Happily Ever Afters for Villains?
(1990)

"DAMON SALVATORE. YOU WANT ME TO BEFRIEND DAMON SALVATORE?" Genesis asks with a bewildered look on her features. She knows who Damon Salvatore is. His brother, Stefan Salvatore, mentioned him twice.

All she knows is that the two brother's relationship has been strained since Stefan killed their father and forced Damon to drink human blood to complete their transition as a vampire, and they were both undoubtedly in love with the same girl.

Katherine Pierce, or what Niklaus likes to call her, Katerina Petrova.

Niklaus went with this exaggeration of storytelling about his curse and that her mother locked away his werewolf side and that they invented a so-called curse, the sun, and moon curse, so that the people that had heard of it would serve the ingredients of breaking the curse to Niklaus in a silver platter and with him not lifting a finger, because apparently, every vampire wants his favor—and he would take advantage of that opportunity.

The sun and moon curse all seem so familiar, as if it was already told to her twice.

"Yes." Niklaus coolly says as he paints. The brush strokes are careful and full of pristine details. It was bright and surprisingly colorful than his usual paintings that consisted of neutral tones.

"Why?" Genesis asks, sitting down on the wooden chair, waiting for an answer.

"Because dearest Genesis. Damon Salvatore has been finding a way to get Katerina out of the tomb that she got herself stuck in, or so he thought. I heard she escaped. And has been on the run ever since." Niklaus answers as he dips his brush into the water and coats it with yellow from his color palette.

"A run from—a silly question. She's on the run from you, with the moonstone in her pocket." Genesis states, and Niklaus hums in agreement. Finally, she's digesting the information that he has been telling her.

"And what makes you think that Damon will find her?" Genesis asks. She stands from her seat, strolling around his art studio and examining his paintings and drawings.

She stopped abruptly when she saw the landscape portrait of Niklaus and three other people by his side.

Klaus was sitting while the three stood behind him, a beautiful blonde girl in the middle and two men standing on both sides.

The one that stood on the girl's left side has a mischievous smile on his face, brown eyes, and brown hair. He looks as if he starts the trouble and ends it with chaos, wearing a crisp black suit.

The other, with how he stood and confidently looked, radiated respect, class, and nobleness. It's as if his gaze could pierce through the portrait with his hazel brown eyes, his hair is quite long, with a side fringe to it, but it looked good on him. It made Genesis's undead heart skip a bit, maybe twice?

He looked more than good.

He's handsome.

"Those are my siblings." Niklaus's booming voice removed her from her daze. "The blonde with golden locks is my youngest sister, Rebekah. On her left is Kol, and the other is Elijah." Niklaus informs him.

"Where are they?"

"Daggered in a coffin. They are quite annoying, if I must say."

"You keep your siblings daggered in a coffin?" Genesis asks, her eyes widening. She doesn't know why he kept her alive and breathing, most specifically, not in a coffin, tucked in somewhere in this house.

"Most siblings don't do that?" Niklaus asks with amusement in his voice, and Genesis chuckles.

"No. They don't, but who am I to judge?"

"That is why I tolerate you."

"Thank you. I very much appreciate it for you keeping me alive."

"To answer your question earlier, before you gawked at my brother Elijah." Niklaus hides a grin, and Genesis rolls her eyes. And it proved one of Niklaus' theory, that Genesis's heart still remembers Elijah.

"Katerina will always find her way back to the Salvatore siblings. It's only a matter of time before she barges into their life again, in a dramatic way, I suppose." Niklaus tells her as he places the color palette and brush on the table, taking two steps backward to examine his work.

He has a satisfied look on his face before he calls out, "Marvin!"

A human comes running as if life depended on it, "Yes, sir?"

"Call the art museum that Vivid City is finished and only needs to dry. And after that, send it to them," Niklaus orders and the human nods. Niklaus then walks out of his art studio, and with his finger, he beckons Genesis to join him. She gives him a scoff but follows him anyway.

They entered his office, and he plops down on his leather seat. Genesis sat on the couch.

"Why do you want to find her anyway?"

"I don't care about Katerina if I am being honest. Oh, but I do like to torture her mind. She committed a great sin to me, and I plan to collect." Niklaus tells her as he pours himself a glass of whiskey and tequila for Genesis with lime on the rim.

He places her drink on the table, and Genesis sits on the chair that's in front of his office table.

"And you plan to collect how?"

"You ask a lot of questions."

"I'm curious."

"Curiosity killed the cat."

"Satisfaction brought it back." Genesis answers confidently, and Niklaus looks amused at her and grins at her.

"I need to know where she is no matter what. The idea of Katerina thinking that I am hunting her even though I am just sitting in an office in Columbus city is, well, oddly satisfying." Niklaus tells her he raises his glass while Genesis raises hers too. "To revenge."

