04 | suicides + kindness.
hey babes, a little more casual // personal style in light of the recent events surfacing local , national , and global news: suicide. it talks about how mental health disorders && suicide are literally becoming epidemics throughout the world ,, our nation && even in the gates of our own states.
i'm sitting here, biting my nails, and thinking this over. all of these celebrities have what we "perceive" as— 'IT ALL.' yet one by one, they're committing these dreadful acts, and just like that- it's over. they no longer have a platform, their audience, an opportunity to spread light. they became so encompassed in their darkness, they felt like life wasn't worth it- they're chance to spread love wasnt worth it
these public personalities who have the resources to get the BEST help && support, compared to people like me, like you, who don't. and again, they're still killing themselves. it makes you wonder how we're all supposed to get through this, keep walking.
it starts with this: kindness.
we live in such a bleak seeming society, full of obligations, expectations, and contradictions. everyday, more and more people fall victim to this— instead is standing up and being the person everyone is wishing for. everyday we're choosing to look at the dark sides of life,, sitting in our sorrow- hoping for a savior. at the end of the day, we NEED to be our OWN saviors. we are the ones with the power to give and to take lives; specifically, our own. if you can stop yourself from pulling a trigger, from picking up a blade, or from spewing words of hate— you've saved a life.
maybe, you wanted me to comfort you- to tell you your worth, to remind you that you're loved. trust me, we all need to hear that every once and a while. even still, while you are so loved, so important, and worth the world; we have to be strong, on our own. we have to learn how to stand. we have to be able to understand the importance of life, over fishing for moments of reassurance. nothing will change that way, nothing will change until our mindsets change.
children are dying. teenagers are dying. adults are dying. celebrities are dying. students are dying.
this isn't a pat on the back.
this is society needing to stop.
and guess what? society starts and
ends - with US.
we are the people who become those
that set the standards, those who enforce
what publishers suggest, those who put each other down, but those who can lift each other up.
if you think that a smile doesn't affect a day? you're wrong. if you think a nice, unexpected message doesn't change someone's life? you're wrong. if you think we can't hear you talk behind our backs, see that you're clearly ignoring us, understand that we're not enough for you? wrong wrong wrong.
no. im not telling you that we can't talk. im not saying this needs to be a millennial time with constant political correctness && the fear of stepping on each other's toes,, because that's ALSO apart of the PROBLEM.
im saying that we need to change our attitudes and our hearts.
we all live on the same planet, the same earth, nobody is better than somebody else. no matter your circumstances, your clothes, your money, or your current popularity. you're still human.
we create so much unnecessary competition between ourselves ,, as if it does more than put everyone around us down.
this situation ?? it's not just another thing to protest. it's something we actually have to DO. in the halls of our schools, our workplaces, our home.
stop expecting somebody else to help and do it yourself.
i think, we're all hurting in our own ways. and we look around , seeing other people who "would never feel that way," but they're in the same boat. again, another comparison, another competition. if we just stop elevating each other in a competitive standpoint- and realize we're in this long haul together? do you understand how much farther we could move as a society??
we hate on those who disagree with us. we see somebody not as popular and we ignore them. we talk about each other behind our own backs. and another person dies.
kindness doesn't mean lying. it just means, taking a second out of your day to make sure you're not putting somebody down. this isn't a time to be selfish. this isn't a time to sit back and wonder. step up. we have to step up.
like i said before, we're all hurting. but you can't get better if you like to sit in your own darkness. and sometimes, we just need to push through it. because there's always somebody out there, who needs it more than us. recognize this pain ,, and channel it to change somebody's life for the better. hopefully, somebody will do the same for you.
im everywhere in this post &' im sorry if it's unclear or like schizophrenic.
but im so tired of the news. im tired of our environment. im tired of people further sinking into darkness. im tired of doing nothing. it's absolutely depressing, it's sickening, and it's not stopping. and we mourn the celebrity while ignoring the real problem. us.
we have to become better ,, think better ,, and love better. everything now a days just further puts a wedge on us. whether you're christian or muslim ,, republican or democrat ,, liberal or conservative. it's all becoming a derogative. nobody can get along because apparently ,, according to each side- everybody's wrong.
this is a problem.
im just.
please. please. be kind.
