Haneul's P.O.V.

December 21st, 2018

"Mummy, look!" I exclaimed, tugging at the skirt of her dress. "We're here." A goofy grin spread across my face as I looked out the window as the train slowly came to a stop. Street lights, shop lights, and car lights, they were always on, making the city seem ten times brighter.
"I know." She sighed as she stood up from her seat and pulled her dress-skirt down. "I have eyes, Haneul." I stood up, my legs wobbling a bit from sitting down for so long. I tried stretching around a bit, hoping that would help regain some feeling into my legs before we began to walk.
"Are we gonna go to your home now?" I inquired as excitement filled me. She never talked about her apartment and the years I had been alive, I've never seen it. She was always so defensive about me going and would take me back home after five hours of having me with her. Papa was disappointed she never wanted anything to with me, but she always seemed to be busy and didn't really want to have me around. I was a nuisance she would always say when I was getting on her nerves, it hurt to hear those words, but her insults had grown so familiar to me. She nodded and grabbed my hand, pulling me out of my thoughts as we began to walk off the train. I glanced around me, wanting to see everything Busan had to offer. As I looked around, I saw Miss Jee quickly grab her things and begin to head off the train right as we were. I didn't want Mummy to say those awful words to her again, so I tried to ignore her departing figure. I hope she didn't take my silence as me judging her for being her, she really did seem like a lovely lady.

"Haneul." Mother spoke, causing me to look up at her as we walked onto the platform of the Busan train station. "Stay close to me." I obediently nodded as I continued to glance around at everything. Everything here was so new and different, it felt overwhelming that I just couldn't look at it all at once. Questions and random thoughts filled my head, but I knew if I said them all aloud, Mummy would snap at me and the rest of walk home would be spent in silence. Suddenly, I felt someone tug at my shirt, forcing me to stumble backwards and nearly fall to the ground. I quickly regained my footing, not wanting to be scolded for something I didn't do. I looked back, only to see a tall, brunet man who looked at me. His eyes staring at me up and down. He gave me a small smile that I returned, why would he grab my shirt or was it even him? He mumbled something into a walkie-talkie, a smirk forming on his face as he glanced back at me from time to time.
"We need to go," Mummy remarked, tugging me forward as she clutched my suitcase in her spare hand, her knuckles slowly turning white. I turned my head away from the man, focusing my attention on the doors that lead to the beautiful city called Busan. Did he grab me? Why did he smirk? Did Mummy see what had happened? Question filled my head, but I decided to push them away, knowing they would only lead me to trouble.
"Is it nice here?" I asked, my curiosity, unfortunately, getting the best of me once again. She didn't answer my question, she only pushed open the door and waited for me to follow her out. I sighed and did as wordlessly told, I didn't want her to be upset with me already. I wanted to enjoy the little time I had with her.

"Sure." She replied as the doors shut behind us. "It's okay here." I nodded as the cold breeze hit my cheeks, causing a numbing sensation throughout my face. I giggled as I pulled my scarf up, my hand gripping Mummy's more tightly than before.
"We're taking another taxi, but if the same thing happens again, don't open your eyes and shut the f*ck up." She ordered, her eyes burning with rage. I nodded, hating how my curiosity always got the better of me. "Good boy." She ruffled my hair before raising her hand in the air, hoping a taxi would stop. After a minute or two of standing there, one finally decided to stop. I opened the door and sat down in the backseat, my lips sealed. I didn't dear say a word to the friendly looking woman who sat in the driver seat. I knew Mummy would have my head if I did.
"Hello." She beamed, a soft smile forming on her cheeks. I wanted to reply, but as I was about to mutter a small hello, Mummy slammed the trunk down and opened the door. The smile fell from the woman's face as she looked between Mummy and I. "Where to, you b*tch?"
"Well, it's f*cking nice to see you as well, Violet," Mummy remarked, a smirk appearing on her face. "How's life?" The lady known as Violet frowned, her eyes meeting mine as she looked into the rearview mirror.
"As you can f*cking see... not too well." She fumed, her right foot slamming down on the gas. "How's your cheating a**?" I covered my ears, tired of hearing the nasty words Papa told me never to say.

"I'm fine," Mummy replied. No matter how much I tried, I could still hear them. "As you probably know, I have a kid and I'm engaged to one of richest men in South Korea." Violet scoffed, raising her hand and showing Mummy her middle finger. I gasped lightly but quickly covered my mouth. Why were they so mean to each other? I wanted to ask, but I was terrified I would be yelled at.
"You narcissistic a**hole," Violet muttered, stepping on the gas once again as she flipped her black hair over her shoulder.
