Chapter Seventy-Three: Leisure Vessel

"Revolution?" Bruce frowned.

"I'll explain later," Thor whispered.

"Who is this guy again?" Brunnhilde querried.

"I'll explain later," Thor repeated.

"So I'm assuming we have a plan?" I folded my arms.

A long sigh. then, "I'll explain later."

There was a tremendous crash as Brunnhilde blew the door off its hinges with the massive gun in her grip. I stared at her with widened eyes. "Aren't we trying to be covert?"

"We're trying to draw guards away from the garage, no?"

"Fair enough."

We both entered into the circular holding cell Thor had directed us to. And what I saw made me do a double take. Some kind of... Rock... Person... Thing? Next to a—God I couldn't even guess what that was. But, it wasn't like I hadn't seen aliens before. Brunnhilde herself was an alien. And, well, I supposed I was too.

"I'm looking for Korg," Brunnhilde demanded.

"Who's asking?" The rock-person-thing stood, approaching us. I stepped back cautiously. "Well," the rock—Korg, I gathered—stuttered, "I know you're asking. Just—Just is there anyone else asking, or just you?"

Brunnhilde and I exchanged looks, my brow quirked.

"The Lord of Thunder sends his best," Brunnhilde turned and smiled, before tossing the massive gun into Korg's hands.

There was the distintive chick-chick as Korg cocked the gun, looking up and passed us into nothing, a stoic expression on his face. "The revolution has begun."

Brunnhilde nodded, grabbing hold of my arm, and wrenching me after her. We caught up with Bruce, who was trying to be inconsicous as he kept watch further along. The three of us, Brunnhilde leading the way, made for the port, where we borded Brunnhilde's ship.

Given that Loki and Thor had done their part, we would meet them in the skies, and then be gone.

We shot out of the hangar, right through a massive holographic projection. I cast a glance over my shoulder, where the Grand Master's projection was rapidly becoming smaller in the distance. I couldn't make out what he was saying over the hum of the engine, but I assumed we were busted.

And, judging by the massive lineup of ships soon on our tail, I knew I was right.

"There they are," Brunnhilde said, as she shot down the ship on our right and banked to fill the now empty space.

"Good shot," Banner said.

"Thanks," Brunnhilde smiled softly, nodding her head in the direction of Thor and Loki's stolen ship.

There, my gaze locked on to the red and gold ship at the forefront of the chase.

Brunnhilde looked slowly to me, and then Bruce. "Get ready," she lifted her eyebrows, before turning on her earpiece. "Open the doors," she ordered.

In response, the red and gold ship ahead of us, now only by a few feet, popped open its doors, as the hatch of Brunnhilde's ship slid back. My stomach dropped. This was not going to be fun. Brunnhilde looked over at Banner, as she maneuvered the ship beneath our stolen one.

"I hope that you're tougher than you look," she said, doing nothing to calm my nerves.

"Why?" Banner asked, but before he could get his answer, Brunnhilde slammed her fist down on a button, and Bruce was rocked upwards, right through the red ship's open hatch. She looked to me next.

"And here I thought it would just be an easy jump from one alien spaceship to another," I said, exasperated.

"In retrospect, I should've done you at the same time," Brunnhilde reflected.

"You think—"

Before I could utter another word, I was launched upward at breakneck speed. One moment, I was looking at Brunnhilde. The next, I was looking at Thor.

Discombobulated, I pushed to my feet, surverying the ship.

My chest tightened, jaw hard, as I registered that Bruce, Thor, and I were the only ones on it.

Thor looked back to me, his mouth pressed into a thin line. The words were on the tip of my tongue, but Thor was already ahead of me. Before I could ask, where is he? He waved his hand, shaking his head. "Where do you think?"

I closed my mouth. Opened it. Closed it again. Awkwardly, I shuffled into one of the craft's seats. Was I surprised? I would be utterly stupid to have been surprised.

