studio and V nodded.

"Sure, I can."

"Okay, get them, let me go and check the guys outside." Saying this he left Dowoo to enter the studio alone but to his surprise just when he entered a figure appeared right in front of his sight.

That figure his eyes were craving to see.

Cute little bean, cheeks of marshmallow, slightly tinted crimson and pink like those cherry lips, round adorable eyes falling into his dark ones.

The tiny hands of the other seemed to hold a lot, a lot for his little self, a drum with sticks and other wiring essentials stacked upon it, held by both his hands as he tried to take them out but got his way blocked by the other who just stood tall against the door frame, eyes losing that sternness to gentleness.

Jimin had his eyebrows knitted cutely in wonder but loosened them gradually after catching the sight of the other, finding him suddenly had him losing all the expressions of his face, good or bad, all gone and left numb.

Wet hair, white tank top, face always as bare and plain as his heart but something about him would always hold a power that would cause the weakening of those little knees.

Jimin took a long deep breath as he realized how they were silently staring again, just staring and only staring and that weight in his hands felt heavier and that he needed to leave so he decided to break that eyes fucking connection to change his way but mistakenly other stepped in that way too.

Jimin took another deep breath, stepping on his right again and again V stepped on the same side, this continued for a while, left and right. Jimin almost felt like he was doing it on purpose, or maybe he was.

The little one shot his gaze up at the other, seeming so done by his tactics.

"Let me go, I have damn work to do." He warned, trying to sound just as mad as he was and V only looked down at him, slightly tilting himself to give him space to finally walk away and just then Jimin stepped upfront to leave.

Poor him didn't have the idea that his one shoe lace was untied, something he stepped on and stumbled but luckily Dowoo was quick to extend his arm around the front of his waist, resisting him to meet the ground but the stuff definitely fell off.

The taller one tried to stabilize him on his feet, not letting go of his frame until he realized he was alright and Jimin couldn't understand what just happened but shot a death glare to the other.

"Now, thank you very much and stay back." Jimin pushed the other by his chest who just frowned, letting him squat down and put his stuff back on the drum and carrying it with both hands and soon the taller one noticed his shoe lace.

Jimin took up with the stuff in his hands to walk again but V held the back of his waist again.

"Wait." He simply said and Jimin turned around in a done way.

"What the hell do you want now?"

"Your lace." Saying this, Dowoo squatted down, trying to tie them up for him and Jimin quickly brought his feet back.

"You don't have to do this, I can help myself-"

Ignoring his debate, he pulled Jimin's ankle slightly who couldn't pull back and forth or else he'll fall but there he was with the drum in his hand and can't even look down to see his face while the other tied his lace, untying the other to tie tighter so he stays fine.

Jimin couldn't debate anymore. Maybe he's a sucker for his dominance or maybe his care or maybe just him overall. So he let him be.

And the two caught up with each other in a space for a while.

"V, where's the- seriously guys?" Soon they heard someone, J-hope seeing Jimin's back and V squatting down with his face on the level of his crotch, all that their senior could only see.

"Guys get a fucking room at this point." Saying this the senior left, sighing to himself and the taller one stood up, Jimin closing his eyes at the embarrassment.

Not again.

The taller one stood back on his feet, looking down at Jimin's embarrassed face who had his cheeks just as red as tomatoes and without sparing attention to the other one he turned around to carry away the stuff, leaving the other one to smile on his own.

~♡~

All that stuff was carefully brought to the venue, almost every stuff reaching there with some seniors guiding their places.

Jimin was done with his work when he decided to leave, he needed to catch up with his bestie while Dowoo was held by Stacy again, giving Jimin a reason to leave extra earlier because ain't nothing burns his blood more than watching him with that girl.

V kinda loved that sight of his sneaky crescent eyes catching a sight of him with her from time to time, cheeks slightly puffed with a frown, maddy mad Jimin seems extra cute in his opinion.

Their gazes never left each other throughout the time, they are just used to that eye fucking thing but that gaze simply would speak a lot on their behalf, Jimin's was slightly mad while V's was teasing and that made him madder which made him cuter so V kept being a teaser.