"A petty move, but I support you. To revenge." Genesis tells him as their glasses click.

"Oh, you like the pettiness. Admit it."

"Not more than you do, apparently." Genesis retorts back with a light laugh. And surprisingly, Niklaus laughed too, and it was genuine.

The atmosphere felt nice and comfortable, almost familiar. Genesis often felt that everything she did with Niklaus always felt familiar, like it was close to home, somehow.

"Where is he anyway?" Genesis asks him, and Niklaus gives her a grin, "It's quite convenient. Actually, Damon Salvatore is here, in Columbus."

"Convenient, indeed." Genesis rolls her eyes. Now she knows why Niklaus chose Columbus, it's far away from Mississippi, and Genesis needed to be separated away from Elliot for a while. But they always meet and catch up halfway.

"LOOK AROUND, EVERYWHERE YOU TURN IS HEARTACHE. IT'S EVERYWHERE THAT YOU GO.YOU TRY EVERYTHING YOU CAN TO ESCAPE." Genesis sings out. Vogue by Madonna, which was only released last week. She has to admit that the woman has a good sense when it comes to music.

Her eyes searched the crowd, looking for the description that Stefan briefly described when talking about his brother, Damon.

Why was she at a bar? Because Niklaus told her that Damon Salvatore is always at this bar. So why not enjoy it while doing a mission?

Bingo.

Genesis thought with a grin. She sees him sitting on the bar stool alone, with a glass of what she presumed–bourbon in his hand. Scruffy black hair, leather jacket, black pants, and black leather boots—that he, from the looks of it, wants the women to presume that he is a bad boy.

"All you need is your own imagination. So use it that's what it's for. Go inside, for your finest inspiration. Your dreams will open the door." Genesis sways her hips as the men in front of the stage gather. They followed her movement with their hungry gazes, begging for a taste—as if.

Then Damon turns his stool around, he tilts her head at her. He gives a grin and a wink–she admits that it's disgusting and not charming at all. Genesis hides her disgust and gives a flirtatious wink, and he tilts his glass of bourbon toward her.

Her song was finished, and she made her way toward him. She orders herself a drink as he mutters out to the bartender, "I'll pay for her drink,"

Genesis chuckles. She leans on the bar, "I don't sleep with men in love with their ex."

Damon's careless behavior was thrown out the window. He stilled, went guarded, he glared at her, "What?"

"I said, what's your name?"

"Damon." He tilts her head at her curiosity.

"My apologies for overhearing. It's not every day that a man asks how to open a tomb of vampires to find his lover." Genesis tells him, and he shrugs.

"And you know how?" Damon asks, leaning forward.

"I might," Genesis says as the bartender places her drink in front of them, she takes it in her hands, sipping her drink, looking at him through her eyelashes. Damon must admit that the woman standing in front of her is beautiful, with her curly hair, dark green eyes matching her skin tight dress, and goodness, her plump red lips are tempting.

Genesis hides a laugh. Damon was utterly enamored by her as he should—she thought to herself.

"Eyes here, big boy." Genesis snaps her fingers, and Damon removes her eyes that are creeping toward her boobs. "I might know witches that can help."

"And why do you want to help?" Damon asks, seemingly suspicious. This woman, who was undeniably pretty, wanted to help him find the love of his life.

"At least one of us can get their happily ever afters." Genesis lies between her teeth. This was pathetic, honestly. Why couldn't he just agree? She thought to herself.

"Want to elaborate on that?" Damon asks.

"I lost my fiancé in 1987. I might not get mine, but you have a chance to get yours." Genesis lies again, and for a better attempt at her lies, she grasps her necklace, which now contains the engagement ring Rafael gave her, and Damon follows her fingers and the way her thumb brushes the pearls. For fuck sake, she doesn't want to involve Rafael's death with their schemes.

"Villains don't get happily ever after," Damon grumbles out as he empties his drink, slamming the glass on the table.

"How awful life you live. Heroes get their happily ever after because it's their fate, but villains, they mold reality to get their happily ever after. They work hard for it, and it's what makes it more satisfying once you reach it."

Author's Note:
—Act one is done! Act one of enchanted, as you all have read, consists of building Genesis's character. And I will be doing that to Clementine and Giana's story as well! Act one for the following two books will develop my character's personality, traits, how they act and think, their ambitions, etc., and I did this because I want you all to connect with them in another way deeply.

I don't want to jump into the plot right away because I feel like you won't really resonate with my character. And I think their storylines are much more interesting than what will happen during the scenes that I will be writing them in with the tvd episodes.

But yeah, as you all have read, the shit is about to begin.