My stomach dropped as the ship lurched, narrowly dodging an assault of laser beams, pulling my thoughts back to the present moment. I could pick apart Loki's actions later, when we weren't fleeing from an alien planet.

"Shouldn't we be shooting back or something?" Banner cried, inredulously as he stumbled forward, still disoriented by the jump between ships. Evidently, he'd had a rougher landing than me.

"Yes, we should," Thor answered, searching the control panel. "Where are the guns on this ship?"

"I thought you knew how to fly spaceships?" I demanded, panicked as I glanced at the ships on our tail.

"There are many different kinds of spaceships, I can't very well fly them all," he shot back.

"That comforting," I sighed.

"It's a leisure vessel," Brunnhilde's voice came over the speaker, "You won't find any guns. The Grand Master uses it for his good times. Orgies and stuff."

"What?" Banner blinked stupidly, stumbling toward the front of the vessel, "Did she just say the Grand Master uses it for orgies?"

"Yeah... Don't touch anything," Thor responded.

I closed my eyes, breathing deep. "That was something I did not need to know."

Suddenly, ahead of us, Brunnhilde's ship began to spiral. We all watched tensely, as smoke billowed from beneath it, another ship on its tail.

"No!" Thor and Banner cried suddenly, as the ship errupted in flame.

"Look!" I called, as a small figure sprang from the wreckage.

Brunnhilde arched through the sky, latching on to the side of our ship with a pained cry.

Shots rang out behind us as more ships swarmed.

"Get inside!" Thor called to her.

"In a minute!" Brunnhilde responded.

With that, she launched from the ship, landing on top of the one nearest to us. She sliced her blade through the metal of the roof, causing it to burst into flame.

"I should probably go and help," Thor said, "Here take the wheel."

He latched on to Banner, forcing him into the chair even as he pleaded, "No, I don't know how to fly one of these."

"You're a scientist," Thor assured him, "Use one of your PhDs."

"None of them are for flying alien spaceships!" Bruce called after him as he made for the hatch.

"What do I do?" I asked, as he prepared to jump.

He shrugged. "Moral support?"

With that, he launched himself out of the ship. With one look at Banner, it appeared as though he could definetely use moral support.

As Thor and Brunnhilde tore down the spacecrafts behind us, I tried to calm Bruce while he steered toward the giant red tornado in the sky.

"Okay, come on, there's gotta be a gun on this thing," Bruce panicked, mashing the control panel.

"That's smart."

"Well this one looks like a gun," he pointed at a button that, with one glance, I knew I definetely did not want to know the purpose of.

Before I could object, his hand came down on it. The lights around us became multicoloured, as the voice of the Grand Master came over the speakers, backed by electro music and fireworks.

I watched behind us as we shot fireworks into the path of the last ship on our tail, obscuring the pilot's sight. I watched with a satisfied smile as their ship crashed headlong into a piece of rubbled sticking up from the ground.

"Yeah!" Bruce cheered, and I rolled my eyes, laughing.

"Well, okay then," I clapped Bruce on the shoulder, "Nice work, doctor."

I sat back, just as the hatches both slid shut, announcing Thor and Brunnhilde's return.

"Guys, we're coming up on the Devil's Anus," Bruce said, pointing forward.

He slid out of the driver's seat, allowing Brunnhilde to take over driving as everyone buckled in. I welcomed the change in pilotry when I saw the rubble pouring from the massive wormhole. I had a vicegrip on my armrests as the ship clattered against falling debris, but beside me, Brunnhilde wore a wide smile.

"Here we go," she said excidedly.

"Oh, joy," I said sarcastically, mashing my eyes closed so I didn't have to watch our ship explode and everyone die.

The ship gathered speed, forcing me back against my seat. The rattling and banging became intense, shaking my core. I groaned in pain as we sped at light speed toward the bright light at the end of the wormhole, as my consciousness failed me.

One moment there was blinding light. The next, total darkness.