But not for too long because Jimin decided to leave outside, texting his friend to know where he is as he walked out into the corridor, eyes on the phone that he couldn't find the one in front and ending up hitting his face into his chest but luckily was held by his arm for support.

"Oh so sorry- oh… Jungkook?" Jimin looked up at the taller one who looked down, giving him a plain smile.

"Is Dowoo still in?" He asked as he let Jimin's arm go to stand properly and Jimin rolled his eyes at the question.

"Go and see yourself." The smaller one said in a monotonous tone that made Jungkook sadder.

"Did I do something wrong?" Jungkook asked on cue, puppy eyes activating as he looked at Jimin who's gaze softened just as quick.

He didn't mean to be rude to Jungkook, he's just never happy by the mention of the other.

"Uh, no, no… not at all. Why would you think like that?" Jimin panicked slightly.

"Then why are you guys ignoring me?" Jungkook later on asked in a low voice, looking down at the ground.

"Wait- what? I'm not ignoring you." Jimin said with a bit of bewilderment.

"Then I was right, it's only Taehyung who's ignoring me." Jungkook then looked up at him.

"Is he? Ah... I really didn't kn-"

"I know you do Jimin, you must even know the reason why."

"Oh no, seriously I don't."

"You're his best friend, why would you even say anything to me?" Jungkook said sadly.

"That's not true, I mean this is not what he would mean to do. I bet there's something he might have going on. Don't you worry, once it's alright he'll definitely let you know." Jimin tried to convince him in a hasty way, not knowing what else to say, yes he knows why but he simply can't tell him.

"Can you pass a message to him?" Jungkook then requested and Jimin gave a gentle nod.

"Sure."

"Tell him to call me, once. If he wants to." And as Jungkook said, Jimin's gaze softened even more.

Oh poor, Jungkook.

Soon the third one approached them, appearing out of nowhere on Jimin's side.

"Done helping your mates?" V asked Jungkook, standing so close right next to Jimin who sighed, deciding to walk away.

Jungkook simply looked back, seeing how Jimin just disappeared, V looked in his way as well.

The two sighed after sparing attention to each other. They can never understand the other two.

V found his friend with a downcasted expression so he put his arm over his shoulders, wiggling his eyebrows and Jungkook just shook his head.

"So you're simply not telling me what happened?"

"Because nothing happened."

"Then why do you like a rabbit in a cage?"

"Shut up, I'm alright."

V simply dragged him away like that through the corridor, Jungkook's place slower than before.

"Drink on me tonight, if you're up?" V asked his friend who hummed.

The two of them in their athletic attire, unbothered and kinda bothered as they walked together.

The two of them soon ended the corridor together to be out in the campus and that's when Rebecca appeared in front of them, causing them to stop in the tracks, V letting go of his arm from Jungkook's shoulder.

"Can we please talk?" Soon Rebecca shot the question, causing Jungkook to raise his eyebrows in amazement.

"Just the two of us please? For a while." Rebecca requested V who got the sign and decided to step back a little way by the fence of the garden while Jungkook looked back at him with a 'seriously dude?' look.

"So…" She started and Jungkook faced her.

"I… I just wanted to. I wanted to ask you something." She started hesitantly and Jungkook's heart paced up, no he didn't wanna hear anything stupid.

"I wanted to ask you to be my… you know…" She smiled shyly, looking down while fixing her hair behind her ear.

"Yeah?" Jungkook encouraged, growing impatient.

"Would you be my Fresher's partner? I would like to see you at the party so badly, please?" She then finally asked it and Jungkook internally phewed, thankfully it wasn't something else.

"Oh? I… I still don't know if I'm really going."

"Oh c'mon Jungkook, it's a very important day for everyone and I hope you attend it like everyone." She tried to convince but Jungkook just kept looking at her quietly.

"I would love to but-" Jungkook started hesitantly.

"But?"

"But I really don't know."

"Please Jungkook, if you won't attend I won't either because there's no point in me going there alone or with somebody else." She then whined and Jungkook sighed.

"Rebecca…"

"Jungkook?"

"I haven't thought about going and I still don't know if I'll be-"

"Or is this because of that guy? V's little brother?" Soon she asked with a blank face and Jungkook shut his mouth, eyes landing into hers at the accuracy.

"I have been seeing you with him a lot lately. Cafeteria, even in his posts, I just don't understand it sometimes. You never have time for me but always for him." She acted like she was a bit upset but Jungkook was more triggered with what she just mentioned.

"Is he the reason?" She asked again and Jungkook's gaze just tensed.

"Jungkook?" She asked, pouting sadly while Jungkook ran out of words.

"Are you?... Do you like guy-"

"I'll come with you." Jungkook blurted out just as quickly, not wanting to start a debate.

Her eyes shined with glow, a huge smile appeared on her face when she tried to hug Jungkook who was a bit taken aback, still not hugging her who pulled away soon.

"Oh my god, I'm so happy. I knew you would agree to come with me. Now I'm even more excited." She kept saying and Jungkook just spaced out for a moment.

Is he really going with her? Maybe he is.

But it's not like he had any other choice.

~♡~

"I know you have already cried a lot but I met Jungkook." Jimin revealed this to his friend, both of them sitting in a cafe for a drink together after leaving the university and Taehyung stopped his hands from stirring his matcha.

Jimin reached for Taehyung's hand on the table, putting his little one on his long one as he looked at his friend's slightly heavy eyes.

"He thinks he did something wrong. Not just you, he asked me the same. I was even surprised but I understood right away, something must have happened and now that you told me about it, I can't help myself from not telling you this." Jimin whispered to his friend who's gaze softened again, heart still so heavy after what happened.

Taehyung had just shared about his day, crying in the process and his friend with numerous hugs tried to calm him down and decided to take him to the cafe to hear the whole thing calmly.

"He must be confused, Tae, not talking to him would only create a huge misunderstanding. If you don't want to lose him as a friend, maybe telling him would decide the rest." Jimin suggested in a mature tone and Taehyung simply looked down in an exhausted way.

"He even requested me to tell you to call him, whenever you want. He seemed pretty down when he said that." Jimin added and Taehyung loosened his posture, feeling so weak out of guilt and sadness.

Ain't no one Jungkook is still putting in so much effort and here he is being the cowardly one.

How can he forget about all those feelings he started feeling for the other? He's just the most perfect guy and he simply can't comprehend the fact he won't ever like him back for being a guy. Stupid of him because he should have seen it coming.

"I don't know how to tell him." Taehyung then whispered sadly and Jimin held his hand with both of his hands then, leaning closer to the table.

"Take your time, I know it's messed up. Just always be honest and upfront for yourself, no matter what. I shouldn't be saying this but good or bad, whatever has to come, you just have to be prepared for it and stay strong. Loving someone is not a crime if they don't love us back, so never let your head down." Jimin assured his friend whose lips quivered, wanting to cry more but there were people around them.

Jimin's words always hold power when he gets serious about something and that's what Taehyung loved about him out of all those other thousand reasons.

Just so Taehyung won't cry, Jimin had to switch his tone and mood.

"And if not him, don't worry, that Wooshik guy seems intriguing." Soon Jimin was back to his sassy old dramatic self, looking at his friend with a side teasing gaze who pulled his hand back after rolling his eyes.

"Seriously bitch? Not you being a hoe after an angel. He just stumbled upon me randomly, nothing else."

"Oh so was Yoongi for me but now we're going to the party together." Jimin said dreamily and Taehyung couldn't help but smile at his friend even with that heavy weight constantly upon his chest.

"Why don't you ask him?" Jimin then suggested and Taehyung frowned.

"Jimin-ah?" He asked in a frustrated way.

"Okay okay, sorry. Just a suggestion because if you are not asking Jungkook you need to keep a substitute."

"Substitute? Really? Jimin, you don't know he's all over my mind and heart right now and you're trying to set me up with another guy for no reason." Taehyung whined sadly and Jimin extended his hands to cup his face.

"Okay sorry, drink your matcha and we'll go to your place later on, yeah?"

And Taehyung sipped that drink as if life depended upon it, no it still didn't help him cool down himself.

But least to his knowledge, Jungkook was already going with somebody else, and he might even lose his will to go if he finds out who he is going with.
